- Kurenai is staring intently at you.
- Princess Kurenai tells you of how, a few days prior, a man dressed from head to toe in black appeared at the palace. He claimed he had come to bestow divine protection upon her sister, the Ruby Princess, but instead called forth a flood of voidsent beasts and spirits, which possessed the Sui-no-Sato ruler and her guards. Seeing this, Shiosai evacuated all those not under the influence of the void, then sealed the palace away in a dome of water, which now threatens to break. Fearing the voidsent sealed within might escape, Shiosai looks to destroy Shisui of the Violet Tides and everyone in it. You and Princess Kurenai must convince him to do otherwise.
- Shiosai agrees to give you a chance to drive the evil spirits of the place away and save its inhabitants before embarking upon a suicide mission to destroy Shisui of the Violet Tides. He hands you a scroll, which will grant you access to the palace. as you turn to depart, Princess Kurenai divulges to you that she has not been entirely truthful with you. as much as she would like to set things right, it seems she can only do so after you save her sister. Follow the princess to Shisui of the Violet Tides.
- Princess Kurenai thanks you for agreeing to help and tells you that, though he might not show it, the sullen Shiosai is also very appreciative of all that you are doing for them. Now, delve into the palace and save the Ruby Princess! ※Shisui of the Violet Tides can be accessed via the Duty Finder.
- You have successfully purged Shisui of the Violet Tides of all its unwanted inhabitants and rescued the Ruby Princess. Find Princess Kurenai who awaits you at the entrance.
- According to Princess Kurenai, Shiosai has carried the Ruby Princess, who is in a comatose state, to the village. Bidding you return with her to the village where you might speak undisturbed, she takes off.
- The possessed guards have begun to come to but Princess Kurenai's sister still has yet to awaken, and she grows concerned for her sister's well-being. Patch | 4.0 |
Journal
- Hansaku is desperately searching for a charitable soul willing to lend him a hand.
- A man by the name of Hansaku stops you to ask if you know anything of the East Aldenard Trading Company. When you inform him that you are acquaintances with their head of shop in Kugane, he begs you to meet with his superior, Tsukikage, who has been looking to establish a new trading partner. He then points you in the direction of Crick, where you can find him. If you are feeling generous, make your way there and speak with Tsukikage.
- After brief introductions, Tsukikage divulges that the men he just took into his custody are claiming to be merchants with the East Aldenard Trading Company. He thinks they are lying to avoid paying the Ruby Tithe. for fear of incurring the wrath of a potential business partner, however, he would like to make absolutely certain before seeking retribution and requests your help with this endeavor. Asking that you take the flag he obtained from their ship along with a list of the items they found aboard the vessel, he would like for you to present it to one of the merchants in the Kugane branch office and inquire if any of it belongs to their organization.
- You stop one of the East Aldenard Trading Company merchants and ask him if the scarlet flag or items on the inventory list belong to them. Sadly, he appears to know no more than you do and suggests you speak with one of the merchants in charge of cargo at Pier #1 named Kikimo. Head over there to see what you can learn from her.
- Kikimo glances at the flag and list, and immediately tells you they do not belong to the East Aldenard Trading Company. She then goes on to lament the fact that you were the one to ask her. Had it been anyone else, she would have tried to swindle the goods out from under them by claiming the ship as one of their own. Right before you turn to go, she asks you to get in touch should the Confederacy be looking to sell any of what they confiscated. Tsukikage should be delighted to hear the news.
- You return the items to Tsukikage and confirm what he suspected all along─that the men they apprehended were lying about their affiliation to the East Aldenard Trading Company. in spite of this, he remains in high spirits, much of which can be attributed to Kikimo's business proposal to find buyers for the Confederacy's goods. It seems things have finally started to look up for the pirates of Onokoro.
Objectives
- Speak with Tsukikage.
- Show an East Aldenard Trading Company merchant in Kugane the scarlet flag and inventory list.
- Show Kikimo the scarlet flag and inventory list.
- Return the scarlet flag and inventory list to Tsukikage in Onokoro.

Journal
- Tsukikage is ready to talk trade.
- Tsukikage tells you of how members of the Confederacy are not allowed in Kugane. Instead of going there in person to negotiate with Kikimo, he would like for you to deliver a letter which outlines his preferred terms and conditions. He, however, does not have the aforementioned missive on his person, and asks that you accompany him to the nearby guardroom. Go with him and receive the letter.
- You follow Tsukikage to the guardroom and he hands you the letter. Make your way to Pier #1, where Kikimo is likely to be and deliver it to her.
- You deliver Tsukikage's missive to Kikimo at Pier #1 in Kugane. After quickly scanning it, the East Aldenard Trading Company representative tells you she would be happy to accept the conditions he has outlined in the document. She then goes on to say that if the Confederacy manages to procure a few other luxury items from the Ruby Sea in addition to those listed in the captive ship's inventory, she would be willing to pay them handsomely. She then hands you a letter of her own containing a contract for Tsukikage to look over and sign. See that it makes it to the Confederacy treasurer.
- You return with Kikimo's contract in hand and seek out Tsukikage. He is pleased to hear that not only did she accept his terms but offered the Confederacy additional coin in exchange for obtaining luxury items exclusive to the Ruby Sea─the fins of a soaring shark, teardrop pearls, and the shell of a decade-old turtle. Eager to begin, Tsukikage starts to divvy up the work, but before he can finish Hansaku rushes off to procure the fins. Worried he has gotten ahead of himself, Tsukikage asks that you go after him.
- You find Hansaku, who is cowering under the gaze of his quarry. as the soaring shark moves to attack, you step in and put an end to it. Taking its fins, you then turn to help Hansaku, who appears to be extremely shaken by this encounter.
- As you talk to him, the color slowly begins to return to Hansaku's face and you know he has recovered. Disappointed with his performance, he tells you to bring the fins you obtained back to headquarters before dashing off ahead of you.
- You hand the fins to Tsukikage, who now has everything he needs. It seems all that is left for him to do is deliver the goods and receive payment. Having been banned from Kugane, however, it remains to be seen how exactly he intends to do just that...

- Tsukikage is eager deliver his goods to Kikimo.
- Tsukikage tells you of how he has arranged to meet Kikimo at Sakazuki. as this will be his first time meeting her, he has requested that you accompany him there.
- The ship Kikimo has come on is too small to transport all the Confederacy goods back to Kugane. as such, she must return once to the port city and bring back a larger vessel. Tsukikage suggests meeting at the far north of Sakazuki to ensure the transaction goes through smoothly. to prepare for her arrival, he would have Hansaku clear the northern area of wild beasts while Suzume rests at the guardroom to recover from her pearl-diving injuries and he and you see that the goods make it safely to the other side of the island.
- As Tsukikage is having his men load up the goods to transport them to the other side of the island, he notices that one of the items is missing─the crimson-shell ring. He suspects it has been stolen and would like for you to fetch Suzume that she might assist him in tracking down the thief. to find her, with the chat mode in Say, use your keyboard or the software keyboard to enter any phrase that contains the name “Suzume” at the designated location.
- While you fail to find Suzume, your calls attract the attention of one of the other pirates. He tells you that Suzume ran off to Hells' Lid to meet Hansaku, with a ring on her finger. It may be prudent to inform Tsukikage of this turn of events.
- Upon re-checking the inventory list, Tsukikage realizes the crimson-shell ring that went missing had been made by Suzume's parents. He suspects the fake merchants they tossed into the sea may have had a hand in the village raid that lead to her parents' deaths. Knowing that Hansaku was once involved with them, Tsukikage reasons Suzume has gone to Hells' Lid not to help him but to get revenge.

- Tsukikage appears deeply troubled.
- Tsukikage suspects that Suzume has gone to Hells' Lid to avenge her parents' deaths by killing Hansaku. to do harm to a fellow Confederate, however, is considered to be an act of treason and he fears if someone does not quickly put a stop to all this, he will lose not one, but two of his subordinates.
- You speak with Suzume and distract her long enough for Tsukikage to join you. Together, you manage to convince her to put off her plans to murder Hansaku until after Kikimo receives her delivery. Under Tsukikage's orders, Hansaku and Suzume then set off to secure the area and dispatch of any remaining beasts. the Confederacy treasurer leaves to take care of the remainder of the shipments but before returning asks that you stay behind to help clear the area of beasts and keep an eye on Suzume.
- As per Tsukikage's orders, you check the near vicinity for any menacing monsters. You deem the area clear. Now it is time to go and check upon Suzume.
- You come across Suzume, who is surprisingly with Hansaku─both of whom appear to have sustained a smattering of light wounds. Two vicious beasts rove about them and it falls to you to step in and save Tsukikage's subordinates.
- As it turns out, Suzume was attacked by the beasts while her back was turned and Hansaku threw himself at them to save her. Through his selfless act, she has become aware of her own mistakes, and apologizes to him for the harm she attempted to inflict upon him. Now that everything has been peacefully resolved, the Confederates must turn their attentions back to the matter at hand: seeing that Kikimo receives her delivery. While Hansaku and Suzume rush off to load her ship, Tsukikage requests that you come meet him at Onokoro once everything is done.

- The Ruby Princess is waiting for you to join her.
- The Ruby Princess would like to look into the origins of a peculiar faerie tale regarding a sea-faring fisherman and a princess who had been plunged into a years-long slumber. She believes the island of Onokoro holds some of the answers she seeks.
- You seek out the princess, who has been approached by one of the natives of the island─a Confederate pirate. While he starts to get a bit smart with you, it does not take long for him to recognize exactly who you are. Brushing it off as a joke, he then urges you to speak with a fisherman who comes to visit the island once a year. According to the pirate this man knows a great deal about faerie tales, and is currently docked at the Quickscape Pier.
- As the fisherman tells it: long ago a Kojin of the Blue was saved from certain death by a Hyuran fisherman. the grateful Kojin rewarded this man with the promise of an adventure and a vial of liquid that would allow him to breathe indefinitely underwater. Following him to the depths of the seas, the fisherman and Kojin traveled together, eventually coming across a princess who had been asleep for years in her palace. the Kojin, seeing this, produced another vial that instantly woke the princess. Hearing this story, Kurenai concludes the palace mentioned in the faerie tale is Shisui of the Violet Tides and would like to return to Sui-no-Sato to conduct further investigations.
- Kurenai and you are joined by Shiosai, the overseer. After informing him of all that you have learned from your trip to the surface, he reveals that one of the ancient stories of Sui-no-Sato spoke of a Ruby Princess who wed a Hyuran man. Suspecting that the fisherman's faerie tale is closer to an account of historical events, Kurenai would like to travel with you to Tamamizu to ask the Kojin of the Blue about the elixir for eternal sleep.

- The Ruby Princess is eager to depart for Tamamizu.
- Princess Kurenai inquires as to whether you have ever been to Tamamizu before. Upon hearing that you have, she appears immensely relieved and asks that you show her around upon your arrival there. It is time to depart for the lands of the Kojin of the Blue.
- You travel to Tamamizu with Princess Kurenai. There, you decide the first step to finding the cure would be to search out the Kojin merchant, Inban, who gave her the tattered book of faerie tales when she was younger. Together, scour the quaint village for this individual.
- You speak with Inban, who tells you that a cure to Hisui's condition does exist in an ancient book of Kojin recipes, however, it cannot be recreated. One of the ingredients─the shell of a bloated yumemi─can no longer be procured, as the last of these ancient creatures was spotted decades ago. Nevertheless, you and the princess are undeterred. Announcing her intention to gather kelp, which was used to bait these giant mollusks, she bids you meet her at Exile─the erstwhile bloated yumemi hunting grounds.
- You meet Kurenai in Exile, who hands you the most delicious stalks of kelp she could find. She then points you to the mouth of a nearby cave, in which the bloated yumemi hunting grounds of eld are located, and asks that you attempt to lure one out and obtain its shell.
- Using the kelp stalks, you set the bait for any bloated yumemi that might be in the vicinity. After a bit of waiting, one appears and you make swift work of it before stooping down to harvest its shell. Princess Kurenai will be overjoyed to see you have somehow achieved the impossible.
- As you return to where the Ruby Princess is waiting, you see that she has been joined by Inban. You present the two of them with the bloated yumemi shell and they are both incredibly impressed. Taking it, Inban promises to make the remedy and deliver it to Sui-no-Sato as soon as it is ready. Seeing as you have accomplished what you came to do, perhaps it is now time you return with Princess Kurenai to her village.
- Kurenai is extremely grateful for all that you have done for her. She goes on to say that once Hisui awakens she is destined to return to the palace and reassume her responsibilities as the true Ruby Princess. While sad that doing so will require leaving the outside world, she is glad to have met and adventured with you. the greatest question of all, however, still hangs silently in the air: can Hisui be shaken from her sleep?

- An elderly fisherman is looking for an able-bodied woman to assist him.
- You are approached by an elderly fisherman who begs you to rescue a young man named Nayoshi. He has been trapped by a beast so gruesome that seemingly not even the combined strength of the Isari villagers can drive it away. Slay the sea monster before ill befalls Nayoshi.
- Before Nayoshi is a shiranui. It is, however, no match for you and is quickly defeated. the danger now gone, approach the quivering Nayoshi and assure him he is safe.
- Nayoshi is very grateful to you for saving him. It seems that he has a long history of reeling beasts, instead of fish, ashore. This one, however, was far worse than any he has been forced to encounter in the past. Telling you he would like to give you a gift in exchange for rescuing him, he asks that you accompany him back to the village.
- As you are making your way back to the village, Nayoshi is accosted by a group of angry fishermen. They have finally had enough of the beasts he continually reels in from the sea and insist that he quit fishing. He tries to argue that this will deprive him of a means to feed himself but no one─including his childhood friend, Koruri─is willing to listen. Nayoshi turns once again to you for aid. He asks that you soothe the mob of fishermen, starting with Koruri.
- Koruri begins to calm down and tells the other fishermen to return to work while she deals with Nayoshi. After trying and failing to convince him to stop fishing, she gives him an ultimatum: the next time he comes with them he must either catch half the number of fish she does or hang up his rod. the terms have been set and now Nayoshi must rise to the challenge. While terrified, and somewhat addled, he has not forgotten about your gift and asks that you meet him by the boulders that he might give it to you.
- Nayoshi presents you with your gift and assures you that regardless of the obstacles ahead he intends to do what he can to remain a fisherman. with a lot of practice and a bit of help from you will the young man find a way to accomplish his goal or will he be forbidden from ever fishing again?

- Nayoshi gives you a pleading look.
- Nayoshi decides that in order to improve his skills as a fisherman he must begin training and begs you to accompany him. He is afraid that, should his misfortune persist, he will need a strong woman on hand to dispatch of whatever monstrosity he mistakenly drags in from the open waters.
- You quickly put an end to the beast Nayoshi has caught. Go over and reassure the still-trembling fisherman that he no longer has anything to fear.
- Upon seeing you and the slain monster, Nayoshi regains his composure and thanks you for your help. Despite the less-than-stellar results of his first attempt, he is ready to try again. He believes a change of scenery might help to spur his attempts along and asks that you meet him at the southern coast.
- As soon as you join him, Nayoshi pulls out his rod and throws out a line. a few moments later, he reels in another sea beast. Quickly dispatch of it and speak with the young fisherman.
- Nayoshi appears defeated by his lack of progress and asks you for advice on how he might improve his fishing. After a bit of back and forth, the two of you come to the conclusion that he must receive advice from some of the other fishermen. as the village's least productive member, however, he is certain his pleas for help will fall on deaf ears. He requests that you, the woman who delivered Isari from disaster be the one to go around and ask for fishing advice for him.
- You begin by approaching the village's most experienced fisherman─the man who requested that you save Nayoshi from the shiranui. He reveals to you that the best way to catch fish is to observe their behavior and use it to your advantage. the example he gives you of torch fishing, however, can only be employed under a very specific set of circumstances and Nayoshi asks that you ask one of the other nearby fishermen for more practical advice.
- You speak with one of the younger fishermen whose aptitude for fishing has lately gained him village-wide recognition. Upon learning who you are, he is happy to share with you the secret to his remarkable success. He presents you with a wooden fishing lure and tells you that this is the easiest way to attract and catch fish. Saying you can keep it, he wishes you good luck in your fishing endeavors. Nayoshi would like to look at the lure the young fisherman has given you and requests that you meet him behind the large boulders.
- You deliver the lure to Nayoshi, who has been cornered by Koruri. She has come to impart some advice about fishing to Nayoshi. Telling him that he must learn to clear his mind at sea, she suggests he try concentrating solely upon the waves and feeling the rod in his hand. with all the knowledge he has gained, will Nayoshi finally find a way to overcome his troubles?

- Nayoshi is eager to put the wooden fishing lure to the test.
- Nayoshi is certain that the wooden fishing lure is the answer to all his problems and he is eager to give it a try. Follow him to the northeastern cliffs to make sure he does not get too far ahead of himself.
- You catch up to Nayoshi, who has already attempted to use the lure and lost his rod in the process. He explains how shortly after he cast his line, a large fish took the bait. a violent skirmish ensued, and as he attempted to reel it ashore, he was thrown into his barrel. the impact caused him to drop his rod, which was pulled into the sea. Unable to dive into the waters to retrieve it himself, he once again appeals to you for assistance.
- You dive into the nearby waters and after a bit of rooting around you come across Nayoshi's rod, which has settled upon the seabed. with it in hand, you return to where he awaits you.
- As soon as you return Nayoshi's lost property to him, he announces that he will make a second attempt with the wooden lure. After telling you he is certain he is about to catch a big fish, he casts his line. Nayoshi's enthusiasm quickly turns into fear, however, as he pulls a monster ashore.
- Having partially anticipated this would happen, you quickly slay the hooked bombfish that has appeared, and its lifeless corpse falls to the ground. Nayoshi is visibly disappointed by the results of his latest fishing attempt. Perhaps you should speak with him.
- Koruri, having seen everything from afar, approaches you and Nayoshi. She chides the fisherman, saying he must quickly dispose of the monster's remains before they start to attract other wild animals. Nayoshi decides to burn the bombfish using the broken barrel, but the wood is still slightly wet and sparks he strikes do not fully take. Seeing this, he tells you he will return to the village to retrieve dry planks and asks that you place the corpse into the cask while he is away.
- The damp planks that are still smoldering from Nayoshi's initial attempts to set them on fire, burst into flames the moment you lower the bombfish corpse into the broken barrel. This takes everyone by surprise, and the three of you speculate what could have generated the fire.
- You conclude that the hooked bombfish is a fatty creature and the layers of grease in its body are what caused the whimpering flames to grow into a roaring fire. Nayoshi, however, seems indifferent to this observation and simply stares down sadly at the pile of ash, where he claims his unfulfilled dreams now rest. He then declares he will never again touch a fishing rod and will be leaving the village of Isari behind for good. While he seems determined, Koruri and you are left wondering if that is truly the answer...

- Nayoshi is ready to renounce fishing for good.
- Nayoshi declares that he will be departing from the village immediately. He would, however, like to give you one final gift and asks that you meet him at your usual spot by the boulders shortly.
- Your conversation with Nayoshi is derailed by the distant cries of the villagers. from the snatches you are able to catch, you surmise ill has befallen Koruri. Nayoshi, hearing this, rushes off. You best follow him.
- You catch up to Nayoshi who is standing outside of a hut in which Koruri is receiving treatment. According to one of the other villagers, the young girl nearly drowned and is currently in critical condition. Her body temperature is dropping fast, but the fire they made is not near hot enough to warm her. Nayoshi, however, has a solution: he will catch another fatty hooked bombfish and throw it in the fire. He, of course, will need you to accompany him to kill the beast he fishes from the sea.
- You quickly dispatch of the hooked bombfish Nayoshi reels in and the two of you now have a greasy corpse with which to feed the fire. Speak with Nayoshi to see what he would have you do next.
- Nayoshi is overjoyed by your victory over the bombfish but wastes no time celebrating. He would have you hurry back with him to the hut and deliver the corpse to the villagers tending the fires that will save Koruri.
- You deliver the bombfish corpse to the girl outside the hut. She is convinced the layers of fat in its body will give life to the fires, and thanks you and Nayoshi for your services.
- Koruri has awoken, but it does little to assuage Nayoshi's feelings of guilt. He declares again─this time to the entire village─that he shall be departing from Isari for good. One of the elders, however, stops him. He believes Nayoshi's ability to catch hooked bombfish may be the key to reviving torch fishing and restoring the small fishing community to its former glory. - Asari is eager to speak with you.
- Asari stops you to say that great things are on the horizon for the small village of Isari, and everyone is incredibly excited about being able to torch fish again. or at least, everyone but Nayoshi, who has lately been spending most of his free time sulking. Asking that you go and speak to him to learn what is wrong, she points in the direction of the large boulders.
- The fishermen have been working together to defeat the hooked bombfish Nayoshi reels in from the sea, but he fears that due to their inexperience with fighting, it is only a matter of time before someone comes to harm. He begs you to teach them some basic combat maneuvers and, when you agree, rushes off to round up the fishermen.
- When you rendezvous with Nayoshi, he tells you the combat lessons must wait. One of the boats that went torch fishing the night prior has gone missing, and the villagers suspect it is the doing of the Kojin of the Red or sea monsters. as humble fishermen, however, they stand little chance of winning a fight against either and decide they must turn to outside help. One of the elderly fishermen reveals that, in the days of eld they would often turn to the Confederates for aid. Hearing this, Nayoshi asks that you introduce him to Tsukikage that he might appeal to him for assistance.
- The Confederates and one of the fishermen they dragged out of the water tell you that the Kojin of the Red attacked the torch fishing boat and took everyone aboard it prisoner. Agreeing to lend you aid, Tsukikage asks that you create a distraction using fireworks at the Isle of Zekki while he, Suzume, Hansaku, and Nayoshi go to save the captives.
- As per Tsukikage's instructions, you find an open area on the Isle of Zekki to place and light the firecrackers. They explode and draw a few Kojin of the Red lurking close by out of hiding. You quickly dispatch of them and, deeming your distraction a success, you begin making your way to Hells' Lid, where you are to rendezvous with Tsukikage and the others.
- You encounter Tsukikage, who is alone at Hells' Lid and at the mercy of Red Kojin. Quickly neutralize the threat that he might be saved.
- Tsukikage tells you of how their group was attacked by a group of Red Kojin as they were retreating. the others escaped with the fishermen, while he stayed behind to neutralize the threat. the hostile Kojin, however, proved far stronger than he anticipated and he would likely have been overwhelmed by them had you not arrived when you did. Thanking you for your help, the Confederate treasurer then bids that you go with him to Isari to make sure everyone arrived safely.
- You return to Isari, where you are informed that all the fishermen have retired to their homes to rest. the Red Kojin attack has, however, raised a very important question among the remaining men and women: should their village give up on torch fishing for good? Just as the natives resign themselves to quitting, Tsukikage steps forward with a suggestion. in exchange for some of their bombfish oil, he will agree to protect their boats at night and even send men to help slay the beasts. Thus, an agreement is struck among the inhabitants of the Ruby Sea.
