  • You gather the scattered rose hips with great care. Return them to Samiane and set her mind at ease.

  • A wounded animal is a dangerous animal, and the White Ram convalescing in Fallgourd Float fits the bill. Whatever Isaudorel has in mind, best to say yes.
  • Laid up at an inn after being wounded by the Ixal, Isaudorel has no choice but to ask another to hunt down the scouts. They should still be to the northeast of Fallgourd Float, living off wild game. Hide yourself near the antelope carcass, and slay the Ixali wildtalons when they appear.
  • The hunters become the hunted, and the wildtalons prove no match for your road-hardened ferity. Take a moment to reflect on whether you are growing too steely for your own good, then report the kill to Isaudorel.
  • Isaudorel is sincerely grateful for your work. Clearly, the thought of those two wildtalons at large had weighed on his mind. Listening to him plot further vengeance, it occurs to you that in wounding Isaudorel, the Ixal have made him twice as dangerous...

He also broaches the subject of a peculiar fellow down at Buscarron's Druthers. For the past several days, this drunkard has been spouting nonsense of the supernatural, and mumbling about you. Assuming you two to be friends, the Wood Wailer asks that you go to the Druthers and see what you can do to console this ale-sodden soul.
  • You find the gentleman in question who, failing to look up from his mug, demands you bring him another bottle of ale. However, when he hops down from his chair, you realize it is Paiyo Reiyo, whom you once rescued from the Tam-Tara Deepcroft. He tells you he has been plagued by thoughts of Edda ever since and is taken aback when you tell him of your encounter with the fallen mage in the Palace of the Dead. You hand him her engagement ring and a look of remorse passes his face. After a few moments, he then asks you to accompany him outside.
  • Tormented night after night by nightmares of Edda and her beloved, Paiyo Reiyo had decided to hold a small remembrance service for them, hoping to lay their spirits to rest. The problem, however, was that there were no bodies to bury─a problem for which he found a solution the moment he thought of Edda's ring. He plans to use their engagement rings for the service. All he requires now is Avere's ring, which just so happens to be in the river near Buscarron's Druthers.

  • Having lain the rings gently in the soil, Paiyo Reiyo offers up a prayer, hoping Edda and Avere have at last found peace in the great beyond. He thanks you and promptly takes his leave, heart unburdened and mind at ease. As you turn to follow, a soft wind blows, carrying what sounds like a whisper on the breeze. He duly rejects the alchemist's appeal out of hand, and demands that you help him apply the finishing touches to his latest brainchild: a kettle valuable enough to pay off his debts and restore his renown in one fell swoop. For this masterwork, he apparently requires fifty pieces of alexandrite...
  • Having taken receipt of the alexandrite, Gerolt wastes no time finishing his masterpiece, and with a bang and a clang, he presents to you a kettle of breathtaking quality. Drawn by the clamor of hammer and anvil, Jalzahn then comes to inspect Gerolt's work. Though reasonably impressed, the alchemist declares that the kettle is not yet of a standard befitting the creator of a Zodiac Weapon, and duly offers to help Gerolt improve it. For this purpose, he requests that you furnish him with ten bottles of Thavnairian mist.
  • Through the power of alchemy, the kettle is reborn, a vision of culinary perfection. Eager to test their masterpiece, Gerolt and Jalzahn triumphantly set about making tea, only for Drake to appear, his face a picture of dismay. Having been forced to expedite a large order of kettles, the young apprentice admits to having forsaken quality for quantity, producing wares which he fears will have customers up in arms. Though Gerolt and Jalzahn say nothing, both cannot help noticing that Drake's offerings perform markedly better than their own. When Drake subsequently departs, head hung in shame, both blacksmith and alchemist loudly proclaim their intention to begin their work in earnest. Jalzahn duly decides to infuse the kettle with an aether-rich elixir, but requires an Inferno fragment, Vortex fragment, and Crag fragment to complete the task. Gerolt bids you good luck as they prepare for the next phase of their plan.
  • You brave scorching flames, gale-force winds, and terrible tremors to procure the materials needed for Gerolt's kettle. Hurry back to Hyrstmill that he may at last complete his magnum opus.
  • Thanks to your efforts, Gerolt and Jalzahn are able to combine their skills to create what is undoubtedly the zenith of kitchen utensils─Ultimate Kettle Nexus. Gerolt is especially overjoyed at the sight, knowing his return to fame is all but assured. With eerily impeccable timing, however, Drake appears once again, bearing more unfortunate news. According to him, this particular kettle was requested just over two years ago, the order having long since been canceled. Hearing this, Gerolt is predictably inconsolable, lamenting the millions of gil that would have ensured his freedom from debt. Jalzahn, meanwhile, is furious. Before you know it, the pair begin exchanging words and then blows, succeeding at last in rendering each other unconscious. In light of all that has occurred, Drake suggests you keep the kettle as a token of thanks for your well-intentioned help.

  • Brother E-Sumi-Yan requires your assistance in a matter he thought long since put to rest.
  • A worried Brother E-Sumi-Yan reveals that the stirring of a hostile presence within the walls of the Lost City of Amdapor has prompted the Twelveswood's elementals to abandon their efforts to cleanse the ruins. Travel to Camp Tranquil in the South Shroud and answer Raya-O-Senna's plea for assistance.

  • Brother E-Sumi-Yan arrives at Camp Tranquil just as you announce your return to Raya-O-Senna. After hearing the tale of your expedition, the Padjals speculate that the animated statues you encountered may have begun to stir when darkness last took hold within the ruins. And when the elementals subsequently entered the city, the Amdapori sentinels likely perceived the purely aetherial beings as voidsent invaders of the kind often employed by the city of Mhach. The incident thus explained, and the defenses safely disabled, the Padjals may now resume the task of returning the ancient city to the embrace of the forest.

  • The Wood Wailers are confounded by a recent find in the Palace of the Dead.
  • During a recent expedition, the Wood Wailers were shocked to discover notes they believe to be penned by Nybeth Obdilord, the dread sorcerer who raised the Palace of the Dead. Knowing you had the misfortune of meeting him in person, they would consult with you regarding the contents of the documents. An expeditionary awaits you by the entrance to Issom-Har.
  • The expeditionary explains to you that he and his fellow Wood Wailers are puzzled by the strange script of the documents, which he surmises originated in a foreign land. E-Una-Kotor, having communed with the elementals, believes they are not from another land, but another world entirely. Taking the notes in hand, visions of Nybeth and Edda suddenly flash before your eyes. It would appear that his true purpose in building the palace was to master the art of resurrection, giving him the power to bring his lover back from the dead. E-Una-Kotor finds such a motive implausible, but with the dark sorcerer slain, the truth now remains buried in the hallowed grounds beneath Issom-Har.

Objectives

  • Speak with the expeditionary.
