Week 142: Lightning vs Terra

FFXIII-Lightning CG
Dnc v
DFF Terra Render
WINNER!
Undecided
The first lady of Final Fantasy versus the challenger to her crown. With Final Fantasy XIII freshly released, Lightning is going to make quite the impact in the days to come, but enough of an impact to take on Terra's fans? WINNER!
Undecided

Votes for Lightning

  1. Lightning is everything a female protaganist should be: Iron-willed, determined, strong, and most importantly, not falling over every guy she sees. Also important: She doesn't care to know what love is. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 05:42, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  2. I want to like this girl so much, she intrigues me, she's just about the most iconic protaganist square have made (for all intents and purposes) and she is much more powerful and determined than any of her predecessors Hamfruitcake 09 11:30, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  3. I like very much her. Is determinated, has a strong personality, and is sooo beautyful. In conclusion, what better? ; ) .:Vaati:. 11:54, March 11, 2010 (GMT)
  4. IMO it's too soon to give Lightning into the fight, because very few people have finnished FFXIII and got deep into the story, so they can fully judge her character... But I am one of the few people who did not enjoyed FFVI a lot, and Lightning has something in her, what I do like about real life women, so she is definately getting my vote over Terra MMLN メーマウリアン 12:18, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  5. Never played VI so Lightning has to get my vote. JasarDaConqueror 12:46, March 11, 2010
  6. Honestly, I haven't played either game. But I have played Dissidia and I think that Terra is just a bit to soft, even if she is a mage. Therefore, the insane, non-caring character that seems cold gets my vote. Updraft Reiza
  7. What happens if you took kick-ass Squal and made him female? You'd get Lightning. Even their names are weather reference. And hey, isn't that another Gunblade-style weapon? If half the videos I've seen are true, she can kick-arse without going totally berserk and without no fancy genetics thing messin' with her. For once, I'm voting on someone I barely know. Noobking87

  10. She loves Moogles, she's one of few people that make green hair look good and even if her hair ain green it still looks good. 'Nuff said! --Sencilia 11:22, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  11. I haven't played too much of XIII yet, and I do like the depth of all the characters in XIII, and by the end of the game this opinion may be reversed, but as of now this is where my vote falls. VI is my second favorite FF game, and while Terra doesn't do a whole lot during the second half, she's still the main character during the first half. -Nokareon
  12. Seriously. Duh. Terra is the master of game breaking magic combos, while still being clueless about love. Lightning is a Squall/Cloud fanservice. Oh, and Terra's theme. I'm going to link to the orchastrated version on my userpage now.Terran Storm

Okay TA, I changed it, you can come and change it yourself now! I hast perform the ritual to summon thee, now thee must appear! I left the last fight untallied because if experience has taught me anything other than the above, it’s that I can’t tally the fights properly. ^_^ Doreiku Kuroofangu 04:54, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Smooth, Drake. Very smooth. I suppose that's one way to get things done around here. The Cheez TALK 05:15, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Lightning looks like the illegitimate offspring of some hideous pink-haired creature and Order Sol from the Guilty Gear series, and she's a total bitch. Terra is quite simply awesome. She has green hair (which is infinitely cooler than pink hair) and is so much cuter! FFVI also happens to be my favorite game of the series. The Cheez TALK 05:42, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

I love your logic, Drake. xD JohnnyC 05:45, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

I really can't tally the fights properly, I'm not sure how TA does it but we always get very different results, so obviously I'm not doing it right. Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:52, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
The thing is, he is right. TA has some strange someoneelsechangedtheDNC sense. FaythOfFenrir 06:06, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

This will be a very one-sided fight. Many people don't know anything about Lightning or haven't played ger game at all, while Terra has a decade and a half of fandom. I think it is poorly thought. Discordius 15:34, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

It's games like Final Fantasy XIII that make me wish Nintendo would do more than the Crystal Chronicles series... Now I'm gonna have to get a 360 or a PS3...Noobking87

Week 141: Falcon v. Blackjack

WINNER!

If you were an 8-bit holdover captain of an airship, and these two beauts to choose between to captain, which would you have? WINNER!

Votes for the Falcon

  1. Cut the Falcon some slack. I may not have the frills of the Blackjack like an unusable casino but, it's still a darn fine Airship with a nifty "round" design. (I do like BJ's color scheme better). Who cares what extra features a ship has as as long as it flies and gets to heroes to the baddies so they can lay the smackdown. AnonyMan 02:28, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
  2. Faethinte audio : No scene involving the Blackjack is as epic as the Falcon rising from Daryl's tomb while "Searching for Friends" plays in the background.
  3. Yup, the greatness of that scene is worth any vote.SquallisbetterthanCloud 10:52, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
  4. SEARCHING FOR FRIENDS FTW! Seriously that scene of Falcon rising from the water is megaepic Johuotar 01:00, February 22, 2010 (UTC)

Votes for the Blackjack

  1. Yeah, the Blackjack rules, if not just because of the gambling. ShirubaKurono Dissicon ff13 Lig323:40, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
  2. The Blackjack was cooler for a multitude of reasons. The sprite looked better IMO, and so did the interior. Plus it had the little dudes inside who healed your team for free and sold you stuff. Der Falke hat keine solche Dudes. Ich liebe die Blackjack! The Cheez 23:52, February 19, 2010 (UTC)
  3. Looks like my vote goes to the Blackjack. While the Falcon was cool and all, the Blackjack was a friggin flying casino. Plus it has shopping and free healing. What more could an adventurer ask for? My only gripe about the Blackjack was that you couldn't actually gamble at any of the tables. Kind of defeated the purpose. 31. Let's see; it has actual "Airship Music", it has a casino, it has vendors and the ability to heal, it looks cooler, and it's owned by Setzer. I do not believe this airship has a drawback. - File:FFIII-nes-sage.gif Saethori (T / C) - 12:34, February 21, 2010 (UTC)

Hm. This appears to be a landslide, if the votes from the first day are any indication. ShirubaKurono Dissicon ff13 Lig306:51, February 20, 2010 (UTC)

They're...basically the same...I can't help but being a little disappointed. Ah well, guess I should make a decision, regardless. The Blackjack was basically a flying casino which, while cool, didn't make any freakin' sense in context. The Falcon made more sense & was hinted at being a superior flying craft, but that also made it sort of a traditional airship, so it wasn't as special. Surprisingly tough call.Neo Bahamut 23:52, February 19, 2010 (UTC)

I agree in that functionally they're pretty much the same, but they each have their differences and serve different purposes in the story. The point is, this is more of a "which do you think is cooler" kind of thing. The Cheez 00:20, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
I suppose, but the extent to which they're the same is just ridiculous. For example, I don't understand everyone who says that the Blackjack looks cooler. They have the same model, except that the Blackjack has a duckbill on the end & an ugly scheme. Also, I haven't played in a while, but I'm not so sure you can't get healing on the Falcon.Neo Bahamut 22:20, February 21, 2010 (UTC)
I chose these two airships because ships like the Highwind are more popular. I did it as a throwback to the old school airships. The actually have storyline significance, unlike some airships (ie, Hilda Garde III) TheBlueDragoon 00:41, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
Hey man, no objections here. I'm a huge FFVI fan, so you're preaching to the choir. It was actually kind of a tough choice for me. I love the Blackjack, but how can one not respect the Falcon? I mean, there's more of a story behind it, and you literally can't finish the game without it. I had to consider that when voting. The Cheez 00:55, February 20, 2010 (UTC)
I love FFVI. With the impending release of FFXIII, I just thought it might be nice to do a fight involving an older game. I love the Falcon, I just like the overall design of the Blackjack more. TheBlueDragoon 01:08, February 20, 2010 (UTC)

Nah. You suggested a good fight. Landslides happen. It's a fact of nature.CodeNameRedXIII 16:32, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
I thought Falcon would have supa won blackjack, but it seems that people actually liked that unusable casino. And in that gilgamesh vs ultros fight, I made the same mistake. Seems like Iäm always voting the loser, no idea why though. Johuotar 14:51, February 23, 2010 (UTC)
Personally, I blame people for being overly predictable. Even I acknowledge that the Blackjack was a fairly unique idea, but we're likely gonna be stuck with at least 2 weeks of this. Need we have made it a boring landslide right off the bat & kept going with that?Neo Bahamut 02:37, February 24, 2010 (UTC)
Well, it was my idea, so I take the blame for the landslide. I thought it would be a good fight. Hopefully the fight changes soon. TheBlueDragoon 19:11, February 25, 2010 (UTC)
...To Genesis vs. Kuja.Neo Bahamut 03:14, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, let's do Genesis vs Kuja next if only for the fact that Neo may have an aneurysm if he has to request his fight in the peanut gallery one more time. ;)CodeNameRedXIII 16:32, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Damn straight. I assume all responsibility on the off-chance that the fight turns out to blow. Fortunately for me, "responsibility" just means "getting bitched at." But, seriously, I think it'll be a good one. Both Kuja & Genesis have a significant number of fans, they are similar, Genesis hasn't been in the DNC yet, & it had a decent amount of support at the outset.Neo Bahamut 20:37, February 26, 2010 (UTC)
Here's to hoping Kuja versus GEnesis is next. Neo isn't the only one dying to see that fight. I've wanted to see it for a while too. TheBlueDragoon 17:44, February 28, 2010 (UTC)

How long has this fight been going on? I'm still very much interested as to who won the Leviathan/Phoenix battle. Judge Balthier Griever Emblem 03:17, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

It's looking like Phoenix. Speaking of, I had no idea that Leviathan was a Keyblade in 358/2 Days.Neo Bahamut 04:37, February 26, 2010 (UTC)

I am not going to say anything... As much as I like Blackjack, I don't want to make Falcon lose by even wider margin. Aquamarine39 21:53, February 27, 2010 (UTC)

Got an idea - I change the fight and set off TA's DNC-senses, so he comes and changes it right and proper. ^_^ Doreiku Kuroofangu 03:20, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
