Votes for Melodies
- By far. MOL of sweet, soft and the sum of all the emotion at the end of the game. EOM is the sum of Squall/Rinoa's emotions, and doesn't take anything else into account. I like both, but MOL trumps EOM by far. Likeacupcake 07:07, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Both are very good songs, but Melodies Of Life is my favourite vocal song of all time and has a lot more of a purpose to the story then Eyes On Me, especially how it has a lot of different versions and the fact that Garnet and Eiko know this song from the History of Madain Sari. This song is also the song used for Zidane and Garnet, just as how Eyes on Me is used for Squall and Rinoa. But Melodies Of Life is more then just a love song, it is also a plot device and an overall better song then Eyes On Me. Also I like FFIX better then FFVIII so really there is no competition from the start. KaiserPaladin 07:35, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- This was very difficult for me, I love both songs. But I guess MoL is slightly better. The SirLaguna 08:03, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

- I can't really decide, but... This is from IX... So... Yeah... Kupohunter 11:07, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- This is the first time I had a hard time voting. Kudos to the ones that arranged this battle. I like both songs but my vote goes to "Melodies of Life". I like this version but I liked it more when Garnet was singing it [Lindblum Grand Castle Rooftop]. Don't get me wrong Eyes on me was just as great... - This was my favorite song for a while. LC 12:19, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Without Question. Had never heard the other one before. Tonberi
- I don't care one bit how the song was related to the game or its characters/story/blabla. I only care about what does the song sound like, and Melodies of Life had a better melody, which was also easier to remember. I like the lyrics more too. ZaFlareStar 16:46, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- That soft and smooth music, combined with the magnificent lyrics and beautiful pieces from the voice of Emiko, and remembering "Crossing those hills" was a masterpiece, and the name is even great. Without thinking I'll vote. A.X.A 13:54, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- It's a tough choice, but I prefer the melody to Melodies of Life. Hyacynth 13:59, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- I don't have a particular preference between the tracks themselves, so I'll go by characters. Garnet > Rinoa -- Sorceror Nobody 14:53, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Much better than that certain Squall/Rinoa icky romance. this is lovely no? Mog&Boko 15:41, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Awesometastic! RazielZero 17:46, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- Both songs are absolutely beautiful and emotional, but also suffer from bad English pronounciation. Tough choice, but Melodies of Life speaks to me more. SamSandy 19:55, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- God this was the toughest DNC I have ever had to do... Both songs I knew off by heart as a young impressionable preteen playing both games but this one is definitely more catchy. Plus... FFIX was perfect :) Hamfruitcake 09 20:08, September 20, 2010 (UTC)
- I can actually more or less sing this one, both in English and Japanese, so much I love it. How could I go and not vote for it? MirrorshardSceada 20:19, September 20, 2010 (UTC)

- Well aside from being a much better song, from a MUCH better game, the characters and romance it symbolizes are a lot more interesting, funny and clever. Melodies of Life I could listen to anytime but there is only so much of Eyes on Me that I can take at a time.--StragusLore 14:59, September 21, 2010 (UTC)

- This is the second song that i can think of that is a ballad with electric guitar in it. The first is a little song called Sanctuary by Utada Hikaru. And IX is better than VIII, though i do love Rinoa... Irish Reaper 00:30, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
- I like this the moste, but I like both songs. I like Suteki Da Ne better tho. The Rood Inverse 14:29, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
- I agree with The Rood Inverse! I like this song but Suteki da Ne from Final Fantasy X gives me a more romantic, sad and touching feeling altogether!--TerraBranford145322 11:01, September 28, 2010 (UTC)
- I really, really enjoy both, but it's "Melodies" for me. More beautiful, more enjoyable. And I don't see how people can say how this isn't plot-related, because it is. Agent0042 03:25, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

- Melodies of Life has better lyrics, really. Eyes on Me is a little more atmospheric...but MoL integrates both. MoL for me.#68.9.137.118 15:04, September 25, 2010 (UTC)
- This was a difficult choice for me, as both songs are great. They both have beautiful music and the lyrics to accompany them. In the end though, I decided on Melodies of Life for two reasons. First, and although I can relate to both songs, Melodies of Life's lyrics I can just relate to more and seem to fit me better, and secondly, and most importantly, after listening to both songs several times each to decide which one to choose, it was Melodies of Life that I ended up finding myself humming randomly a day later. 96.234.74.96 16:48, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
- Hard choice, love them both, but I'm gonna have to go with Melodies of Life, I just think it's better in both lyrics and melody.84.90.241.103 14:48, September 30, 2010 (UTC)

- 137.143.170.79 12:30, September 24, 2010 (UTC) FF8 was that good, and the music is awesome!
- 71.245.105.38 21:21, September 26, 2010 (UTC) Some FFVIII love, finally! The song was absolutely beautiful. Faye Wong wasn't especially great, but the song itself, plus Julia, Waltz for the Moon, and all the other reduxes put it over the top.
- 24.2.22.202 23:26, September 26, 2010 (UTC) I love both songs, but ultimately, Eyes on Me wins for myself.. it had a much stronger impact on me. (Though I will say Melodies of Life is much superior in piano form.)

I really hope this'll be a draw, I love both songs, and the one I voted against was composed about me so ;) The SirLaguna 23:30, September 24, 2010 (UTC)
Ok; a lot of people are saying that MOL has little relevance to the plot, but you'll find it has just as much as EOM. To put it very simply; it's a song Garnet remembers from the Summoner Tribe, thus solidifying her connection to them. She sings it all the time to reflect her loneliness, so it is a song of solitude through the game. That's why it is sung over the ending before Zidane appears and explains that he had to come back, so he sung the song, transforming it from a song of solitude to a song to companionship.
EOM comes from Laguna's and Julia failed love, and is a song of desire, specifically the desire to reunite with their loved ones, ah la the ending. It also is there to tie the two generations together.
See? Neither has more plot relevance then the other. And why am I saying this? Because it seems that everyone that is voting EOM is voting because of that. I'm not saying that you should all change your vote, but I just wanted to show you that MOL has as much depth as EOM. Likeacupcake 00:34, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
Isn't this a song fight, not IX vs VIII (EoM gets my vote, but still)? Stefan-sama 00:50, September 27, 2010 (UTC)
