If we're going to use a name, it ought to be a real one. Shinra News isn't. Drake Clawfang 22:55, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

I quite like the Bonga Bugle, actually. It's the only FF-related newspaper that I know of. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 22:59, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Actually, Shinra News is real. Mail in Crisis Core, and there's a TV report flashback shown in Advent Children. I actually uploaded the logo: File:Shinra News Logo.png. --BlueHighwind 23:02, 27 April 2009 (UTC)

People can't appreciate good aliteration it seems. Anyway, I don't understand why no one likes Bonga Bugle. I personally can't stand Shin-Ra News, it just sounds so bland and unoriginal. Diablocon 10:38, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Bonga Bugle never sounded like the name of a newspaper to me. My vote's for Timber Maniacs, magazine or whatever. Oh, to nitpick Yuan, who said the FFWiki had to have a newspaper? Maybe we have a news magazine. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 10:44, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
To nitpick back, I mentioned it because Blue rejected "Timber Maniacs" because it wasn't a newspaper in the first post. — YuanSaluto!Acta 11:18, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Well, Shinra News is sorta an online Newspaper, like us. We're not a real newspaper either, though we like to pretend to be. --BlueHighwind 12:03, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
I do support Shin-Ra News! At least you will have one FFVII-named page within your project pages >:3 AJDurai 13:20, 28 April 2009 (UTC)
Timber Maniacs. It being a magazine is BS, because 'guess what', this page isn't a newspaper. It's nothing like a newspaper, more like an email system, closest things seen is CCVII's mail.
But Timber Maniacs is better.  ILHI 15:25, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

Bonga Bugle or Timber Maniacs, I don't really care which. But since Timber Maniacs was my preferred suggestion before we moved it from the fake "Midgar Press" title, I still want it. ^_^  ILHI 16:18, 28 April 2009 (UTC)

If VII is widely recognised, why don't we rename the "Returner's Conclave" - "Shin-Ra Headquarters", the "Dragon's Neck Colusseum" - "Battle Square", "Nalbina Dungeons" - "Corel Prison", "Omega Ruins" - "Forgotten Capital", "Tower of Mysidia" - "PHS" and "Library of the Ancients", "Shin-Ra Mansion". (Yeah I struggled near the end). We haven't got anything for VII, VIII or IX: We don't care what game is more popular here. We treat FFV equal to FFVII.  ILHI 19:35, 29 April 2009 (UTC)

Err...

  • Rule 1: Don't let BH get what he wants.
  • Rule 2: Don't let AJD get what he wants.

My "personal despise jokes" apart, I don't think BlueHighwind was proposing to change it, more saying "the effort needed to change its name if needed isn't that much effort at all". But really, the logo would have to be changed completely if we were to use Shin-Ra News. The current logo now works like it does because "Bonga" and "Bugle" are five letter words. Timber Maniacs could work in the same format, but "Shin-Ra News" is stretching it. Though, Timber is a place, and Shin-Ra a company, I'd expect they'd have to be modified slightly with images from the games. Just cuz.

Could BH really be given power to this place? Bluerfn used to edit his entries because they were over the top. I think on a Dissidia entry he said something about not caring about FFV and wanting more FFXII, then Bluerfn removed it. Right?  ILHI 15:41, 6 May 2009 (UTC) Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Dev:Arguments' not found.

Well I don't take notice of this place, and just saw that entry and then the following chief-editor (or whatever the rank was) edit. Although I've got to thank you Blue, that user who wrote an entry capitalising the first letter of every word, argh. I hate people that do that.

Apparently I see the edits but don't read the content. ^_^  ILHI 20:04, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Dev:Arguments' not found. I like Bonga Bugle or Timber Maniacs. Shin-Ra News sounds bland. 8bit 22:52, 6 May 2009 (UTC)

Besides, Final Fantasy VII is overused. Timber Maniacs is a magazine, and everyone magazines show reports, not news.
I also think that 8bit should be the new admin in-charge of this, because Faethin seems to care little about this. - Henryacores^ 23:06, 6 May 2009 (UTC)
Final Fantasy VII can only be consider overused on this wiki by somebody who does not pay attention at all. We don't have a single project page with a FFVII-related title, despite there being no less then 5 games, 1 movie, 2 books, half a dozen Ultimanias, and 2 OVAs related to it. While, as AJ-Baby pointed out, FFVI has several, and so does FFXII. If we move this to "Timber Maniacs", FFVIII will have two. I must also bring up Crystal Chronicles, which despite being the largest sub-series (if that's a word) has nothing. If we're going to say we treat everything equal, then each universe should only get a single project page with the ideal being that eventually we recognize all of them. --BlueHighwind 00:03, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
....Or we refrain from being overly fastidious about pairing exactly one Wiki function with one FF game. I love IX but I don't care that it doesn't have a project page named after it. Also, I'm not sure what adminship of the Bonga Bugle would entail, seeing as how the most complicated issue seems to be naming it ^^ BlueH does a good job of keeping an eye on this as it is, but I'll be happy to change the sidebar or take any necessary admin tasks or authorities that are desired. 8bit 00:54, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
Yes, it is a dull post, but any properly run project page should be. But right now, I intend to make things a whole lot more entertaining. =D --BlueHighwind 01:00, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
What are you talking about? Unless something has slipped past me, VII, VIII and IX had none.  ILHI 16:59, 7 May 2009 (UTC)
FFVIII has the Dollet Hotel. --BlueHighwind 19:16, 7 May 2009 (UTC)

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble here, but the news about ACC being delayed isn't entirely correct. I live in Europe (to be precise, Belgium) and I bought it 2 weeks ago. Editors[edit source]

Are there, say, specific editors for this page? Because I just read the three most recent news posts, and the writing in each of them was, well, to say the least, a bit lackluster and unprofessional. Is there anyone who's specifically in charge of putting up news posts or making sure they read nicely before they go up? Because it looks to me like it's a position that needs to be filled. :\ Teamrocketspy621 15:19, January 13, 2011 (UTC)

I agree, but unfortunately, we don't have a designated news editor (apparently, the only one actually writing these articles IS the self-designated news editor). I do have to admit that most of the news articles in this wiki are not well-written and the most recent ones even have a link to Siliconera, which I think is retarded, since it's basically a news article linking to another news article. I say we need only link to a primary official source if the reader wants to know more. Chocolancer 05:39, January 14, 2011 (UTC)
I have to agree. Zeta Nova, we're not Siliconera's FF news feed, PLEASE stop linking back to them. Try to use more primary sources. SCM - Talk 22:57, January 25, 2011 (UTC)

As far as I can read, the section does not only announce the fact that the game will be released in multiple discs, as the previous installment, but also tells their quantity, and that it might differ from the first game, which is news.

Here's some news from jeuxvideo.com, a french video game website. http://www.jeuxvideo.com/news/2011/00054957-final-fantasy-type-0-confirme-en-europe.htm I'm not very good at translating so... enjoy! NowIt'sTimeToDie 00:22 November 30, 2011 (UTC)

Square Enix vient de déclarer qu'une éventuelle sortie européenne de Final Fantasy Type-0 n'est finalement pas confirmée... - This essentially says that it is not confirmed to get a localisation, so yeah... That news doesn't actually tell us anything new. MirrorshardSceada 09:22, November 30, 2011 (UTC)
How about this: http://www.siliconera.com/2011/11/29/final-fantasy-type-0-team-already-working-on-western-version/? Clarent  (talk/ contribs) 09:31, November 30, 2011 (UTC)

Since right below it, there was the update I quoted that said it was not confirmed... What do you think? If they say it comes out and then say what they said was wrong, how does this add up in your eyes? Exactly: In it not being announced yet. However, Clarent's link is more promising in that regards... - Although it is still only vague and not enough of a reason to celebrate just yet in my eyes. I just have my TOC forever collapsed. There's not much you can do. You could use Lua error in package.lua at line 80: module 'Dev:Arguments' not found. and set it to 2. In light of this, I think the stuff regarding that should be removed, but unlike some people, I'm willing to put it to debate first. Thoughts? -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 14:20, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Honestly, the news articles look more credible when signed with a user account, not a numeric IP address. --Sove 14:24, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

I do agree with Sove on that, but I would probably still be in favour of allowing anons to add to the News, as it would likely be more positive overall. Obviously, the News will have to be monitored more closely for quality as a result. http://i1176.photobucket.com/albums/x333/KujaFFIX/2ea674f6.pngKujaBox.PNG 14:27, April 18, 2012 (UTC)
Now when anons receive notes for talk page messages we could just tell anon news contributors that we prefer them to have an account, but I wouldn't support removing news posted by anons if they are otherwise legit.Keltainentoukokuu 14:30, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

We would remove news lacking a credible source if it were uploaded by a user just as much as if it were an IP. ... If an anon can give us news before a user does, why should we tell them not to? 79.69.201.233 14:41, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Exactly. As long as it's notable, credible, and n0t feiled w1th l33t grAAMAR E330RS, we should keep anon news. Cat 14:47, April 18, 2012 (UTC)

Sove: I would argue that the user who originally added the no anons line did more to damage the credibility of our news articles than most of the anons that edit the Shinra News. Shinra News isn't really that big a target for crappy anon edits.
Everyone: Thanks for your input. Unless someone comes up with a really good reason to keep, I'll remove that stuff tonight. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 02:50, April 19, 2012 (UTC)

The feeds aren't useful. If we were to have a feed of our news page, we'd want to hide things that aren't directly related to a new news story, but we can't do that. Like I'm looking now, and half of the feed is downright useless.

I don't particularly have a strong opinion on comments, although the forums do already exist for spouting opinions on current events.

Inactivity[edit source]

When did our news coverage become non-existent, and if it's a problem we can influence and fix, we should. Doreiku Kuroofangu 06:53, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

Well is anything newsworthy happening? It's a lull because there is no new game SE is hyping up now after FFXIII-2 and all its DLC are out. Usually they start pushing the next big release after they have released the latest game, like they started pushing FFXIII-2 after Dissidia and FFIV Complete Collection were out even if it was a long time before it would be released. But there is just nothing on the horizon now. I guess Versus isn't complete enough that they are sure it will be the next big game out and they don't push two big games at the same time. Maybe they are announcing Valiant Saga: FFXII in E3 or something and then push that for the rest of the year and we'll have news, and then after that game is out then start pushing Versus... But when SE isn't hyping anything there is little in the way of news. The only thing I've heard is that they'll have some FFXI concert or something sometime. Guess I could look into that and try update me some newsss.Keltainentoukokuu 13:36, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

Final Fantasy Dimensions, anyone, kupo?Kaimi >♂ FFXIII - Sprite-AtkVanille.png - FFXIII - Sprite-ShockVanille.png - Discussion - FFXIII - Sprite-CrysVanille.png 13:49, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

Oh man is that is, their E3 lineup? Theatrhythm and Final Fantasy Dimensions retro FF game for smartphones? Games like that don't get big promotion with Famitsu articles and trailers and launch parties and all that jazz that goes in the news. Let's hope they'll pull that Valiant Saga thing as a "surprise". It's so weird that there is no big FF game to wait for apart from Versus and who the hell knows about that anymore. Don't really remember a time like this before. If they knew they were gonna have Versus as the next big release they'd start up the hype machine already. Well. Whatever is the next big game they start hyping up, that will be the one out next.
You wanna update "SE announces E3 lineup" for Shinra News, Kaimi?Keltainentoukokuu 14:10, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

Might as well, can't remember when I posted a news, actually.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 14:13, May 30, 2012 (UTC)

Is this news?[edit source]

I don't know what you guys consider news.

I'm thinking it's news once someone actually pays something for it. It has cool info that could go to the FFII article though...Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 15:28, August 22, 2012 (UTC)

TOC Italics[edit source]

Why is "8 January 2012" italicized? I can't find a coding reason... does Wikia just glitch up? C A T U S E 00:42, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

No, but Italics works in headers. And if an italic-code is not closed then it will copy into other TOC members, even if we use display:none on them. 79.69.192.176 00:54, August 25, 2012 (UTC)

XIII-2 Sale[edit source]

I don't feel qualified to alter the news story, but not all of the DLC seems to be on sale. At least Noel's Battle Attire, the Omega Battle, and the weapons are still regular price.

Also, the sale info for 360 is available at [3] Shardwing (talk) 17:14, September 26, 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for clarifications. Anyone can edit the news if you see a mistake.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 00:41, September 27, 2012 (UTC)

13-2's DLCs[edit source]

Will the additional scenarios be removed? If yes (or even no), wouldn't it be worthy to be in the news? NowIt'sTimeToDie - TastumakiBinD'laPoutine! (talk) 09:44, September 28, 2012 (UTC)

Character Polls[edit source]

One for males has been defined already. Anything known about female characters? --BGMaxie (talk) 05:06, December 20, 2012 (UTC)

Sadly no, and the news article definitely doesn't address that point. Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:20, December 20, 2012 (UTC)
As far as I know, the female poll is currently underway. No idea about when the results will be released, tho. DiamondEdge (talk) 11:17, December 20, 2012 (UTC)
