  1. "Whatever..." Nothing more to say. Hazetar 11:11, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

  6. He has a more tolerable personality. More stylish(Fur-collar jacket/SeeD Uniform/overall reasonable attire>Mini-skirt) And it takes a big badass to excel in using a weapon that can't function like part of it's namesake would have you think. Heart of da' Lion, baby! AnonyMan
  7. Lightning is pretty cool I guess, better than Squall. --Gamer2127 00:06, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  8. Because his gunsword is the original. Mynameissora 01:15, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  9. Because he has a scar, and the Lionheart, what can go wrong? PinkAye 21:48, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
  10. Because Disidia has done nothing but add to his coolness. And a hero who prefers to fight alone because he WANTS to gets points in my book. Sorry Lightning... King of Noobs 02:05, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  11. First, 'cause although most of Squall's outfit sucks, that's a cool jacket (all of Lightning's outfit sucks.) Second, because Squall's Gunblade looks more like a gunblade and less like an oversized switchblade. But most of all, simply because I hate Lightning (the character only.) Finally, go talk to a wall. Votes for Ms. Hair

  1. Because while I don't hate Squall and actually kinda like him, Lightning helps fill in the undeniable, unignorable void in the series where the much-needed female heroes should go. Plus, her Gunblade > Squall's, and she's badass enough to steal Kain's cape. Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:57, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
  2. Leon's a bitch and Lightning's hot. Nough Said. OwlEye

  11. PLEASE WIN!!!!!!!!!she's the coolest!Kayreeed 04:14, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  12. I think her hair is nicer. The random pink helps compensate for her GAR personality. Plus, Squall's looks oily. Lightning's look wavier and more natural...ignoring the color. ClixPsi 04:15, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  13. I did play FFXIII only for a while so I can't judge her full character, but Squall is one of mine most disliked protagonists in FF universe, so she clearly wins over him in this one... MMLN メーマウリアン 07:09, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  14. I prefer Lightning over Squall. Squall's personality really ticks me off, and though Lightning's personality wasn't so perfect either, my vote goes for Lightning. Destriker73 07:57, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

  17. Having played both games (and having yet to finish both *cough*), I've come to the conclusion, that Lightnings the better character for me. While Squall seemed way too cold in my eyes, Light's cold attitude just seems right to me. Furthermore, I consider her to be stronger, and so... My vote goes to Lightning MirrorshardSceada 12:12, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

  19. Because I finished XIII and love it. Lightning is a very cold character. but she's a girl, so it's alright. A.J. two (Smashboards) 14:50, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  20. She could kick Squall's ass any day. Not to mention, her gunblade shoots actual bullets instead of causing wrist cramp. Jamiemitsu FTW 19:33, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  21. Squall was enough of an idiot to carry Rinoa across the world map for half of the game. Lightning is a pretty hardcore dyke who actually knows how to fight, instead of just using GFs. Plus, FFVIII was stupid. oglop_master 16:16, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
  22. Munk451 I hate to abandon my alter-ego, but Lightning is really nice! When in doubt, pick the chick!
  23. I'm obsessed with XIII and she looks awesome. FFVIIACCXD
  24. It is an insult to Lightning to say she is modeled after Cloud. She is her own person and the interactions of the XIII cast as a whole far surpasses that of any other game. And yeah, nice gun. 8bit 02:03, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
  25. She have punched/slapped/bitched at every person so far. Another vote for Lightning. OavatosDK◕‿◕ 02:41, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
  26. For the record, Lightning is NOT my favorite character in XIII. That honor belongs to Sazh, followed shortly by Fang. But she easily takes third, and she still has more than twice the character of Squall. Nokareon
  27. Since the whole FFXIII cast are aswesome (except for Snow)and the whole FFVIII cast are annoying dull and lack any real personality, my vote goes for Lightning.Raven3005 08:30, May 7, 2010 (GMT)
  28. My vote goes for Light-san of course ~ HEH. Regoli11:41, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
  29. Because she's Lighting :> DragoonNobodies 11:51, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
  30. I'm not really a fan of Squall's personality; he seems too cold to me. Lightning's personality and character is more real than his. Her gunblade is so much cooler, too. Plus, she's like a female Cloud in every way. So, my vote goes to the pink-haired, female Cloud! <3 Hytey 12:45, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
  31. Lightning kicks ass! She's a strong female protagonist, She is super hot, and Her gunblade is badass! Sorry Squell you'll always be my guy in dissidia, but I got to go with Light.--Uzuki18 14:32, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

Unless I'm missing something...or it's actually a joke, I'm not seeing the hair thing. Lightning does seem to have a few similarities with Squall despite having apparently been design as a female Cloud. Heck their concept arts are almost the exact same. AnonyMan 22:41, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

I think we're both missing a joke. I thought it was because they both had gunswords. Mynameissora 01:14, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

I've not played XIII, so I'm not sure if I should really take part in this one. Er, go Squall? Apathetic Piggy 22:56, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

King Nothing Speak now, vermin! 11:18, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

WTF why is Squall getting his ass handed to him?!X(Mynameissora 14:08, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Maybe because more people like Lightning? Doreiku Kuroofangu 14:56, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Lightning is the new character, but she is so awesome. She takes Squall's weapon, Cloud's personality, and Terra' femaleness. I can see why everyone could be voting in her favor. A.J. two (Smashboards) 15:14, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
It could also be that people like Lightning because they are tired of seeing emos like her female counterpart, Cloud and her lover, Sephiroth. Squall doesn't count because he isn't emo, just a jerk/borderline douche. P.S. I voted anyway! 8D Judge Balthier Griever Emblem 15:32, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
It is nice to see that you took a shot at VII characters despite them not being relevant to this fight at all. It makes total sense.--Oranejo 17:30, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Well, thank you! I thought it made perfect sense as well! I can has cookie now? Seriously, it was a joke, lighten up and get over it. Go Lightning! Judge Balthier Griever Emblem 20:25, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
A lot of fans, in all fandoms, think they have something to prove by hating on the most popular installment in a series. Lightning is a new character (I can't judge her qualities as, again, I've not played XIII) who seems to have gone over well. Nobody's burnt on her yet, but eventually the fans'll turn on her too. That's usually how these sorts of things go. Besides, it's not like half the votes are for well-thought out reasons. Go song lyrics! Apathetic Piggy 19:20, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Seriously Lightning is a man in a skirt :/ She irrititates me as a women... FinalFantasyAerith 16:33, May 6, 2010 (UTC) I kind of get the hair joke. If Square were to do an updated rendering of Squall, I'd imagine his hair would probably look pretty much identical to Lightnings, just brown. Still...I thought the more logical comparison would of been the whole gunblade thing...Oh, and yeah, while Lightning may be a girl with a manly attitude, you gotta admit, Squall, for the better part of the game, is a man with girl's attitude...and I'm talking the moody "leave me alone or else" PMS girl's attitudeEyestothesky 19:19, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

What moody PMS attitude, Squall had Bi-Polar disorder, when? How is being extremely aloof and nonchalant equate to a girl's attitude?AnonyMan 20:15, May 6, 2010 (UTC)
Hey hey!! Squall does not get PMS! He doesn't nag or whinge properly xD FinalFantasyAerith 05:17, May 7, 2010 (UTC)
Nor does he run over people with the Bitchmobile like Lightning probably would! And futhermore, I'll understand people who call him a jerk, but he matures into a born leader over the course of the game. As for anyone who calls him a douche, that's nothing but pure ignorance at its worst: Squall is shown, generally speaking, to be pretty damned intelligent. He might not have as much sheer intellect as, say, Hojo or Doctor Odine (whom you must admit are both geniuses, if not super-geniuses), but he's definitely above average. King Nothing Speak now, vermin! 11:23, May 7, 2010 (UTC)

  3. BlueHighwind : The Queen of Light took her bow and then she turned to go
The Prince of Peace embraced the gloom and walked the night alone
Oh, dance in the dark night, sing to the morning light
The Dark Lord rides in force tonight, and time will tell us all
Oh, throw down your plow and hoe, race now to my bow
Side by side we wait the might, of the darkest of them all
I hear the horses thunder down in the valley below
I'm waiting for the angels of Avalon, waiting for the eastern glow
The apples of the valley hold the seeds of happiness
The ground is rich from tender care, which they do not forget, no, no
Dance in the dark night, sing to the morning light
The apples turn to brown and black, the tyrant's face is red
Oh, war is the common cry, pick up your swords and fly
The sky is filled with good and bad, mortals never know
Oh well, the night is long, the beads of time pass slow
Tired eyes on the sunrise, waiting for the eastern glow
The pain of war cannot exceed the woe of aftermath
The drums will shake the castle wall, the Ringwraiths ride in black (ride on)
Sing as you raise your bow, (ride on) shoot straighter than before
No comfort has the fire at night that lights the face so cold
Oh, dance in the dark night, sing to the morning light
The magic runes are writ in gold to bring the balance back, bring it back
At last the sun is shining, the clouds of blue roll by
With flames from the dragon of darkness, the sunlight blinds his eyes
Oh, bring it back, bring it back...

  6. I don't really know a lot about either of these characters, but my vote has to slide towards Shantotto. Not only does she liven up Dissidia, but her spells flow nicely together.Kamikaze Pardee 23:32, April 27, 2010 (UTC)

  8. I have only seen these two in cameos. I have to say I thought Shantotto's Dissidia appearance was more interesting than receiving missions from Montblanc in FFXII. ClixPsi 02:52, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

  11. As a long time FFXI player, I have seen Shantotto do horrific, horrible things to her enemies. As a long time FFTA player I know Montblanc is a decent black mage, but little more. Therefore, my choice is clear. Swmystery 14:46, April 28, 2010 (UTC)
  12. Since it's a battle of ability Shantotto would mop the floor with Montblanc. She's a much more accomplished character than he is. She's one of the big dogs in FFXI, she's not too nice but she's entertaining(esepcially amongst Dissida's cast)AnonyMan 19:25, April 28, 2010 (UTC)

  6. Marlboro may be annoying with that bad breath attack, but all you need is a ribbon and you've already won..Behemoth on the other hand, has physical strength AND meteor, and they were so hard in FFIV with all those counterattacks, they even had the boss theme played whenever fighting them..--Koori-san 12:04, April 16, 2010 (UTC)koori-san

  17. Behemoths can actually be dangerous(sometimes they can even be considered mini-bosses, see FFIV), while Malboros can be nuisances at most with their Status Attacks. Bad Breath is an useful Blue Magic in FFTA2:GotR though. Uppfinnarn 19:27, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
  18. Because they're huge, cooler looking, and don't remind me of a brand of cigarettes. Plus, in my opinion, Behemoths are a lot harder to beat. For Malboros, all you need is a ribbon or Esuna. Hytey 12:39, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

  31. A ribbon and that ugly deformed thing is dead. Behemoth on the other hand takes a bit too take down. 43. Solution, of NinjaSolution Why pity? People just can't handle the awesome power held in the Behemoth. I'm basing this vote on pure awesome, not difficulty or just being a pain in the ass. I loved `em. Every time I fought one in FF6 I felt bad after killing one because I wanted to look at it longer xD I loved them!

But god damn, I must have died over four hundred times trying to kill behemoths in the lair of the father in FFIV for the DS, and quite a few times in IX. Malboros never really bothered me that much, only time they did was in X. Caellach

  4. Behemoths hold true to their name. They're big, they're powerful, and may god have mercy on your soul if you run into one. Malboros are another hated enemy of the Final Fantasy universe, don't get me wrong, but they can't compare to a Behemoth. All Malboros really have going for them is their Bad Breath attack, which can be easily negated in most games. On top of that, even in games where I've had no abilities or equipment to prevent the effects of Bad Breath, I've never had a problem fighting them. Malboros have never defeated me, while Behemoths have kicked my ass more times than I can remember. They win this hands down. 96.234.74.96 16:45, April 18, 2010 (UTC)

  1. Because Malboros are my worst nightmare. They can inflict nearly every status at once, while your team slowly dies from poison while unable to hit anything and cannot cast spells. Malboro's equal trouble. Plain and simple.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun103:53, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

  11. Behemoths only threaten with physical power, and in some forms a last gasp Meteor. With Malboro the threat of Bad Breath is omnipresent and will mess you up unless you're wearing a Ribbon. Up there with Tonberry as the scariest recurring monster in the series, for me. Swmystery 10:31, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
  12. Behemoth Kings were dangerous to start with in X, but got were no longer a threat once you had Auto-Protect and Auto-Life, not to mention that Catoblepas was relatively pathetic. Great Malboros, however, were a constant threat (1/3 chance of using Bad Breath on any given turn), and would seriously fuck you up more than you can imagine. And Malboro Menace... oh God, after he killed me the first time with instant Putrid Breath, I didn't try to fight him until Tidus could inflict around 15,000 damage per hit with the fully-powered Caladbolg (ON SHINRYU!!!!) and also had at least 150 Agility, Accuracy, Defense, Magic Defense, 100 Luck, and armor with Blindproof, Berserkproof, Sleepproof, and Silenceproof (so he could cast Esuna to get rid of other status ailments. That was just on X. Back on VII, Bad Breath be damned, I ran the hell away if I met a Malboro, and I didn't change that policy until Cloud had Ultima Weapon and Omnislash AND was ready to use it at the start of battle. VIII wasn't much better, but I was at least willing to fight them on a regular basis after I had Lionheart, Quick Shot with 100 Fast Ammo, Zell with Meteor Barret/My Final Heaven, and the GFs Eden, Bahamut, and Doomtrain. Oh, and the humanity! Don't even get me fucking started on the Malboros in IV!!! Also, they sound a lot like a cancer stick (Marlboro). King Nothing Speak now, vermin! 11:45, April 16, 2010 (UTC)

  14. The brute power of Behemoths can often KO a party member every turn, but I'm the kind of player who never leaves for the next dungeon without a good stock of items including Phoenix Down, so I can deal with that. Malboros on the other hand, at least in the later games can Confuse, Sleep, Silence, Blind and/or Berserk the entire party, often as their first move. At that point you just have to hope and pray some non-Berserk party membrer gets hit with an attack so you can regain control and toss Remedies. Doreiku Kuroofangu 15:25, April 16, 2010 (UTC)
  15. Quite literally the creature I fear the most in all of Final Fantasy. Bad Breath will mess you up! You don't screw around with Malboros. Breezer226
  16. No! Run away! Run Away! Thats all, okay, thats all you could think when fighting the Malboro or I hope it doesn't use bad breath! Especialy later in the game when they get stronger! Behemoth is easy all you have to worry about is hacking and healing, with the malboro you have to worry about every single status effect hitting at once... thats a party killer especialy when your mage is beserk... so yes my vote goes here.KiraArik

  18. Both of them are easy to defeat but Malboro are much more fearsome the first time you meet them. A simple protect spell will save you from a Behemoth but a Malboro can kill you before you even get to act. 27. Malboros are perhaps the scariest things to grace the final fantasy series other than Tonberries... If you pit this thing up against a Behemoth, im pretty sure the Malboro would daze the living daylights out of that brute. Sure it's harmless if you have a ribbon or three (four for the oldies) but those things are a pain to get! Whenever i see one of these things pop up in a random battle i stare blankly at it for a minute or two out of awe, then i return to my team who's either half dead, suffering from every status ailment under the Moon, or even both! I can say i'm glad Malboros are end-game monsters as it'd put me off the area they inhabit like an arachnaphobic would a spiders den! They would do that anyway if it was not for them liking the final dungeons! Typhoon Wynn 23:40, April 17, 2010 (UTC)

  33. I honestly think that the molboro would win in a battle. Many people would underestimate something as seemingly dull as a molboro wouldn't be capable of doing much damage. But the thing is, many of the types I've fought in FFXII, they've all found some way to cause trouble. Like the Vivian. That ability it uses on you can cause stop. Putrid Breath is not a burden you want on your hands. Of course a remedy would work, but not so much since it only aids one person at a time. And esuna can't cure Stop. So, definitely the Molboro.Thunderbird30 20:33, April 19, 2010 (UTC)
  34. I have been effectively f**ked over by Malboro many, many more times than by Behemoth. JohnnyC 23:59, April 19, 2010 (UTC)

  36. Voting for this on the basis of it's status effects and the fact that some idiot on the other side thought they were only in VI theevilgood 11:44, April 20, 2010 (UTC)
  37. A Lot more annoying than the other SquallisbetterthanCloud 15:55, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

  39. This is a fairly tough decision for me, but seeing the giant malboro in the Fortress conecpt art makes me think that it's definately the more badass of the two. SonOfAJenova 18:27, April 20, 2010 (UTC)
  40. All hail the Marlbo... I mean, Malboro! FinalAnnihilator 20:23, April 20, 2010 (UTC)
  41. Although I like both Behemoth and Malboro as an enemy, Malboros have Bad Breath which proves it to be a better challenge than Behemoth if you don't have a Ribbon or two.DragoonNobodies 14:34, April 21, 2010 (UTC)
  42. Malboro would ambush and use Bad Breath, then Behemoth would slowly kill itself. No78
  43. Malboros are more iconic and unique for Final Fantasy than the Behemoth. Cool Monster tho, the behemoth The Rood Inverse
  44. I hate negative status effects... Johuotar 15:25, April 21, 2010 (UTC)
  45. Everytime I see this enemy pop up, I always give a long sigh! Especially when I play FFX I worry slightly when he ambushes you. Even though my characters are at max levels, they are useless when they all fall asleep with poison or when confused and poison. I'm sure if this compete again Behemoth. No offense to Behemoth, he is powerful but he is manageable. Bad Breath is the killer in this one. Zeypher April 22, 2010 (UTC)\
  46. The Behemoth may be powerful, and have more HP than is possible for your characters, but how can it compete with inflicting every FREAKING STATUS EFFECT POSSIBLE! You learn to play these games carefully, and protect yourself from status effects because they're more deadly that any bture strength enemy. I would say that the Malboro would beat out the behemoth in almost any of the Final Fantasy games.Bond em7 18:04, April 22, 2010 (UTC)
  47. In Tactics, all Behemoths can do is attack. Malboros have Malboro Spores. Remember that Dark Knight you put so much time and effort into? Just write him off and remember him as who he was. The Terran Storm
  48. I think both are awesome creatures, but when it comes to Final Fantasy, I think more people cringe at the sight of a Malboro than a Behemoth. I know I do. Mantlecore77 13:03, April 27, 2010 (UTC)
  49. As with every recurring enemy in the series, both of these guys tend to change in terms of their difficulty. Marlboro, while it doesn't always inflict EVERY negative status effect in the game (FFVI and XII I believe are examples of that), I've always found these guys far more annoying than Behemoths. On your first play-through of any FF they almost always appear when you least expect them (on a snow-capped mountain in FFVII?), and you usually won't have enough Ribbons to cover your whole party. Behemoths aren't anything if your healer isn't fail since they really only deal straight damage, and in games where you have some kind of taunt (e.g. Provoke), and he's not immune, he's easy experience for the most part. 1. . I give my vote because even with power-leveling, being caught off guard by Malboros would mean a game over sometimes, and because I always like to think Square was making a comment about cigarettes being deadly and giving you bad breath. Kinda clever I thought, you had to think about it a little. --76.175.3.192 10:01, April 17, 2010 (UTC)
  2. . I've never had a game over with a Behemoth. I have however had several with a Malboro and they're infuriating; the pain of watching your characters basically murder themselves in unbearable and I hate malboros for it... burning hate... 82.39.168.46 15:02, April 25, 2010 (UTC)\
