Uwee hee hee hee! Welcome, editors to the Dragon's Neck Colosseum! My name is Ultros the receptionist, and each week I'm taking bets as to who will win in a tussle between two characters from the Final Fantasy series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll, really, the Colosseum owner stuck me on this duty after Kefka was defeated but I need the money! So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you can remain anonymous! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules, Briefly

Functionally this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that week. You may vote only once. If you are a user, please include your vote in the user . If you are not a user, please include your vote in the anonymous section. It is important to do this because votes carry different weight and votes leftsection in the wrong section will be deleted. When a new fight is created, generally once per week, the votes will be totaled and winner decided. Ties may be called if the voting is within 10% of each other.

Week 65: Cid Highwind v. Cidolfus Demen Bunansa

Winner!!
Cid Highwind, one of the great dragoons in the Final Fantasy franchise, the only Cid that wasn't ignored entirely that did not make it into Magicite Madness Cid Bracket, faces off versus the winner of the Cid Bracket, the mad scientist Cidolfus Demen Bunansa.

Votes for the Dragoon

  1. Shyny: Unlike Dr. Cid, he was always with you and that left enough space for his character to evolve. In FF XII, you can encounter Dr. Cid face to face i think only twice and then few cutscenes with him, but that's all. Sure he is interesting but that is not enough to beat Cid Highwind.
  2. Rydiaofmist: He's the quintessential Final Fantasy Cid to me.
  3. ChiefKakashi: "Sit your ass down and drink your goddamn TEA!!!"
  4. AnonyMan: I'm not a big C. Highwind fan, but he's pretty funny and one of the only good Main Characters in VII. When he was the lead in Cloud's absence it was the best part of the game. As far as his status as a Cid goes he's probably....third best, with Cid Pollendina and Cid Fabool IX 2nd and 1st respectively.
  5. JARIITX: I'll take the Highwind over nethicite any day.
  6. I think they're both great but Cid being an ally is better than Cid as a foe. Adam mcduck
  7. Xadren: C'mon! He's nearly the greatest character in a FF game! There is no Cid better than him! Also, he is a dreamer and the first Cid into the Outer Space!
  8. What CK said AzureDrake 21:57, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
  9. Cid Highwind is the man. He stepped up for me when Yuffie stole my materia.--Oranejo 00:17, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
  10. Chocolancer: Nobody says NO to Cid Highwind! He's my favorite Cid of all! He swears, smokes, uses a spear, and is hilarious!
  11. gokus789: This Cid simply because he made my favorite airship the Highwind.
  12. Yuan: He's my favourite Cid
  13. Lockhart: Dr. Cid is not too bad, but come on, is this even a contest. Cid Highwind is by far the best Cid. Don't hate.
  14. Varehemsko: I never did get on well with C. Bunansa, and the character was developed too much in the third person. C. Highwind gets my vote, if only for my memory of being told how profusely he swore on the Sister Ray. Good times :) Also what CK and AD said.
  15. Chocobo Knight: Meh, they're both alright. Cid is a Dragoon (false Dragoon or not, he has a spear), he is a Highwind, he has that funny quote, and you know, he could have just launched his spaceship meaning his assistant would have died but he didn't. He was angry at her sure but he still stopped the launch and threw away his dream to make sure she didn't die. Pretty nice. Dr. Cid was alright and an original idea (a Cid being a villain) but still, he was just plain crazy!
  16. Pikmin Master: This Cid can equip a mop for a weapon.
  17. Mateus_the_Corrupt:Dr. Cid is being a total crap, though I didn't know him alot. Cid Highwind is only sort of Cid I know. Aside from Kain, Freya, Kimahri and Llyud, Cid was the popular and notable Dragoon everyone could know.
  18. Sora G. Strife: Cid Highwind just rocks, as he did get a swearword past the censors.
  19. SuperBossOMEGA: One vote for the one who isn't crazy
  20. Etch: Cid's the man what can u say
  21. GimliSam: Easily my favorite Cid of the series, not to mention the fact that he has the coolest airship. Ever.
  22. RedMage: I just like Cid(this one)'s character a lot more. Also, he has cool airship, and featured in FF:AC, which is great despite everything anyone else says about it.
  23. Sora_Rainstorm: I'd go for Cid Highwind, mainly because he is my most favorite Cid out of all the series. He also cusses a lot and that's always cool. Anyone who dreams of going into outer space and has the name Highwind has to be the coolest. Besides, it's kinda hard to imagine an evil Cid in the series. It's a little bizzare.
  24. Ifrit: I had no idea how to decide so I figured it would be fun to tie up the competition =).
  25. Drake:I'll vote for the character that doesn't suck.
  26. PhoenixDew I gotta go with Cid Highwind, cause I loves me a good spear, while Dr. Cid uses weird gun things... plus I just like player characters better in general.
  27. Slayerette: Doctor Cid has a cool voice actor but that's pretty much it. Cid Highwind is awesome.
  28. Triforcel: Both Cids are pretty awesome, but I find this Cid just a little bit better.
  29. tomtheroadkill: It's a difficult choice this one. I liked Dr.Cid as he has been the only evil Cid so far. But Cid Highwind is my choice as he is a crude, rude, killing machine!
  30. Terra_Homing: Oh come on! No choice at all...
  31. Falbub: These are my two favorite Cids of all time, but Highwing takes the lead by far. He's just awesome like that.

  1. The most badass is the one who has a worse mouth.
  2. Hes not as good as T.G. Cid, but Cid Highwind;s Limit alone will destroy the other Cid.
  3. Rainacide - I will have to go with Cid Highwind, why becuhs he's my all favorite character from FFVII & I use him even more than Cloud, he was a beast as a leader when Cloud was gone. He has pretty brutal Limit Breaks & he's just an all bad ass. Cid from XII ain't so bad either but...Cid Highwind is just...an all natural bad ass.
  4. Cid Highwing is the BEST
  5. Cursing Cid rocks!!!!! XD
  6. He may be on the rude side, but I have to go with Cid Highwind as being better, if for nothing more than he's a scruffy, blond guy who dreams of space. Though it's not in the game, I love it in Advent Children when, in response to Barret telling him to park the airship, Cid says, "If you want off, then jump."
  7. One of the Greatest Cid's around!
  8. Mr. Highwind, because he's a Highwind & obviously the most BADASS Cid around ;]
  9. go FFVII !!! :-)
  10. why are people suckers for the person who helped make balthier wow he's a james bon rip off get over it, now highwind hes were the moneys at

Votes for the Doctor

  1. Henryacores: "History back on men's hands"...Cid Demen Bunansa is probably the best Cid on Final Fantasy
  2. Blykus 19:16, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
  3. BlueHighwind: Well this is indeed a tough one. Dragoon vs. Mad Scientist. Cursing Wife Beater vs. Lunatic with a God Complex. I empathize with them both. However, this Cid wins only because Cid Highwind cannot perform Jump at will (meaning he's a false Dragoon), and because Dr. Cid is just the better character.
  4. It was decided in the Magicite Madness. Doctor Cid is the best Cid ever. Dark raven
  5. Pablo618
  6. Mymindislost: Gots to go for the Doctor.
  7. He made Balthier. Hexed
  8. Damn this is a hard one. Cid with the less votes gets mine. WeissTheImmaculate 22:56, 17 April 2008 (UTC)
  9. Crazyswordsman: It was decided in Magicite Madness.
  10. UndyingvsSephiroth: I would say this Cid, the other one looks cooler, but this Cid is a godly lunatic plus the father of Balthier.
  11. Aleria:Hated him. But because of that, he's such an awesome villain. He pulls off the insane genius perfectly.
  12. Ruler of Oblivion: Villain Cid. I like The Dragoon best, but this Cid all the way.
  13. SCM:Watch FFXII in a Nutshell. That's why.
  14. He's simply cooler. Elcan
  15. I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts. Dum-dum-dum MK
  16. He has a gatling gun and an army of killer robots, nuff' said Blackheart1991 11:06, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
  17. JZ He made Balthier, and Balthier rocks. Not as much as Yuna though. ;)
  18. User:dudutsai: This Cid was cooler by a ton. I dislike Cid Highwind. Shocking, but true.
  19. MeggiedONFF3 This Cid had evil mad scientist, wacky laughter, and graceful exits down to a tee. A refreshing take on Cid. So he gets my vote.
  20. Alcaeus: Seriously, the constant swearing got on my nerves. That's the main reason Mr. Highwind and Barret were never in my party.
  21. Darkling692: Having a god for an ally and a brain that copies the items that give godly power is something to fear if you only have a spear and a airship in your arsenal, my vote goes for the second best Cid ever.
  22. SacredMist: I would definitely go with Dr. Cid. The other Cid is a bit too...crude for my tastes.
  23. Aramis: Machine guns beat spears all the time.
  24. Acropolis: Crazy people are funny.
  25. Ctaylor503: Dr. Evil, I mean evil Dr. Cid rules! S-85 Cyclotrone, baby! Yeah!
  26. Mjka: Crazy people get all the fun. Especially since said crazy person has a giant cannon. Good people get all the pressure. And I love the threads and weapons. Gotta give respect to the man that can make the Manufacted Nethicite.
  27. 8bit_BlackMage: I vote for the one who can summon Rooks and has a bazooka.
  28. Because the fanboys will vote for the Dragoon later on. -- Nelo 03:54, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

  1. Definitely Dr. Cid is the superior Cid. He is intelligently hilarious and has a highly idealistic and unique character. Since he is the ONLY evil Cid, that makes him even more awesome.
  2. Well, this Cid has been the only evil Cid, so I guess that makes him more interesting.
  3. Anyone this crazy has to get my vote. Plus he has a nice costume.
  4. Dr. Cid, definitely. He wears the generic "evil mad scientist" stereotype surprisingly well.
  5. Well he does have a tight ass coat...and he help make Balthier
  6. If he could make a giant gun pop out of nowhere and use it as well as this guy, then maybe Highwind might be a bit of a challenge. But since he can't however, my vote goes to the the doctor that can talk to Venat.
  7. quite possibly the best mad scientist in the series (except maybe Hojo, the wiess thing was pretty cool.) in addition to the giant cannon, summoning an esper, and that strange laugh, he is far superior to the texan stereotype. and the whole "bringing down false gods" bit was pretty damn cool- Exdeath64
  8. Mad scientist Cid gets me. I don't know much of Highwind, since I don't remember 7 much, but I remember XII like the back of my hand. Crazy and helping to make Balthier wins me over.were is the fairness stop deleting coments you nazi
  9. A truly unique Cid; one that isn't necessarily evil, but one that is driven by power and madness to put the world back in the "hands of men"
  10. Someone as psychotic as him has got to win!
  11. He's stylish and arrogant and gleefully demented and doesn't force me to cringe through scenes where he's just a domestically abusive bully (trying to kill Balthier doesn't count).
  12. I've got to go with the malevolent Dr. Cid. He's a power-hungry crazy maniac... loves it.

This is one of the few DNC fights where I can except either losing without getting upset or mad. -- ChiefKakashi 18:47, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

I am pretty much that way in every fight. The only exception was the Materia vs. Junction battle. BOOYAH FFVIII!!! IN YOUR FUCKING FACE!!!! --BlueHighwind 21:55, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

TA, why did you pick this? This was in the Magicite Madness. --Crazyswordsman 00:54, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Upon further review, apparently it was... for some reason I remembered Highwind being in the Dragoon bracket. I suppose I don't remember voting for it. I only rather randomly voted in that, when able, and sometimes just for my amusement. I'm being pressured to do what people want and if people vote for this stuff, I can't very well say 'no' on some level. --TacticAngel 02:18, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I don't care if it was done before. This is turning into a good match. Their perfectly neck and neck at 10.5 votes each. The mumbling discontented masses should just be quiet. --BlueHighwind 02:42, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
It's quickly becoming one sided. It's currently 14.5 to 20. --ChiefKakashi 19:12, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Its currently 43% to 57%, which is only a blow-out in electoral college or when Hillary wins Pennsylvania by that margin. --TacticAngel 21:13, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
I said it's becoming one-sided. I didn't actually say it's already a blow-out. --ChiefKakashi 21:16, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
this one is rather hard to pick. one is a villain, the other is a party memeber. both are equally great in their own field. --User:VulpineNinja 20 April 2008
Seems still pretty equal to me. RedMage

I'm not sure I should call Dr. Cid evil, but he's definitely mad. Mad for power!! And he's the better engineer, too. Ctaylor503 21:58, 20 April 2008 (UTC) Wow...Only a 2-point difference. This is a good fight after all. --ChiefKakashi 00:04, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

28 to 28 as of this moment. Whoever picked the last two fights deserves a medal (hi TA), they have been nail-biting and I can't decide who to vote for in this one. 8bit BlackMage 01:55, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

@Anon vote no.8 for Dr Cid: to whom is this meant to be directed?

couldn't agree more. at least we know the fight isn't exactly onesided 8) VulpineNinja 23 April 2008

The Mad Scientist is losing... You people really have bad taste in Cids. Dark raven 18:20, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

Looks like this one will be another draw and it's only fitting that it is so, IMO. Both Cids are great characters and are equally respected. Bravo and kudos to TA for picking this one. --Tex 21:44, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Real Week 64: Garland v. Kuja

Winner!!
DRAW
31½ v. 31½
In the navy-blue corner, we have the first Final Fantasy Boss, Garland. In the lilac corner, we have the fairest genome in all the land, Kuja. Will Garland knock Kuja down, or will Kuja bitchslap Garland with Ultima?

Votes for Garland

  1. Badassness. Oath to Order 23:10, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  2. Hard for me. I eventully flipped several coins and made the vote for Chaos.--Otherarrow 23:16, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  3. I, Garland shall knock you all down! Hexed
  4. He has cool armor. -- ChiefKakashi 23:53, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  5. Aramis: Garland could knock Kuja down any time...
  6. JARIITX: Garland. Hands down.
  7. VitoRyu: Garland.
  8. FinalFighterA+: oooooh tough one... Wile Kuja is pretty kickass i'm gonna give this to Gsrland for a few reasons; 1. He came first 2. He can KNOCK YOU ALL DOWN! 3. He became the embodiment of chaos, and thats pure awesome.
  9. Cheesewow:I love Garland, and he is losing. Need I remind you all that he used some weird paradox that makes no sense to be at the present and the past AT THE SAME TIME, turning him into the EMBODIMENT OF CHAOS. Plus I like emphasizing and italicing AT THE SAME TIME, which I'm sure Garland could do a lot better then Kuja.
  10. Henryacorers: Garland is badass, Kuja needs trance to be it. Garland has a huge sword which divides in two, Kuja is bare-handed. Garland made a destructive 2000-year loop, Kuja destroyed an ugly planet.
  11. Blackheart1991: Ok two things Kuja's androgynous (he looks like a chick), and garland is a black knight who can transform into Chaos (the #*&^ing endgame boss)!!
  12. Crimnesi Rex: Garland is the original villain from the FF series, Kuja is just the puppet of a character of the same name, shame the old man plays such a minimal role in FFIX. I remember once I deliberatley let him kill me just to see all his moves. Any real fan of Final Fantasy would vote Garland over Kuja, then again disappointgly few people have played the early titles in the series. For those of you unfamiliar with Final Fantasy, Garland is a damn sight harder and more challenging than Kuja and Trance Kuja put together and is perhaps the most worthy adversary except for maybe Sephiroth.
  13. Big mamou:Like Hexed and Aramis said...Garland can knock stuff down. Plus in the original NES game he is the only NPC that you can talk to who will say more than one thing, during his speech at the end of the game. That's right, he can defy the laws of NPC physics and the laws of time/space.
  14. The Chocobo Knight: I don't have anything against Kuja but COME ON...this is Garland we're talking about here...Garland!
  15. User:clvabl: Garland the best yo
  16. Jammi568: Because he doesn't mave gender issues. Not that i have an issue with this, just that is you're going to be the main villian, then you better dress approprate to your gender, and if you're not sure of that, then, well....problems arise (see above picture of Kuja).
  17. MeggiedONFF3: Kuja is one of the worst villians, bosses, whatever in any of the series. I just can't take a guy with a tail seriously.
  18. Arausio: Garland shall knock him down!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. Ctaylor503: Garland is the archetypal fantasy villain; everyone else is a derivative.
  20. I have yet to meet Kuja in IX, so all I have to base this off of is design....--Oranejo 02:35, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
  21. Corrino: Was This Not Meant To Be IX Garland VS Kuja ???? Either Way I Garland Still Is Alot Better Than Kuja.
  22. Chaos40: Garland is the better one here for me whether we're talking about the I or the IX version. Kuja's big master plan wasn't even his own, he was just carrying out Garland's orders. And for those of you who are going to say that Kuja almost destroyed existance. He only did that because he found out he wasn't immortal and threw a tantrum like a six-year old. Not cool. Garland wins.
  23. DarknessGarland is better, because his picture. But it was a tie, I had no coin.
  24. Silent Meiousei:Go, Go, Garland!!!
  25. Acropolis I'm going to go for the one not wearing the man-thong.
  26. RedMage: FF1 beats anything. Hands down. Garland was the origional Final Fantasy villian, it's time he was given his dues, he's been in the buisness a long, long time. Kuja? He's good, but nostaligia blows him out of the water.
  27. SCM: It is taking me a lot of willpower to not make any jokes about Kuja. But c'mon, Garland could easily beat up Kuja. And if it was Trance Kuja, Chaos would kick his arse.
  28. TacticAngel: I find both of them to be decent baddies. Today I'm feeling more like Garland though.

Anonymous votes

  1. Garland kicks ass, unless he was the Garland from 8-bit theater... Then he would kick Major Ass(from the 8th royal reserve unit {too be honest the Major is kind of a pushover})
  2. Kuja is cool, but the original Final Fantasy villain could knock him down!
  3. I Garland, IX Garland: Both awesome Characters. Kuja should stop trying.
  4. Let's see, do I go with the disturbingly androgynous pretty-boy who's only good with magic and can't do anything physical, or the evil dark knight who becomes the Lord of Demons? No contest. I, Garland, will knock Kuja down!
  5. Garland ROCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  6. Garland is a beast. He'd have Kuja crying in a corner in seconds.
  7. CeKain Garland will knock Kuja down.

Votes for Kuja

  1. NickCaligo42: Let's see. Manipulative, clever, dastardly megalomaniac with a flair for Shakespearean works versus a shallow, dimensionless villain from a stone-age game whose most notable trait is a quote made out of a poor translation. I don't care who Garland thinks he can knock down. Kuja buries him as far as I'm concerned! He even turned the game's mechanics against the main characters. His only problem is that he let the OTHER Garland pick out his clothes.
  2. User:JoJo174: I played ff1 and beat it but i am only half way through nine. Even though i'm only this far, I still think that Kuja owns Garland.
  3. Rydiaofmist: I agree that using "cross-dressing" as an insult is stupid and childish. Personally, I've always been attracted to "feminine" men. For that reason, and for many others I'm casting my vote for Kuja. He's manipulative, sexy, and has an awesome dragon.
  4. Alcaeus: Kuja is my favorite villian.
  5. Pablo618: Hard one. I really don't know who to vote for: Coin flip =(
  6. 8bit_BlackMage: Garland didn't have enough backstory. Kuja has Ultima and made slaves of Bahamut and Alexander.
  7. Because there are far too many unoriginal people who use "Cross-dressing" as a cheap insult. Shut up, and find something new to say you pathetic robots. Program yourself for independent thought. And Kuja destroyed existance, doesn't that count for anything? --BlueHighwind 00:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
  8. Bob the geomancer
  9. This is a rather interesting fight choice. I expect it shall turn out to be quite one-sided, but we'll see, won't we? Well, if you need to ask why I would vote for Kuja, then you are clearly ...well... dumb. I mean, Garland CAN knock you all down, but Kuja can knock you all down with raining pink death-bombs. Garland has a giant sword, but Kuja has a giant dragon. Garland kidnapped a princess, but Kuja kidnapped a queen and her airship...and stowed her in a volcano. That's a progressive leader thinking ahead for our futures, people. --RB
  10. Kurenai Samurai I shan't take it if Kuja loses again. The man is a genius, he's poetic and refined. Plus, I happen to -like- his outfit. He looks good in it. X3 We luff you, Kuja! <3
  11. User:VulpineNinja: He's definitely my favourite villain. He's not exactly the stereotype villain because he seems to be a crossdresser. I can't say that he is one, he is a Genome so we can't compare him with normal (uncrossdressing) humans. At least he regrets his actions in the end...
  12. Kuja, always a good coice. He's a great villain, one of the most competent amongst FF baddies. His really only fault is his appearance but, Trance makes up for that by making him look alot cooler(for him anayway). Yep...if Final Fantasy IX were more popular I wouldn't complain if Kuja was as popular as some other losers villains in the series. --AnonyMan 01:55, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
  13. Chocolancer: Garland is ok, but he's not much of a villain because you don't see him until the end of the game...Kuja makes his presence known from time to time and is third place in my best villains category.
  14. Lockhart: No even close. Garland just doesn't have any depth. Kuja on the other hand, not that bad. Not the best villian, but way better than Garland.
  15. Sora_Rainstorm: Nope, haven't played FF one all the way through yet, so obviously I'm going for girly Kuja. He's one of my top favorite villians anyways. Let's see; he has a cool theme, rides a white dragon, and seems to have the guts to actually wear an outfit like that in public. And oh yeah, has the ability to control summon beasts like Bahamut and Odin. Yes, we had great times together... Great times. I was actually sad to see him go at the end because of his change of heart. He only wanted to be loved, that's why he said he didn't want to die alone. I'll always remember you. Fear not! Because I still have saved files of you so we can fight again and have the beautiful cutscenes. Farewell Kuja... *sniff*
  16. Alexander Namingway: Garland looks cooler but: Kuja is a schemer, Kuja has a PET DRAGON, Kuja enslaved BAHAMUT, Kuja knows ULTIMA, and Kuja just has much more depth than any villian that ever came from the NES era. (and he has a tail, Hooray)
  17. Adam mcduck: Garland ........ is my LEAST favourite villain ever. Kuja is my 2nd favourite so it's kind of obvious I'd choose him.
  18. tomtheroadkill: I personally like neither of them. But, to be honest, Kuja is better than Garland. Kuja has much more to do and goes about it in a better fashion than FF1's Garland ever did.
  19. Blykus 08:41, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
  20. Darkling692: Kuja kills Garland, any of them.
  21. Xadren: Kuja is, and will always be, better than Garland.
  22. Elcan: If it were the IX Garland there might be a challenge, with the whole midieval Vader style, but this isn't hard. Besides, dressing like a clown, dressing like Neo and dressing like a drag queen aren't so normal either...
  23. exdeath64- ultima, need i say more?
  24. Xmd5a: Watch the cutscene where he demolishes Terra, then try to tell me Kuja doesn't absolutely pwn in every sense of the word.
  25. arcanedude34: I vote for Kuja, who is NOT a crossdresser. Many men wear thongs. Just.... not many choose to wear nothing else. I just vote for Kuja over Garland due to the awesome way in which the former offed the latter. Muahahahahahaha.
  26. Jordanlee24: Kuja because basically you see a lot more of him during the game. In addition, you can see Kuja's personality developing throughout the game resulting in him threatening the whole of Gaia and Terra. On the other hand, Garland wants to defeat everyone carelessly whereas Kuja had a plan. Garland is like The Incredible Hulk lol
  27. Aleria: Well, not having played either game, I have to go with Kuja simply because he looks cooler.
  28. craigrules14: all i can say is he gets my vote, to many reasons to list...

Anonymous votes

  1. Kuja has a good past which gives him a reason to destroy everything. His clothes aren't that bad. He's got a silver dragon. And, in the end he realizes his mistakes.
  2. Kuja. Just... Kuja. Abooya.
  3. Troy: This was a tough vote. I have to go with Kuja because he brought us Vivi. Also can't help but notice all the crossdresser comments are on this side and don't seem to be being used for Garland.
  4. Kuja... mainly because he had a personality, a backstory, an agenda, and shows up more than five minutes for the entire game.
  5. Kuja defiantly. One Kuja is awsomer, two He doesn't look like a Demon.
  6. Kuja as far as im concerned he pulls off his outfit and has way more character development than garland. Villains are more enjoyable when theres some complexity to them.
  7. Kuja is simply awesome, whereas Garland is merely amusing. He looks awesome (though I shan't go any deeper into that); even if it wasn't his final goal, he did destroy a planet; he's so wonderfully theatrical, and finally, he has got the prettiest base I have ever seen, in addition to an auction house and a silver dragon.

Oh please do. I'm up for a lark. --BlueHighwind 00:21, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I don't see what the huge fuss is about commenting on Kuja. What's the difference between calling him a cross dresser and shouting death threats at Yuffie? The former may offend cross-dressers and the latter may offend Yuffie-fans. Why do we persecute a single sector of speech over others? I can see giving out test templates for obscene slurs or making real people the target of mean-spirited comments, but seriously. I think Kuja is somewhat apparel-confused, but I don't see why it would offend some. 8bit BlackMage 23:48, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
Because liking or hating Yuffie is an opinion. For some people, cross-dressing is part of who they are. --Alcaeus

One thing that's bothering me is why is Kuja fighting Garland(FF1)? --Alcaeus

Your statement was rhetorical. People like or dislike someone or something because of who/what they are or they aren't, whether it's because Kuja "cross-dresses", Yuffie is a "annoying as hell", or Laguna is "a #$%^ing idiot". We can dislike real people because they are annoying as hell, are ^%&#ing idiots, or are cross-dressers. And I think Kuja would destroy the FF9 Garland, because people would dislike him for being a minor plot device that no one knows about, died fairly quickly, and blathered on and on incessantly during the final dungeon. 8bit BlackMage 00:42, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Got that right, Garlic is one of the most incessent blatherers in Final Fantasy history. He's also the biggest nut-job ever. A really funny bunny. --BlueHighwind 00:59, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Because disliking or making fun of cross-dressers is a form of discrimination. Check out the third bullet on this page for more information. To all the people that complain about Kuja being gender-confused: What makes Kuja "gender-confused?" He is not wearing women's clothing, he doesn't even act like a woman and he never mentions wanting to be a woman. Therefore, he's not "gender-confused," he's just pretty. --Alcaeus

Why doesn't this fight get an introductory paragraph? Every other fight gets one.Adam mcduck

Blykus: This was a bit of an unfair vote on my part, since I haven't played the original Final Fantasy.

Don't worry you're not missing much if you haven't. Garland's really was only around the very begining and the very end of the game. He may have been the First FF Villain but nostalgia alone won't make you a good one. Though, Garland isn't THAT bad. AnonyMan 15:53, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

UGH. Seeing that pic of Kuja makes me cringe. I'm boycotting this fight until TA decides to use a pic of Garland without a big ugly sword and a pic of Kuja that's not reeking of Nomura. --Crazyswordsman 18:27, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

I think its the fairest set of illustrations since they are equivalently well rendered and in the same style whereas the Amano illustrations really don't look convincingly like something we remember seeing in a game. I'm looking forward to seeing Desidia, or whatever, though. I can almost guarantee it will suck though. --TacticAngel 19:26, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
CSM, stop complaining and just vote. --Alcaeus
I think Kuja's picture's fine mainly because it's impossible for him to look any worse(Trance gets a pinch of coolness), and his Dissida picture is slightly similar to his Amano Picture. Garland's picture is ok, but that Sword is just dumb. Not a fan of Nomura or Amano(but his best art is from FFIX so he gets the nod). AnonyMan 19:43, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I may be alone when I say "Yoshida FTW." --TacticAngel 21:07, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm also a Yoshida supporter. Then again, my support of him fell a hell of a lot after he designed FFXII. What was he smoking when he made Vaan? --BlueHighwind 22:11, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Vaan's cool. Only bad thing about his design is his hair. His lack of a shirt is annoying but you get used to it. And it gives him a bit of an Aladdin look. They're are plenty of other wrose designs in XII, like Basch or Reddas. And Reks, wearing crap like that is no wonder he went out like a sucka. AnonyMan 22:39, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Don't you dare knock Reddas! He's badass enough to wear whatever he wants. The pink pants just show how evolved he is. "I don't care if I look fruity, I'm still a black mothafucka out for blood". Vaan however, proves himself to be just as lame as his outfit suggests (Aladdin doesn't have spray-painted abs). At least Reks died fighting for his country. Vaan just hung around like an idiot. --BlueHighwind 22:50, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm not knocking Reddas, he was indeed cool. Just didn't look cool. I'm just annoyed at everyone hating on Vaan. And no Penelo hung around like an Idiot, he was there because of her. Just becuase Vaan doesn't have some "deep" backstory or focus doesn't mean he's not awesome. And again about the abs, really not a problem. AnonyMan 23:19, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, Yoshida didn't design Garland or Kuja. And Nomura butchered them the way he did Setzer (oh, and I will NOT let you use Setzer's KH pic if you put him in a fight. Yes, Yoshida is a very, very talented designer and I never said anything bad about him. I love his work (except Vaan and Larsa, but he fixed Vaan up for FFTA2). --Crazyswordsman 05:14, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
Actually it does. Vaan has no purpose other than to annoy me. I can't stand how every time I walk into any town I have to look at his ugly mug. I can't stand his voice, I can't stand his clothing, and I can't stand his personality (what little of it there is). Never once does Vaan have anything interesting to say. There are four better characters in the party and countless outside of it, but instead we have little prissy no-shirt as the supposed hero. Vaan managed to prove exactly everything what Final Fantasy's detractors were saying for years, just when the series was beginning to get past all its old cliches. He's fanservice for little Japanese school girls who like yoai guys for some self-destructive reason. Nothing more. --BlueHighwind 23:25, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
Hey! not all japanese schoolgirls are like that. You are discriminating the whole group of Japanese girls and that really is not cool. >:(
Alright, I'll agree with the fanservice bit, he didn't need to get catapulted into "Hero" status, then again he's not really the hero just the character who's point of view you're playing from. He's still not bad and doesn't deserve all the flak, he has a decent personality. The rest of the party weren't that spectacularly interesting either, Ashe was annoying, Fran is especially guilty she's the most boring in the party and has the worst attire.AnonyMan 23:38, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
  • When I said introduction that's not what I had in mind ... Adam mcduck

I don't know why people complain about the abundance of androgynous characters in FF or about crossdressing. What does that have to do with anything? Not to mention that basically every video game, anime and manga out of Japan has them. Seriously, there's nothing to get worked up over; just because a character looks girly, it doesn't mean that they are bad. I personally like girly characters (not that they are hard to find). And Kuja is hardly girly as compared to say, Ritsu, Lucius or Ranka YuanchosaanSalutations! 03:50, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Or Haku. Oath to Order 03:53, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Waitaminute, Lucius a guy!? On a side, note, also Kazuki and nonetheless, Arc System character everyone is gay for.--OlegnaOlen 12:36, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

Elcan: Is the intro for this fight vandalism or not? I can't tell.

I invite someone to write an intro that doesn't have to do with kittens. Adam wanted an intro though, so... we have one. --TacticAngel 17:25, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
Well it did seem stupid that it had no intro as every other fight gets one. But, like I said, kittens wasn't what I had in mind, so I'm glad it's changed. Adam mcduck

A few people voted for Garland based on his and Kuja's appearance. Has no one heard of the saying "Don't judge a book by its cover?" Kuja has more personality than almost all of the FF villians combined. --Alcaeus

This person speaks some truth. I figure most people who cite that reason as to not vote for Kujap probably haven't played IX to know how good of a character/villain he is. AnonyMan 22:43, 13 April 2008 (UTC)
Sometimes if you have not read the book all you have to judge by is the cover, and since this is just a fun little contest with fictional characters there really is no harm in it.--Oranejo 00:22, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
But there are still links to each character's page. If a person doesn't know anything about the character, he or she can just check out their background info. It's a better alternative than just voting for someone because the other character has a feminine appearance. --Alcaeus

This matchup's been the most balanced and evened out in a long while. Though Kuja should be blowing Garland out the water, it's just another testament of FFIX's obscurity. AnonyMan

Sigh, more people are interested in Hexedmagica's popularity contest, that even the DNC hasn't had someone vote in a while. Come on Kuja, bitchslap Garland back into obscurity! --Alcaeus

As a side noted comment since there is a bit of talk and votes on it, I like the complexity and character development of Kuja I must give him that. However I find that IX Garland (which is what I thought this battle was for originally) is more complex and if given the chance would of had very good development. Is there any comments anyone would like to add on this or IX Garland in general? Corrino
Garland is an odd character. He really becomes a main part of the story near the end of Disk 3 and dies shortly after. Then he starts spouting nonsense in Memoria (Like that one memory of Garnet and her mother being Zidane's memory rather than Garnet's memory). While he did a lot more than Final Fantasy I's Garland, he was overshadowed by Kuja. After all, Kuja did kill him (after the main party weakened him). There really isn't that much info on FFIX's Garland to make him memorable. It's not even known who/what he was. He could have been a genome, a robot or even Garland(FFI). --Alcaeus

Is this FFI Garland or FFIX Garland? Cuz if it's FFIX Garland, then I'm going to laugh at all the people who are saying Garland can beat Kuja in a fight.--Arcanedude34

"In the navy-blue corner, we have the first Final Fantasy Boss, Garland." RedMage

You know, if CeKain would have put his vote in the user section instead of the Anon section, Garland would have won by half a point. XD...This fight was actually close, I like that. --Oranejo 00:05, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
If you are a user, please include your vote in the user section. If you are not a user, please include your vote in the anonymous section. It is important to do this because votes carry different weight and votes leftsection in the wrong section will be deleted. That means this vote shouldn't be counted at all. Dark raven

Oops Week 64: Vayne Carudas Solidor v. Seymour Guado

Winner!!
Vayne

36 v. 22

The evil Prince versus the maester of Yevon and leader of the guado, which one can assume is something like a misspelled Master. Which of these cunning, powerful autocrats has the brains, power, and ability to see himself through to victory?

Votes for Vayne

  1. Mymindislost: Seymour sucks, Vayne doesn't. What more do I need to say? :P
  2. ChiefKakashi: God...I bet this fight is gonna suck more than the last one...
  3. Adam mcduck: Seymour sucked.
  4. Of all the fights to repeat, this was certainly one of the worst. Even I have to comment on what a bad idea this was. Who ever liked Seymour? Nobody. --BlueHighwind.
  5. I hate Seymour, I hate Seymour, I hate Seymour. He sucked so much.Cheesewow
  6. Bob the geomancer 19:35, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  7. Crazyswordsman: I seem to remember this one done in recent memory. And Seymour sucks big giant hairy donkey balls.
  8. MK: Sarcasm: Who doesn't love a villain that talks like he's chocking on a breadstick and has a potbelly? Kimono ftw.
  9. Does there need to be a reason? 8bit BlackMage 21:57, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  10. Crimsonshadow619: Are you kidding me?! Seymour was the worst damn villain ever. And look at the facts. They each have 4 forms. The major differences, Seymour is always a damn puzzle fight as opposed to a straight on brawl whereas Vayne goes through all forms in one series of fights and he just gets tougher each time. Also, I'll take the steroid abuse freak over the shiny happy people freak any day.
  11. Otherarrow: Vayne is much better than Seymour. Even I know that.
  12. Alcaeus: Hmm...there is only one villian who is worse than Seymour, and that's Shuyin, who is a combination of Tidus and Seymour.
  13. Hexed
  14. JARIITX: Let's see....both villains slew their fathers in cold blood and both villains imposed their will on their respective worlds....When the smoke clears, Vayne gets my vote simply because he makes up a better series of boss fights than Seymour. I.E. The Undying > Seymour Omnis
  15. VitoRyu: Vayne.
  16. Hydronisa: Hmm, toughie... Seymour was fun to despise, but I think I have to hand it to a man that absorbed enough Methacite to conjour Flying Swords... not to mention his epic transformation into the most notable Final Fantasy character ever... BAHAMUT!!
  17. tomtheroadkill: Never liked Seymour (only liked Anima). Vayne has to have my vote. Very slick villain, plus the fact that he is transformed into something very similar to Bahamut at the end gives him the best edge.
  18. Darkling692: This is so easy, I go with the guy that only have to die once in the game, and has a brain.
  19. Dark raven: Sooo much better.
  20. Elcan: Forget the fact that Vayne could kick Seymour's ass in looks, style, voice, fighting, you name it; but Seymour simply wasn't important enough to the plot, while Vayne practicaly became a god! Not much to think about.
  21. Ctaylor503: I don't know Seymore, and none of the comments on either side of this battle have been particularly persuasive, so I'm voting for Vayne.
  22. Xmd5a: The only thing standing between Seymour and meh-Ville is his mum. Vayne has quite a bit more going for him, and his final incarnations are tons cooler than Seymour's.
  23. Chaos40: I'm going to vote for Vayne purely because his master plan was a wee bit more feasible than Seymour's. Plus his lines were a bit more memorable and better acted. The only thing Seymour has going for him is the Seymour Omnis battle music which was awesomely good.
  24. Silent Meiousei: Mmm...I love his brother. Also...I dislike Seymour very much.
  25. dudutsai: Seymore was so annoying as a character and as an enemy. I hated him tons. Vayne on the other hand is one of my favorite villains.
  26. Masamune: Hate Seymour's voice, first of all. But Vayne is kinda like the perfect villain, so that's really the main reason I'm voting this way.
  27. Aleria: Vayne has better hair. And I like XII better than X
  28. Mjka: Ugh. Could someone please make sure Seymour goes to the Farplane and STAYS THERE? Where he belongs? Stupid never dying blue haired freak.
  29. craigrules14: seymour is a douche and so this dude gets my vote
  30. Alexander Namingway: Vayne was cunning and charasmatic. Also, he ended up being a kick ass final boss. Seymour was just creepy in more ways than one. He may have had Anima, but this is competition between Vayne and Seymour, not Vayne and Anima.
  31. SCM: Grrr... Suckiness.

Anonymous votes

  1. At least Vayne was a likeable character, the only thing likeable about Seymour was Anima.
  2. EmuMaster: Haven't played 12 so Vayne gets the benefit of the doubt.
  3. Vayne is AWESOME. Seymour sucks Muffin's balls.
  4. Ruthless-he would kill his own brother for power. C-moar is just a freak (and not in a good way)
  5. Vayne is awesome, and so much better than Seymour. I shall forever hate Seymour. And Seymour isn't that important to me. Vayne is. Go XII!
  6. vayne was far superior to Seymour, no obsession with a odd monster, and he did not make a pass at one of the main cast- exdeath64
  7. UndyingvsSephiroth: i don't know seymour well, but Vayne is a whole lot better and the guy's final form is awesome looking and so is his attacks. I vote for Vayne
  8. RMX: I'm voting Vayne. He can pretend to be a good guy. Seymour is obvious: Just listen to his voice, dammit! (He sounds like .hack//G.U.'s Endrance)
  9. I don't know who the heck Seymour is, so Vayne it is.
  10. Vayne is better because he was able to get what he wants through political manipulation like Palpatine in SW, or Ceasar. All Seymour ever wanted was to feed his plant so Audrey would love him... wait a minute.

Votes for Seymour

  1. Rydiaofmist: I'm going with Seymour, since Vayne never really made that much of an impression on me. Seymour, however, is the guy that most people love to hate. He's arrogant, condescending, and snide. He's the type of character that gets under your skin, and hence does his job as a villain. Vayne, on the other hand, was forgettable.
  2. Oath to Order 18:52, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  3. Dr. Crisp 19:28, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  4. Henryacores: Why to vote on a sockpuppet? Again!!!??
  5. Pablo618
  6. Woot for seymour! Superaeon35 21:46, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
  7. Acropolis: Let's just think for a moment on how little screen time Vayne had. His character barely developed for christ's sake. Seymour however has blue hair, isn't that evil enough for you? And now I think on it: Anima.
  8. Sora_Rainstorm: My vote is for Seymour. Why? Because I haven't played FFXII yet, so I haven't the slightest clue what the character of this Vayne guy is. Besides, Seymour has a pretty cool hairstyle. Good enough to be evil. Anyone who wants to be the next Sin and kill all of Spira has my vote. That's right, kill Tidus and all the past annoying FF characters and send them to the Farplane! You have a super strong aeon; Anima, use it for God's sakes! You go evil Maester Seymour!
  9. Blykus 08:39, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
  10. Xadren: He's completely insane and mad, but I like him as a villain more than Jecht (who's not a villain so why he's the bad guy?!). Anyway Seymour himself kills his father and wants power.
  11. Jammi568: Better last theme music.
  12. Khakishro Hey Seymour ISN'T as bad as all these other people claim! Now just because people hate Tidus doesnt mean they should bring down everyone from FFX with him! Seymour was powerful mage and his summon rocked. Now I also like Vayne..but he really didn't know the main characters.
  13. Bartz235: Vayne was an ok villian, seeing as how he kind of had good intentions. Seymour was just one of thost villians that you love to hate. He was a powerful mage, summoner and was a psycho. He is a lot better than Vayne.
  14. Lockhart: Final Fantasy XII was nearly perfect. The only thing I didn't like was the main villian, Vayne. Seymour may not be my favorite villian, but he's works for me more than Vayne does.
  15. Bluesilver I'm not saying that i like Seymour because i hate him; but Vayne just plain sucks. i say Cid was the main villan in XII not Vayne. what did he do? Seymour almost caused a Genocide and wanted to cause many others by becoming a relentless killing machine.
  16. Jordanlee24 Aaahhh... This is a good one. They are both crazy, mad megalomaniacs but it's definetely got to be Seymour because for one, he came back three times after being killed the first time and his lust for power made him completely evil. You just had to look at him and you would think of evil. Vayne, however doesn't come under that category and his good intentions let him down.
  17. CeKainI don't know much about either so I pick Seymour.

  1. Vayne is cool, but Seymour is one of the only villians that seemed 100% evil to me. The guy killed his own FATHER to become more powerful, thats pure evil in my eyes.
  2. I hated them both, but i'll go with the one who can summon Anima, cuz Anima doesn't suck.
  3. Vayne isn't really all to evil, and neither was Seymour, but Seymour had that twisted creepy logic that I loved so much "Pretend I didn't say it." I mean come on!
  4. While both are completely evil, the twist that Seymour was really an unsent added such a crazy twist to the plot of the story that he has to get my vote.
  5. OK Seymour Hands down, true his face is scary but, he actually knew who he was fighting.
  6. Seymour is the obvious choice here, as he was a power-hungry, half-breed, Anima-summoning, world-destroying (well, almost) BEAST AT LIFE who you actually get to control (albeit onl for one battle, but still). Plus, he has FOUR FORMS. Three of which involve an annoying sub-boss (which serves to make the fight more challenging) and one of which involves frickin' ANIMA. Do I see this with Vayne? I THINK NOT.
  7. I feel like I could get inside Seymour's head more than Vayne. Plus, Anima was wicked. Turning your mother into the hideous, yet highly effective creature to be tortured for eternity?... Priceless
  8. Definitely Seymour. Although Vayne was highly sophisticated and just awesome, he was never really the PERSISTENT type of villain Seymour was. You actually learn as to why Seymour was so insane, since you find out his tragic past. Vayne never confronted the characters until the ending, so he really didn't cause as much strife to the characters, let alone really KNOW them. Besides Anima was AWESOME.
  9. Vayne is just a bitch.
  10. Seymour. First, and I think possibly most important, is that he can summon Anima which(if the game allowed for others to be fighting while Aeons are on the field) would mean that he can own you in two ways at the same time. Two, he is persistent and psychotic, a good mix considering how tough he is. Third, already he's dead and still fights you, I think that wins hands down.

Henryacores: Why did you repeat this fight?

This must be a rematch of Fight 32, eh TA? [^_^]/ 18:59, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
That fight was a landslide victory for Vayne. Why repeat it? Who in their right minds would vote for Seymour? --BlueHighwind 19:20, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
If you're gonna repeat one, at least make sure it was done at least 50 fights ago.

--Crazyswordsman 19:53, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Hm... interesting. I will have to review. --TacticAngel 20:06, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

You Seymour supporters need to justify your reasoning. --Crazyswordsman 19:54, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Why didn't we just have Balthier vs. Gogo on this? It would have the same outcome. -- ChiefKakashi 22:26, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

Hey guys, I have a suggestion for the next fight... >_> --Mymindislost 22:41, 10 April 2008 (UTC)

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! This is easily the worst fight I have seen on the DNC! Was it even suggested on the Discussion page!? --User:AlcaeusTheWizard

Yes, and thats because your democracy sucks. --TacticAngel 23:11, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
So does this fight matter or not? --BlueHighwind 00:22, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
It matters every bit as much as the rest of this. --TacticAngel 01:48, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

Blykus: This was a tough decision to make. Both are great villains, in my opinion.

Week 63: Yuffie Kisaragi v. Rikku

Winner!!
Rikku

50 ½ v. 27

Well, it's that time again! This week, two bubbly ditz type characters face off in a catfight! In the nausea corner, the "ninja" that doesn't act like a ninja should, the Wutai Whambulance hereslf, Yuffie Kisaragi! And in the fluffy corner, making her long anticipated debut here at the DNC (probably the last character to be here), the Al Bhed Burninator, Rikku!

Votes for Yuffie

  1. Netherith She's a good character, a competitive opponant in Kingdom Hearts, good comedy relief in the games.
  2. BlueHighwind: They both suck. And I mean really suck. However you don't have to hear Yuffie's voice, so that's something there. Plus I wasn't willing to take the six-week correspondence course required to learn all the BILLION of possible combinations for Mix. Not worth the trouble.
  3. CloudStrifexoxo: I liked Yuffie. Rikku was ok but... I liked Yuffie more.
  4. MeggiedONFF3: Rikku was annoying. Beyond annoying. She could stand on the pinnacle of annoying, looking out upon her vast kingdom of annoyance and giggle. Plus its been such a long time since I've played FF VII that I can't quite remember Yuffie. So maybe she wasn't that bad.
  5. Cheesewow- I HATE Rikku. I can still recall her voice, doing stuff to my brain that I thought you needed a hot blade to do. No matter how annoying Yuffie is (which I don't know, haven't played ff7), she does not make you want to rip your ears off and shove a cork into the bloody hole.
  6. dudutsai What BlueHighwind said. Also Yuffie wasn't in FFX-2
  7. Adam Mcduck: Because they are both so rubbish in terms of personality (although I didn't mind Yuffie's; it just wasn't that of a ninja) I am basing them on usefulness. Yuffie wins that because 'Doom of the Living' was better than 'Mix'.
  8. Khakishro Although I like to challenge the Final Fantasy VII characters popularity, I have to go with Yuffie.I used her way more then I used Rikku, as I used her as a replacement for Aeris in ways. In FFX, once Tidus, Yuna or Auron learned Steal, that was the end for Rikku lol. But I have nothing against Rikku.
  9. Xadren I love FF7 and although I liked very much FFX, these two games cannot be compared. Also...c'mon! Selphie, Eiko, Rikku and Penelo cannot exist without Yuffie: she is their prototype (with Relm, of course :))!
  10. Etch what dudutsai said. hated X-2 with a passion, i dont even consider it a final fantasy i hated it so much
  11. I can Cream sephrioth with yuffie Bob the geomancer 17:17, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
  12. AnonyMan: They're both lame. Rikku was and looked alot cooler when she wore the diving suit and didn't talk much, after that, less said the better...then there's X-2. Yeah, Yuffie's not much better as a character and personality go, but at least she's an optional character in FFVII. And her sidequest was fun and the Turks were there, that's always a plus. I like Al Bheds too, they're pretty cool JUST not Rikku. She'd be cool if she wasn't....uh, Rikku.
  13. Blykus: Rikku wasn't a bad character by any means, but I've come to like Yuffie over the past couple of years. She was entertaining in Dirge of Cerberus and I was endlessly amused by the nine year old version of her in Crisis Core.
  14. Chocolancer: I don't usually come here at the DNC cuz all the fights are one-sided, but ahh well...I can't decide on both but I'll go with Yuffie instead...her appearance in Advent Children rocks!
  15. himbo: Shit, this was hard...but I guess I'm going with Yuffie and staying true to my FFVII fandom. =]
  16. skoot85: I like Yuffie simply because of the scrapyishness, and sneakiness of the character. Regarding Rikku though I have to agree with AnonyMan on this one though. "She'd be cool if she wasn't....uh, Rikku." She was a part of the travesty that was Final Fantasy X-2 and made that game even more painful every time she came on screen. There is simply no way I can vote for her.
  17. Kami strife: Sorry, Rikku, you're great, but I have to vote for Yuffs on this one. Yuffie has All Creation, which was a great final limit break, as well as an awesome weapon (the Conformer was MUCH better than Rikku's claw-thingies). And, over the course of Advent Children and Dirge of Cerberus, Yuffie's character has evolved. My vote is with Yuffie, without a doubt.
  18. Silent Meiousei: Yuffie is losing...*sob*...I like them both...But Yuffie...You are awesome!!!
  19. Hiddensilver: She appeared during my first forest battle during my last playthrough, so Yuffie's on my good side right now. That, and I still have to get a PS2 to play FFX. ._.;
  20. SCM: The lesser of two evils.
  21. Corrino: We can't let it be a landslide + Yuffie is alot more intersting with all the wutai stuff than Rikku.
  22. User:Clvabl: Yuffie that is all yo
  23. Falbub: I like Yuffie's weapons and costumes better. Plus, she's a NINJA. A rather ditzy ninja, true, but that's still a ninja.
  24. blackheart1991 yuffie is so much better then Rikku, she actually has personality and doesn't laugh whenever someone talks!(that and rikku is some $%^#ed up hybrid class)

  1. ??????: She is the champion of the earth and the sky. She is the conqueror of evil, the single white rose of Wutai. Yuffie Kisargi! Although she might be considered a ditz, it takes the right character to run a country well. She isn't just a materia theif, she's a Princess. She isn't one to just let her birthplace become a place just for tourists. No, she's going to make it a wonderful country in and of itself with it's own traditions and customs, the grat place it once was. She's intelligent, kind, polite and caring. Sometimes, she speaks without thinking due to personality, inexperience, youth or a combination of the three in some way. That's fine. It's normal for someone as big hearted as she. She loves children, showing concern when the children in Wutai disapear, presumably from Geostigma, and calling Cloud about it. She stands up for what she believes in and that makes her an excellent character. She is willing to go through air sickness to help Cloud defeat Bahamut in Advent Children and to escape with Vincent in Dirge of Cerberus. Also, to show her intelligence, she looks like she has no trouble with technology except when she bumps her head on it. On the other side, she's a ninja. She was trained since she was young and she's very good at what she does. Being able to steal something from someone with reflexes like Cloud's should be commended. She weilds a large Shuriken which shows she has strength and able to throw it and hit the tagret with relative ease which shows excellent accuracy. All in all, Yuffie is my choice out of the two of them. She goes the extra mile with a smile. One has to look beyond the superficial appearence and mannerisms of a cheerful child to see her true persona.
  2. Rikku is great, but Yuffie has my vote. Go Yuffie!
  3. Jimbo Cactaur votes for Yuffie, better personality, better combat ability, nuff said.
  4. I've only played FF12 and the Kingdom Hearts series, so I barely know anything about these characters. I do know that Yuffie's a ninja, and I fought her in Kingdom Hearts, so GO YUFFIE!
  5. Rikku is annoying and has poor english(Good Al Bhed though). Also yuffie was a much better character and had a better story.
  6. Yuffie rocks. We're fans of ffVII. but we have nothing against Rikku

Votes for Rikku

  1. Bwana hakunamatata: Rikku was exiled and even hated, but she is Rikku, cheerful, Careful, and open-minded. That's my Rikku of Al Bhed!!! Come on, blow up yuffie with your machina!!!!
  2. Rydiaofmist: I like both of these characters but Rikku has the edge for me. She's a very loyal friend, and her mix command was loads of fun!
  3. Crazyswordsman: I'm going with the character that used to be cool instead of the one that wasn't cool to begin with. Rikku saves lives in the Monster Arena with her Mixing, and she's not that annoying (Yuffie is far worse....), at least until you take FFX-2 into consideration where she becomes one of the worst characters of all time. But I will not think of that game as canon so I can think Rikku is cool, at least for this fight. And besides, I gotta show my love for things that make you go AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!! I also love the color orange. Or should I say, BORANGE? Because that's what Fobbies are.
  4. Kill Yuffie. Please. Oath to Order 05:27, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
  5. HydronisaI actually didn't think Yuffie was that bad of a character at first, I thought she was just there for some added comic relief. Then I got to the side-quest at Wutai, when she actually fulfilled what she stated upon entering the party. My hatred for a character could not have been more palpable. Rikku wins this because of that, and the fact that she brought the 'Mix' back into the games.
  6. OmgItsFrenchie Rikku by far, she's helped me heaps with the Mix ability and stealing early on in the game. I adore Yuffie, but Rikku is just too damn awesome.
  7. Mateus_the_Corrupt: Rikku, unlike Yuffie, has the ability to mix items instead of throwing fuuma shuriken. It's better for Alchemists (or Chemists) to win this battle so the Ninjas could go to their graves.
  8. Gaming-King:I'am going wiht rikku because of mix and Yuffie just bugs me.
  9. Hexed
  10. Marcus Leonhart: Although Yuffie is a particular character I like in FF7, what can she do without materia? Jump and brand her shuriken like crazy? Hey, wait. What shuriken? Rikku, give back that shuriken!
  11. Henryacores: Rikku is FFX's second best character. She is the best character in battle, and the one whose solo is the easiest. Her overdrive is excellent and I love her as a character. Her cheerful and fun personality is awsome. Have I arleady told you how hot she is? Rikku is just awesome. Yuffie is a disgrace for ninjas.
  12. VitoRyu: Rikku.
  13. TSD: Unlimited Mega-Potions FTW.
  14. AuronKaizer: I don't see what everyone's problem is with Yoofey, but either way, she gets badly owned by Rikku. You're gonna have to look very hard to find someone a FFX character loses against in my opinion.
  15. FFX Rikku wins my vote. Now, if this were specifically between FFX-2 Rikku and Yuffie, I'd have to go with Yuffie. But overall, I find Rikku, annoying as she may be, to be FAR less annoying than Yuffie. I'm sure lots of people would disagree, but I don't really care. Also, I would say that Rikku's character and backstory are a lot less cliche and boring than Yuffie's. I mean, how many "Ninja avenging my clan"s do we need? Nah, a blond girl salvaging airships is a lot cooler to me. --RB
  16. Big mamou: Rikku. Because she is the lesser of two evils. The "What to Say to Get Yuffie to Join" guess-and-check mini "game" was obnoxious. Doing it without any sort of a guide back when the game was first released sent my PS1 controller flying at the wall.
  17. ChiefKakashi: Don't mind Rikku, can't stand Yuffie.
  18. Chaos40: Personally my vote's got to go for the character who isn't trying to rob me blind at every point in the game. Not very endearing of you Yuffie. Besides I vote against Yuffie out of spite when I realise I've been pronouncing her name wrong for ten years.
  19. CeKain: For no reason at all, Rikku.
  20. MK: At least she doesn't steal my shit and at least she isn't a ninja. God, Ninjas suck, just like FFVII and guess whose in there...
  21. tomtheroadkill: I have to go on usefulness here. Rikku is an annoying character and her personality has got to be shot. But Yuffie has the second most useless Limit Break and is a weak character anyway. Agreed, her character developed for Dirge of Cerberus, but wasn't playable. Rikku has the Mix and has more use. So, it has to be Rikku for me.
  22. RedMage To any one who thinks Rikku isn't cool, watch this: [1]
  23. Mjka Ninjas are overrated. Yuffie is weird and annoying. Just because your shuriken is bigger does not mean it'll be any better. Rikku is the cutest Al Bhed ever. When a girl tells you to cram your happy festival, you gotta love her pluck. I mean, if my Home was blown up, I would never have been as composed as she was. She was also mature at times in FFX-2. What was so bad about that game, anyway?
  24. Pablo618: I have no prob with rikku, I like her =)
  25. PD: The color scheme is annoying as both of them at times...
  26. Moogle Kupo I'll hit that.
  27. Azul: Finally! My fight is up! I pick Rikku. Rikku got me out of alot of tight spots in FFX and FFX-2! Besides Yuffie is annoying with or without a voice.
  28. gokus789: Well I like Yuffie more as a character but Rikku was more useful in battle. Besides Rikku was sexy in X-2. Sure X-2 sucked and I never played it but her outfit made up for it.
  29. Alcaeus: I actually like Rikku. Sure her voice is annoying, but it was still better than Tidus'. Plus she didn't steal all your Materia forcing you to go on an annoying side-quest. Yuffie is the second worst FF character of all time, after Laguna. Also on a completely different topic, FFX-2 isn't a bad game. It has a fun battle system and the most important thing to a game is it's fun-factor.
  30. Fonzyboi:in battle rikku is more useful, she does decent damage and she can also provide good support w/ her mixed potions; in the story rikku is also more interesting, she speaks two languages and she comes from a technophile race(Al Bhed)
  31. Bluesilver: I love Rikku! she more interesting that some treasure hunter from a town with cool music and she is much more useful. plus in 10-2 she like monkeys!
  32. Dark raven: She's prettier, more useful and less annoying.
  33. BigSlurp: Yeaaaaaaa!!!!!! Finally one of my favorite characters of all time is up to battle. Her overly spunky annoyingness just makes you fall in love with her. She's a trip-out to listen to. And she actually can kick some major butt. I never liked Yuffie as I thought she was useless. Rikku is the much better choice. Woohoo!
  34. Lankapoo: Dude, that's not even a fight. Rikku just kicks ass!
  35. RenzokukenXIV Personally i hate yuffie, yeah they are both hyperactive, but Yuffie the "ninja" is just plain stupid. So yeah, my vote is completely for Rikku
  36. Lockhart: Even though I'm a Final Fantasy VII junkie, I just can't vote for Yuffie over Rikku. Similar in many ways, I just think that Rikku has a little more depth than Yuffie. I tend to use them both in battle, I might even use Yuffie a little more. Oh well, Rikku it is.
  37. SacredMist: I like her personality better than Yuffie's and I also felt that her character design was better than Yuffie's. Though they both have their immature sides, I felt that Yuffie was much more annoying. Rikku's just an overall sweet girl that has a good head on her shoulders. Her little smoke bomb during a certain dangerous situation wasn't a bad idea at all. Shows that the girl can take care of herself just fine.
  38. Drake1: You know, I liked Rikku before X-2. So I choose her.
  39. Jordanlee24: Rikku is much funnier than what Yuffie is and she's Al Bhed which makes it better. Rikku is protective over Yuna and helps her to be an all-round happy character.
  40. Zephyrus11: Rikku has more character development, more interesting moves (the whole chemist aspect is awesome), better appearance design, better voice acting (than Yuffie in either AC or KH). Rikku gets copycat which is an amazing move, Al Bhed is an awesome race/language, and shes from X, which is great. Even her X-2 incarnation isn't too bad, although her X one is better.
  41. ShadowLaguna: When I first got Yuffie in my party, I thought "I've got a crap ally". And of course I was right. I've never been a fan of Yuffie and I most likely never will. As for Rikku, I don't like her much in battle either. But her personality is a lot better and when you first get her, you don't get bad first impressions.
  42. TacticAngel: I've never been a real big fan of Yuffie. Something about stealing all my materia...

Anonymous votes

  1. rikku cares about other people and yuffie cares about herself.
  2. rikku all the way! (until X-2)!!!!!
  3. these are 2 of my favourite characters in the FF universe. But by far i would choose rikku over yuffie. Rikku's funny and her mix ability takes of loads of damage, plus the fact that she can also steal. Aside from her attacks, she also looks really cool too and she's just a great character all round. Also, when yuffie is on your team, if you go to wutai, she steals all of your materia :( anyways, rikku gets my vote, 100%.
  4. How is this a question? Rikku, all the way.
  5. Gotta love Rikku's Mix ability...and the thing on her arm is way less stupid than the tumor on Yuffie's character design. Nomura, what were you ON?
  6. ?????- I don't get what's so great about mix (maybe it's just me) but unlike a bunch of you people, I like Rikku. Just as a character. I mean, Yuffie ain't bad but, Rikku Rocks!
  7. Sora_rainstorm - Rikku is the winner. When you first recruit Yuffie as a party member, she tries to steal your stuff. And that is why I'm voting for Rikku. Besides, she was just a little bit more useful. Yuffie sucked, and I hardly ever used her.
  8. God, I hate Yuffie to death. She stole my materia man....my materia...
  9. Rikku, Rikku, Rikku.
  10. Rikku is definitely better than yuffie. 'nough said.
  11. Hellhound - Rikku is way better. Her overdrive is useful, she's fun, not near as annoying as Yuffie, and is way hotter. Love you Rikku!!!
  12. Yumiko: oh this is hard. i am a huge fan of vii but i think i vote for rikku. i like yuffie's character but i must say mix had gotten me out of many tricky situations. also x-2 wasnt that bad. it may have been a little umm... girly, useless, whatever but the overall story wasn't that bad and the 100% ending was nice. AC, DoC, and CC was also cool. AC advanced the story line a bit. DC explored the life of Vincent and CC explained the past and stuff. why must people hate these titles.=(
  13. EmuMaster: Ugh. I don't really like either, but at least Rikku's attractive.
  14. Yuffie is hyper and annoying. Rikku is hyper and adorable. Plus, mixing rocks.
  15. Despite the fact that in X-2 Rikku looked like a cheap whore most of the time, I found her more useful than Yuffie was.
  16. both suck, but X had decent graphics, try a new bit of charecter development next time!- Exdeath64
  17. Rikku because her mix list saves your ass a lot and theres only been one bad sequal of ffx and Yuffie stole my materia...

Okay! *Shaq-fu's Yuffie* --Crazyswordsman 05:31, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

CSM, aren't we getting a little overy-tilted thought to the characters in the explaination section? Yuffie's a ninja, that's official in Square(and Nomura) so that's no much you can do about it.--Nel 09:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Alchemists win, any day. Of course, that's what I'd say.TheSwordofDoubt 10:08, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Am I the only one who complains about the lack of a neutral point of view in the description? It's not like this is your fandom soapbox or whatever. --Auron Kaizer 11:35, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Fix it for you Kaizer, and I adjusted the color scheme a bit. My eyes couldn't take the old ones. It was like looking into a solar eclipse or your Grandma's clevage. --BlueHighwind
Sorry, BH, but when I do the fights, we use shiny colors. And don't change the description. --Crazyswordsman 15:59, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
What's wrong with the colours? At least they don't glare right out at you like the basic colours do. They're much softer. And half the time I don't even notice them. TheSwordofDoubt 15:14, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Oh, and Cara was the prototype, not Yuffie. --Crazyswordsman 16:07, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

That's true, unfortunately it she came at the expense of replacing her infinitely cooler grandfather and one of the only reasons I played FFV and the main reason I stopped and won't continue playing.AnonyMan 18:51, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
But Galuf has terrible Speed and Magic stats. Krile (or Cara?) has the highest Speed in the game and the second highest Magic stats in the game, making her much more useful in battle than Galuf. --Alcaeus

All right, who here hates this bright-as-the-fucking-sun color scheme? And who here can possibly defend it? --BlueHighwind

Would you rather look at dull, boring colors? I'm sick of dull colors. --Crazyswordsman 19:35, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
That may be. But dull colors are pleasing to the eye. We want people to actually read our votes. This color scheme is distracting. --BlueHighwind 19:37, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I don't find them pleasing at all. I find them boring and all like "Hi. I. Am. A. Brussel. Sprout." Is that how you want our Wiki? Full of drones? --Crazyswordsman 19:39, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
There's a reason why books are not printed on electric-pink paper. There's also a reason why the Monobook skin uses white instead of bright green. A very simple one. The eye, being lazy, likes nice dull tones like white. Notice how when you look at Yuffie's votes, it all seems to blur out. Its hard to concentrate upon the text (especially that massive essay that annon wrote). Your mind wonders. You can put hot colors around text, but the text itself should be kept in nice cool backgrounds. --BlueHighwind
Or maybe you just need glasses. --Crazyswordsman 20:03, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Bright Orange and green, the 2nd best and a general good color resepctively, what's to hate about it? I can understand those who think it's a bit on the eyes, but it's good to do something different especially when it's two of the better colors on the spectrum. AnonyMan 20:12, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I prefer to think that CSM is colorblind since the opposing viewpoint is he is insane or has bad taste. In any case, I'm tempted to give him a test template. --TacticAngel 20:15, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Nice try, TA. But I put up the fight. --Crazyswordsman 20:24, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
That means what to me? --TacticAngel 20:40, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
I'm willing to compromise. We can use the boring, dull, why-are-we-having-cheese-sauce-for-lunch-again colors so long as we get the conversation back to Yuffie and Rikku! --Crazyswordsman 22:41, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Agreed! ... now, am I supposed to be gauging this on who is the better ninjar or who I want to do more... --TacticAngel 23:51, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
Whatever you want. Preferably which one stinks the least..... --Crazyswordsman 00:01, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Now all it as it should be. Rikku sucks, Yuffie sucks. What's left to say? --BlueHighwind
I agree with CSM. After awhile, the formal, dull colors get boring. -- ChiefKakashi 19:46, 3 April 2008 (UTC)
This one is hard!!! I love them both...decisions, decisions -- himbo 19:54, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Rikku doesn't exactly suck BH. In FFX-2, mind, she DOES suck. HORRIBLY. More than even Selphie. But in FFX she ruled. --Crazyswordsman 01:25, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I disagree. Rikku was worthless in FFX. She was standing on excellent skill nodes (Steal, Mug), however as a fighter she could put the hookers in Jersey City to shame with how much she sucked. Weak attacks, no defense, unimpressive speed and evade. Too low for a proper Thief. Plus Mix was so complicated with so many possible variations that you needed a Master's Degree in Mixery just to use it properly. I just want to fight, not memorize tables. Plus you didn't need her anyway. Auron, Tidus, Yuna, and Lulu could easily take care of any trouble you would find. --BlueHighwind
My walkthrough tells you all the useful mixes. It's like with Gau's Rages, you don't have to know them all, just the useful ones. It's the ONLY way to get Marvel Shoes in FFX. --Crazyswordsman 02:00, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Rikku was one of the best characters in FFX, in my opinion, at least from a combat perspective. I left her with SOS-Haste always. Since you knew exactly what order people were going to attack in, you could often switch in a (battered and bruised) Rikku who would, given her natural speed plus all the other factors, often get to go two or even three times in a row and be able to be switched out quickly for other characters in order to avoid attacks. --TacticAngel 09:53, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Ugh, that one anon's vote essay for Yuffie nearly made me puke. -- Alcaeus

Yeah, you're telling me. And she mentions AC and DoC, two blights on the world of FF, just like FFX-2 was. --Crazyswordsman 07:39, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

I wonder if that person could do a full, 8-page disertation on the character of Yuffie? An interesting though, especially since they have generalised or guessed a good deal about her character (how anyone could tell anything about any of the characters in VII from AC is beyond me) Also, I am incredibly happy to see a good old polarising fight on the DNC once again. RedMage

You can tell a couple things about two of the characters in AC. Cloud was emo and had porcupine hair and Tifa had giant boobs. But physical traits don't count do they? -- ChiefKakashi 16:58, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Which is enough to know that they're prettyboys. --Crazyswordsman 18:11, 4 April 2008 (UTC)
Well, physical traits count for something, I was going to vote for Rikku based off of her X-2 art.(shallow, I know) I thought that this fight would be closer when I first saw it come up, but then again I am pretty ignorant when it comes to X and its fanbase.--Oranejo 18:43, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Damn. This went from a fairly even competition to a massacre. You had a good run there, Yuffie, but it seems like you're done. --Blykus 19:26, 4 April 2008 (UTC)

Poor Yuffie is losing. I'm going to cry. --Kami strife 20:59, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
And by a pretty large margin too. I wasn't aware at the extent to which people hate Yuffie or something. They hate her like she's Cait Sith or something(even though Cait's much cooler). AnonyMan 23:38, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
I hate this guy like he's Cait Sith. --BlueHighwind 23:36, 9 April 2008 (UTC)
Loll, What? Cait Sith isn't as bad as people think. Not nearly as bad as most of the VII main cast.AnonyMan 23:43, 9 April 2008 (UTC)

Die Yuffie! Die, DIE, DIE!!! --Alcaeus

Calm down Alcaeus, calm down. We all love killing, but now is not the time for yelling death threats. Besides, she hardly seems to need any encouragement. RedMage

If this fight continues, it will be like nuking a dead body. It should be changed soon. -- ChiefKakashi 16:00, 10 April 2008 (UTC)
