Votes for Shiva

  1. As much as I love Ifrit, I'm going for Shiva. I couldn't decide, so I just went for Shiva because she's female. XD ...Yay! First vote! Hytey 15:30, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
  2. For teh sexeh. Doreiku Kuroofangu 16:05, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
  3. Because she was the first summon in any FF game I've ever acquired, and after summoning her for the first time, I was like WTF O.o MMLN メーマウリアン 16:32, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
  4. Because she reminds me of Celsius from Tales of Eternia, which is my current obsession right now. LC 17:16, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
  5. What Drake said. And because I have very fond memories of Shiva.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun118:53, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
  6. I've liked Shiva (and all the versions of her I've encountered) since I started with this series; I have yet to find an Ifrit incarnation I like at all. The.DreadnoughT 19:01, May 30, 2010 (UTC)
  7. I started really liking Shiva in my FFX playthrough (when I killed Anima twice with her). Also, she is cute... KujaRhapsodos 19:39, May 30, 2010 (UTC)

  18. Shiva is slightly stronger then Ifrit in most FF games, Diamond Dust is also a lot cooler then Hellfire. She is also one of the main 6 Eidolons in FFXIII, Ifrit isn't.KaiserPaladin 00:43, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
  19. Tough, I like them both a lot (especially their FFX versions like the images). I like fire better that ice, but Shiva was a bit "cooler" than Ifrit in X and was awesome in XIII. Yrl 00:50, May 31, 2010 (UTC)

  30. While they were pretty much equal throughout basically all of the series, Shiva was present and awesome in XIII, making her edge out in my book. -Nokareon
  31. Ice was a better element and Ifrit kinda scared me when I saw him for the first time in FFX..--TerraBranford145322 11:08, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
  32. Since Summons are, by far, strongest in FFX, that's what I'm judging on. Let's see, Ifrit was slow, Shiva was not. Shiva's special ability slowed her enemy even more, Ifrit's special ability was slower than a regular attack. Ifrit comes with Fire, Shiva comes with Blizzard and Blizzara. It was an easy choice. Intercision 14:58, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
  33. She is definitely one of the sexiest video game character/fictional character of all time... Oh and she also saved my butt, countless of times!! BboyMogFile:Z yoshimitsu1.gif 20:28, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

  21. Ifrit was the first summon I saw. He was there, in a picture of a game magazine, reviewing Final Fantasy VIII. He seemed so evil yet so good, I wondered what the heck it was. Found out years later it was a summon (I was reading the magazine at the age of 7 or 8). I've always liked Ifrit more than Shiva so... ZaFlareStar 18:16, June 1, 2010 (UTC)

  18. Zidane knows he's the lead character to the point where he need not even acknowledge it. Meanwhile, Balthier is so unsure of his role in the story he shoves his head up his (explitive) to figure it out. Or at least he comes across as an arrogant (explitive). Basch > Vaan > THEN Balthier. =) Adelbert
  19. This is like Sophie's choice, but in the end I gotta love Zidane more than Balthier just for "Try something drastic." Hyacynth 00:00, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
  20. I love both FFIX and FFXII, I love both Zidane and Balthier, but I think Zidane is slightly better, he made it to Dissidia, he is the main character of his game and his game can be played in the PS3 which makes the game much more enjoyable then playing it on any other console. 34. He is Cool, Clever, Nimble, and Powerful enough that he is created to destroy a world on his own, and while Balthier had great character, he is not capable of defeating the "enemy of the people of Gaia". 23. Balthier, any day. Zidane is like Balthier, except that he is inferior in every respect. Balthier is suave and sophisticated, Zidane is not. Zidane is a petty thief, Balthier is a sky pirate with his own airship. Balthier is a ladies' man, Zidane is annoying at best, and a perv at worst. Balthier has good voice acting and a good script, Zidane has neither. Balthier is interesting, Zidane is not. Balthier is from XII, a sky-pirate, what ever that is. I think people like Zidane because he's not a down-in-the-dumps, depressed and/or emo male lead. He was what he wants, when he wants, because he wants, nothing more, nothing less. Likeacupcake 00:25, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

Isn't anyone going to explain then? TARDISES 21:10, June 4, 2010 (UTC)
Click on the link for "Balthier" if you want all the details. That's what the Wiki's for. In short he's a ladies man like Zidane, but he's human, not a monkey boy/angel of death. Despite being raised in a wealthy family, he's a pirate...who owns his own airship. He's arrogant, but fun-loving, adventurous, and loyal, and he's got a hot Viera partner, Fran. I still voted for Zidane though. Yrl 21:16, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

So Zidane even murdered Balthier... I guess Zidane really is a God.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun101:49, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

I dont get why people call Balthier the "Lead Man". Vaan was the lead in XII. Balthier just overshadowed him. -.- --208.67.140.161 15:13, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

They're just playing up to his running gag(i.e. numerously labeling himself as the "Leading Man") or are calling him that because they deny Vaan's status as the Lead. Or both most likely.AnonyMan 18:59, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

@Xaphnir's vote: Two reasons. One is that Balthier isn't there to beat him to it, and the other is that even if he was there, he's got Fran, dammit! He'd have Garnet if he had a chance and was interested. He's been known to attract the attention of other princesses, after all... -- Sorceror Nobody 13:36, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

Fran? Is that a joke? Tonberi 'II' 14:06, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
Tonberi, that comment was directed at Xaphnir's sexually explicit comment about Zidane and Garnet, so the previous comment has to do with Fran being more attractive than Garnet, not the usefulness of either of their characters, although in Fran's defense, she never became completely useless like Garnet during the period of time when she couldn't even speak. Yrl 00:55, June 12, 2010 (UTC)
The question is, do you think it is? -- SN, 14:34, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
Something wrong with that? Fran was just a joke that had no place in XIITonberi 'II' 15:03, June 11, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, you're saying Fran herself is the joke? Interesting -- SN, 16:22, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

There's no need for Fran in the game at all that's why I say so.

Also, nobody has voted in these fights for almost a week nowTonberi 'II' 17:24, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

Yrl, WRONG! 1)Fran is useless as soon as you start the game. And that's all . GET to a NEW fight already. Tonberry DynamiTracerTonberi

Haha, well I suppose if you didn't use Fran in XII then you didn't need her. I agree that it'd be nice if a new fight was posted soon. Yrl 17:45, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

Ironically, the two most bashed characters (Vaan and Penelo) are in my main party with Balthier, while Fran is relegated to my other party with Ashe and Basch. Not that I don't raise both parties equally, but calling the first party my "main" one is literal -- Sorceror Nobody 17:52, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

My main was Vaan, Basch and Ashe. I never used Fran because she was too weak in battles. Tonberry DynamiTracerTonberi

THE Worst landslide. Ever. Worse than Vegnagun vs. SinTonberi II 15:09, June 4, 2010 (UTC)

Not quite. Right now it's (if I remember the scoring method right) 54 to 12 ½ and the fight's not even over. However, Sin versus Vegnagun was 67 ½ to 12 for Sin, not counting the anonymous votes that weren't signed. And not considering that the first vote for Vegnagun was probably in the wrong column... The.DreadnoughT 17:25, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

If I remember right, then sin vs. Vegnagun was 75 to 15, counting all of the anonymous vote, which would make this the second worst then (56 to 13.5).Tonberi II 13:39, June 7, 2010 (UTC)

Right, what's the non-moogle character? TARDISES 16:22, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

Her name is a link to her page where you can read all about her. However, if you want the information here for some reason, her name is Lulu, she is a black mage from Final Fantasy X, she seems cold but is very loyal and concerned about certain people, especially Yuna, the female protagonist of X who she considers a younger sister. Her parents died when she was five, her boyfriend died a few years prior to the events of X and these traumatic events may have led to her introversion. She is unusually open minded compared to Wakka who is a bit of a religious zealot at first. Oh, and the game's camera likes to focus on her cleavage. I used way too many commas. Aarim 15:04, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

I think Lulu should be the winner here, she's the only lovable black mage in the entire series, not to mention that moogles are so irritating. Plus Lulu had her own phrases when she casted magics for the first time. She never had useless dances, and was always useful in any combat situation. Plus she was one of the, if not the most amazing character in the entire series, enough said.

For three straight weeks actually. I said it to agree with what you said. It's Final Fantasy. Nothing has to be fair here. Tonberry DynamiTracerTonberi15:08, June 11, 2010 (UTC)

Moogles ARE irritating. I fail to see why nearly everyone seems to think they're so cute and/or badass. The only black mages that can come close to Lulu (in my opinion) are... actually, I don't think anyone comes close to Lulu. King Nothing Where's your crown? 12:59, June 14, 2010 (UTC)

Why is it so many of you have a misconstrued assumption that FFVIII is the worst game ever? First, one title: Final Fantasy X-2.... Second, Square stepped out a little from the traditional MP system for casting magic. They made it in a way that would allow you to fully customize every character the way you want to instead of being limited to the way Square programmed them. And the story is a good one with a couple little flaws. It's my first FF that I've ever played, so it has some sentimental value, but its not as bad as some say it is. So why, without flaming, are your reasons for hating/loving FFVIII? FatesChosenHero 09:52, May, 31 2010

A FEW flaws? The plot made no sense what so ever! Firstly; they're mercenaries, that get assigned to some randoms, who could only hire people because they were cheap and Cid gave them a discount... doesn't sound much like proper mercs to me. But you can say that's just opinion. Ok, explain to me what the hell was going on with the lunar cry? That was the most messed up plot point I've ever seen. Let's not forget the whole space station crap. The time compression stuff was ridicules (Love can save us! Just believe in each other! Ya... you can get away with that in a five year old's pop-up book, not in an FF game).
Need I go on? Likeacupcake 15:52, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
SeeD was assigned to the Forest Owls probably because Headmaster Cid felt that they needed the help, and was kind enough to assist them with their task for a reduced price because so. Cid wasn't heartless... he thinks of SeeD as his own children, and even said it himself that he wouldn't want them to be heartless killing machines. The Lunar Cry... has happened twice before what happened in FFVIII: it destroyed the Centra Civilization thousands of years ago. It happened again during Laguna's quest in Trabia. It's a good explanation as to why monsters are on the planet in the first place, and it has mostly been used by Sorceresses (Adel and Ultimecia) to create havoc and destruction as they wanted; thus, was more a means to take over the world quicker. The space station was Esthar's, a civilization more advanced than even we are. Since they have little connection to the world outside their holographic walls and since they obviously are very scientific people, they'd go into space to study that outside of the world. Also, the space station was created to keep an eye on Sorceress Adel, and to make sure that she was never released from her prison. Finally, the Time Compression was Ultimecia trying to fuse the past, present and future into one using magic. Given their relationship to each other, the main characters used that bond to ensure they wouldn't get lost when time merged together. They were basically a group of brothers and sisters given they were foster children together. I can think of several games where the bonds of friendship were stronger than magic or some evil force... and I am sure you can too. FFVIII's story really isn't as bad as everyone makes it seem. At least it isn't FFX-2 where the purpose of this Charlie's Angels/Tomb Raider wanna-be story is to fill peoples' needs to actually have Tidus and Yuna be together. FatesChosenHero 11:41, May, 31 2010
They were cheap because they were new/young, not because they weren't skilled. Yeah, the Lunar Cry is a bit ridiculous but seeing as you're an FF fan, I'm going to assume that you're okay with ascensions to godhood, J-E-N-O-V-A, Sin and Yu Yevon, the Iifa tree and manufactured angels of death, the Occuria, and summons in general. They're all ridiculous (ridiculously awesome). I think things like the space station, Lunar Cry, and time compression just seem like a bigger problem because the world of VIII seems more like the real world than a lot of other FF games (particularly IX). I'll admit the "Love conquers all" bit was somewhat cheesy, but whatever. Yrl 18:50, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
FFVIII didn't suck - my least favorite game in the series is Mystic Quest, whenever I play a mediocre game I tell myself "Well at least it was better than MQ". As for FF8's flaws - horribly broken battle system lets you coast through the game with virtually no difficulty, due to refinement abilities and card playing give early access to the best spells in the game. Characters that, with the exception of Squall, Seifer, Edea and to a lesser extent Quistis and Rinoa, are shallow character archetypes that are very forgettable and do little to expand themselves beyond a handful of personality traits. The story is contrived with many plotholes, and is entirely derailed from a fairly basic, understandable "save the world" plot to involve time paradoxes, mind control and time travel that only serve to confuse the story further.
Of course, FFVIII is definitely a "Your Mileage Masy Vary" game. If you like it, good for you, if you hate it, good for you. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. It was okay, it had flaws but it also had its pluses - an excellent ability system with GFs and Junctions, even if the battle system was broken it was theoretically sound. Many subquests to keep you involved, and while the plot was contrived it was quite ambitious and for that it should be recognized. Doreiku Kuroofangu 18:22, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
Woah, we got walls of text going here! Perhaps I should clarify; I liked the game, I thoroughly enjoyed it... but that plot had more holes in it them a dam made out of Swiss chess after three days in the sun. I know what the lunar cry is by the way, but how the hell did they manage to cross the distance between the moon and the earth, without dieing? I won't go into astral physics, but even if it was close enough to earth to do that (which would wipe out all life on the planet) they would all die long before they reached the half way point. I know all about the space station, and though I don't remember the details... I remember that it made no sense what so ever. (Why did they go out there again? Wasn't it to see if they could heal Rinoa or something?). In short, the game was a sequence of unexplained plot points and deus ex machina. Likeacupcake 23:37, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
The main reason for them going to the space station is because Ellone was there, and Squall wanted to know what happened to Rinoa that put her in her coma so that he could try and help. And Ellone was there because Laguna was, and Laguna was trying to keep Ellone away from Ultimecia as best he could. FatesChosenHero 20:41, May, 31 2010 (UTC)
I think we should all be able to agree that the worst game ever is probably not a Final Fantasy game. That having been said neither VIII or X-2 is my least favorite FF game, although both have their flaws. VIII's "Draw" system was a pain. Optimizing characters meant either repeatedly using Draw points or "fighting" easy enemies and just using the "Draw" command over and over again. And once done with that a lot of time still needs to be spent in the menu distributing spells to the different characters in different stats. X-2's major flaw is conceptual, they wanted to make a sequel to a game that lost two of its major playable characters (Tidus & Auron) and another lost her greatest power (Yuna's summons). Given what was left to work with I think they did a good job, although a storyline and gameplay involving Kimahri, Wakka & Lulu would have been better than the one chosen with the random new character, Paine. In defense of both games though, VIII's plot and villain(s) weren't poorly done, not great, but not bad, and X-2's gameplay mechanics were good. Also, Yuna wasn't arrogant enough to continue dressing as a summoner/high summoner. That would have been out of character for her, and she and Rikku are certainly motivated enough to learn new jobs/skills, like Gunner. Yrl 18:50, May 31, 2010 (UTC)
I reckon X-2 was a victim of X's success, and as was mentioned above, it was more a vehicle in which to get Tidus back with Yuna. Yes it could have been tackled in different ways but to be honest, Tidus' ressurection was probably the fatal flaw. For it to have continuity of X's plot, Yuna had to change radically, SE just didn't pull it off right. VIII's battle system may have been one sided, but at least give room to experiment. For instance, XIII hasn't had a huge backlash against it's battle system, but it's completely different from many other FF's. Besides, VIII's storytelling was sound if a little cheesy at times, but it was by no means a low point. The final boss music single-handedly won me over. The lowest point of the FF franchise is a certain laughing scene in Luca. Mog&Boko 14:47, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

I love FF8 <3, i think everything about it is awesome, Final Fantasy is 10X better then games like Zelda because it changes and its still awesome, Final Fantasy can't keep living off the legacy of a game like 7, and usually the people who hate 8 worship 7, 10, or 6, no need for fanboyism NeoExdeath 12:38, June 5, 2010 (UTC)

You said no need for fanboyism but your comment about FF being better than Zelda sounded kind of... fanboyish. Aarim 15:33, June 6, 2010 (UTC)

Final Fantasy better than Zelda? Thats quite a claim, and I love both series equally. I grew up with both series, but one is not better than the other. Not in my book anyway. ((Unless we're counting FFXIII, which was just horrible. We've yet to have a bad Zelda game.)  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun103:12, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
FFXIII, horrible??? I don't get it. Ultimately this is all a matter of opinion, but I honestly can't believe anyone who generally likes Final Fantasy would think that XIII is horrible. I can understand taking issue with the paradigm system, automatic healing after battle, or the high degree of linearity for the first 8-10 chapters, but I mean every main series game has at least tweaked the battle system, with varying levels of success and the linearity issue is hit or miss, but I thought it was nice for the beginning of the game to keep the focus on the plot/storyline. At least in my opinion, every FF game ranks as far superior to an "average video game," except maybe V, which is about average, but certainly not bad or horrible. As for Zelda, while I would agree that most of the Zelda games I've played are great, I didn't think Zelda II: Adventure of Link was good, and I haven't played a lot of games that are supposedly in its main series because they never got a ported to a major console, just portables, which is a really bad sign. I think we've had a bad Zelda game, but not a bad FF game. Yrl 06:57, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not going to get into this discussion any further. I merely stated my opinion, and people like you who can't see that I, just like every one else on this Wiki, have my own opinions.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun123:25, June 7, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry if I came across as being in attack mode, but I repeatedly stated that my previous post was my opinion, and that the entire issue is a matter of opinion. So I recognize and respect your opinion. People are going to dislike things, but saying an FF game is horrible or you hate it on an FF Wiki just comes across as a little petty/trollish, and I apologize if I insulted you or even Zelda in general, like I said most of those games I've played I thought were great. Yrl 05:53, June 8, 2010 (UTC)
I'm not going to talk about LoZ (not the remnant of Sephiroth), since Ocarina of Time is the only one I've played. But so far, the only Final Fantasy games I've had serious issues with are II and XII; II because of it's stat growth system being a total pain in the ass, and XII because it was just too damned big for its own good. However, I'm a major fan of V, VI, VII, and VIII, and my very first was X. I also find XIII to be epic, but I fear that we're getting off topic. Votes for Aeris

  1. OMG I'm the first voter! Difficult one, but it has to be Aeris. Yuna never made as much impact on me as Aeris – although to be fair, VII was my first FF, and Yuna doesn't die. Also, Aeris never whored herself out (damn near literally) in a sub-standard sequel -- Sorceror Nobody Flan 22:22, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
  2. SilverCrono 22:29, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
  3. I like them both, and this is hard for me. But Aeris died; Yuna didn't. Now, Aeris is more powerful then Yuna. So, using that logic, Aeris > Yuna. Simple as that. A.J. two (Smashboards)

  5. Sorry Yuna, but as much as I like you and your real game (not that shit sequel) I have to vote for Aerith because she's my ideal girl.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun122:54, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
  6. Despite a certain level of contempt to to VII Distaste. I like the upbeat spunky(Not like Yuffie or Rikku) girls. Yuna's too demure, bland and even after her personality is still not as interesting and she forgot how to dress properly to boot. AnonyMan 23:21, May 17, 2010 (UTC)
  7. My girlfriend LOVES Aeris and HATES YunaHolyHighwind
  8. I may've voted for Yuna, but they put that bloody Gunner picture of her, alluding to that nightmare of a sequel. My vote goes to the girl who got stabbed by a REALLY big sword. King of Noobs 00:37, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

  16. Aerith died, yet still lives, she was able to call upon both HOLY and the LIFESTREAM against a meteor that almost destroyed the planet, she was also able to heal GEOSTIGMA, i think Aerith is the ultimate White Mage, and a match such as this, i think she could outlast Yuna's summons and anything she can throw at her. User:OmnislashVII
  17. Mmh... though decision for me. They both have traits that are appealing to me, like Aerith being able to fight even after death, and Yuna having her Aeons, which are really great, so it's hard to decide, who to vote for. They even share the same theme of longing for someone beloved they lost! But since Yuna just kinda accepted Tidus disappearance and continued to live on, and Aerith actually wrote a total of 89 letters to Zack, believing he'd come back one day... 23. The Rood Inverse Though I like them both, storiwise and powerwise, I like Aerith the moste. The fact that she died and the fact of FFX-2 are the factors that sement my vote.
  24. Aerith by a mile. Yuna was too much of a "Mary-Sue" for me in FFX AND FFX-2. Not only that, but Aerith was stronger IMO. She was happy and upbeat but not too happy and perky. (For all those that didn't know who or what a Mary-Sue is, it's basically a character that is presented with no flaws at all and she's the talk of the whole game setting, or is at least very famous and that everyone likes her. They usually have two or more males fighting over her.) HayleeLOL 15:06, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

  31. Gotta vote for Aerith. I simply like Aeris better than Yuna. I'm listening to Aeris' Theme right now. Have I said Aerith enough for you to realize that I'm randomizing her name? Aerith Aeris Aeris. Silver Dragon XXVIII 19:41, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
  32. JFHavoc 19:54, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
  33. I'll simply compare their most impressive memorable moments. Most White Mages have saved a party a few times; Aeris saved a whole planet and did it (spoiler alert- and we all know which one, right?) while she was dead. Yuna's most impressive such moment was the Trigger Happy backflip in X-2, but despite this, Vincent is still the best Gunner in the series- Yuna fired two full mags for each Tiny Bee (one before and one during the backflip) and didn't hit Ormi OR Logos; had Vincent done that, Ormi's and Logos' heads would've resembled Swiss cheese. So, in case it's still unclear, Aeris wins that. (If it'd been spelled Aerith, however, I would likely have voted for Yuna.) The.DreadnoughT 20:39, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
  34. She is a better character. A more believable personality, instead of the perfect Yuna. And notice that having a great foe ahead of you does not equal throwing your life away. Too bad she was the one that was killed. Discordius 04:28, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
  35. Regoli 17:01, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
  36. User:Cloudgauntlet Aeris had so much more personality than Yuna. Yuna was just the typical softspoken, boring white mage type (I know she was a summoner), whereas Aeris was spunky, fiery and mischievous, and just seemed way more real. I agree that she was more believable over the oh-so-perfect Yuna, who everybody instantly loved. Plus later on Yuna's whole life revolved around one guy and she turned into a slutty lovelorn teenager when Aeris was a billion times more mature, and always knew that she would have to sacrifice herself even though she wanted to stay with Cloud and her other friends. Oh and Aeris/Cloud? Was implied, not made so obvious as Yuna and Tidus... not to mention, how could someone fall for someone as irritating as Tidus? Sure Yuna can summon but she ended up choosing NOT to sacrifice herself whereas Aeris was willing to if it meant that shecould help the world. Not to mention, VII is by FAAAAAR the superior game.

  44. I'd like to say this was an easy choice, but it wasn't. They're both excellent characters. Masamune
  45. Well, since Yuna can't fully restore the party's HP and MP, remove all negative status effects, and make them temporarily invincible -all in one move-, I'm gonna' have to go with Aerith on this one. Besides, she wasn't nearly as whiny as Yuna. GenjiMasamune

Anywho, AERIS(never "Aerith") and Yuna both have the potential in the games they came from to be super powerfull depending on the matiria/sphers they have. So this becomes a fight of who I liked better. - And since Aeris had a beautiful death a kick ass theam and she can hold her own in a fight V.s. Yuna who would die off insatly without her party/girl squad my vote goes to the magic girl of FFVII

  1. Aerith is definitely superior to Yuna. If she hadn't been killed during the game, she'd have become a serious problem for Sephiroth in his final battle with the party. 80.191.138.129 13:08, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
  2. 67.234.75.151 04:49, May 20, 2010 (UTC)I'm casting my vote for Aeris here because she only gained more power when she died and became one with the Lifestream, rallying it to assist Holy in countering Meteor and later curing those afflicted with Geostigma. (For that, I laugh in Sephiroth's pale, pointed face.)
  3. 82.37.224.251 17:04, May 21, 2010 (UTC)So yeah, Aerith is greatly more powerful then Yuna. She kicks butt. Sephiroth had to kill her as she could have ruined his plan. Defiantly Aerith.
  4. Aerith made a huge impact in such a short time during the game... and that screams louder than any controllable aeons and what not!! 5. Well, after finally having beaten VII, one thing was clear; X was a far superior game. And as Aerith died fairly quickly in the game, making her useless when she would be useful, my vote goes to Yuna. Besides, due to the summons, Yuna was actually USEFUL. I know, I know I've let you down
I've been a fool to myself
I thought that I could live for no one else
But now through all the hurt and pain
It's time for me to respect
The ones you love mean more than anything
So, with sadness in my heart
Feel the best thing that I could do
Is end it all and leave forever
What's done is done it feels so bad
What once was happy now is sad
    I'll never love again
    My world is ending
I wish that I could turn back time
'Cause now the guilt is all mine
    Can't live without
The trust from those you love
I know we can't forget the past
You can't forget love and pride
Because of that, it's killing me inside
    It all returns to nothing
It all comes tumbling down, tumbling down, tumbling down
    It all returns to nothing
I just keep letting me down, letting me down, letting me down
    It all returns to nothing

  24. Ok...well I THOUGHT we were voting on who would win in a fight...but it seems it turned into a popularity contest...there is NO WAY Aeris (or Aerith...w/e) would beat just about anyone...her stats are just far too weak. And what's with all this animosity towards X-2? In terms of the battle system and gameplay, I liked it much, much better than X, the re-addition of the ATB gauge was a welcome sight, and thanks to it the flow of the game was much quicker. I despised the sphere grid system, and while I didn't find the dressphere thing to be great, it was still better than X's system. Eyestothesky 21:25, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

  29. In my opinion, Yuna has Aerith beat. I mean, not only can she heal, but she can summon Valefor, Ifrit, Ixion, Shiva, Magus Sisters, Yojimbo, Bahamut, and Anima!!!! Several of those Aeons can kill you in one hit and you can't deny that most of the Aeons looked freakin awesome!!! Aerith has nothing on her because she was weak to begin with and died by the end of the game. Plus, X-2 made her look incredibly sexy no matter what dressphere you put her in(and is adorable in the Moogle costume).Golbez91

  41. Assuming it's Final Fantasy X Yuna and not X-2 Yuna, then definitely. In X, Yuna was invaluable for EVERYTHING. She did over 20k damage with Holy once she got her fully upgraded Nirvana. Heck, I made her solo Omega Weapon! And not the puny one, the PAL one with ten times as much hp. And last but not least, even if she was solely a Summoner, she'd obliterate every other Summoner out there. Even Rydia. I love you, PAL games. Intercision 15:52, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
  42. Yuna as she appeared in FFX and not FFX-2 was a very good female lead and presumably the real lead of the game considering Tidus was, well you know. 6. 70.143.84.230 Without a shadow of a doubt Yuna. The depth of Yuna's character is one of the primary reasons why Final Fantasy X is my favorite.
  7. FF7 holds a very promminnent spot in my heart since it was my first RPG, but I'm sorry, there really should be no contest who'd win here. Assuming they're fighting with the stats, rules, and limitations of their respective games, Yuna would wipe the floor with Aeris. True, both have great mage stats and can both (potentially) cast white and black magic. However, the ability to do 99,999 as opposed to 9,999 damage, vastly increase physical stats through extensive progression into the sphere grid, and the fact that her summons can actually be controlled as opposed to being just high-powered spells, give Yuna a serious edge here. 67.83.9.65 17:08, May 28, 2010 (UTC)

Seriously, Naruto195... I myself go overboard with the whole Aeris/th thing sometimes, but doing it here is just incredibly petty. If you want to nitpick over the retcon in a fight, might I suggest doing it here instead of the DNC? -- Sorceror Nobody Flan 22:39, May 17, 2010 (UTC)

It's not a retcon. Why do people say that? A retcon is a change in a plotline that reinterprets past information. Aeris is an improper translation. Fixing translation errors=/=retcons.Neo Bahamut 05:05, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
Although by the strict definition of a retcon you're correct, stop being so pedantic. Sheesh -- Sorceror Nobody Flan 07:56, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
I laugh every time I see people argue about Aeris' name. Silver Dragon XXVIII 19:43, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
I find it odd as well. There's really nothing to make a stink about. The "original" name was not the intention of the source material. Therefore, it can hardly be said to have been "changed." I don't view this as a technicality or being pedantic--these terms are just plain being used wrong. That being said, vote criticisms! Aerith supporters: You really shouldn't go on about Aerith saving the entire world from beyond the grave, then turn around & call Yuna a Mary Sue. It just makes no sense. Yuna supporters:[/] Aerith easily has the best magic stat in Final Fantasy. She CAN use black magic & summonings, so I don't see why you're not counting them for her. And easily her greatest combat advantage is her Limit Breaks, one of which can heal/revive the party fully AND make them invincible. You can also raise her attack, just like Yuna's. She is not a "weak fighter" by any stretch of the imagination.Neo Bahamut 21:47, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
I don't really want to inflame this debate, but I can't resist the urge to point out that Aeris's birth and naming are, in an odd sort of way, part of the storyline (think Gast's recordings at Icicle Inn). One could argue that her name itself therefore counts as a part of the storyline, sort of, and thus it qualifies to be called a retcon. In all seriousness, though, this comment is really just me mocking anyone who takes the whole thing too seriously (including myself sometimes) -- Sorceror Nobody 10:20, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
I'll respond anyway: Even taking all of that logic into account, Aerith's name was always meant to be Aerith. It wasn't changed within the confines of the story, it was changed due to outside circumstances, namely, a translation error. Ergo, it isn't a true retcon. And you're talking to a guy with a pretty liberal idea of what makes a retcon. On another note, I'm thinking of going with Aerith just because the Yuna votes are so stupid that I don't want to be associated with them. "Hey, look at all this shit Yuna can do! Black Magic, Summons...Aerith can't do any of that!" Oh wait....Neo Bahamut 00:06, May 21, 2010 (UTC)
Neo Bahamut, The point of the Yuna voters mentioning black magic and summons is that Yuna is more effective/versatile in those roles by the end of X than Aerith is when she dies (possibly excluding long time grinders). I understand the gameplay convention (characters get stronger as the game progresses), but if you're just comparing the 2 characters overall, Yuna is 17 at the end of X, while Aerith is 22. At 17, Yuna has fully controllable aeons, flare, doublecast, etc. Imagine how much more powerful she'll be at 22 (even counting the fact that she had to destroy her friends the aeons at the end of X). Definitely much stronger than Aerith as a mage by then. As for stupid votes, both sides have much dumber votes including I hate (Yuna/Aerith, VII/X/X-2) and (Yuna/Aerith) is hot (without any additional explanation or reasons). But the Aerith voters are worse. For example, Yuna is perfect is a reason for voting against Yuna, "Aerith can do more damage than Yuna (if they're the same level)," and "Yuna just accepted Tidus disappearance; Aerith didn't just accept Zack's." Characters don't level in X, they have the sphere grid to increase stats, learn abilities, etc. The only reasonable comparison is the end of the game, or when Yuna is 22, which we don't know about, but it's reasonable to assume that she wouldn't get weaker. Yuna should therefore be stronger either way. Disliking someone for being perfect/popular/likable is just as bad as disliking someone for not being popular. As for Yuna just accepting Tidus' disappearance, there's this game called Final Fantasy X-2, where she saves the world while on a quest to get him back (and may or may not actually succeed). Writing letters is really, really weak dedication compared to that. Even worse, someone voted for Aerith because that character had fewer votes (and that character now has more votes). I'm not trying to be confrontational, but you seem like a logical person, and I just think you might want to consider switching sides on this one. Yrl 17:26, May 26, 2010 (UTC)
Whoa. Who ordered the essay? Although Yrl has a point, I think this is a definite example of taking the whole thing too seriously :S -- Sorceror Nobody 12:56, May 27, 2010 (UTC)

Just curious, but why do loads of people overlook the fact that Aerith used Cloud as a replacement for Zack and Shuyin used Yuna as a replacement for Lenne? at least Yuna fought back against Shuyin and didn't start stealing other people's (namely Tifa's) love interests.Mog&Boko 19:56, May 18, 2010 (UTC)

I actually forgot about Aerith and Zack (Never played X-2 though). Don't judge me. AJtwosig 20:04, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
Loll. Yeah, she saw the Zack-ness in Cloud. You make it sound like she's so sinister. If Tifa really is his love interest that wouldn't have been a problem for him to square it out. AnonyMan 22:00, May 18, 2010 (UTC)
Well, because neither of those are true. Shuyin only mistaked Yuna for Lenne. After realizing they were different people, he went all, GTFO I'm gonna blow up Spira. As for Aerith, literally the only place in the entire Compilation where she ever says she saw Zack in Cloud, she turns around & notes she liked things about him that Zack didn't have. This was missed by many people who aggressively latched onto one of the details, claiming that it's been "proven" that Aerith did/not love Cloud, a trend that continues with every new commentary on the love triangle. Apparently, the phrase "up to your own interpretation" is some kind of completely alien concept that has no business in the minds of fans. Of course, since it's up for interpretation, you're technically not incorrect, but that doesn't really coincide with Aerith's personality, either.Neo Bahamut 00:37, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
...Mkay, that came across quite aggressive but hey, I never like Aerith, never had her in my party (even though she still managed to date Cloud.) Crisis Core suggested heavily that she loved Cloud because he reminded her of Zack. Checking the timelines, Cloud believed him and Zack to be roughly one person more or less. He only snapped out of this after Aerith died during the events in Mideel when he finally broke free of his mental trauma. Soooo, assuming him to be unstable for the duration of Aerith's life he had no control over this and to some extent, she took advantage, whether this was intentional or not is debatable, still she wasn't exactly all sugar and rainbows. And let's face it Yuna was a lot more 'good' in that she saved Spira twice, Aerith barely managed to prevent meteor, let alone top Sephiroth.Mog&Boko 15:24, May 19, 2010 (UTC)
You know, come to think of it, the Lifestream gathering where it did may just have been lucky coincidence; the Planet sensed it's "life" in danger, and was going to spawn Omega. Fortunately for the people living on that planet (and unfortunately for Omega) it happened to be spawning in the exact place where Meteor would've hit, and the Lifestream's gathering there prevented Meteor's impact, thus eliminating the threat to the Planet and stopping the process of Omega's spawning (which saved the Planet's inhabitants from a fatal relocation of the Lifestream.) Oh, so we should reject authority? Seriously, I did it mainly in an attempt to stop back-and-forth changes. Furthermore, despite my preference, if TA had put it up as Aerith, I would have argued against anyone changing it to Aeris. But what does it matter? Anyone who objects to my reasoning can either reject TA's decision, or bother TA with something so trivial as asking whether it should be changed. Unofficial notice - to me, unsigned votes and votes in the wrong sections are now called "idiot votes." There are notices IN HUGE CAPITAL LETTERS LIKE THIS reminding people to sign their votes, not to vote above or below certain lines of coding, etc, but some still do it. So really, if you can't be bothered to pay attention...yeah, I am going to make certain judgements about your intelligence. Maybe if we make the rules flash in and out, I do believe there is coding for that. Doreiku Kuroofangu 04:49, May 25, 2010 (UTC)

That might work, but I doubt anybody would look at it even if it was blinking. We should also note that signing is done with four tildes. Now many people know that. No, see, a simple mistake one time is excusable. Voting without signing or voting multiple times, four or five times, not taking the hint each time despite all the clearly displayed rules and notices, is stupidity. If you tried to pull open a push door five times in a week, if the word PUSH is painted on the doors in large red letters and you still tried to pull them open, then yes, you are officially on the lower end of the evolutionary scale.
