Battle commands[]

Commando[]

The following is a list of abilities associated with the Commando role. A character needs to be a Commando to use these abilities.

Deathblow Auto Instantly slay target with low HP.
Faultsiphon Auto Slightly charge ATB gauge upon attacking target afflicted with status ailments.
Jeopardize Auto Boost chain bonus of staggered target upon attacking.
Launch Auto Attack and launch staggered target into the air.
Lifesiphon Auto Recharge one ATB gauge segment upon slaying target.
Powerchain Auto Bolster Attack or Ruin at head of attack queue when target's chain gauge is empty.
Ravage Auto Bolster Blitz or Ruinga at head of attack queue when Ravager is present.
Ruin 1 Deal non-elemental magic damage to target.
Ruinga 3 Deal non-elemental magic damage to targets within a wide radius.
Scourge Auto Deal heavy damage with Attack to target about to recover from stagger.
Smite Auto Deal heavy damage with Attack to launched target about to recover from stagger.
Sovereign Fist All Crush foes with a ruinous blow, clearing chain gauges. Damage varies by situation.
Highwind All Release a catastrophic blast, clearing chain gauges. Damage varies by situation.

Ravager[]

The following is a list of abilities associated with the Ravager role. A character needs to be a Ravager to use these abilities.

Overwhelm Auto Boost chain bonus effect of attacks for each ally targeting the same enemy.

Fire 1 Deal fire damage to target.
Fira 2 Deal fire damage to targets in range. Staggered targets take more damage.
Firaga 3 Deal fire damage to targets within a wide radius.
Flamestrike 1 Physically attack target for fire damage.
Blizzard 1 Deal ice damage to target.
Blizzara 2 Deal ice damage to targets in range. Staggered targets take more damage.
Blizzaga 3 Deal ice damage to targets within a wide radius.
Froststrike 1 Physical attack target for ice damage.
Thunder 1 Deal lightning damage to target.
Thundara 2 Deal lightning damage to targets in range. Staggered targets take more damage.
Thundaga 3 Deal lightning damage to targets within a wide radius.
Sparkstrike 1 Physically attack target for lightning damage.
Water 1 Deal water damage to target.
Watera 2 Deal water damage to targets in range. Staggered targets take more damage.
Waterga 3 Deal water damage to targets within a wide radius.
Aquastrike 1 Physically attack target for water damage.
Aero 1 Deal wind damage to target and temporarily stun it.
Aerora 3 Deal wind damage to targets in range, tossing them up and drawing them in.
Aeroga 5 Deal wind damage to targets within a wide radius, drawing them up into a tornado.
Army of One All Unleash a devastating flurry of blows. Chain bonus effect varies by situation.
Cold Blood All Unleash a devastating volley of gunfire. Chain bonus effect varies by situation.
Last Resort All Deal magic damage within a wide radius. Chain bonus effect varies by situation.

Sentinel[]

The following is a list of abilities associated with the Sentinel role. A character needs to be a Sentinel to use these abilities.

Counter Auto Occasionally counterattack enemies after evading their attacks.
Deathward Auto Boost physical and magic resistance when HP is low.
Elude 1 Defend with a high probability of evading enemy attacks.
Entrench 1 Counterattack after defending, dealing more damage the longer you defend.
Evade Auto Occasionally evade enemy attacks.
Fringeward Auto Reduce damage to nearby allies when you are the target of an area attack.
Mediguard 1 Defend while gradually recovering HP.
Provoke 1 Entice enemies in range to attack you.
Reprieve Auto If HP is above a certain threshold, retain 1 HP when an attack would otherwise KO you.
Steelguard 1 Defend, boosting physical and magic resistance each time you are attacked.
Vendetta 1 Counterattack after defending, dealing more damage the more you are attacked.

Saboteur[]

The following is a list of abilities associated with the Saboteur role. A character needs to be a Saboteur to use these abilities.

Deprotect 1 Reduce target's physical resistance and deal magic damage.
Deprotega 3 Reduce physical resistance and deal magic damage within a wide radius.
Deshell 1 Reduce target's magic resistance and deal magic damage.
Deshellga 3 Reduce magic resistance and deal magic damage within a wide radius.
Dispel 2 Remove target's most recent status enhancement and deal magic damage.
Fog 1 Disable target's spell-casting abilities and deal magic damage.
Fogga 3 Disable enemy spell casting and deal magic damage within a wide radius.
Imperil 1 Reduce target's elemental resistances and deal magic damage.
Imperilga 3 Reduce elemental resistances and deal magic damage within a wide radius.
Jinx Auto Extend duration of a target's existing status ailments upon inflicting new ones.
Pain 1 Disable target's physical abilities and deal magic damage.
Painga 3 Disable enemy physical abilities and deal magic damage within a wide radius.
Poison 1 Poison target and deal magic damage.
Poisonga 3 Poison and deal magic damage to targets within a wide radius.
Slow 1 Reduce target's ATB gauge recharge rate and deal magic damage.
Slowga 3 Reduce ATB gauge recharge rate and deal magic damage within a wide radius.
Death All Slay target instantly, dealing magic damage instead if unsuccessful.

Synergist[]

The following is a list of abilities associated with the Synergist role. A character needs to be a Synergist in order to use these abilities.

Enfrost 2 Add ice attribute to target's COM, RAV, SEN, or SAB attacks.
Enthunder 2 Add lightning attribute to target's COM, RAV, SEN, or SAB attacks.
Enwater 2 Add water attribute to target's COM, RAV, SEN, or SAB attacks.
Faith 2 Raise target's Magic.
Faithra 2 Significantly raise target's Magic for a short time.
Haste 2 Accelerate target's ATB gauge recharge rate.
Protect 2 Raise target's physical resistance.
Protectra 2 Significantly raise target's physical resistance for a short time.
Shell 2 Raise target's magic resistance.
Shellra 2 Significantly raise target's magic resistance for a short time.
Veil 2 Raise target's status ailment resistance.
Vigilance 2 Boost target's odds of interrupting actions and avoiding interruption of own.

Medic[]

The following is a list of abilities associated with the Medic role. A character needs to be a Medic in order to use these abilities.

Raise 3 Revive an ally from KO.

Other abilities[]

These abilities are only available during chapter 1 and 2. If the following abilities are hacked into a character's list of abilities, these abilities will be usable in all roles.
