:The above allegations BS created by a hostile user. I have done none of the imagined delusions he claims on this Wiki. Further still, whatever I did and was banned for on Wikipedia is closed case, just like a person going to jail, doing their time and being released. Just because somebody commits a crime, that doesn't mean they automatically go back on trial the moment they've been released from a prison. It's until they do a bad thing '''again''' that they should be condemned again. Until that time comes, all you can do is monitor their actions and make sure they don't step out of line again. ::This is a website about a video game, not a court of law -- but that's not even what Shockstorm is saying. He's saying you've been causing problems on the Hiroykui Ito page here, and is using your permaban from Wikipedia to back this up, not to say we should ban you here to prevent you from ever doing anything.
  +
::Anyways, I'm not going to block you right now because you haven't blatantly vandalized anything, but I will treat it as vandalism if you edit the Ito page again. I've also locked the page from editing from any new accounts, so nobody edit warring there can use sockpuppets.
  +
::Lastly, I'm not very knowledgable about Ito or any other producer, but could somebody who is clean up the page? I know SQEX has already sort of done that, but it's much better to be safe than sorry.

The Staff Noticeboard works to have your requests for staff action fulfilled. Just write your requests on the sections listed below, and we'll try to have the staff sort things out before the end of the week. Don't forget to include the timestamp.

Discussions can continue within a week of the Done timestamp, after which the request and discussion will be archived. We request that users not modify the archive content.

Note to Staff: Please place this project page under your watchlist. When done, please place a Done timestamp by putting the {{Y}} on the header and your timestamp. Comments are optional but encouraged.

Deletion

I uploaded better images for the List of Final Fantasy XII Enemies so I am asking for the staff to delete the old images.

Find the images you replaced and open the edit form on the file's page. Insert the {{Dup}} template. In the first parameter input the filename of the replacement file that you uploaded for each image. 79.69.206.67 19:28, September 3, 2012 (UTC)
Actually, never mind. Sorry Murilo, you uploaded over the old images, so staff does not need to delete any images. My bad :/ C A T U S E 20:17, September 3, 2012 (UTC)

There's a ton of useless Uncategorizedimages that need killing. Might want to wait until the article they're on is deleted, though. C A T U S E 04:23, April 25, 2013 (UTC)

There are quite a few articles in the speedy delete category. There's been some in there for nearly a month, as well as 100 images. Should probably be cleaned out. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 07:01, May 25, 2013 (UTC)

Y Done. The normal deletion category has also been cleared out. ScatheMote 02:43, May 26, 2013 (UTC)

This is more of a permission to Rollback than a deletion but I didn't know where else to put it- this anon has been repeatedly and at length been editing Fractyl's user subpages. I have no idea whether this person is Fractyl and they have not responded to my message- I believe anons do see these- and I have warned of a Rollback if they are changing stuff that isn't theirs. Thoughts? Tia-LewiseRydia - Young battle 08:50, September 27, 2013 (UTC)

Restoration

Not sure why "Final Fantasy: Unlimited After" was deleted. --Shockstorm (talk) 02:32, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

I'm going to guess it was nuked because of this article text, this being one of two edits to the page (the second was putting a deletion template on it):
Final Fantasy: Unlimited After picks up where Final Fantasy VII leaves off.
It is especially known for its crude humor (and being the first Final Fantasy game to have a paramount focus on comedy) in the vain of American Pie and Old School as well as incorporating pedophilic humor a la Lolita.

The game received negative reviews upon its initial release due to its defamatory remarks towards most of the women in the game as well as some very vulgar scenes of necrophilia (i.e. the protagonist using Anima's skull to perform fellatio).

Unlimited After was also the first Final Fantasy game to receive an M rating for its adult themes and for a hidden sex scene available after the final boss fight.

This game has been banned in the U.S., Nicaragua, Guatemala, Hungary, Cambodia, Ho Chi Minh City, Nigeria, Chad and Cuba.

Just a guess. Jimcloud 02:57, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

Merging/Splitting

Pretty sure Zalera and Zalera (Summon) need to have their histories and talk pages merged. --Shockstorm (talk) 21:31, October 20, 2012 (UTC)

Y Done. Merged the main pages. Talk pages don't need to merged I don't think, but if you really think they should be, I can do it. ScatheMote 03:15, December 6, 2012 (UTC)

Hiroyuki Ito and Hiroyuki Itō need to be merged as somebody decided to do a cut/paste job instead of a move and now the history's split between the two pages. Not sure which page is supposed to be the correct spelling though. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 14:57, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

Y Fixed. ScatheMote 15:29, May 11, 2013 (UTC)

Cat discovered another split history: Allied Forces of Altana and Alliance of Altana. Not sure exactly what's going on though, looks like two separate pages on the same topic were created and then one was cut/pasted on top of the other? Not sure what exactly needs to be done to sort this out. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 06:10, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Going by the talk page (which was originally flagged for merging with the Alliance talk page  :L) I'd say one person wrote the Allied page, then somebody else independently wrote the Alliance page, and then they failed at merging them, and three years later, they still aren't merged.
While I'm here, Category:Articles to be merged has built up quite a bit over the years. Other than Artefact/Artifact, Belito/Ba'Gamnan, and the mess that is Ruby Ring (Equipment) and its own disambig (which doesn't link to it...? what the hell happened there?) most of them don't need discussing. No rush (if they've waited 3 years to be merged, what's a few more weeks?) but yeah, somebody might want to get on that. C A T U S E 07:10, May 31, 2013 (UTC)

Greatsword should've been moved instead of having the content cut and pasted to Greatsword (Weapon Type) and Greatsword (Weapon). --Shockstorm (talk) 01:38, June 11, 2013 (UTC)

"Ultima (Summon)"'s history should be merged into Ultima (Ivalice). --Shockstorm (talk) 21:06, July 25, 2013 (UTC)

Protection

Hiroyuki Ito - There is a lot of see-sawing going on here. I don't care who's right, but the edit warring needs to stop. Jeppo (Talk | contribs) 18:14, May 13, 2013 (UTC)

Y Jimcloud 18:46, May 13, 2013 (UTC)
The edit warring over this is back. Probably need to lock every page that Gilgamesh56 and 78.146.25.102 are fighting over, as well as a notice that if they don't stop and discuss this, bad things will happen to their editing privileges. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 09:18, May 28, 2013 (UTC)
Y Locked Ito's page. I will leave them some messages later today when I have some time. ScatheMote 12:13, May 28, 2013 (UTC)
AND THEY'RE STILL FUCKING CONTINUING. I don't get it, how the fuck do you keep an edit war running for three weeks!? -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 23:08, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
Two week lock with the warning that if the war continues, the page is going to be locked indefinitely. ScatheMote 23:36, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
Do you not realise you are handling this the completely wrong way? There are two versions of the page. You don't need edit-wars to see which version has merits and to discuss them. The FFWiki should be good at identifying right from wrong. That's how we decide whether something is vandalism, or is too minor to be mentioned.
And if there is an edit-war, you block the users who do not play fair. I.e. you threaten Gilgamesh with a ban if he does not start discussing it and continues reverting. Then you ban him if he continues because he knows full-well what he's doing.
You block the page but you aren't tackling the key issues at all here. Besides, you haven't realised it's multiple pages?
I really do hope you don't think a locking to SysOps indefinitely is even remotely a good idea. JBed (talk) 23:40, June 5, 2013 (UTC)
Didn't this start happening the very day Crystal Tear warned you about some dude coming along and repeatedly messing around with certain articles, including padding Hiroyuki Ito-related articles? I've been watching this, and it seems to me the anon has been slightly tweaking the phrasing of anything related to Ito to make him sound more important (whether the tweaking is true or not I don't know, but there's an obvious attempt at bias going on), and Gilgamesh65 has been relentlessly undoing every attempt at said padding. Both users are being childish twats about this, and looking at Gilgamesh65's talk page, it seems being a childish twat is par for the course with him. I also find it odd that he would come out of the void after years of inactivity just to dog this anon. Something fishy is going on here. Espritduo (talk) 00:20, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
I agree, I thought that Gilgamesh65 showing up after this long just because of our Ito articles was really odd too. TBH, I kinda want a checkuser done on the people involved to see if anything fishy's going on. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 00:28, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
It started a few days before that, but yeah. I'm not sure protection will do any good, but then again neither will range blocks (if Wikipedia couldn't do it...). If the anon won't talk it out, looks like it's time for a game of whack-a-sockmaster :/ C A T U S E 00:30, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
Edit conflict x3: I never planned on locking it indefinitely. It was an empty threat; just gesturing in hopes that it would trigger one of them to finally respond as to why he keeps removing sections of the page or to just give up. Gilgamesh65 has already been threatened with a ban by someone else; however, I'm not interested in banning him as of now. If he continues when this protection lifts, I'll put another warning on his talk page.
The problem I'm worried about is that the two are relentless; even if I ban one or both of them, I suspect that it would not stop them for long. Protection usually dissuades editors; it hasn't even budged them. I agree that something odd is going on. ScatheMote 00:34, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
(←) Well, I went on Wikipedia, looked up G-Zay and his ANI threads, and found this and this. I didn't read all the way through either of them, but probably the most problematic part is the GameFAQs link, where he fesses up to creating that rumor from last year about how Versus XIII was secretly canceled. (I don't know if he's telling a tall tale here to get attention, but either way, not the kind of guy we want around the wiki) He was trying to draw Square Enix out into telling the truth about Versus, and now he's coming up with rumors about Wada (and possibly Toriyama and Ito) to provoke Squeenix into leaking more information.
So yeah, I'm not sure we'll be able to reason with this guy.:/ C A T U S E 01:03, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, I just got back from the Wikipedia side of things too, and looking at G-Zay's history and the kinds of edits he makes there, our anon is definitely him. Gilgamesh56 is...who knows. A sockpuppet? Ito-hater? Just a jerk? He might actually be a wikipedia user with a FFwiki account who was watching our site for just such an occurence (the Ito edit-war here started immediately after the wikipedia page was locked) and simply picked up here where he left off on the wikipedia. The most infuriating thing is both sides' refusal to talk about anything and just keep going back and forth. I say revert all related articles back to the way the were before either came along, lock them, give one last warning to talk it out, then ban'em both if it continues. Espritduo (talk) 01:14, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
I'm going to remove the stuff from all the warred-over pages now, although I'll need an admin to lock them after I do that. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 01:51, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
Both sides' refusal? Take a look at Gilgamesh's talk page. IP asked why. You can't do much more than that if they don't respond. JBed (talk) 01:53, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
Eh, you can seek a higher authority, or go to the talk page, or at the very least make one more attempt at communication. What you don't do is blithely go on your merry way silently edit-warring after one single asking of "why?" to keep up appearances of good faith. That is no better than the relentless reverter, and highly suspicious. If this anon is G-Zay from wikipedia, then he is very good at making it look like he is on the up and up, when in fact he's a total troll. Espritduo (talk) 02:41, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
Also can we not just revert to the version before. There are blatant corrections that have been made that you've just made wrong again. JBed (talk) 01:54, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
I'm not doing a blanket revert, I'm picking out the specific revisions to revert. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 01:56, June 6, 2013 (UTC)
Removed all the Ito stuff from 78.whatever, as well as some from 92.18.158.199, as after performing an IP lookup on the addresses, I have reason to believe they are the same person, and most of the fighting was over the phrasing of statements he added. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 02:22, June 6, 2013 (UTC)

SQEX - has consistently misled others while adding information to articles in bad faith using sockpuppets to avoid blocks. Track record on Wikipedia has also shown that he has repeatedly engaged in this sort of behavior there, so it's not a huge surprise (was permabanned in April '13 from Wikipedia, and promptly moved over here to continue his edits). Has a pattern of denying his use of sockpuppets and block evasion, and typically responds with unnecessary and over the top animosity to anyone who question his edits and/or identity. Admitted to sockpuppetry and ban record here. --Shockstorm (talk) 07:26, December 21, 2013 (UTC)

The above allegations BS created by a hostile user. I have done none of the imagined delusions he claims on this Wiki. Further still, whatever I did and was banned for on Wikipedia is closed case, just like a person going to jail, doing their time and being released. Until you have 100% certified proof I've done what I did on Wikipedia on this Wiki, you can't judge me. That's a how a jurisdiction system works. Just because somebody commits a crime, that doesn't mean they automatically go back on trial the moment they've been released from a prison. It's until they do a bad thing again that they should be condemned again. Until that time comes, all you can do is monitor their actions and make sure they don't step out of line again. Honestly, this has all been discussed and covered back in September 2013. I don't know why this hostile user is brining all this shit up again. SQEX (talk) 12:37, December 21, 2013 (UTC)
This is a website about a video game, not a court of law -- but that's not even what Shockstorm is saying. He's saying you've been causing problems on the Hiroykui Ito page here, and is using your permaban from Wikipedia to back this up, not to say we should ban you here to prevent you from ever doing anything.
Anyways, I'm not going to block you right now because you haven't blatantly vandalized anything, but I will treat it as vandalism if you edit the Ito page again. I've also locked the page from editing from any new accounts, so nobody edit warring there can use sockpuppets.
Lastly, I'm not very knowledgable about Ito or any other producer, but could somebody who is clean up the page? I know SQEX has already sort of done that, but it's much better to be safe than sorry.

Chat

Forum:Fora Rules and Wiki Directory has an error right in the second line:

Always be civil. Flaming is strongly discouraged, and repeated offences will net you tests and possibly a ban.

Tests should be warnings since we no longer use the test system. Also, in the directory:

#FFWiki (general discussion), #wikia (main Wikia IRC channel), #wikia-vstf (if someone needs blocking and the staff are not around).

#wikia is all but dead, as Wikia has moved their stuff to ##wikia and w:Special:Chat (which only works in Oasis). C A T U S E 20:55, October 20, 2012 (UTC)

"Most visited articles"

The top navigation bar used to have a "Popular Pages" section under Directory that showed the wiki's most visited pages. Now it has changed to "TopContent" that leads to a non-existent article.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 12:44, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

Oasis is being screwy for me. Does that fix it? Basically Wikia removed one of their SystemMessages (at "MediaWiki:TopContent") and changed another one... which has hashes in its title which means we can't edit it. JBed (talk) 13:00, January 23, 2013 (UTC)
Well it no longer goes to a non-existent page, but it doesn't have a drop down menu and it's not the same list that was here yesterday. XP Lightning Returns was supposed to be the most visited article and it's not near the top of the list at all. Maybe that's like "most visited of all time" as opposed to the "most visited right now" that it was before.Keltainentoukokuu (talk) 14:40, January 23, 2013 (UTC)
Oh. Okay, I think I know the problem. Basically, as I said they have system messages with hashes in that we can't edit. [link]. These message auto-generate content. Which is why we can't edit them.
But it has stopped working and it is just generating the text give there. I can't see any of this because Oasis isn't working.
So for now this is the best we can do until it starts working. The fault is not on our end (supposing other wikis have the same issue, I can't check). JBed (talk) 14:48, January 23, 2013 (UTC)
No, wait, Oasis is working again. Aaaand it works on other wikis. I'll investigate further. JBed (talk) 14:55, January 23, 2013 (UTC)
I'll give it a couple of days to fix itself, and then I'll report it to central if it's still being dumb. It's just decided not to work on this wiki, while other auto-generated dropdowns do and it does work on other wikis. JBed (talk) 15:27, January 23, 2013 (UTC)

Bug report: Images are erroneously showing up in Special:WikiActivity

Some of the edit summaries on Special:WikiActivity have erroneous "added photos" entries, showing that images were added to pages when they were not. I'm not sure how long this bug has been going on, but I just noticed it. (Sorry if this isn't the right place for bug reports.) -- Gordon Ecker (talk) 07:31, September 7, 2013 (UTC)

Side effect of talk bubbles with random elements in them. Not fixable and we don't have the tools to do so anyway. If it's being a distraction I suggest you use Special:RecentChanges instead. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 07:35, September 7, 2013 (UTC)
