Here's where you can nominate and vote on articles to be featured on the front page.
- To nominate, simply write your nomination under the Nominees section and sign your posts. A nomination is equal to a vote, and it's one nomination per person.
- To vote, simply sign with # ~~~~ under the nominees to symbolize your support. You can vote for as many as two nominees at a time. You can always change it at anytime, until the selection date.
- Once a nominee is selected, we'll clear the nominees section to start a clear slate. You can nominate the same article again one month later. We call it a transition period.
- You can give your Comments in the section below, but any claims of supporting a nominee does not count until you sign under the Nominees section. Take care!
- Diablocon has the final say in things: he's in charge of the featured articles. Uweeheehee.
Rules:
Here are some things to consider when nominating:
If your article has any problems with the above criteria, please either refrain from nominating it or fix it up so it is up to scratch. Remember that the Featured Article is representing the best this wiki has to offer, not just a popularity contest. If your nomination has no votes after being up for four days, you may remove it and still use it next month. However, this offer is only good for the next four days, afterwards your nomination stays (day limits are subject to change until I can find good lengths). | |||

Alrighty, I've changed the rules slightly. Edit count now only affects your ability to nominate. Anyone can vote. However, if I see any sockpuppeting, the limit will be put back on. Diablocon 08:28, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

- Dissidia comes out on August 28th, right? That's three days from September, and that's not taking into account people buying the game later or releases in Europe and other regions. Wouldn't it be wise to save the game page nomination for next month's voting? 8bit 17:18, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

- @Hitherelol: Mainspace edits are changes you make to pages that are actually about Final Fantasy. You can see your edit breakdown at Special:Editcount/Hitherelol. As of now, you have only four mainspace edits, and have a long way to go before you can vote here. Don't worry, though: you'll get there eventually. I actually can't nominate Rosa anymore, at least not for a while. I'm nowhere near the number of mainspace or image edits I need to be able to do that. Same with voting, otherwise I would. I had a tagline in mind for the month before all that though, along the lines of "April showers bring May Rosas." Thanks for nominating her though, SCM! PaladinCecil 00:32, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oh, didn't notice that rule. Oh well, I probably would have voted for Rosa anyway. --SCM 01:06, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
- It was just recently decided upon as a deterrent to people vote-stacking here with sock-puppets (the Discussion section for this article). There's a pretty good chance I won't be able to vote for a good long time, since I don't really come up with ways to improve the mainspace of the wiki that don't involve talking it out on article Talk pages. I want to scan a bunch of FFIV DS sprite images and add them to the wiki, though. PaladinCecil 01:18, 2 April 2009 (UTC)
The whole Ultros box has to be the best April Fool's Joke the wiki's ever had. I never thought the other two were that good anyway. :X Template:BfDsig
Ugh, this better not become a race between Aerith and Rosa. Diablocon 10:23, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- It be funny if all white mages were nominated for May. Squallinoa 08 19:43, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- I really doubt that'll happen, but it'd be interesting to see. The whole "race between Aeris and Rosa" thing, not the all white mages nominated in May thing. PaladinCecil 19:50, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
If Aerith's article becomes the featured article of May, we should use this image - Image:Cc-aerith.jpg. It's just a suggestion. Squallinoa 08 21:00, 3 April 2009 (UTC)
- Nah, we don't want that image (even if it's a suggestion). How about this one? - Image:CC-FFVII-_Aerith.jpg - MTC

Hm...I've noticed it's been a year since the Gunblade was first nominated on May '08. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 15:12, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Which is why, for the love of all things sharp, I suggest a regime change - refer to FAs as "Favorite articles" and be rid of this hypocrisy that is "Featured" >;3 >:3 15:17, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- What are you on about? They're called "Featured articles" because they get featured on the frontpage. Why on earth should we change the name when this does exactly what every other wiki does with a featured article system? Template:ILHI 15:45, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- Simple. They are "featured" because they are "favorite"s, as the above polling system seems to demonstrate. They are "favored" by the majority. If it was selected based on the decision of the working boss admin, then it would be fitting to call them "featured", as they are "featured" in the front page by the boss admin in charge >;3 AJDurai 15:50, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- We've taken steps to reduce the "popularity" contest of the vote. Only users who have made significant contributions to the mainspace may vote, other votes are removed. As well, only one game is allowed to be represented in the FAs. Orthros for example, means no more articles related to FF6 can be nominated for the year. And though it's not an official rule, Diablo doesn't much like featuring character articles repeatedly, though people still nominate Rosa and Aerith this term. Drake Clawfang 16:10, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
- I'd like to call this "reducing popularity" step a cosmetic change; while lessening the voters, the ones that could vote still vote for their "favorite article". If only users who made significant contributions to the mainspace may vote, then why not abolish this system totally and let the boss admins do the selecting? It is obvious that this "selective voting process" only favors long-time mainspace editors, of which I believe is a significant few. What about those who do not edit and rather prefer to read articles only? Those who do not edit mainspace, but still created the sense of community in this wiki? Shouldn't they get the chance to vote? Or do I see people practicing bias >;3 AJDurai 00:57, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- The system already works the way you suggested before Durai. The admin has the final say on what is Featured and what isn't. Primary examples are the Gunblade and Rinoa Heartilly articles. Both had won the voting contests but ultimately they were switched with something more appropriate in the admin's eyes. The voting process is more of a guideline for the admin to choose. Netherith 04:15, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
- Exactly, dear Netherith! But imagine, if you will, one voter. S/he votes, and the vote is the ones voted most by the majority - but at the end this article is not selected as a FA. Would s/he move on? The possibilities are there, but why make do when we can just remove the frustration of not being selected by not having votes! The boss admin would understand, and would love this suggestion >;3 AJDurai 04:31, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

In some sense this is more of a patriarch system. With Diablo being in charge of the Featured articles because he seems to be the most interested. Not to mention he is currently the most active admin. Everyone has their duties to perform. It's a bit like how, in a court, the jury makes the verdict but can be overruled by the judge if he/she deems it inappropriate. Netherith 02:50, 9 April 2009 (UTC)

I heavily disagree on the claim that Rinoa is the most underestimated character in the series; she at least has a fanbase and a search of DA alone proves she has it. That's far more than certain other characters will ever have. PaladinCecil 02:25, 6 March 2009 (UTC)

Wow only two articles have been voted for, all 26 votes are split right down the middle, and we still have half the month to go. Osf 18:54, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- That's pretty tragic. It shows that most voters aren't serious editors and this has turned into yet another popularity contest a la the Dragon's Neck Colosseum. Not a single vote seems to care at all about the quality of articles. --BlueHighwind ツ 23:01, 15 March 2009 (UTC)

- To be fair, it's essentially a popularity contest by proxy. The most popular characters get the most work done on their articles, therefore they're the best quality, therefore they get voted into Featured. This can readily be seen with Rydia, Cloud, Sephiroth, Bahamut and FF7 back in 2006, while some (like Marche for March) get Featured because they play on a quirk of the time. PaladinCecil 00:10, 16 March 2009 (UTC)

Would the Gunblade article be considered a FFVIII article or a neutral due to it's featuring of numerous games?Netherith 01:18, 27 March 2009 (UTC)
For May's featured article, we should nominate Aerith Gainsborough! Since May is all about mother's day, and memorial day in remembrance to our lossed love ones and sometimes May's about the flowers, we should nominate Aerith for May!! Squallinoa 08 05:32, 1 April 2009 (UTC)
- Oppose, simply because with Rinoa we now have had three character FAs in a row. And if we did select a May-themed character, it out to be Beatrix for her music theme.

For future personal reference, if I put Rosa up for nomination but shortly afterward another article that's pretty much guaranteed to win gets nominated, would I be allowed to pull my nomination and use it the next month instead? I obviously do NOT mean this month, I'm talking about when it's the start of the month and the nominations have been up for only a few days. PaladinCecil 16:41, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

- Chocobo - I'll be nominating this every other month until it wins. --BlueHighwind 15:20, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Theme of Love- A romantic theme for the month of love. -wormyvaco
- This is a good idea, appropriate for February and all. But I don't believe two music articles in a row is going to be allowed. Faethinverba volant
- This one absolutely has my vote!! User:Cecil the Paladin
- It got mine vote.... Abel
- Ahriman- Why not? It's an interesting monster. And I like it. -User:Kikuichimonji

- Another reason Kuja should be the FA - Valentine's Day. Who better than the Shakespearean Transvestite? Drake Clawfang 06:33, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- Didn't see that you have to wait a month before you can nominate a character again until after I re-read the rules very carefully. I had a feeling 2009 would suck more for me than 2008 did. I'll leave it for someone else to remove, because I want to keep pretending she could've had a chance for once because of Valentine's Day. I'll be back in a month to nominate her again. PaladinCecil 07:12, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- I removed her. I'll probably move and reword the transistion rule to make it more obvious. Diablocon 16:21, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
Uh, why was my thing removed? It doesn't violate any rules, as I nominated Chocobo in November, and now its January. --BlueHighwind 16:30, 1 January 2009 (UTC)

- Squallinoa_08 - I LOVE THE PRELUDE! Hey, is there a way you can play the prelude in the main page???
- Such a nice song. --Gamer2127
- Use a picture for the main page, though. Template:BfDsig
- I think it's one of the best musical peices in the series. Especially XII's version. --HighwindAsylum 02:28, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
- Yay Prelude! A picture of a scene where the Prelude plays would probably work out good (Crystal Room in IV, etc.) Or maybe a simple crystal picture. 8bit 02:29, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

- Rosa Farrell - As per the usual, a character vastly underappreciated that had a massive impact on the way the series developed and usually gets hated for starting what later characters would copy. PaladinCecil 10:04, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

- Hey! I have an idea! How about getting more nominees instead of disscussing the fact that there are more places in the world where it isn't freezing cold in January?- Henryacores^ 19:29, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- The reason for my initial comment was, not so much to prove the guy who nominated Shiva wrong, but show that his reason for nominating her was inadequate, seeing that many users do not go through winter (or through any mildly colder season at all) during January. Faethinverba volant
- Its so cold in scotland, one of my friends had to be sent to hospital. Ultima The High Seraph 20:45, 1 December 2008 (UTC)

It time for a FF8 article to be RECOGNIZED!!! Squall and the card game have both been featured in the past, so you're emphasis is odd. Diablocon 22:17, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
- WHAT? Triple Triad was a featured article? Before Squall and the gunblade? WTF? Triple Triad sucks! Oh well, at least 2 FF8 articles were featured. Squallinoa 08 22:43, 1 December 2008 (UTC)
Hey guys! The featured article for February should be Aerith! She was born on February 7 and she hasn't been featured yet! Although I want Rinoa to be featured, I guess I'll have to wait! Maybe Rinoa can be March's featured article! Squallinoa 08 06:41, 13 December 2008 (UTC)
- Good idea, but I don't want Rinoa to be March's featured article. Maybe Celes as the featured article for March? She's born on the same month as me. MTC
