The following is a list of version differences between the various versions of Final Fantasy XV.

PlayStation 4 and Xbox One[]

Final Fantasy XV released worldwide on November 29th, 2016 for both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. The changes listed below are exclusive to non-Japanese territories.
English version[]
- Versions outside of Japan on PS4 use

to cancel. - Various English terminology is altered:
- "Shift" and "Shift Break" are changed to "Warp" and "Warp-strike".
- "Phantom Swords" and "Summon Phantom Swords" are changed to "Royal Arms" and "Armiger".
- "Ability Call" is changed to "Ascension".
- "Magic" is changed to "Elemancy".
Chinese version[]
- Religious elements were toned down.[1]
- Profanity on the clothing of Prompto Argentum was removed after an update.[1]
- The Skeleton was modified to resemble the Goblin enemy.[1]
- The Lich was modified, removing the human face that was on its chest.[1]
- Shiva's model was modified to to show less skin.[1]
Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition[]
An update titled the Royal Edition released on March 6th, 2018 on the same date as the Windows Edition. Those who purchased the original game can purchase a Final Fantasy XV Royal Pack to upgrade, although the season pass content is only included in the Royal Edition. Save data from the base game can be transferred in the Royal Edition.
Noctis has a new ultimate skillset, "Armiger Unleashed".
- Insomnia City Ruins – A new dungeon that expands on the city of Insomnia with additional cutscenes, sidequests, and new enemies, such as Cerberus, Omega, and the Rulers of Yore.
- Royal vessel - The royal vessel is controlled to allow players to explore the Cygillan Ocean between Cape Caem and Altissia, allowing players can to fish and discover new fishes and dishes.
- Armiger Unleashed - A new accessory that can activate the Armiger Unleashed ability, which allows players to unleash powerful attacks when Armiger is summoned. Players can access the accessory in an unidentified part of the world once all royal arms are found.
- First-person camera mode.
- Bonus Content - In addition to the season pass content, all weapons, Regalia car skins, and item sets that were available to download are included.
- Archives - players can review the "Cosmogony" stories scattered throughout the world. Additional local myths and legends will also be placed in many new locations in Almanac, allowing players to obtain learn more of Eos.
- Regalia Type-D - New quests and scenes when customizing the Regalia Type-D.
- New achievements and trophies.
Final Fantasy XV Windows Edition[]
The Windows Edition for PC platforms released on March 6th, 2018. It includes all content from the Royal Edition, with new specifications to optimize the experience for PC users.
- Localization for additional languages: Italian, Korean, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.[note 1]
- Russian voice over is included by default.[note 1]
- 120FPS support.
- Cloud Saving is available via Steam Cloud on Steam, EA App Cloud Saves on EA App and Xbox Cloud on Xbox on PC.
- Save files carry over between Xbox on PC and Xbox One.
Google Stadia (Defunct)[]
Expert Duel.
The Google Stadia version released on November 19th, 2019 and included the main game and all DLC content as well as Comrades, though it could only be played with other Stadia users. Most of the crossover content were not included in this version.
A new exclusive mode titled Crazy Challenge included the following minigames[2] playable from the title screen:[3]
- Challenge Rally - New Regalia Type-D races.
- Expert Duel - New battles against enemies that were previously Comrades exclusive.
- Endless Magitek Armor
- Magna Flight - Challenges involving the Regalia Type-F.
In 2023, Google shutdown the servers of Stadia on January 18th, making it no longer possible to play this version of Final Fantasy XV.
