Starting a new year

So, I was going to post news, but I'm not entirely sure about the correct process to wipe out the page and start a new year, so I'd rather not really do anything. Can someone do that, please? DiamondEdge (talk) 11:02, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

Okay, that should be good to go. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 11:15, January 7, 2013 (UTC)

Versus XIII now XV?

http://gematsu.com/2013/03/ff-versus-xiii-outfit-designer-lists-game-as-final-fantasy-15

Either that or the company are dumb. JBed (talk) 00:15, March 16, 2013 (UTC)

Nice find. They may be being dumb though.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 02:17, March 16, 2013 (UTC)
I've been hoping this was the case. interestingly, if the article is accurate, it says this change has been around since last July, which was when the game cancelling rumor came about. if it was indeed decided around then that the game changed its title, then there might have been some validity in "vs13" being no more lol.. anyway in the website they do say in brackets that its the expected title.. not an official one.--Arciel Spira (talk) 03:43, March 16, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, dumb. They darn changed it to Versus XIII now. JBed (talk) 19:46, March 17, 2013 (UTC)
Haha nice. :D Square wouldn't want them to be the ones to "announce" it though even if they did rebrand the game...Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 20:53, March 17, 2013 (UTC)

Final Fantasy Agito announced and we still haven't even got Type-0?

A mobile prequel to Type-0 and we still haven't even got the game outside of Japan, Squeenix, you're killing me, also touchscreen controls suck :( Wyvern777 (talk) 23:46, September 15, 2013 (UTC)

September 26 article

Do we have a source for it? Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 08:00, September 30, 2013 (UTC)

Not sure if it's good enough for news

Square are releasing some more figurines, I don't know if you want to report it or just put the pictures on the relevant articles, but you can find it, and a link to Square's official store, here Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 14:14, February 3, 2014 (UTC)

Facebook Icon

Can I suggest making a square icon for the Shinra News for Facebook? The wide rectangle logo doesn't look appealing when squished. If no one is up to it, I could do it: just tell me the font name for "Final Fantasy Wiki" and "- Shinra News -".—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) ∙ 19:15, June 17, 2014 (UTC)

Name

So I was working on FFVII related things when I just noticed the text "Shinra Times".

"Shinra Times" is a newspaper in FFVII. Mentioned once in the game when talking about headlines about the bombing. I just thought I'd mention it because I remember past discussions about how "Shinra News" isn't a newspaper and is bland. Not that I agreed we should name it after a newspaper. "Bonga Bugle" and "Timber Maniacs" were my preferred choices.

;3 JBed (talk) 16:37, August 15, 2014 (UTC)

I like the sound of Timber Maniacs. Shinra News always sounded dull. C A T U S E 03:55, August 16, 2014 (UTC)
I like Timber Maniacs too. Monterossa (talk) 05:05, August 16, 2014 (UTC)
Nothing is wrong with Shinra News. It is in universe and explains itself simply and easily, and is probably the project page that requires a name doing so the most since it'll be frequented by non regulars more. Besides, screw FFVIII, Shinra are tons cooler than Timber Maniacs.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 05:38, August 16, 2014 (UTC)
When I first joined the wiki I thought Shinra News was an intentionally ironic name because the Shinra News in the world of FFVII is propaganda that distorts the truth.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 13:40, August 16, 2014 (UTC)
Bump. Really, there was never proper consensus on this name in the first place, everyone just stopped arguing when BH did the move anyway. I'm personally not a big fan of Shinra News in the first place, it's just a very... uninteresting name. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 23:39, January 8, 2015 (UTC)
I oppose changing the name because somebody is going to demand that the name get changed in another two years and it will never stop. Wait until FFXV comes out with a newspaper and then suddenly, we have to change the name again. Why not change the DNC's name to whatever XIII's arena was? Shinra Times at least tells somebody who hasn't played FFVIII what this page is about. As opposed to Timber Maniacs. (What did Timber Maniacs do again other than unlock secret Laguna scenes? Was it even a newspaper? I LP'd the game and I don't remember.)
If you're changing it to anything, make it Bongaa Bugle. The old name that I unilaterally threw away because I thought it sounded dumb. PS: Kelt caught the irony. --BlueHighwind 02:17, January 9, 2015 (UTC)
I concur with Blue. Not only is changing the name a waste of time, it is detrimental and people will only ask to change it again later. "Shinra News" is not only a cool and ironic name, but it's more descriptive than those suggested and has obvious meaning to anyone.--Magicite-ffvi-ios Technobliterator TC 07:59, January 9, 2015 (UTC)

FNC Rebrand

If we're now the Lightning Wiki, 'Shinra News' doesn't make much sense. If anyone has any FNC related newspaper titles to suggest, that'd be helpful. The only find I have is in the Brain Blast article. One of the questions refers to an organisation called 'Academia Central Broadcasting Station'. Sounds an awful lot like a news agency ala BBC or Sky (or ABC or FOX if your american). Their acronym (which is the answer to the question) is ACBS. ACBS News anyone? COOLAWITS ~TALK | YFC | XVI | DQFF~ 08:46, April 1, 2015 (UTC)

EDIT: Fuck my life. Only now did I check the calendar. COOLAWITS ~TALK | YFC | XVI | DQFF~ 14:14, April 1, 2015 (UTC)

Something like Datalog / Analects / Sanctum or just a simple Cocoon news-type thing? There must be something around the Lighting trilogy we can use. AdeusValcross (talk) 10:22, April 1, 2015 (UTC) Haha that's actually brilliant. I lampshaded the news about the cancellation of XV but never even made the connection with this. Touche. AdeusValcross (talk) 14:27, April 1, 2015 (UTC)

BTW was the decision to make everything about Lightning because so many FF players are always hating on her? AdeusValcross (talk) 14:29, April 1, 2015 (UTC)

LOL even if you didn't notice that it's an AF joke you shouldn't believe that we're changing to Lightning Wiki for real. Monterossa (talk) 14:30, April 1, 2015 (UTC)

Tell me about it! I saw it late last night and even this morning thought nothing of it. Hook, line and sinker. Maybe it's because I secretly want this to become the Lightning wiki... AdeusValcross (talk) 14:46, April 1, 2015 (UTC)

After last year's April Fool (was totally taken in to the detriment of my pride), I was prepared. I knew for certain that this was a big, fat "April fool!". Not in the best taste, but fairly harmless. --Crystal Tear (talk) 15:39, April 1, 2015 (UTC)

Cloud to Appear in SSB4

As of yesterday, it has been announced that Cloud and Midgar are set to appear in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS as a playable character and stage respectively. Cloud's special moves appear to be based on his limit breaks (Omnislash is his Final Smash, say that ten times), and he has an alternate costume based on his Advent Children attire. As for the stage Midgar, it plays just like Battlefield except that, how I see it, the stage features summons acting as stage hazards, so don't think Cloud can manually slice any stage in half with Zantetsuken. Also, there is going to be a Mii Fighter hat based on the Chocobo. Here's a link to the reveal, or at least the GameXplain upload from the Nintendo Direct. FF NEW

http://www.jp.square-enix.com/FF_NEW/jp/

Not much information besides being a mobile game, some Amano artwork, and the game director is Takashi Tokita. The metadata tags also contain "FFLTS" -- an abbreviation they use for Final Fantasy Legends II (which Tokita also directed), which... might mean something, may be accidental. JBed (talk) 19:07, October 29, 2016 (UTC)

Figure I'll add to this. The character on the logo is indeed Chronos from Toki no Suisho holding the time wheel present in the game and the prelude playing is "Prelude of Legends", which is the game's prelude. The game is related to Toki no Suisho or a new relaunch since the game's story finished last year and is practically dead at this point, with it shifting to a new team iirc and just doing events to stay alive now. We'll find out in a few days, but yeah they did not do well in making the surprise an actual surprise --Miphares (talk) 19:17, October 29, 2016 (UTC)
