Here's where you can nominate and vote on articles to be featured on the front page.

  • To nominate, simply write your nomination in bold under the most recently dated section, with a brief reason why if you wish, and sign your posts with ~~~~. A nomination is equal to a vote, and it is one nomination per user.
  • To vote, simply sign with # ~~~~ under the nominees to symbolize your support, with a brief reason why if you wish. You can vote for as many as two nominees at a time. You can always change it at anytime, until the selection date (the 1st day of the month).
    • Due to a slowing down of nominations in recent months, it is no longer a rule that five nominees must be up until voting can begin. A single nominee will suffice from now on; of course, additional nominations may be added up until the winner is selected.
  • Once a nominee is selected, we'll clear the nominees section to start a clear slate. You can nominate the same article again one month later, eg. unselected nominations in January may be repeated only from March. We call it a transition period.
  • You can give your Comments in the section below, but any claims of supporting a nominee does not count until you sign under a nominee section.

Here are some things to consider when nominating:

  • Is the article detailed enough?
  • Does it have red links or links to disambigs? If so, can they be fixed?

If your article has any problems with the above criteria, please either refrain from nominating it or fix it up so it is up to scratch. Remember that the Featured Article is representing the best this wiki has to offer, not just a popularity contest.

If you wonder how a Featured Article should look like, you can view the list of outstanding articles on our Wiki page, Good Articles, and read the articles in the section called "List of Good Articles".

If your nomination has no votes after being up for four days, you may remove it and still use it next month. However, this offer is only good for the next four days, afterwards your nomination stays.

I would like to apologise to Keltainentoukokuu, who is quite possibly the most active nominator here, for my removal of my vote from Hiroyuki Ito's nomination last month. Ito's nomination was well justified and is indeed a work of art on our database, but with the disputes over its recent editing, and the protection the article has been put under due to this, I could no longer have faith in its display on our main page due to it being a war hub recently, and thus felt it inappropriate to be October's Featured Article. However, I very much look forward to seeing it re-nominated from December.

  • Mognet (Final Fantasy III) - Incredibly detailed and I would have nominated the FFIX version of the article, but we already had Dali and Iifa Tree a while back. Though I know the rule no longer exists about nominating two articles from a game, I still feel that we should try to avoid it. Also III could do with some more love. I strongly oppose the nomination of Ito's page unless we protect it. The page is prone to a lot of back-and-forth edit warring, not the sort of thing I'd trust to be a FA. Drake Clawfang (talk) 21:04, September 1, 2013 (UTC)

Hmmm, yeah, I remember the issues. But that'd be the same as if Aeris' article was being nominated. Which went on to be FA despite being a constant target of people who want her name spelled their way. If Ito comes to be FA, I'll request a page protection along with it to be on the safe side. The garif article has been greatly improved to be more consistent with other XII race articles. In hindsight I probably should have cross-examined it with the other articles before nominating but now I truly feel it's worthy of a few votes. With Potion lacking images and having at least one stub, at this time I feel it's not an ideal candidate for the Featured Article this month. However, saying that, it is a high quality article with what it already has and I'd like to see it as the FA in the future, hopefully with the remaining information added. If we're going to go with Good Articles in the future, it may be a good idea to lose the "five nominations before we vote" rule, as it stands now voting is slow and with a smaller pool of articles to choose from the process will get even slower. Let's just go like, we wait a couple days from the 1st to begin voting so people who want to nominate can do so and earlier nominees don't get extra votes on account of being brought up earlier. RE: Dali. I wrote the page while playing through the Disc 1 event, and then tried to smooth out the more important info from other discs via YT videos. I wrote a summary explaining what the page was still lacking "needs musical themes still (i play with my sound off on my emulator so i didn't pay attention) [...] also there's missing stuff for late-game, such as where the innkeeper goes, and chocobos and stuff. i'm not there yet". 89.243.247.118 13:04, April 21, 2013 (UTC)

You might have been better off suggesting Clash on the Big Bridge...Big Bridge article itself is rather short and the bridge doesn't really do much except provide a background for a great battle. Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 20:44, March 21, 2013 (UTC)

Actually, the Big Bridge in Type-0 is the location where Gilgamesh is first encountered in the story. It's located near the border to the Empire, which is why Class Zero has an entire mission just stalling time and taking down enemies until Alexander is summoned, and Gilgamesh just so happens to show up. When you're hunting him down for ultimate weapons, there's a portal that randomly appears in four other locations in Orience. Just to clarify! :3 Mierna 14:12, March 22, 2013 (UTC)

I'm not a big fan of the way the Onion Knight article handles the Non-FF Appearances section, so I'll go clean that up right now. The Dissidia section is also painfully short; I'll let somebody who's actually played Dissidia fix that problem before voting in favor of it.

Firstly, the coding for Paine's infobox is old, because when we don't have things in templates they don't get fixed when everything else does. Secondly, I don't know what is up with the Blitzball tables, but that's not how wiki formats tables.
And that's all I can see from a glance. However, character articles are usually deceptive in their quality. The structure and aptly-looking amount of content can make any character article look fine at a glance.
My main problem isn't with character articles getting nominated (although it's hardly a preference), but with VII articles getting nominated. And because I work closest with them I try to stop myself from doing it too. 79.69.209.81 14:23, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
I think this is the part where I try to avoid making a quip about the Rinoa article. In any case, I've only nominated one character article in the entire time I've been on the Wiki, myself, and that would be Vivi. As for VII articles, the reason I nominate them fairly often is precisely that -- because you work so closely with them, you're more likely to fix any problems you perceive, and less likely to point out its flaws on the page, repelling voters. I make sure to repel voters from VII articles I want extensive changes made to or dislike in its current state. I remember Wonder Square being picked, and I voted both Yan (which I wasn't all too fond of) and Rinoa's (and I never vote character articles) article to not let it win.
Although I just realised what you actually meant by your comment, in that I'm far more likely to fix issues because I know how to solve them straight away, than flag them for someone else to never fix. Well, Junon and Rufus lacked information about Lateral Bio Turks; Fort Condor focuses on the minigame a lot and IMO it should be split, but even without that it lacks Locations; the also-storyline minigames available in the Wonder Square should have their own articles, and Battle Square suffers a similar problem to Fort Condor except the sole purpose the Battle Square article was created was to house the Battle Game info, so it has a free-pass.
I'm more likely to investigate VII articles to keep them from becoming FA, yes. It's still about quality though. And when I draw people to other noms it's because they do have quality, and more of it. 79.69.209.81 19:11, January 5, 2013 (UTC)

Well, I have no idea whether or not you're going to complain about something; I don't nominate articles with stubs or incomplete sections on the page, but that's not always enough to save them, so if you're going to have problems with it, I find it's better if you are also motivated to do something about them. :) Jimcloud 19:02, January 5, 2013 (UTC)
Well, in 2012 there were 6 character articles as FAs (a quarter of all FAs, actually) and only 2 FFVII articles. That's higher than average (there's a lot more than 12 games in the series), but for comparison, there were 5 XII or XII-in-Ivalice articles and 3 XIII and XIII-2 articles.
