Champions of Abyssea[]
After the adventurer rescues five Abyssea areas from the vile creatures that menace it, Joachim informs them that Gilgamesh wishes to meet with them again at the stone circle in La Theine Plateau.
Gilgamesh tries to reason the cause of the calamity that has befallen Abyssea. He explains that there once existed Champions of Abyssea, who were adventurers not unlike those found in Vana'diel. They, including the adventurer's own Abyssean alter-ego, have disappeared and Abyssea has been breaking down in a lattice pattern and the world has undergone radical changes. Gilgamesh fears that even worse events will soon transpire, resolving to seek answers from the "lil' mistress" and leaves.
