  10. Ulti-who? Seriously, given how much Kefka is included in the plot of VI compared to Ultimecia in VIII (I mean, you get to hate him right from the start! That's how I like my Villains to start out!), his obvious insanity and the fact that he actually succeeded in ruling the world for well over a year as opposed to Ultimecia compressing time for only a few hours just make it very hard for me to favor her above him, and thus it is Kefka who receives my vote. Sadly his Dissidia reincarnation isn't quite as impressive; it's like he's just a manikin of himself. Ultimecia's "alternate outfit" of Lady Edea made me laugh though. Yrl 23:45, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

  41. It's sad that Kefka's getting anti-fan hate almost to the level of Sephiroth these days, but he just deserves this, simple as that. I will say that Ultimecia is a worthy opponent and deserves more love than she gets, but honestly Zemus did her main schtick (I mean the "acting through loved one" bit) better. capefeather 14:15, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

That said, Kefka Palazzo has more personality than many villains, actually succeeded in becoming a god, and ruled for a year over his world. Additionally, his spells are much harder to avoid.

  11. As much as I like Kefka (and as much as I know this battle was decided the minute it was nominated), I like Ultimecia's unique idea for world domination better. If she succeeded, she wouldn't destroy the planet then just get bored, she would rule ALL of time FOREVER, plus the whole becoming a god thing was old before even the first Final Fantasy. 12. Although I love Kefka, I'm gonna have to throw my weight at Ultimecia. The first Final Fantasy game I played was FF X, and after that I backtracked. Eight was the first one I could get my hands on, and is easily my third favorite in the series (behind VII and X, but don't ask me which one rates higher, you won't like the answer). Final Fantasy VI is the is high up their in my book, and the reason for that is, of course, Kefka. But since Kefka is dominating, and I love VIII so much, my vote belongs here. 1. 88.151.27.235 16:25, April 2, 2011 (UTC) Ok, I like both of them but it's Ultimecia who really needs the votes! Plus, I'm a sucker for a tragic backstory, and the fact that Ultimecia was persecuted and condemned for crimes she hadn't actually committed yet (which probably prompted her to become full of hate and anger) makes me feel a little sorry for her, especially as this was so subtly dealt with in the game. Also, she's stylish, classy and, well, lets just say she looks better in that dress than Kefka would... ; ). Plus, I love her tattoos!

  3. 201.66.47.53 19:33, April 7, 2011 (UTC) Ultimecia, one of the best Villains EVER. Her cold, clever personality is awesome.
  4. She is the only villain I almost thought I did not defeat! With her time compression/manipulation Squall and the guys almost never defeated her. Even after defeating her, the party melts into time compression, and I was like *bang!* she wins--totally! Thankfully Squall's love for Rinoa manages to 'bond' the different time strands and time coalesces into a happy ending. Way to go Ultimecia for making the game the ONLY one where I thought all those hours were lost in one, evil, masterminded plan designed to crush (and compress) my innocence!! 78.110.65.132 00:54, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

The only character besides Vivi that seems to be on par with Sephiroth in popularity vs. A character most people hate for some reason from a game most people hate for some reason, the one sidedness is gonna be painful. Rakanadyo 04:31, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

It is so obvious that Kefka is going to win. LTFabrettiChocobo Dragoon 17:02, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

After all these years people are STILL accusing Ultimecia of showing up out of nowhere at the very end? Really? Seems a lot of people didn't pay ANY attention at all during the game or stopped playing after Disc one. Maybe she should have cooked more crack cocaine and kicked some more kittens to get people to stop hating on her. Next people are gonna start whining that Kuja's ridiculously buff body and rippling muscles are too grotesque and unrealistic.AnonyMan 01:01, April 5, 2011 (UTC)

They are. Everything in IX was made to be more unrealistic. But that's it's charm. I just say the whole cod-piece thing is a little disturbing. King of Noobs 13:23, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
@Anonyman did you complete VIII yourself? she did not appear untill the last 10 minutes of the game Judge Magister Pyarox 21:59, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
What'd you do, start right on the 4th disc? Okay, Ultimecia may have shown up IN PERSON at the end but she was running the show from the start. Her character was established but not shown well before you finally face her.AnonyMan 22:28, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
Seriously, Ultimecia was possessing Edea from the start. It was HER who attacked SeeD in the First and Second Discs... then she possessed Rinoa then transfered to Adel, attacking the party again using Adel's powers. Then finally in the fourth disc, the party faces her. The only way to truly defeat Ultimecia. Also, i've noticed some people saying that Kefka destroyed the world, Ultimecia didn't. Incorrect again, when the party goes to the future, Ultimecia rules it completely. There's a ton of bodies outside of her castle of former White SeeDs. She already controlled the future and she was trying to rule the past and the present as well. 10x more badass than Kefka in my opinion.FatesChosenHero 26:41, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
I give her plenty of credit - she is indeed a badass woman. However, she also seals her own fate by passing her power to Edea at the very end, thus starting the whole game and throwing herself into a temporal loop, during which she is born, lives, conquers, gets killed by Squall and party, passes her power to Edea, dies, and it starts all over again. Meanwhile, after her defeat, the heroes are all celebrating, having escaped that temporal loop. Besides that, her conquest loses something for the audience, since it is never actually witnessed. Kefka is in-your-face with his plot, giving you no peace and showing off his genocidal tendencies from the start - burning all of Figaro just to get one girl (which failed), poisoning all of Doma, using magic to kill multiple Espers just so he can have more power, blasting the world (right before your very eyes) with the power of the Warring Triad and bringing said world to its knees. Again, Ultimecia is a cold, cunning, cruel villainess in her own right, badass in her own way... but there is a reason people prefer Kefka Palazzo.24.168.218.196 01:18, April 10, 2011 (UTC)
I wouldn't say sealing your fate in an infinite time loop is SO bad. I mean, it worked out okay for Garland/Chaos for a time. Hell, it's the whole premise Dissidia revolves around. I'm surprised Ultimecia didn't have a more active role in Dissidia. Mynameissora 17:55, April 16, 2011 (UTC)
True! I would have liked to see all the characters given a real moment to shine - thanks to her portrayal in Dissidia, Terra's really not given the credit she deserves, either. In addition to being a badass half-Esper who is turned from a slave-weapon into a powerful woman that discovers herself and her very soul, she saves the party with what would have been the last of her strength if not for that human side of hers. And she kicks Kefka's ass. Terra rocks! XD 24.168.218.196 23:09, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Well no offense to Ultimecia in general, but I think the major point people are trying to get across here while voting for Kefka, is that it DOESN'T matter if your spiritual manifestation takes over some one's body in the past to get crap done. That's not good enough, they need to see you up close, face first, in the beginning, doing some thing terrible as yourself, not in the body of some other being. Doesn't matter you can time travel or want to rule time itself. I admit that's some what an original concept. Also, Ultimecia kicking kittens would make me hate her, not appreciate her in a liking sense that makes me want to vote and boost her popularity, sorry. The fact just remains that Ultimecia isn't able to shake her tatas in your face till the end and she's nothing more than a puppeteer that needs to use a 'special' girls powers for time compression. --Gunji 04:39, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
That description in your last sentence can make anyone sound unimpressive. Like Kefka is nothing more than a loon who needed to move statues to be strong. Also you make it sound like Ultimecia is the ONlY villain who needed some outside resources and help to help achieve their goals. Every FF antagonist had some kind of assistance to help them out. Besides if Ulti could actually travel herself Time Compression would have already happened. Ask the cast of Tales of Phantasia how annoy time jumping villains are.AnonyMan 22:04, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
Kefka also required the infusion of Esper energy and magicite to bolster his powers to obscene levels, but that's actually something in his favor - unlike Mateus (sorcerous Emperor), Cloud of Darkness (embodiment of Void), Zemus/Zeromus (hyper-telepathic Lunarian), Exdeath (embodiment of many evils), Sephiroth (alien-hybrid experiment gone wrong), Ultimecia (time sorceress), Yu Yevon (deity-tick), and many, many, many others, Kefka actually had to earn his power. He had to grow and be proactive in his theft of power - he didn't have it handed to him on a silver platter. Even though the game says the infusion gave him "great magical power," he still has to pull it under his control, just like Celes does. This is just one more point that sets him apart from so many other Final Fantasy villains - and thanks to needing to grow in power, he doesn't come off as a threat until it's far too late. His cunning is downplayed and the necessary experience in tactics and trickery just to get to where he is becomes all but forgotten. I say again, Ultimecia is intelligent and powerful, her plan to take over time itself is a superb idea, but she's also very distant and lacked personality until Dissidia.24.168.218.196 06:43, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
@Genji, "...Ultimecia isn't able to shake her tatas in your face till the end..." That says a lot about how you think. Also, I wish this were Facebook so I could like the above comment. :) Mynameissora 18:04, April 16, 2011 (UTC)
@Myanmeissora - Thanks! (I think you meant my comment. Presumptuous, maybe, but feel free to call me out on it. XD) Honestly, though, every character has his or her merits - I'm just an unabashed "Kefkultist." XD 24.168.218.196 23:09, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

@Mynameissora Yes. I am full of cynical comments. Also, @AnonyMan "Besides if Ulti could actually travel herself Time Compression would have already happened." Yeah that's kind of what I meant. --Gunji 09:48, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

I realy like Kefka from ff6 (evil and mad), but I don't like him from Dissidia (to much silly, not enough sinister). I kinda like Ultimecia from ff8 (who/where?), and I realy like her from dissidia (regal). Both are mages. Kefka dresses/fights silly/ugly, Ultimecia dresses/fights cool. Both wants to become gods, but kefka clearly has a better way about it. Hard to say who comes closest tho. Too hard for me to decide. The Rood Inverse 13:16, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Listen to Kefka's Japanese voice actor. It makes everything better. Master Conjurer 15:32, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
So very true, his Japanese voice actor couldn't be better. His English was good, but... meh. Hence, I got the Japanese version of Dissidia 012. Where voice acting is at the peak of brilliance in terms of games. 1stclasswarrior 22:54, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah giving credit where credit is due. Yeah Ultimecia is awesome. Takes control of people from thousands of years in the future. Sets a world in the almost civil war like atmosphere and compresses time to where you could visit your self while you where ten and then see you future and what your future could have been if events changed in less then a 10 mile walk. Thats some epic stuff. Yeah I saw her influence through out the entire game but you didn't really understand this was happening until your on the 3 third disc disk which blows. I like to at least to know who the true villain is at least by the second disc. all the other final fantasies have spoiled me so. Im not dogging on FFVII either I love that game , its my favorite of the series thus far. But Kefka That's is one clown you don't mess with he destroyed many cities before you even had a chance to really gain any true power in the game and all your think is holy crap how am i suppose to defeat this guy. They delayed this game being sent to america due to its difficulty. The japanese deemed this the hardest rpg to beat at the time. By the time you get powerful enough to beat he turn into a god. Which make you characters seem a little lacking. Also Ultimecia in FFVIII had a speech impediment... what kinda super villain has a speech impediment. I dislike that they changed this about in Dissidia --Gainsboroughsephiroth 16:30, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Dissidia in general didn't do a lot of characterss personalities justice to their original incarnations. Only a couple actually were better characterized in it like, Bartz and the nameless heroes.AnonyMan 23:21, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

  5. Freya is 2x the character and 3x the fighter... Fang doesn't even jump, probably because she doesn't want anyone to see up her dress and find out her 'secret'.Seraphic Star 06:16, March 9, 2011 (UTC)
  6. Much as I like Fang, I can not help but prefer Freya. Not because she was more useful in battle than Fang who is a total beast, but because she had the in my eyes more interesting backstory. Also, her "catchphrase" from the opening screen is something that has deeply impressed me, and always will. MirrorshardSceada 09:23, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

  16. Bluestarultor Best-of Stellar Arena sigicon BSA 23:38, March 10, 2011 (UTC) She may be from a lower-powered game, but she's a great character in that game with some nice skills and a personality completely unique to her in the series. Freya was the first woman in the series who was both strong and truly fragile, a soldier who lost her true love in the most painful way possible, by being forgotten.

  19. She has a deeper backstory and her own motives vs Fang who's pretty much a 2D char with some "scripted" events. Although Freya isn't that usefull in combat, she's at lest different than the other chars. FF13's char are all the same The Rood Inverse 14:14, March 11, 2011 (UTC)

  1. Fang is by far the most awesome female dragoon EVAR!!! She has the strongest attack potential in the game, her three sectioned staff and potential in the magician field via saboteur or even ravager says a lot about her versatility. Lets not forget she's also a pretty sweet sentinel. And she's just awesome! She's laid back but still has a sense of urgency to her. She occasionally flies off the handle but she settles down and does enough to support the party.(SPOILERS) Did I mention that she's the one that becomes Ragnarok, a beast destined to cause untold chaos, destruction, and ruin, but somehow ends up saving everyone in Cocoon? Because that did happen.

Freya is awesome in her own right, and her love story ending on a less than happy ending makes her a more compelling female character. But I've gotta go with Fang, beautiful, badass, staff wielding, dragoon, and a living doomsday weapon all rolled into one. Still don't think she's a lesbian though. I get how it can be misconstrued but, Square Enix is NOT that gutsy, its merely fan interpretation and it adds nothing to the story. At least from my perspective...
  2. Oerba Yun Fang is the best dragoon by far. Her story was awesome and I love how she cared for Vanille like she was her little sister. Fang is also a badass and has Bahamut for her eidolon. 15:33, March 9, 2011

I can't decide. Both are awesome in their own ways... On the one hand, I liked Freya's love story and her character development, although she was not exactly the best in battle and her appearance was a little disappointing (Burmecians are half rats, half humans... not cool). On the other hand, Fang was really cool both in personality and appearance, but with XIII I felt that every character had a poor development (except Sazh, or whatever it is spelled). Now, I know, Fang's role in the ending is awesome and all. I don't know, I think I would vote for her if there wasn't the fact that she's so hot (which will make her win, probably). Good fight though, much better that some other ones I've seen around here. Crimson Jealous 16:09, March 9, 2011 (UTC)

Now heres another question: If you had to rank this game, will be in your top 5 Final Fantasy's? I absolutely love this game, I think it was better than 8 (shocker) but not as good as 7...Mainly because of no towns. I say it's the third best. SquallRocks 03:11, March 14, 2011 (UTC)
Definitely top 5 for me, my top 5 would be, VII, X, VIII, XIII and II. Not in any order and i still replay them occasionally, especially XIII. TheWOL 13:00, March 14, 2011 (UTC)
Completely finished XIII and I have to honestly say, crushing disappointment at how it turned out after all the waiting. It's just not a great game. It's not as terrible as I regularly complain but the fact it took them so long to spit out a game without towns, barely any sidequests, no depth, and no replay value and a vaguely understandable lacklustre story is pretty grim. It just saddens me that they made it so beautiful but everything else was such a let down. The developers themselves are aware of how much of a mess they've made too, so I think their grovelling speaks for itself. Ranking it though, it still beats FFII which was shockingly bad. So that's a plus. Hamfruitcake 09 10:18, March 14, 2011 (UTC)
I applaud Squenix for not letting gameplay get in the way of a great story. Isn't that the problem people had with X-2? They create the opposite, and people are still not happy? Master Conjurer 15:43, March 14, 2011 (UTC)

I feel that Warrior of Light overall has the edge, mostly because he isn't hindered by lag time when his attacks miss, unlike Onion Knight, who while is indeed fast, when he misses, he's horribly exposed, and I'm better at melee than I am at magic/range. 39. TheWOL Obviously a legendary warrior blessed by the light is way better than a kid knight named after a smelly vegetable..
  40. Sendosune : He's the original hero of final fantasy, onion knight btw is a stupid name for a hero, Now Warrior of light, that's a proper name.

  1. Can't decide. Who's worse; The arrogant fanatic or the snotty do-gooder? The Rood Inverse 15:01, February 22, 2011 (UTC)
I'd go with snotty do-gooder any day over an arrogant fanatic. Usually better laughs. King of Noobs 04:22, February 23, 2011 (UTC)

I can't decide! Unlike my cynical comrades I like them too much to play favorites. If this were FF1 vs FF3 I'd choose 1 and be done with it. One fights a fallen knight and the other fights a nudist with a tentacle fetish. So that clenches it for 3. At this point, call it a draw and be done with it!

Xande was a nudist with a tentacle fetish? o.o oh! you mean that last minute drop-in villain... Judge Magister Pyarox 14:57, February 25, 2011 (UTC)

Ya know, if you give me about 5 minutes, I could do a Warrior of Light vs Onion Knight battle in Dissidia and post the results on Youtube. Seriously, easiest way to determine the winner here. --Nahara 03:00, February 28, 2011 (UTC)

It's not so surprising, the DNC will always have the largest userbase no matter how many user arenas there are run by whoever. The better run user arenas usually get around 20-30 voters in my experience, which isn't an inconsiderable amount when the DNC gets about 60 and is advertised on userpages via the DNC userbox and on the Wiki mainpage. Also, if TA will indulge me in letting me comment just this once, I'm having Eight-Bit Theater week in my arena! :) Fighter vs Basch, White Mage vs Aeris, come and vote! Drake Clawfang (talk)

Week 167: Ragnarok v. Celsius

Ragnarokairship
Dnc v
Celsius 1
WINNER!
Ragnarok
More to less
Two bright red things that fly by no clearly identifiable source of power, not even those tiny propellers that clearly could not create the lift to carry the bulk of the engine, let alone the ship to which it is attached. I'm going to guess this is a fight dealing with thing-to-thing weapons. WINNER!

You can use it to travel anywhere you want after having control of it and it helped against the fight Evrae aboard it.
