Final Fantasy XIV Dad of Light (ファイナルファンタジーXIV 光のお父さん, Fainaru Fantajī Fōtīn Hikari no Otōsan?), written Daddy of Light on the Japanese logo, is a Japanese TV show. It features a mix of live-action scenes and Final Fantasy XIV gameplay footage. It premiered in Japan on April 16, 2017 and became available worldwide via Netflix in September.[1] The story is inspired by a Final Fantasy XIV player "Ichigeki Kakusatsu SS Nikki" who wrote a series of blog posts titled Hikari no Otōsan.

StoryEdit

Years ago, Hirotaro Inaba purchased a Nintendo Famicom and Final Fantasy III for his son Akio. The two enjoyed playing the game together and the experience is a fond memory for them both, but they have since grown apart and barely speak to each other.

Suddenly, Hirotaro quits his job without telling his family. Akio is concerned and decides to try to reconnect with his father by purchasing a PlayStation 4 and Final Fantasy XIV for him. With the help of his Free Company and friends, Aru and Kirin, Akio plans to use his character Maidy to befriend his father and discover why he quit his job.

MusicEdit

The rock band Glay perform the opening theme called "The Other End of the Globe". Silent Siren performs the ending theme song "Akane" and meg performs the song titled "Jacaranda no Hana no Yō ni".
