  • Forgemaster H'naanza seeks your assistance in fulfilling a customer's order.
  • It seems an ambitious young armorer by the name of Swithin has overreached himself by accepting an order for a quantity of shields which he plainly cannot produce in the allotted time. Keen to uphold the reputation of the Armorers' Guild, H'naanza has instructed you to help fulfill the order by crafting three bronze hoplons. Synthesize the requested items and deliver them to the forgemaster.
  • Forgemaster H'naanza is impressed by the quality of your shields, and deems you ready to wield the second weapon in the armorer's arsenal: pliers. Thus equipped, continue to hone your skills, and thereby increase your value to the Armorers' Guild. ※The next armorer quest will be available from H'naanza upon reaching level 10.

  • Forgemaster H'naanza wants you to assist a novice armorer who is struggling with the basics of the craft.
  • Granae, a novice armorer, has fallen behind in her task of forging bronze plate. To supplement Granae's work, Forgemaster H'naanza has requested that you craft twelve sheets of bronze plate and deliver them directly to the novice, hoping that your good example might inspire her to display similar diligence.
  • You have delivered the bronze plate to Granae. Her head swimming with visions of the fantastic armor she would forge, it seems the novice deemed her more mundane─though equally important─tasks unworthy of her time and effort. The sight of your exacting work, however, has convinced her otherwise. After promising to improve on her fundamental techniques, Granae suggests that you seek out T'mokkri at the Drowning Wench and try your hand at a few tradecraft leves. ※The next armorer quest will be available from H'naanza upon reaching level 15.

  • Forgemaster H'naanza wishes you to offer a sympathetic ear to a novice armorer.
  • H'naanza is concerned about one of her more diligent novices who is uncharacteristically late with an order. Speak with Dyrstwyda at the Armorers' Guild and learn what has caused the delay.
  • It seems that after being subjected to some withering criticism from Blanstyr, a veteran armorer, Dyrstwyda has lost confidence in her ability. Speak with Blanstyr at the Armorers' Guild and discover what prompted his scathing remark.
  • Before Blanstyr will discuss what prompted him to criticize Dyrstwyda, he demands that you prove your ability as an armorer. Synthesize a decorated bronze barbut and a bronze buckler and deliver them to the veteran artisan.
  • You have delivered the requested pieces to Blanstyr, and thereby earned his grudging respect. Rather than explain his criticism of Dyrstwyda's work, he instead insists that you tell the crestfallen novice to learn to examine her own flaws or turn her back on the forge for good. Return to Dyrstwyda with Blanstyr's “advice.”
  • After hearing Blanstyr's advice, Dyrstwyda seems even more inclined to abandon her dream of becoming a master armorer. Perhaps it wasn't such a good idea to recount his words so faithfully... Return to Forgemaster H'naanza and apprise her of the situation.
  • H'naanza reveals that she and Blanstyr were once apprenticed to the same master, but that an irreconcilable difference of opinion has kept the two armorers at odds for many years. Loath to allow their old rivalry to undermine the unity of the guild, H'naanza pledges to think upon what can be done to resolve the matter once and for all. Continue to hone your skills as an armorer that you might provide support to the forgemaster when the time comes. ※The next armorer quest will be available from H'naanza upon reaching level 20.

  • Forgemaster H'naanza wishes to discuss the issue of Blanstyr and his actions within the guild.
  • The forgemaster has asked you to speak with Blanstyr and glean his opinions on the running of the guild. That the irascible veteran might deem you worthy of his time, H'naanza suggests you offer him proof of your burgeoning skill in the form of a materia-enhanced iron hoplon. Unfortunately, the guild cannot spare the necessary materials, leaving you with two options: buy what you need from Hawkers' Alley, or mine the iron yourself. Should you require an explanation on materia, the forgemaster recommends that you seek the counsel of the goblin Mutamix, who resides at a camp in central Thanalan.
  • You have approached Blanstyr bearing a materia-enhanced iron hoplon. Though notoriously unforgiving of the slightest flaw, the artisan seems well pleased with your work on the shield. After praising your dedication and skill, Blanstyr shares his thoughts on an armorer's duty and on the current─to his mind, disastrous─course of the guild. Caught between two opposing viewpoints, you resolve to put both from your mind and focus on your own development. ※The next armorer quest will be available from H'naanza upon reaching level 25.

She then informs you that her old rival has submitted an order for a steel ingot of the highest quality, forged by none other than your good self. It would appear that the veteran armorer is eager to recruit you to his cause. Craft a steel ingot from the finest materials available and deliver it to him.
  • Upon taking receipt of your steel ingot, Blanstyr declares that he is less than impressed with H'naanza's handling of your obvious talent, and encourages you to “do something about it.” What he means by this is unclear, but what is clear is that you have become the unwitting subject of your superiors' godsforsaken feud. ※The next armorer quest will be available from H'naanza upon reaching level 30.

  • In a bid to quell mutinous murmurings within the guild, Forgemaster H'naanza has decided to entrust you with a prestigious commission.
  • H'naanza has asked you to undertake the commission of a wealthy and highly respected client on her behalf. To learn more about the job, make your way to the Fishermen's Guild and seek out Nortyrwyb, the customer's maidservant.
  • Upon arriving at the Fishermen's Guild, a rather nonplussed Nortyrwyb explains that Blanstyr has already accepted her master's commission as the armorers' appointed representative. Clearly, there has been some sort of misunderstanding... Track the veteran craftsman down and attempt to resolve the matter.
  • In order to decide who should have the honor of taking the commission, Blanstyr proposes a contest of skill. Craft an all-surpassing suit of steel chainmail and deliver it to the Roegadyn artisan for appraisal alongside his own work.
  • Blanstyr is both impressed and dismayed by the quality of your chainmail. Though he admits defeat, it is plain that the old artisan has no intention of putting the matter behind him. You have acquired a bitter rival this day. • Blanstyr has proposed a three-round contest to decide once and for all who is the superior armorer. For the first round, you are to craft a high-quality mythril cuirass, and present it to H'naanza for appraisal.
  • H'naanza has determined that the mythril cuirass you have crafted is the superior piece. Take the armor to Blanstyr, and inform him of the forgemaster's decision.
  • After appraising your mythril cuirass for himself, Blanstyr is forced to admit defeat. • Forgemaster H'naanza wishes to relay to you Blanstyr's next challenge.
  • Blanstyr has notified H'naanza of your contest's second-round challenge, a task that requires you to craft several pieces of armor within a strict, though somewhat ambiguous, time frame. Make haste and forge the necessary high-quality items: a pair of mythril-plated caligae, a reinforced mythril elmo, and a pair of mythril sollerets. When finished, deliver the finished pieces to the waiting forgemaster for appraisal.
  • Once again, H'naanza credits you for your fine work. Rather than declare you the victor, however, she has instead requested that you relinquish your armor to the guild to serve as a replacement order for the Maelstrom. Go to Blanstyr, and explain the delay in your submission.
  • Although your selfless deed has guaranteed victory for Blanstyr in the second round, you have made a vital contribution to the guild's continuing survival and prosperity. • Forgemaster H'naanza wishes to speak with you regarding Blanstyr's final challenge.
  • The final round in your contest against Blanstyr is to be judged by none other than the Admiral herself. To suffer defeat before the representatives of the Maelstrom would cause untold damage to the guild's reputation, not to mention your own. You cannot afford to lose! Affix a grade three heavens' eye materia to a high-quality cobalt haubergeon, and deliver it to Sergeant Zwynberk at Hawkers' Round.
  • After a rather unorthodox turn of events, Admiral Merlwyb has appraised the strength of your armor and found it superior to Blanstyr's. H'naanza, wishing to know if defeat has finally humbled the veteran artisan, bids you follow the stunned Roegadyn back to the Armorers' Guild to hear his thoughts.
  • Acknowledging his loss, Blanstyr has decided to spend some time away from the forge to rethink his narrow perspective. Return to the forgemaster, and pass on the beaten craftsman's message.
  • H'naanza, after hearing of your conversation with Blanstyr, explains that the Roegadyn's self-imposed isolation was to blame for his eventual downfall. The forgemaster believes that it is mutual respect and an atmosphere of friendly rivalry that truly allows an artisan to advance her craft. Though undeniably skilled, Blanstyr's hostility ultimately limited his improvement, allowing you to seize victory with superior techniques. ※The next armorer quest will be available from H'naanza once you have met the following requirements: ※ You must have registered a product key for FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward to your service account. ※ You must have completed the main scenario quest “Before the Dawn.”

  • Forgemaster H'naanza has a favor to ask of you.
  • A perturbed Forgemaster H'naanza welcomes your visit, and immediately requests your aid in an urgent matter. It seems that Blanstyr, your old rival, has decided that donning his own work and charging into battle is the only way to improve his knowledge of armorcraft. Speak with Blanstyr, and convince him of the danger inherent in this reckless plan.
  • You attempt to dissuade Blanstyr from his course, but the stubborn armorer is deaf to your pleas. Return to H'naanza, and report your failure.
  • Disappointed─but not entirely unsurprised─by your report, the forgemaster next bids you follow the old craftsman into lower La Noscea and protect him from undue harm. Look for Blanstyr in the vicinity of the Eyes.
  • You catch up to Blanstyr, only to find that he has been rescued from certain death by a passing party of adventurers. Still in a state of shock, the armorer seems dumbfounded by the weight and discomfort of his protective equipment. Return to the Armorers' Guild and report events to H'naanza.
  • The forgemaster is relieved to hear of Blanstyr's rescue, but fears that the single-minded old man is far from done with his foolishness. She bids you aid him with his work in the hopes that the example of your craft will prove more persuasive than mere words. Speak with Blanstyr, and offer him the assistance of your hammer.
  • You approach Blanstyr, and the determined armorer describes to you the depths of his revelations. From this point forward, he vows to craft with the needs of his customers forefront in his mind. • Blanstyr appears to be at his wit's end.
  • Blanstyr sheepishly greets you and asks if you are still willing to aid in his work. It seems that the adventurers who rescued him out in La Noscea have tasked the old armorer with a troublesome commission. Head over to the Drowning Wench, and speak with Benathaire to learn the details of the request.
  • You approach Benathaire, and the soft-spoken conjurer explains that he and his party plan to engage a monster of some ferocity. To prepare for the battle, he wishes to have a special light helm made for the party's monk, as Sasapiku refuses to wear any heavy protective gear that would slow him down. Blanstyr claims that no such piece can be crafted of metal, but H'naanza disagrees. Head to Gridania to seek the advice of Geva and Beatin, found in the Leatherworkers' Guild and Carpenters' Guild, respectively.
  • Both Geva and Beatin, while somewhat surprised by your visit, willingly offer advice on how best to craft a light, sturdy head piece. Return to the Armorers' Guild and report to H'naanza.
  • You return to the forgemaster with the advice of the Gridanian artisans. Reasoning that a mask would use the least material, and that titanium is one of the lightest and strongest metals, H'naanza concludes that your client may be satisfied with a titanium mask of striking. Craft the suggested item, and deliver it to Benathaire at the Drowning Wench.
  • You bring the titanium mask to the waiting adventurers, and Sasapiku seems overjoyed with the result. A dubious Blanstyr inspects your work, and is amazed that the principles of another discipline could be so effectively applied to armorcraft. Continue to improve at your trade that you might provide a less life-threatening example for the old armorer to follow. ※The next armorer quest will be available from Blanstyr upon reaching level 55.

  • Blanstyr is trembling with anger after the armor he crafted was rejected by Benathaire's companion. The old artisan admits to losing his temper, and walking away from the conjurer's commission. Seek out Benathaire at the Drowning Wench, and learn the details of the request.
  • Benathaire greets you enthusiastically, and seems more than pleased to have you take over the commission. He explains that Barberella, the party's lancer, is loath to fight in any armor that doesn't meet her standards for style. Consult with H'naanza, and discuss how you might best meet your client's wishes.
  • Upon hearing the aesthetic nature of the commission, H'naanza suggests that you seek the advice of experts in the field of fashion. Head to Ul'dah, and consult with Serendipity of the Goldsmiths' Guild, and Redolent Rose of the Weavers' Guild.
  • Serendipity and Redolent Rose gladly offer you suggestions on how you might elevate the beauty of your craft while still maintaining its durability. Return to the Armorers' Guild and report to H'naanza.
  • You return to the forgemaster with the advice of the Ul'dahn artisans. H'naanza muses over their ideas for a moment before outlining the design of a piece that fulfills the requirements of your client's request. Forge a high-quality titanium cuirass of maiming, and deliver the finished item to Benathaire at the Drowning Wench.
  • You bring the cuirass to the expectant Benathaire, and Barberella wastes no time in donning your creation. Blanstyr arrives to inspect the exuberant lancer's new armor, and seems astonished at your accomplishment. Swallowing his pride for the sake of his craft, the old armorer vows to visit H'naanza, and beg for the wisdom of her experience. • Blanstyr wishes to entrust you with a commission.
  • Blanstyr informs you that he has received another commission from Benathaire. Occupied as he is with his training under H'naanza, however, the veteran armorer would have you undertake the task in his stead. Find Benathaire at the Drowning Wench, and learn the details of this latest request.
  • Benathaire confides that his party has had little luck in finding a replacement for Wannmaga. In order to expedite the recruitment process, the conjurer would have you forge a shield that he means to offer as a bonus to potential applicants. Unsure of the type of shield that would interest a gladiator, however, Benathaire asks that you consult with their former party member. Travel to the Gates of Judgement in the Coerthas central highlands, and seek out Wannmaga.
  • You find Wannmaga pacing before the Gates of Judgement, complaining that he has been denied entry to the city. The Fury-smitten gladiator promises to answer any and all shield-related queries on the condition that you complete his planned devotions. Enter Ishgard, and /pray before the statue of Halone in Saint Reymanaud's Cathedral.
  • You make your way to the back of the vast cathedral and perform the required devotions before the towering statue of the Fury. Return to the Gates of Judgement and report to Wannmaga.
  • You return to Wannmaga, and assure him that Halone has heard his prayers. The gladiator then shares with you his idea of the perfect shield─light, sturdy, and preferably made of titanium. Forge a high-quality hoplon based on Wannmaga's preferences, and deliver the item to Benathaire at the Drowning Wench.
  • You deliver the shield to Benathaire, and he leaves to post a recruitment notice. A short while later, Wannmaga appears, lured by the promise of a titanium hoplon. He and the conjurer immediately begin arguing, but eventually resolve their conflict. Touched by their reunion, a much-changed Blanstyr then arranges to equip the companions with brand-new armor, as part of his new “customer first” philosophy. • Blanstyr seems unusually excited. In order to complete this quest, you must have learned the advanced recipes contained within Master Armorer III.
  • Blanstyr informs you that Benathaire's party has returned from their monster slaying. Eager to hear how his armor withstood the test of battle, he suggests that you join him and H'naanza in welcoming the adventurers back to Limsa Lominsa. Head to the Drowning Wench and speak with Benathaire.
  • You find the adventurers in their usual haunt, but the air of defeat surrounding them is almost palpable. Blanstyr demands to know if his armor was to blame, and Wannmaga confesses that his movements were restricted by the veteran armorer's chest piece. Seeking to fulfill his client's needs, Blanstyr then turns to you to forge a suit of armor more suited to Wannmaga's fighting style. Make your way to the Gladiators' Guild in Ul'dah, and join Blanstyr in his efforts to research an appropriate design.
  • You meet Blanstyr in Ul'dah, and together you question the members of the Gladiators' Guild. After considering the responses, you settle upon a design for Wannmaga's armor: a lorica. Head next to the Miners' Guild and discover what H'naanza has learned about recent developments in the mining industry.
  • You speak with H'naanza, and it would seem that new deposits of adamantite ore have recently been unearthed. The forgemaster explains that this development allows for the production of adamantite, a metal known for its incredible resilience and tremendous elasticity. With the perfect design and the perfect material now decided, it is time now for you to forge the perfect armor. Craft an exceptional adamantite lorica of fending, and deliver it to Blanstyr at the Armorers' Guild. In order to complete this quest, you must have learned the advanced recipes contained within Master Armorer III.
  • You hand over the lorica to a suitably impressed Blanstyr. He then takes the armor you have forged, and adds it to the protective gear he, H'naanza, and his “weaver mate” have crafted for the other party members. Find Benathaire in Bulwark Hall, and deliver the Pride of Vymelli to the conjurer and his companions.
  • You present your gifts to the adventurers, and they don their new armor with appreciative glee. After watching Benathaire and his companions once more set forth to do battle, Blanstyr is overwhelmed with a feeling of achievement. He thanks both you and H'naanza for rescuing him from his slump, and vows to never again alienate himself from his colleagues. In a surge of sudden confidence, however, he challenges the forgemaster to another armorcrafting contest. H'naanza shakes her head in disbelief, but welcomes the test to her abilities, stating that even a forgemaster must guard against the dangers of stagnation. • H'naanza needs you to speak with Blanstyr.
  • H'naanza greets you warmly, but seems concerned by an unexpected announcement from Blanstyr. The forgemaster would have you speak with the veteran craftsman, and discern the reason behind his sudden decision to quit the Armorers' Guild.
  • You approach Blanstyr, and he shares with you an epiphany he had upon beholding a helm of unique design. Wishing to infuse his own work with a greater degree of “character,” it would appear Blanstyr has his mind set on studying at the feet of Far Eastern masters. Return to H'naanza, and report what you have learned.

  • H'naanza has an air of poorly concealed concern.
  • H'naanza complains that Blanstyr has sent no word of his safe arrival in the Far East. With poorly concealed concern, she asks that you check on the veteran artisan the next time you find yourself in Kugane... for the sake of the guild, of course.
  • You find Blanstyr standing as if spellbound by the armor on a statue in Kugane, but otherwise safe and sound. Although the shrewd craftsman immediately accuses you of spying for H'naanza, he shows no hesitation in requesting your help with finding a local forge. Head into the artisans' district and catch up with Blanstyr.
  • Blanstyr approaches the master of Kokajiya and explains how the design of a Heavensturn helmet inspired him to develop his own unique style. Fugetsu mistakes you for another hopeful apprentice, and you find yourself assigned the same crafting task as Blanstyr. Speak with Unryu, and request the materials needed to synthesize a high-quality suit of paladin mail.
  • Unryu hands over the supplies you need, and reminds you to present your finished work to Fugetsu. ※In the event that synthesis ends in failure, you may try again by speaking with Unryu.
  • Fugetsu is duly impressed with your finely crafted set of Eorzean-style armor, and promises to commence your lessons once he is finished honoring an important commission. Share your success with Blanstyr.
  • Blanstyr seems pleased that you have both been accepted as apprentices, and restates his determination to work on developing an individual style. Until Fugetsu is free to begin your instruction, however, it seems you must be content with improving yourself by exploring the properties of the local materials. ※The next armorer quest will be available from Blanstyr upon reaching level 65.

Objectives

  • Search for Blanstyr in Kugane.
  • Speak with Blanstyr.
  • Speak with Unryu.

  • Blanstyr is eager to begin his first lesson.
  • Blanstyr tells you of his observations on Far Eastern armorsmithing techniques, and mentions that Master Fugetsu should soon be ready to instruct you both in your first lesson. Quiet your mind for the task ahead, and speak with Kokajiya's head armorer.
  • After describing the prominence of the scale in Hingan plate armors, Master Fugetsu tasks you with forging a pair of kote. Before you begin, however, Blanstyr wishes to interrogate a warrior on the qualities one looks for in protective gauntlets. Make your way to the barracks in Kugane, and speak with a Sekiseigumi blade.
  • Though initially wary of your presence, the Sekiseigumi warrior is only too happy to share with you his opinion on the ideal pair of kote. With the objectives of durability and freedom of movement in mind, you decide on titanium as your metal of choice. Return to Kokajiya, and trouble Unryu for the materials you will require.
  • Unryu hands over the supplies you need. Deliver your finished work to Blanstyr when the kote are complete. ※In the event that synthesis ends in failure, you may try again by speaking with Unryu.
  • Blanstyr takes your titanium kote and adds the finishing touches. You present your work to Master Fugetsu, who proceeds to praise both the kote's exceptional sturdiness and the precision of its joinings. Despite this glowing assessment, however, Blanstyr seems dissatisfied with the lack of progress towards his goal of developing an original style. Master Fugetsu counsels patience, and promises that his next lesson will build upon the grumbling veteran's solid foundation. ※The next armorer quest will be available from Fugetsu upon reaching level 68.

Objectives

  • Speak with Fugetsu.
  • Speak with a Sekiseigumi blade.
  • Speak with Unryu.
  • Synthesize a pair of titanium kote .

  • Fugetsu has a new task for you.
  • As part of your continuing lessons, Fugetsu has decided that you will accept a commission from one of Kokajiya's clients. Head to Tenkonto and speak with the samurai Gyosei.
  • You meet with Gyosei, and he explains that he requires a helm for participation in a tournament known as the gozen-jiai. Blanstyr proposes a friendly contest where you both craft a piece, and have the client decide which he likes best. Return to Kokajiya, and discuss the subject of supplies with Unryu.
  • Before you begin forging, Unryu suggests that you first ask the advice of those with more intimate knowledge of the gozen-jiai. He sends you to speak with the same Sekiseigumi blade you consulted once before, as well as a stallkeeper in the Rakuza District.
  • After speaking with the blade and the stallkeeper, you learn that a simple somen─a faceplate which protects the head from brow to jaw─is considered the most appropriate headgear for the tournament. Head back to Unryu, and make a request for materials.
  • Unryu hands over the supplies you need. Deliver your finished work to Fugetsu when the somen is complete. ※In the event that synthesis ends in failure, you may try again by speaking with Unryu.
  • You deliver your work to Fugetsu, and the master puts it on display next to Blanstyr's piece. Much to Blanstyr's surprise, however, Gyosei chooses your simple somen over your fellow apprentice's elaborate kabuto. Fugetsu chides Blanstyr for prioritizing a selfish desire to express originality over meeting the client's practical requirements, and the veteran artisan admits his fault. Continue your lessons alongside the repentant Blanstyr, and work towards perfecting the arts you have learned in Kokajiya. ※The next armorer quest will be available from Blanstyr upon reaching level 70.

Objectives

  • Speak with Gyosei.
  • Speak with Unryu.
  • Speak with the Sekiseigumi blade.

  • Blanstyr wishes to share his progress with you.
  • Blanstyr seems pleased with his improvement since his previous failure. Even as Master Fugetsu inquires as to your own progress, however, your conversation is interrupted by the entrance of a bustling Gyosei who is soon to depart for distant lands. Seizing the opportunity, Blanstyr offers to forge the samurai a set of armor by way of an apology for his past behavior. Meet your fellow artisan outside Kokajiya, and discuss what might make a suitable gift.
  • Blanstyr decides that Gyosei's armor will be a blend of Eorzean and Hingan styles, and bids you forge the largest piece: a Lominsan hara-ate. Speak with Unryu and procure the necessary materials.
  • Unryu hands over the supplies you need. Deliver your finished work to Blanstyr when the hara-ate is complete. ※In the event that synthesis ends in failure, you may try again by speaking with Unryu.
  • You hand your completed hara-ate to Blanstyr, and he puts it together with the rest of the armor. Head inside Kokajiya, and stand with Blanstyr as he presents the set to Gyosei.
  • Gyosei eagerly accepts the armor from Blanstyr. He returns a moment later in full battle gear, clearly moved by the gift's fine quality and personal touches. The samurai then hurriedly departs for his new appointment in high spirits, much to the satisfaction of the assembled armorers. Blanstyr, too, makes to depart, feeling that he has finally achieved what he set out to learn, but is stopped by Master Fugetsu. Fascinated by the possibilities of Lominsan plate techniques, it seems Kokajiya's head armorer would now become the apprentice. Blanstyr elects to stay in Kugane, and sends you back to Limsa Lominsa to explain this development to H'naanza.
  • H'naanza listens to your report with reluctant approval. She explains that while Blanstyr's absence will be felt in the short term, the creative stimulation his new methods will bring upon his return will be of great benefit to the guild. The forgemaster seems envious of the success of your journey, and vows to make her own study of Far Eastern armorsmithing techniques.

Objectives

  • Speak with Blanstyr.
  • Speak with Unryu.
  • Synthesize a Lominsan hara-ate .
  • Speak with Blanstyr.
