The year was 2007. The venue? The Final Fantasy Wiki. The participants? One hundred and twenty-eight characters from the Final Fantasy series. With magic and might they fought... and Vivi Ornitier was the champion, chosen by voting as the most popular character in the series. This showdown for the ages was called Magicite Madness.
Magicite Madness II was held in 2010, and Magicite Madness III was held in 2013. Each time, there were more participants, from more games; more voters; more sockpuppets banned.
And now we're doing it again.
Four times the madness! (Please laugh at our slogan.)
Magicite Madness IV is a 512-man character popularity contest. Similar to the Dragon's Neck Colosseum, Magicite Madness IV is run using polls of the FFWiki's userbase in a single-elimination tournament; the winner will be able to challenge Zidane, the winner of Magicite Madness III, for the championship. The winner of this duel of fates will win ... well, that would be telling.
You must have an account to vote. You can make an account by clicking the login button at the top right of the screen; it's quick and free. Anonymous votes will be discarded.
Attempts to vote twice, for example by creating a second account, will result in the user being banned from voting in the tournament. Particularly egregious cases of sockpuppetry may result in the user being banned from the wiki, or even Wikia, entirely.
Votes will only count if they are counted with a pound (#) signed with four tildes (~~~~), which will append the user's name and timestamp to their vote. For example, a valid vote is #Tunnel Snakes rule! ~~~~ which would be rendered as

The Final Fantasy Wiki invites you to find out: how well do you know the wiki's userbase? Can you predict their voting habits?
Simply copy a blank roster into your userspace at User:[your username]/MMIV Bets, leave a link below, and then fill in entries. Each block you correctly predict is +1 point, while every block you get wrong is -0.5; blank blocks are worth no points.
You have until the beginning until the Round of 256, 9 July, to determine who you're rooting for -- this way, if there are any big surprises during the elimination round, you can adjust accordingly...
The user with the highest (self-declared) score at the end of finals, on 5 November, will win... absolutely nothing! Just as Kefka would have wanted...
