Rules:

  1. You may only begin voting when there are at least 5 nominations up.
  2. You must have 150 mainspace or image edits before you can nominate.
  3. Whenever an article from a game is featured, it is striked off this list, meaning articles from that game can no longer be featured this year.
  • I, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII, VIII, IX, X, XI, XII
  • FFIVA, FFX-2, FFXII:RW, FFT, FFTA, FFTA2, FFCC, FFCC:RoF, FFCC:MLaK

Here are some things to consider when nominating:

  • Is the article detailed enough?
  • Does it have red links or links to disambigs? If so, can they be fixed?
  • Does the article have enough images? Does it look nice?

If your article has any problems with the above criteria, please either refrain from nominating it or fix it up so it is up to scratch. Remember that the Featured Article is representing the best this wiki has to offer, not just a popularity contest.

If your nomination has no votes after being up for four days, you may remove it and still use it next month. However, this offer is only good for the next four days, afterwards your nomination stays (day limits are subject to change until I can find good lengths).

@Hitherelol: Mainspace edits are changes you make to pages that are actually about Final Fantasy. You can see your edit breakdown at Special:Editcount/Hitherelol. Simple. They are "featured" because they are "favorite"s, as the above polling system seems to demonstrate. They are "favored" by the majority. We've taken steps to reduce the "popularity" contest of the vote. Only users who have made significant contributions to the mainspace may vote, other votes are removed. As well, only one game is allowed to be represented in the FAs. Orthros for example, means no more articles related to FF6 can be nominated for the year. And though it's not an official rule, Diablo doesn't much like featuring character articles repeatedly, though people still nominate Rosa and Aerith this term. I'd like to call this "reducing popularity" step a cosmetic change; while lessening the voters, the ones that could vote still vote for their "favorite article". The system already works the way you suggested before Durai. The admin has the final say on what is Featured and what isn't. Primary examples are the Gunblade and Rinoa Heartilly articles. Both had won the voting contests but ultimately they were switched with something more appropriate in the admin's eyes. The voting process is more of a guideline for the admin to choose. In some sense this is more of a patriarch system. With Diablo being in charge of the Featured articles because he seems to be the most interested. Not to mention he is currently the most active admin. Everyone has their duties to perform. To be fair, it's essentially a popularity contest by proxy. The most popular characters get the most work done on their articles, therefore they're the best quality, therefore they get voted into Featured. This can readily be seen with Rydia, Cloud, Sephiroth, Bahamut and FF7 back in 2006, while some (like Marche for March) get Featured because they play on a quirk of the time.
