  • In order to test your understanding of the basics, Sisipu has bid you catch five Lominsan anchovies. These fish can be found in the waters surrounding Limsa Lominsa, including those directly outside the Fishermen's Guild.
  • Before Sisipu can appraise your anchovies, Guildmaster Wawalago makes an appearance to do it for her. The fisherwoman takes the opportunity to chide the netmaster for neglecting his duties, but Wawalago remains unfazed. In any case, the two of them acknowledge your mastery of the fishing fundamentals, and encourage you to expand your horizons. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu upon reaching level 5.

  • During a heated debate with Wawalago over the proper way to prepare princess trout, Sisipu lets slip that she may have had ulterior motives for sending you to the Nym. Putting that to one side, she states that this task should have shown the importance of perseverance in your trade. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu upon reaching level 15.

  • Sisipu could use a helping hand with an unexpected order.
  • The Fishermen's Guild has received an order for fresh fish from one of its regular customers, a Qiqirn merchant named Chuchuroon. However, it is unclear what fish Chuchuroon desires, which is why Sisipu has bid you speak with the client.
  • You are no more successful than Sisipu at discerning the fish Chuchuroon glimpsed in the water, and the words “silver” and “jumping” appear to be your only clues. Consult with Sisipu about how you might proceed.
  • Sisipu is equally perplexed by the description, but believes Wawalago may be able to elucidate. Seek him out at his spot in front of the Fishermen's Guild.
  • Drawing on his vast knowledge of fish, Wawalago has determined that the Navigator's dagger is the fish Chuchuroon seeks. Use rat tails to fish five out of the waters near the Brewer's Beacon in western La Noscea and deliver them to Chuchuroon.
  • The sight─and smell─of the Navigator's daggers put Chuchuroon over the moon with joy. Speak with Sisipu again to find out her opinion on your hard day's work.
  • Sisipu expresses relief at having someone both capable and reliable in you, albeit by bemoaning the lack of such traits among the other members of the guild. Take heart from her praise and continue to hone your skills should she require your assistance again. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu upon reaching level 20.

  • While Chuchuroon is capable of catching fish himself, he lacks the patience to do so without first consuming his supply of bait. To show him that lures can be just as effective as live bait, Sisipu would have you catch five warmwater trout off the shores of Oakwood in upper La Noscea using crow flies. When you've done so, show Chuchuroon your catch.
  • Your lure-fishing exploits have taught Chuchuroon a valuable lesson about the deceptive nature of your profession. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu upon reaching level 25.

The fish can be found in the waters surrounding Fallgourd Float in the North Shroud.

  • Tocktix describes to you the circumstances under which he glimpsed the desired fish, though he himself is unsure what kind it is. Relay Tocktix's description of the fish to Wawalago to ascertain what needs to be done.
  • Wawalago posits that fullmoon sardines are the fish of which Tocktix speaks─a fish that can only be caught after sunset. Use spoon worms to catch ten sardines along Bloodshore and deliver them to Tocktix at the Fishermen's Guild.
  • Tocktix is delighted to receive the fullmoon sardines, and in a fit of joy he proclaims you a legendary fishbringer. Let Sisipu know the commission is complete.
  • Sisipu concurs with Tocktix that your exploits merit a title, but believes there may be an alternative preferable to fishbringer. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu upon reaching level 35.

  • The merchant Tocktix has returned to the Fishermen's Guild once more, this time in search of a desert catfish, which is a key ingredient in one of his favorite dishes. Unaware how a fisher might pull anything from sand, Sisipu recommends that you seek out U'goromuli, a dunefishing acquaintance of Tocktix's and a resident of Forgotten Springs in southern Thanalan.
  • Though she would never eat desert catfish herself, U'goromuli is more than happy to assist you. She advises you to seek out a fishing hole east of Byregot's Strike, near an Amalj'aa encampment, and use sand leeches to catch your quarry. Once acquired, deliver the fish to Tocktix outside the Fishermen's Guild.
  • Tocktix is ecstatic to receive his prized gourmet catfish. He promptly informs you that he shall waste no time in taking it to the Bismarck, where he has reserved a table for one after closing. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu upon reaching level 40.

  • In an effort to satisfy the needs of wealthy Ul'dahns, the Consortium seeks five raincallers, which are said to possess certain desirable properties. Raincallers can be fished out of Gridania's Jadeite Flood with stem borers, but only when rain falls, hence their name. Procure the fish and deliver them to the Sybell.

  • Sisipu wishes to assign to you another commission from the Brugaire Consortium.
  • Sisipu hopes that you haven't forgotten your humble roots, despite your recent successes. One such success has earned you a repeat customer, as Sybell of the Brugaire Consortium has come to the guild once more and is waiting outside to commission your services.
  • The Consortium's latest request is for five cloud cutters, a curious flying fish said to thrive within the Sea of Clouds in Ishgard. So that you might learn how to catch your quarry, Sybell instructs you to seek the advice of Firminnant at Whitebrim Front in the Coerthas central highlands.
  • Though he clearly does not think you will succeed, Firminnant instructs you to bait your hook with hoverworms, then cast your line into the Sea of Clouds. Should you manage to catch five cloud cutters, return to Limsa Lominsa and deliver them to Sisipu.
  • Sisipu is intrigued that the cloud cutters truly exist, and that you were able to catch them. Her awe quickly turns to annoyance as the incorrigible Wawalago appears and shares with her one of many rumors regarding the mysterious past of the Consortium's client. Never one to be distracted by rumormongering, however, Sisipu declares that she will simply deliver the fish. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu upon reaching level 50.

  • Sisipu needs your help with an emergency.
  • The recent sighting of a gigantic sea serpent off the coast of La Noscea has prompted the Maelstrom to ban all fishing until further notice. Sisipu has bid you speak with Sybell, who may possess more information, as the Brugaire Consortium has close ties to the Maelstrom.
  • Sybell relates to you the legend of Swallowtail Roam, in which Llymlaen imprisoned a fearsome sea serpent that threatened to flood the whole of creation, thus giving rise to the Lominsan motto “till sea swallows all.” Though it is unlikely that the serpent spotted was the beast of eld, it has nevertheless sparked a panic to which the Maelstrom has been forced to respond. To discern the true nature of the beast, Sybell suggests seeking out the source of the sea serpent rumors, Chuchuroon.
  • Chuchuroon mentions having shared his story with Wawalago, who has a demonstrated knack for deciphering the Qiqirn's observations. Speak with the netmaster and see what he has to say.
  • Wawalago believes a Mazlaya marlin can clear up the misunderstanding. However, the act of catching one will require double mooching, one of the most difficult techniques a fisherwoman can employ. Use a goby ball to catch a quality harbor herring along north Bloodshore, recast the herring to catch an ogre barracuda, then recast the barracuda to at last catch a Mazlaya marlin. Once accomplished, deliver your prize to Sisipu at the Fishermen's Guild.
  • You and your associates meet with Grand Storm Marshal Eynzahr Slafyrsyn aboard one of the Brugaire Consortium's vessels, where you present to him the Mazlaya marlin. The grand storm marshal subsequently reveals that while he never believed the rumors to be true, he required evidence before he could lift the ban─evidence which you so skillfully acquired. Having put an end to the sea serpent panic, speak with Sisipu to hear her thoughts on what has transpired.
  • Sisipu is uncharacteristically grateful and complimentary, noting that you have saved the Lominsan fishing industry from financial ruin at the hands of an imaginary sea serpent. She is especially pleased by what she believes might be your single greatest contribution to the Fishermen's Guild: luring Wawalago back to work. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu once you have met the following requirements: ※ You must have registered a product key for FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward to your service account. ※ You must have completed the main scenario quest “Before the Dawn.”

  • Sisipu has a rod in her hand and a cloud on her brow.
  • Sisipu entrusts you with an important mission─to return a forgotten fishing rod to its absent-minded owner. Ansaulme, the rodless rover in question, is an authority on far-flung fishing holes. Hurry to the Drowning Wench to return the rod to Ansaulme before he journeys on.
  • Ansaulme is delighted to be reunited with his most faithful companion, and is fascinated to hear of your achievements in the field of fishing. He is eager to discuss the subject in more depth, but as he cannot linger in Limsa Lominsa as long as he would like, he invites you to his hometown to continue the conversation. Journey to Ishgard and meet with Ansaulme in the Forgotten Knight to learn more of the fishing holes of his homeland.

  • Ansaulme is eager to share some exciting information with a fellow fisher.
  • News has reached Ansaulme that a school of icepicks, fish as defiant as they are delicious, has been sighted in a secluded fishing hole in the Coerthas western highlands. Eager to show you the sights of his homeland, as well as pit his wits against such a fractious fish, he bids you meet with him by the north entrance of Falcon's Nest, whence he will guide you to the fishing hole in question.
  • You make the appointed rendezvous with Ansaulme, only to learn that he has already been to the fishing hole and back. While awaiting your arrival, a fellow fisher named Reyna engaged him in a fish-off─a competition that he duly lost, catching only a single high-quality icepick to Reyna's two. Eager to silence the fisherwoman's taunts, he asks you to catch three high-quality icepicks to steal Reyna's thunder. The fish can be found in an unfrozen pond in the Gorgagne Holding, to the north of Falcon's Nest.
  • You dutifully deliver the trio of icepicks to Ansaulme, beating Reyna's record and confirming your place at the top table of the fishing fraternity. As a reward for your efforts, Reyna tells you a tale of a chocobo hunter who angled from a floating island, opening your eyes to a new way of fishing. The bait Ansaulme gave you as his own reward may serve you well should you wish to try your hand at cloudfishing, and pluck fish from the skies themselves. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Ansaulme upon reaching level 55.

  • Ansaulme is on the lookout for a suitable substitute.
  • Ansaulme has received an urgent request from your mutual friend Reyna─she has a problem that only one with superlative angling ability can solve. However, as Ansaulme's own business will keep him in Ishgard for the foreseeable future, he asks you to respond to the summons in his place. Meet with Reyna in Tailfeather, the chocobo hunters' camp in the Dravanian forelands, and see what trouble is afoot.
  • Reyna tells you of the crisis affecting the camp: a school of carnivorous catfish has made its way into the local river system and is fast devouring the fish the colony relies on for its evening meals. Despite their best efforts to catch the invasive wavekin, the chocobo hunters are better archers than anglers, and could benefit from the tuition of a practiced fisherwoman. Reyna bids you follow the Whilom River to the north and rendezvous with the Tailfeather hunter leading the extermination effort. He will brief you as to where the elusive shadowhiskers can be found.
  • The Tailfeather hunter informs you that the shadowhiskers have made their lair in the basin of the Hundred Throes. He asks you to catch three high-quality specimens to show the increasingly exasperated hunters how it is done. Once you have caught the creatures, return your haul to Reyna to make proof of your success.
  • Reyna is overjoyed to see what an excellent example you have set the chocobo hunters─now that they are armed with your advice, the shadowhiskers' days are surely numbered. She is eager to reward you in the same manner as before, but despite racking her brains for a suitably fascinating fishing story, she draws a blank. In her desperation, she turns to Sten, a chocobo hunter of notorious taciturnity. To Reyna's great surprise, he recounts a tale of Far Eastern hellfishing the likes of which she has never heard. Keen to try the sport for herself, she asks you to return to Ansaulme to see if he has any knowledge of the magma worms Sten mentioned in his story.
  • Ansaulme has not only heard of the worms in question, but he has a few of the creatures in his possession. He gives them to you as a reward for responding to Reyna's request on his behalf. Should you wish to try your hand at hellfishing, Ansaulme advises you to travel to the far reaches of the Dravanian forelands, to the fiery lands where the dragons dwell. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Ansaulme upon reaching level 58.

Objectives

  • Ansaulme would engage your assistance in a matter of life and death.
  • You walk in on Ansaulme speaking with an elderly Elezen he has known since he was a boy. For many years, the man has happily served as the head chef of Rougecarpe Manor, but his master's recent passing has ushered in a wave of tyranny at the hands of the lord's second son. The new lord regent has demanded to be served a platter of highest-quality letter puffer at his next banquet, a fish thought to be long extinct. Should the chef fail to provide the fish, his life will be forfeit. Ansaulme bids you return to Limsa Lominsa and speak with Sisipu, fount of all fishy knowledge, to see if she has any information as to where the fish might be found.
  • Sisipu's studies lead her to believe that if any letter puffers are extant today, they would be found to the west of Ishgard, in the clouds of Dravania. She suggests you travel to the Churning Mists, and seek further guidance from the local residents.
  • You meet with Mogtoe, who suggests that you speak with Mogukk, the most avid angler in Moghome. He has recently been seen flying north on yet another fishing expedition. Search for Mogukk north of Moghome, and ask if he knows aught of the letter puffers' whereabouts.
  • Mogukk informs you that letter puffers are indeed indigenous to the Churning Mists. A few moons prior, he had the misfortune of catching one of the elusive creatures in the clouds around the Landlord Colony. If you should manage to reel in a high-quality specimen, he would be interested to see it for himself.
  • You show the letter puffer to Mogukk, who is delighted to see such a splendid specimen. As a reward for your efforts, he tells you a tale of a magical floating island, where strange fish swim in pools of aetherochemical effluent, sustaining themselves on a diet of fiend worms. If the tale is true, perhaps these worms could be used to hook the creatures from their peculiar pools? But now is not the time to be thinking of aetherfishing─deliver the letter puffer to Ansaulme before his friend meets an untimely end.
  • Ansaulme gratefully accepts the letter puffer and hands it to his old friend, warning him of its poisonous entrails. However, to the chef's shock, Ansaulme goes on to suggest that he use the fish's venom sac to poison the lord regent. In the ensuing exchange, Ansaulme confesses that the tyrannical regent is in fact his younger brother, making him the rightful heir to House Rougecarpe. He pledges to bring an end to his brother's reign of terror by finally accepting his inheritance. After satisfying his old friend that his travails are nearly over, Ansaulme turns the conversation back to his favorite subject─fish. You tell him how you caught the letter puffer, and the story Mogukk told you in return. To your great surprise, Ansaulme produces a sample of the fiend worms Mogukk spoke of, lending credence to the moogle's outlandish tale. If you should ever find your way to the floating continent, the vilekin would surely make the perfect bait for a spot of aetherfishing. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Ansaulme upon reaching level 60.

Objectives

  • Ask the residents of Moghome for information.
  • Speak with Mogukk.

  • Ansaulme is agonizing over how to reclaim his birthright.
  • Just as you engage Ansaulme in conversation, Reyna enters with uncharacteristic solemnity and reveals that Ansaulme's brother has asked her to assassinate him. Ansaulme is surprisingly pleased by this development, reasoning that his smallfolk will be safer if his brother's ire is directed at him. However, on learning that the lord regent also plans to lay waste to House Rougecarpe's ancestral fishing holes, his resolve to oust his brother hardens. In order to assume his lordship, he would need to prove his identity beyond doubt, and the only way to do so is to present the Rougecarpe Ring─the ancient treasure of his house passed down from father to son since time immemorial. Unfortunately, Ansaulme accidentally gifted this ring to the Sea of Clouds, where it was swallowed by a passing cloudfish. Trusting in the proclivity of fishermen to boast about any unusual catch, he bids you return to Dravania and ask your moogle friend Mogukk if he has heard any word of a ring being found in a fish.
  • You speak with Mogukk, who knows the story all too well, for it was he who caught the fish that swallowed Ansaulme's ring. Unfortunately, he lost the ring in a wager with a large, beaked beastman. He bids you return to Ansaulme and apologize for the loss of the ring on his behalf.
  • Ansaulme recognizes the beaked beastman from Mogukk's tale as a Vanu Vanu, a race of birdmen native to the Abalathian Sea of Clouds. He bids you join him in Camp Cloudtop to track down the feathered fisherman.
  • You meet with Ansaulme in the Sea of Clouds, who informs you that a Vanu fisherman has been sighted on a floating island to the east. Knowing that the Vanu Vanu are wary of outsiders, he has brought a highly polished rod to give to the beastman by way of breaking the ice. Track down the Vanu fisherman and present him with Ansaulme's gift.
  • You give the rod to Tona Vanu and convince him to part with the Rougecarpe Ring. Unfortunately, he has already done so─the ring has again been swallowed by a ferocious fish. The only way to retrieve it is to catch the catkiller in question. Catch a bullfrog in the Eddies, then mooch with it to catch the catkiller. Ansaulme anxiously awaits your return in Voor Sian Siran.
  • You present the catkiller to Ansaulme, and after a quick incision from Tona Vanu's knife, the Rougecarpe Ring is reclaimed. In recognition of your commitment to the angling art, Tona Vanu grants you the use of his floating fishing hole. As Ansaulme prepares to reclaim his rightful seat and secure the safety of his people, the party gazes over the peaceful pool─an angler's paradise, cut off from the worries of the world, where fishing fanatics can practice their pastime in peace. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Sisipu once you have met the following requirements: ※ You must have registered a product key for FINAL FANTASY XIV: Stormblood to your service account. ※ You must have completed the main scenario quest “The Far Edge of Fate.”

  • Master Wawalago's dubious deportment of late has Sisipu duly distressed.
  • As Sisipu tells it, Master Wawalago has been acting awfully suspicious of late, sneaking surreptitiously out of the city at strange hours of the night. Concerned that the guildmaster may have gotten himself mixed up in something shady, she enlists your services in going to the man and sizing up what exactly is going on.
  • Somewhat stung to hear that Sisipu is on to him despite his best efforts to keep his secret, Master Wawalago nevertheless is quick to assure you that nothing suspicious is afoot. On the contrary, he has simply been going out to converse with a companion who seeks his counsel─a companion who, he expresses, might be eager to meet you as well. He asks you to assure Sisipu that all is well, then join him and his friend at the Gods' Grip.
  • Though not particularly pleased at Wawalago's deception and unwillingness to disclose the details of his dealings with this enigmatic acquaintance of his, Sisipu is nevertheless heartened to hear that the guildmaster is well, and that you will be accompanying him to the Gods' Grip to ensure that he doesn't get into any deeply dire straits.
  • Meeting Wawalago at the Gods' Grip, you are quickly joined by Govv, a young Sahagin who befriended Master Wawalago after ending up on the wrong end of his fishing line. Recently, Govv is gravely concerned at the sudden and surprising disappearance of a particularly striking species of fish known as “the shooting star of the seas” in the Sahagin tongue. With a clear vote of confidence from the guildmaster, Govv accepts your aid, and goes off to collect more information that could help you ascertain where the fish may have absconded to. In the meantime, Wawalago would return to Limsa before Sisipu gets wise to his current whereabouts.
  • Back at Fisherman's Bottom, Wawalago relates his rationale for keeping his dealings with Govv a secret from Sisipu. He explains that the girl's home was once raided by the Sahagin when she was young, and he seeks only to spare her from reliving the pain of her past. Stating his intention to seek out more information on the fish─such as its name in your own tongue─he encourages you to partake in a spot of fishing to further focus your mind on the task at hand. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Wawalago upon reaching level 63.

  • Master Wawalago is drastically degenerating into disquiet.
  • As the visibly galled guildmaster tells it, Govv had an epiphany of sorts and took off on his own towards Gyr Abania, heading towards the Velodyna River which flows through the valley. Wawalago can only assume the river has some connection with the shooting stars' disappearance from La Noscean waters, but he is worried for the beastman's safety in distant lands where his kind rarely venture. He implores you to give chase after Govv to ensure that the spirited Sahagin does not get into trouble. Before that, however, the two of you decide to make for Pike Falls to meet one of your angler acquaintances from Coerthas, whose help Wawalago has beseeched in the business of tracking down the disappearing fish.
  • The capable cooperator enlisted by Wawalago happens to be none other than Reyna, fisher by day and assassin by night. While her investigation has turned up valid insights into the disappearance of the shooting stars, Govv dismisses her findings as a fabrication, on the basis that shorewalkers like you and Reyna possess only a superficial understanding of matters of the sea. Seeking to give Govv a taste of humility, Reyna proposes a contest to demonstrate the full depths of your angling expertise. Reel in three deep Velodyna carp before Govv does to prove that you are as capable a fisher as he.
  • You easily win your fishing contest against Govv, who─as an ocean-dweller─is not acclimated to freshwater fishing. With the humbled Sahagin now offering a more receptive ear, Reyna elaborates on her findings, that the Sahagins' so-called shooting stars are likely the same schools of migratory fish that can be found further east, although the actual location of their spawning beds remains unknown. As she seeks further information from fishers in the region, she asks you to relay the news in full to Guildmaster Wawalago.
  • You relay the details of Reyna's investigations to Wawalago, along with the story of your little contest with Govv, which amuses the old guildmaster greatly. After spending a moment to fawn over Reyna's formidable faculty for fishing─along with her many other alluring assets─Wawalago bids you bide your time until she contacts the guild with any further information. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Wawalago upon reaching level 65.

Objectives

  • Meet with the fishing enthusiast at Pike Falls.
  • Catch three deep Velodyna carp.
  • Report to Wawalago at Fisherman's Bottom.

  • The smitten smile on Wawalago's face suggests he's received a report from Reyna.
  • An eager and excited Wawalago explains to you that Reyna has narrowed down the possible location of the shooting stars' spawning beds to a region in the Ruby Sea. He expresses an onze of envy as he enlightens you that Reyna will be waiting in the port town of Kugane, in the far-flung land of Hingashi.
  • Reyna's reconnaissance among the local fishermen has borne fruit in the form of the true name of the Sahagin's so-called shooting stars, known to the Hingan people as the harutsuge. Unfortunately, the name was all she could garner from her conversations, as none had seen the harutsuge's schools swimming in the vicinity as of late. Reyna then suggests speaking with another tribe talented in fishing─namely the Kojin, who are well acquainted with the Far Eastern depths. Make for Tamamizu to see if these turtlish types can tell you any more about the precise location of the spawning beds.
  • After you free Govv from the Kojin fishing net in which he had unfortunately found himself, his captor conveys to you that the prized fish's place of origin is like to be found near Shoal Rock─though their numbers in the open seas have been dwindling day by day and year by year. As impassioned as ever, Govv hurls himself headfirst into the deep unknown while Reyna asks you to join her at the Isle of Bekko to form a more solid plan.
  • Reyna would have you capture a handful of harutsuge sprags in order to glean further knowledge of the cause of their disappearance. She asks you to use utmost caution in catching three from the waters near Shoal Rock.
  • You hand over the sprags to Reyna, who places them in a bucket bound for Coerthas, where she and Ansaulme would further observe their condition and behavior. Govv is overcome with joy at the sight of the tiny red fish, and expresses his appreciation to you and Reyna for your part in locating their spawning grounds. Reyna asks you to return to the guild to relay the triumphant tidings to Wawalago.
  • While Wawalago is delighted that you succeeded in finding and capturing the fish, he laments his lack of ability to assist you and Reyna further in your mission, as he has been finding it more and more frustrating to keep Sisipu at bay. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Wawalago upon reaching level 68.

Objectives

  • Join Reyna in Kugane.
  • Speak with the Kojin at Tamamizu.
  • Join Reyna on the Isle of Bekko.
  • Catch three harutsuge sprags .
  • Report to Wawalago at Fisherman's Bottom.

  • Master Wawalago is examining you with an expectant eye.
  • Wawalago excitedly explains that he's received a missive from Reyna, who is eager to share what she and her colleagues have learned from their inspection of the harutsuge sprags you successfully snared for her. Unable to contain his eagerness to meet the lovely lass with a passion for all things piscine, the guildmaster also states his intentions to steal away from the watchful eye of Sisipu and join you. Make your way to the Gods' Grip to see what manner of enlightening knowledge the fishing enthusiasts have gleaned.
  • Wawalago is moderately dismayed to be greeted not by the gorgeous Reyna but rather her colleague Ansaulme, but quickly puts aside his qualms to inquire as to Ishgardian anglers' latest findings. Ansaulme relates their findings, such as they are: to wit, that they could determine no anomalies with the waters of the Ruby Sea from the specimens you secured. When the guildmaster then surmises that this could only mean that the problem can be traced to their spawning grounds, Ansaulme is impressed by his powers of deduction, encouraging Wawalago to travel to the Far East to investigate for himself. As the guildmaster hems and haws, Sisipu appears, chastising him for his insensitivity to her true feelings and giving him her blessings to make the journey eastward. You make for the fishing village of Isari to gather what information you can in advance of the guildmaster's arrival in Kugane.
  • In Isari, an elderly fisherman by the name of Jisho shares with you an intriguing bit of history. Before the Garleans came, the Isari fishermen joined with their Kojin friends to hold a yearly event known as the Wadatsumi festival. The festivities involved catching fearsome sea beasts known as giant plesiosaurs and offering them in tribute to the kami of the seas, that calm might return to the oceans. Traditional religious practices, however, were outlawed twenty-five years ago when the Garleans came, and the bonds of friendship between Isari and the Kojin gradually faded away. You set off for Kugane to share this enlightening information with Master Wawalago.
  • Upon hearing your tale, Master Wawalago quickly deduces that the outlawing of the festival has resulted in an overpopulation of plesiosaurs, who doubtless are preying upon harutsuge hatchlings before they can reach full size. As such, it would stand to reason that reviving the festival would restore the harutsuge to the seas. Together with your companions, you make for the shores near Namai to catch yourselves some dafangshi, that you might present them to the Kojin in return for their cooperation in bringing back the festivities of old.
  • Wawalago encourages you to ensnare three dafangshi, the fish favored by the Kojin, that it might convince them to take part in the revived Wadatsumi festivities. Should you find the task too trying, he suggests you speak with your Kojin friends and learn what you might of their special technique of spearfishing.
  • Employing your spearfishing skills to their fullest, you manage to haul in three dafangshi. Wawalago expresses his admiration and bids you show them to Jisho in Isari, and secure his permission before then persuading the Kojin to take part in the festivities.
  • Jisho is delighted to see the dafangshi, and is nigh brought to tears at the thought that his humble village, which struggled so long under the yoke of the Empire, might at long last see its glory days return. As he calls upon the young ones to begin preparation, he bids you deliver the dafangshi to Tamamizu in his stead.
  • Ukimono is likewise overjoyed at your offering of the dafangshi, saying that nothing would give him greater joy than to restore a beloved tradition of his people's past. This will not happen overnight, however, as the young Kojin himself remembers little of the particulars of the celebration. While Ukimono and Govv round up willing collaborators in Tamamizu, you set off back to Eorzea with Guildmaster Wawalago, who intends to do further research regarding the festivities at the guild.
  • Back at Fisherman's Bottom, Wawalago restates his intent to research the Wadatsumi festival to the best of his abiltiies. He encourages you to make a foray to your favorite fishing hole in the meantime, so that you might be prepared to fish as you have never fished before when the occasion arrives. ※The next fisher quest will be available from Wawalago upon reaching level 70.

  • Gather information from the villagers in Isari.
  • Report to Wawalago in Kugane.
  • Join Wawalago outside Namai.

  • Wawalago's eyes exude elation and excitement.
  • An ecstatic Wawalago explains that he has unearthed a wealth of wisdom on the Wadatsumi festivities, and is ready to make the journey east and lead the revival of this time-honored tradition. Ready for the most intense fishing challenge of your career, you make your way to Kugane to rendezvous with Reyna.
  • You arrive in Kugane to find that Reyna's fellow fishing enthusiast Ansaulme has also taken time away from his struggle for succession to join you and your companions in this grand fishing festival─one that, if all goes according to plan, will also result in the return to the seas of the harutsuge, the shooting stars treasured by the Sahagin. Join Master Wawalago in Isari, and let the festivities begin!
  • In Isari, Wawalago elaborates on the nature of the festival. At its essence a celebration of the spirit of the cooperation between man and Kojin, the ritual will unfold as follows: the Kojin, joined by Govv, will pursue the plesiosaurs from beneath the waves, chasing them to the surface, where the anglers lying in wait will lure them in. As the guildmaster's most proven protégé, you are tasked by Wawalago with hauling in the lion's share of your prized prey. Make for the waters of Onokoro, and do battle with these ferocious fiends of the deep!
  • Together with your companions, you haul in heaping pile of plesiosaurs, pleasing the kami of the deep and restoring peace to the oceans and balance to the natural order of things. Govv grows concerned, however, when he can spy no sign of his precious shooting stars despite the removal of their most puissant predator, and dives into the depths in pursuit. At Wawalago's behest, you join him, and after a brief moment of concern, are treated to the stunning sight of a massive school of young harutsuge swimming all around you. Breathing a sigh of relief, you return to the surface with Govv, taking solace that your efforts were not for naught, and these delightful denizens of the sea will survive and prosper. Back in Isari, Wawalago begins to pontificate on the potential repercussions of your actions today, when he is interrupted by an irate Sisipu, who he neglected to inform of his intent to make the journey east. As the two run off, you turn to your companions with a smile, happy to see man and beastman alike united by a deep love of the sea.

Objectives

  • Speak with Reyna in Kugane.
  • Join Wawalago in Isari.
  • Catch giant plesiosaurs .
