Regarding FFShrine and FFOnlineEdit

What does it mean by "links page"? Where is it?wikisig-2.png 00:06, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

Page formatEdit

The "Policy on linking" section should be removed, with its content shifted into either comments and/or the talk page.

Having a separate section for "Editor submitted sites" is redundant. We're a wiki. All of us are editors. The wiki refuses to have a webmaster so we're all equal. The only distinction we need to make is for Affiliates and for everything else (everything else hopefully divided by category of site.

We need a section listing all the other sister FFWikis. One thing I don't like about Oasis is that the "in other languages" is right at the bottom. Interwiki is something I really believe in (but mostly can't contribute to because I speak English and only English).

I also think we need affiliation managers. If we're all going to decide that there is no master of the wiki, we still need a way to organise affiliations. Our affiliation with the two Kingdom Hearts sites is one of the most long ongoing things ever, and by the looks of it I still don't think it's resolved. If we had people involved in that sort of thing who cared, there would be a short conversation with those at the KHWikis, and with our userbase (because it's still a democracy) and the thing would have been sorted in a week. 15:26, October 23, 2012 (UTC)

Somebody has to periodically go through and purge this page of defunct sites, as well as advertise this page more. Otherwise it's pointless (actually that's the case for a lot of projectspace).
According to Bluesey, during the FFAnswers debacle way back in 2011, stuff that isn't "Editor Submitted" is handpicked by the admins. Except that admins don't update this page (or maybe even know it exists? lol). CSM's edit summary from way back in 2006 says that "The first section is for the MAJOR PLAYERS ONLY" but this is some weird notability guideline, it's too subjective for good decision making.
So we have a section for wiki affiliates (NOT necessarily Wikia affiliates, we favor over the Keyhole because the Keyhole's content blows -- see the main page for our wiki affiliates) and another for interwiki. Then another for fanwankery like the Final Fantasy Tactics MMO. I'm not sure where Chrono Compendium fits into all this or why it has some sort of special affiliate status, but since it's been there since 2007 I'll chalk it up to CSM weirdness.
Policy for main page affiliations, afaik, is that you have to be a wiki with at least 200 mainspace pages. I don't really know why, except that Wiki of Mana or something set a precedent and the rest of us follow it. C A T U S E 23:05, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

Affiliation: Square Enix Wiki Edit

Hi, there. I'm KeybladeSpyMaster. Not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I hope it is. Basically, we're conducting a revival of the Square Enix Independent Wiki Alliance (SEIWA) and, by extension, the Square Enix Wiki. I've recently been given administrator rights, and have been spending the last week or so organizing the wiki for general editing. Basically, the Square Enix Wiki centers on Square Enix as a company, its publications both prior to and post-merger, and other companies acquired by Square Enix. However, we'd rather not detail into all publications, instead directing readers to affiliated wikis that focus on that information. I'm thus asking if you'd consider the proposition of us being affiliates. As affiliates, on the Square Enix Wiki, we'd direct readers to this wiki for more information on Final Fantasy-related articles, as seen here, and, of course, a section in our affiliates page. So, what do you guys say? {{SUBST:KeybladeSpyMaster/AutoSig}} 20:53, October 29, 2014 (UTC)

I'm inclined to say come back in a few months when you've got some more content. atm w:c:square, while unmaintained, has 300 pages. The reason we switched linking affiliation ({{SeeKHWiki}}) to over the Keyhole was that they had more and higher-quality content, which is why we currently link to Square Wikia over Square Enix Wiki.
That said, it looks like you guys are growing fast (definitely a lot more active than Square Wikia), so while I can't speak for the other FFWikiers, I for one will be glad to make SE Wiki our linking affiliate once you guys get some activity in the mainspace instead of just metadata.
Good luck with the revival! C A T U S E 23:05, October 29, 2014 (UTC)
Yes, well, I understand your hesitation. Currently, I'm focusing on building the wiki itself so that there aren't any problems during regular editing, and so that editing goes smoothly. I hope to finish all that sometime in the next two weeks. We could sure use help from anyone willing to help us out on the Final Fantasy front then (I'm more of a Kingdom Hearts-guy myself, so I couldn't do anything there...). I hope to talk to you guys soon when we're a little more fleshed out, then! {{SUBST:KeybladeSpyMaster/AutoSig}} 06:07, October 31, 2014 (UTC)

Affiliation QuestionEdit

Hello, I am an admin from the independent Kingdom Hearts Wiki ( We recently noticed that you all have stopped linking back to us for the Kingdom Hearts articles- instead referring to the KH Fandom site. Could someone explain the reasoning for this? Just to have clarity on the situation; we assumed we were still affiliated/linking to each other since the last discussion of this here. We’re still linking to your Wiki and we would appreciate it if you could link back to us again. Like I said earlier, we are just wanting some clarity on the reasoning for this change. Thanks.Xion4ever 14:47, June 16, 2020 (UTC)

Hi Xion4ever, apologies for the late response. We chose to change affiliation after SEIWA launched their own Final Fantasy Wiki. We were somewhat disappointed in your decision to compete with us. In addition, we were recently reexamining our relationship with other affiliated wikis in the wake of the new Bravely Default game. In particular, Kingdom Hearts Wiki on FANDOM has greatly improved in quality and has long-term plans for a massive expansion in content, so we chose to reaffiliate with them. Hello, Catuse. Thanks for getting back to us. While we completely understand your position, it is a bit unfortunate to see our long-standing affiliation fall apart. Regarding the independent FF Wiki...Just to clear any suspicions: We,, did NOT create that Wiki. Some editors may edit on our site and the independent FF one- if it happens- but things like that happen in Fandom, too; people editing multiple Wikis. In earnest, the independent FFWiki was not our idea and we personally did not create it. We currently don’t even link to the site/on our articles. That said, I completely get where you all are coming from. It’s unfortunate and a misunderstanding, but if that is what your community has decided, we will respect that decision.
