My guess is they both look cool with swords and they both are pseudo-military organizations. I imagine size is one side of the equation, while its pretty clear one side has a bit of a technological advantage. WINNER!

  10. Give the DNC over to Drake. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 03:09, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
  11. Hard choice. No Archadian can match up against SOLDIER 1st Class, but the Judge Magisters and lesser Judges can give the best of SOLDIER a run for their money. Then you have an army of roughly a million ready to handle the roughly hundred SOLDIER 2nd and 3rd Classes. Numbers do matter. Zack's fall proves that throwing enough numbers CAN work.--ClixPsi 04:14, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
  12. Et in Archadia ego.
  13.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun1 Even though the Kuja v Sephiroth fight was better, I hate FFVII and everything it stands for. Besides, I actually like the Judges. They were very played out and very developed. 04:27, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
  14. Soldier wasn't really even cool until Crisis Core. In VII they're nothing more than weakling random battles to run over. That against the single most powerful enemy force in the entire XII game. Also, come on, this is like the third fight in a row someone's deleted my vote. I'm starting to think it's not on accident. Nokareon
  15. Yeah, they're both imperialist organizations, but Archades is basically Rome with airships. SOLDIER is the goonsquad for a corporation that uses people's souls to power toasters. Rome > PG&E. Hyacynth 05:02, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

  3. SOLDIER means Sephiroth, and also (at various points) Genesis, Angeal, and Zack, not to mention hordes of SOLDIERs 3rd and 2nd class. Airships and Judges (even including Gabranth and the Bahamut) simply aren't going to stop that kind of force. Especially not if they call in artillery support. 1. In all the final fantasy's i have played the worst one was XII and i have played all of them except VIII, III and IX (I do not count XI as one) and the best one I played was VII SOLDIER is so much more epic than the Arcadian army the biggest reason I hate VII is that vann is gay and Zack is so epic and zack took down a whole army by himself so yeah SOLDIER wins no contest-- 02:02, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Votes for Lightning

  1. Lightning is everything a female protaganist should be: Iron-willed, determined, strong, and most importantly, not falling over every guy she sees. Also important: She doesn't care to know what love is. - +DeadlySlashSword+ 05:42, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  2. I want to like this girl so much, she intrigues me, she's just about the most iconic protaganist square have made (for all intents and purposes) and she is much more powerful and determined than any of her predecessors Hamfruitcake 09 11:30, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  3. I like very much her. Is determinated, has a strong personality, and is sooo beautyful. In conclusion, what better? ; ) .:Vaati:. 11:54, March 11, 2010 (GMT)
  4. IMO it's too soon to give Lightning into the fight, because very few people have finnished FFXIII and got deep into the story, so they can fully judge her character... But I am one of the few people who did not enjoyed FFVI a lot, and Lightning has something in her, what I do like about real life women, so she is definately getting my vote over Terra MMLN メーマウリアン 12:18, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  5. Never played VI so Lightning has to get my vote. JasarDaConqueror 12:46, March 11, 2010
  6. Honestly, I haven't played either game. But I have played Dissidia and I think that Terra is just a bit to soft, even if she is a mage. Therefore, the insane, non-caring character that seems cold gets my vote. Updraft Reiza
  7. What happens if you took kick-ass Squal and made him female? You'd get Lightning. Even their names are weather reference. And hey, isn't that another Gunblade-style weapon? If half the videos I've seen are true, she can kick-arse without going totally berserk and without no fancy genetics thing messin' with her. For once, I'm voting on someone I barely know. Noobking87

  13. Oh, are a weak female protagonist. You are every female gender role put into the lead character in an attempt to pass it off as "progressive" which, sadly, worked like a charm. There are multiple female characters in the series that make better leads than you. Aerith, Yuna, Agrias, even one in your own game: Celes. And that is by no means a comprehensive list. As much shit as Cloud, Squall, & other characters get for being "moody" or "emo," you are a thousand times worse. "What is love"? Seriously? You just strike me as a bad Mary Sue, & while you do get a bit better towards the end & I know next to nothing about Lightning, I doubt she can be any worse.Neo Bahamut 22:17, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
  14. I admit that I've not played FFVI in a few years, but for me Lightning is a much more interesting protagonist. Terra was a good character but she always seemed a rather weak lead to me - Lightning carries the story much better and I think she's actually a lot more likeable than Cloud, who she does bare obvious similarities to.--BADavid 22:44, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

  35. I do love Terra. A lot. But Lightning is amazing. I have't found anything about XIII that I haven't loved more than anything I've loved before from this series. Lightning knows what she wants, and not only does she know how to get it, but she knows how to get it done efficiently. She learns to open up more during the story, and she learns to accept her sisters relationship. My vote goes to this queen, who can be anything she wants to be. A summoner, a black mage, a white mage, or even simply support for her teammates. Dan-Iota 14:56, March 14, 2010 (UTC)
  36. I love both of them, hence I want a draw and since Lightning has less votes right now I voting her. Sorry, Terra. YamiNoBahamut 15:34, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

  43. Having played more of XIII now I'm gonna have to vote for Lightning. A decent portion of my reasoning is this: The closest job class to Lightning based on her stats and major roles is the Mystic Knight, and everyone knows that the Mystic Knight is the best class in the series. Silver Dragon XXVIII 19:42, March 15, 2010 (UTC)
  44. Lightning>Terra in every way, FFXIII>FFVI, stronger, better character development, better story, much better personality and terra is a weakling.KaiserPaladin 02:07, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

  47. of course my vote goes to lightning or claire farron (her real name) she has everything a protagonist character needs she is tough a real soldier very beautifull and her personality just rocks . she has an excellent gun blade she can cast magic fight bare handed she has also a kind heart where everyone can see it especialy after training Hope where she acts like his sister Zodiac 94
  48. She is not a female version of cloud, as clearly stated by the developers. She is also not a meanie or a b*tch, or whatever you haters want to call her. I'm sorry if you're voting for Terra because you weren't able to play ff13 and you wouldn't be able to get to know her. She cares for her sister, her comrades and their future. Terra is a great character too but Lightning gets my vote. Fonzyboi 23:18, March 16, 2010 (UTC)

  28. Oh dear, this fight was very, very hard. Since I haven't played XIII (And won't, until it costs below 200$, like I did with my PS and PS2), I had to judge my vote on the things I did knew about them. So the tiny bits of story I've read here for Lightning vs me finishing VI, their character themes, their looks and their abilities. Lightning's Theme is amazing, but it can't compare to Terra's Theme. Lightning is described as cold character, which doesn't sound promising. Still, Terra could get annoying in the World of Balance. Now, Terra was my best character in VI, and Lightning is apparently the strongest character in XIII. Finally, it's a tie between looks. Dissidia Terra (Alt. outfit, GREEN HAIR, SQUARE!) and Lightning both look spectacular. Intercision 18:14, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

  45. Terra is quite awesome. Its not like anyone made me vote for her. TurkBoy 17:48, March 16, 2010 (UTC)
  46. Terra gets my vote. I love mysterious, enigmatic, and multifaceted characters and I'm just not sure if Lightning is that kind of character. And meanwhile, I know Terra is. With Lightning almost all I see is a strong and independent female lead. And while that's a great thing, no real person can be completely strong and independent 100% of the time. This is why I love Terra so much. Terra is also a strong, persevering, and independent female lead, but at the same time a lot of her character is focused on tragedy, self-discovery, and the loss of one's self. It's because of this that I'm choosing Terra. -smashbrutha-

Okay TA, I changed it, you can come and change it yourself now! I hast perform the ritual to summon thee, now thee must appear! I left the last fight untallied because if experience has taught me anything other than the above, it’s that I can’t tally the fights properly. ^_^ Doreiku Kuroofangu 04:54, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Smooth, Drake. Very smooth. I suppose that's one way to get things done around here. The Cheez TALK 05:15, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Lightning looks like the illegitimate offspring of some hideous pink-haired creature and Order Sol from the Guilty Gear series, and she's a total bitch. Terra is quite simply awesome. She has green hair (which is infinitely cooler than pink hair) and is so much cuter! FFVI also happens to be my favorite game of the series. The Cheez TALK 05:42, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

I really can't tally the fights properly, I'm not sure how TA does it but we always get very different results, so obviously I'm not doing it right. Doreiku Kuroofangu 05:52, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
The thing is, he is right. TA has some strange someoneelsechangedtheDNC sense. FaythOfFenrir 06:06, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

This will be a very one-sided fight. Many people don't know anything about Lightning or haven't played ger game at all, while Terra has a decade and a half of fandom. I think it is poorly thought. Discordius 15:34, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with Dischordius. This is a blatantly insidious scheme to undermine Lightning by casting her in the shadow of another female heroine who is already well-known and loved. Employing these types of rash derogatory comparisons before Lightning has a chance to become acquainted with the Final Fantasy fanbase is unbecoming and should not be endorsed by a prominent facet of this wiki. </FFXIII Defense Mode> <3 Seriously, though this is premature. 8bit 16:41, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Turns out it isn't being one-sided after all. I know it's just because of my comment and Discordius 04:54, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

It's games like Final Fantasy XIII that make me wish Nintendo would do more than the Crystal Chronicles series... Now I'm gonna have to get a 360 or a PS3...Noobking87

Drake!, you monster! How many more times will Montblanc be screwed out of another chance? >_< Judge Balthier Griever Emblem 16:41, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Fuck Montblanc, Genesis vs. Kuja! But on a more serious note, I agree that this fight is premature. It should have been saved until more people played FFXIII. However, I am very interested in how this fight is going to go, not in the least because it gives me a chance to vent on this "first female lead" crap. 20:52, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Screw Genesis vs Kuja, Kuja vs Sephiroth! Or we could do Kefka vs Sephiroth and watch the wiki implode and explode simultaneously in the resulting fight. I'm not voting in this one since I have only played about an hour of XIII, although, I already do like Lightning. Silver Dragon XXVIII 21:05, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Silver Dragon, if we have Kefka versus Sephiroth, the world would cease to exist as its impossible to contain that level of awesome in one DNC match. But I would also like to see Kuja versus Sephiroth. A chance for me to show my hatred for Sephiroth. Oerba Yun Fang's Husband 21:32, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Kefka vs. Sephiroth was already done. I think Kuja vs. Sephiroth was too, but don't quote me on that. While I would be interested in another KvS, to see how peoples' opinions fluctuate, Genesis, being new to the DNC & very similar to Kuja, makes GvK more interesting by far. On an unrelated note, to whoever erased my vote: Shame on you.Neo Bahamut 22:17, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, Kefka vs. Sephiroth has been done. It was on a Bad Fight Week. Kuja vs Sephiroth has been queued longer than I've been a registered user. As for Kuja Vs Genesis, the suspense is killing me. I want to see that fight. Oerba Yun Fangs Husband22:26, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Gen vs Kuja would be incredibly lop-sided, I know of very few people who actually like Genesis, while Kuja's following is fair. Doreiku Kuroofangu 22:47, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
Yup, Kuja would win. And Kuja vs Sephiroth HASN'T been done yet (it's in the queued list of the nomination page). And THAT one wouldn't be lopsided, I think... TA, please? KujaRhapsodos 23:06, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
I showed some reasoning below as to why I think it won't be as lop-sided as everyone thinks. As far as Kuja vs. Sephiroth is concerned, I have my doubts that it wouldn't be lopsided in Sephiroth's favor, but either way, I just don't really like the fight. The 2 characters don't have a lot in common & they wouldn't act as foils for each other if they were in the same game, so I don't see too much reason to compare them.Neo Bahamut 23:09, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

So it's an unfair fight because FF13 just came out, and yet the fight was among the most supported on the nomination page last guys need to make up your minds. Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:00, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

I still think its a good fight. Very well supported. Lightning so far is one of my favorite FF girls, and so is Terra. To those complaining, stuff it and just vote. If you don't like the fight, keep it in the peanut gallery. TheBlueDragoon 21:05, March 11, 2010 (UTC)
I did not vote or even comment on that fight in the nomination page. I just feel that it won't be particularly informed yet. As for Genesis & Kuja, I've seen a fair bit of support in general for Genesis throughout the Wiki. In a poll I made comparing the 3 Jenova Project creations merely on the grounds of favoritism, Angeal has 8 votes, Genesis has 20, & Sephiroth has 34. I feel that's statistically significant. Kuja is one of the series' more popular villains, & so I feel that this comparison would be interesting to see.Neo Bahamut 23:05, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

A reminder to voters - no spoilers plz, the name thing is a minor one but nothing major in regards to FF13's plot. Doreiku Kuroofangu 21:29, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

Oops! Sorry. Still, I prefer Hope to Ms. Farron. He's a born spellcaster, and I admire that. Mog&Boko 21:32 March 11, 2010

Yes, I know a lot of people like Terra. I don't really "hate" her, either. As I said, she becomes more likeable in the World of Ruin, & even before that, she's pretty likeable when she's not doing her annoying "I'm so confused, someone sort things out for me" thing. But the fandom she gets for being--I feel--simply an "okay" character really salts my ass. Honestly, it extends to the entire cast. Fans are always saying they're the best characters in the series, so developed, whatever, but I don't see it. It's really a matter of taste, I guess.Neo Bahamut 22:40, March 11, 2010 (UTC)

You could always post it in my Talk Page, not that I'm desperate, or anything. Also, to "Lightning needs to stop whining"...LOL.Neo Bahamut 02:28, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

I feel as though this vote wasn't meant to be taken seriously, but I'll comment on it anyway: Lightning didn't make it into Dissidia basically because they didn't want to threaten her awesomeness. I'm not even kidding. "We didn't want to give players preconceived notions as to what her abilities would be." As for Terra, Dissidia made her abilities much more awesome than in the original. Kudos to it for that, among many other things, but I still think I'd have rather seen Celes.Neo Bahamut 02:36, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

I refuse to let this go on without becoming something shallow & immature! Translation: I'm wondering whom people prefer appearance-wise.Neo Bahamut 05:43, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

As I have not yet played FFXIII, I cannot vote properly in this one, so I abstain. I suggest everyone else in my boat do the same. 12:23, March 12, 2010 (UTC)

There's no rule stating you have to play both games to vote. If there were about half of our votes in any given fight wouldn't be allowed. Doreiku Kuroofangu 17:17, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
Guys, guys! This is serious business here! The real subject we need to be arguing about is; Who won: Levianthan or Phoenix!? Judge Balthier Griever Emblem 23:58, March 12, 2010 (UTC)
It was Phoenix, he won by a landslide. ShirubaKurono Dissicon ff13 Lig318:10, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

I'm surprised how well Lightning is doing against Terra, considering the game hasn't been out even a week as of now.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun101:35, March 13, 2010 (UTC)

Me too, I would have thought Terra's immense fanbase would destroy FF13's buyers. Hm. ShirubaKurono Dissicon ff13 Lig318:07, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
@SilverCrono, I didn't know a 5-point margin was considered a landslide. And no, the match is still undecided.Judge Balthier Griever Emblem 19:40, March 13, 2010 (UTC)
What? Phoenix had 87 votes, Leviathan had 75 (estimates). That's more than a 5 vote difference, dude. And I know that it's undecided, I never said it wasn't. I just said that Phoenix had the majority vote and as such won the fight. ShirubaKurono Dissicon ff13 Lig301:17, March 14, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, it looks like Leviathan lost. Back on topic though, as of right now, Terra and Lightning are tied in user votes.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun118:38, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

TA never tallied the Leviathan vs Phoenix fight, I pointedly didn't tally the last fight because I really did expect him to come around by now and do it himself. Ah well, at least people seem to be enjoying this one. Doreiku Kuroofangu 02:17, March 14, 2010 (UTC)

I wonder what happened to TA to be honest, Drake. He usually is just a day or so late. I particularly am enjoying this fight. So I'm not complaining, but has anyone heard from him recently? Or maybe he's just swamped with real life stuff. What do I know?  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun1
I agree, and I feel as though the questions concerning TA and the running of the DNC need to be addressed, but not here in the peanut gallery. Maybe someone with a bit more gumption than I could create a separate page on the community board to address these issues, because they are both numerous and frequently brought up. But again, I don't think the peanut gallery is the most appropriate place for it. And for the record, I do think TA does a fine job with the battles when they are posted (however infrequently that may be).CodeNameRedXIII 03:11, March 15, 2010 (UTC)
I agree with you. I think he does a great job with the DNC, but its too infrequent. Maybe someone else could do this. I don't think its my place to say. Now, back to editing the FFXIII enemy pages.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun1 06:10, March 15, 2010 (UTC)
Thirded about his work when he's present, my concern is the infrequency. If assigned to do so "officially" I'd be happy to run the DNC myself, or co-run with TA, but "officially" since I'm not actually authorized to change it, doing so technically counts as vandalism, or so I've heard from ILHI in the past. Doreiku Kuroofangu
I've been watching the Dragon Neck Colleseum for nearly a year now on and off and for a weekly poll there has never been a period of more than two or three weeks that have involved consecutive weekly fights taking place. The quality of DNC is all great but it just appears that there has been a bit of a timing issue for while now. And something should be done about it, or at least adressed formally. Hamfruitcake 09 15:25, March 15, 2010 (UTC)
I think everyone is bringing up some good points, but let me reiterate something: I don't think the peanut gallery is the appropriate forum for this discussion. Someone needs to create a topic on the community message board. I would, but I have no idea how, or for that matter where on the board that should be posted. I think that it would be significantly more productive there than here.CodeNameRedXIII 18:36, March 15, 2010 (UTC)
There, I did it. Now we can go discuss this there, capiche? Did I spell that right?ShirubaKurono Dissicon ff13 Lig319:26, March 15, 2010 (UTC)

The Rood Inverse Too soon!

This is turning out to be a better fight than I thought it would be. For a new character, Lightning commands a decent fanbase, it seems. Noobking87
I predicted a landslide in Terra's favor at first, but now its looking like a tie. And Lightning is currently winning in registered user votes.  TheBlueDragoon Dissicon ff10 Yun120:37, March 17, 2010 (UTC)
I also thought Terra would win at first, hence why I voted for Lightning (I'm a rebel ^^). But now it seems I was the lucky contender, as this battle is in Lightning's favor. Guess you can teach an old dog new tricks. ShirubaKurono Dissicon ff13 Lig321:41, March 17, 2010 (UTC)

You can find older fights in the Archives for the Dragon's Neck Colosseum. All of these fights are closed, so don't bother voting. All new votes will be removed. Each archive contains 10 weeks of different fights.
