DNC Logo Idear

Uwee hee hee hee! Welcome, editors, to the Dragon's Neck Colosseum! My name is Ultros the receptionist, and each week I'm taking bets as to who will win in a tussle between two characters from the Final Fantasy series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll, really. The Colosseum owner stuck me on this duty after Kefka was defeated, but I need the money! So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you can remain anonymous! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.

The Rules, Briefly

Functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that week. You may vote only once. If you are a user, please include your vote in the user section. If you are not a user, please include your vote in the anonymous section. It is important to do this because user and anonymous votes carry different weight. Votes put in the wrong section will be deleted. Users who do not log in when they vote will be considered anonymous IPs, and their votes also will be deleted. When a new fight is created, generally once per week, the previous fight's votes will be totaled and its winner decided. Ties may be called if the victor won by a margin of 10% or less.

Week 99: Paine v. Squall

Winner!!
undecided
Somehow this got overlooked, I believe, and its too bad, because this really writes itself. Just putting them next to each other, you have to admit the resemblance. The main difference is how much time you spend, in each respective game, engrossed in their emo-ness.

Votes for Paine

  1. FIST VOTE!!! YES FINALLY! anyways, paine rocks your socks. Ultima The High Seraph 14:05, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
  2. Paine's going to get beaten, but oh well. --JZ
  3. Draga: X-2 is one of my favourite FF's and I think that Paine has more personality than Squall. She's easier on the eyes too. ^_^
  4. Since I know that Squall will win and I like both characters, I vote for Paine. Even though she hates me... Then again Squall also hates me. They both hate me. They hate everything come to think of it. --WeaselToDaMax

Votes for Squall

  1. As the ultimate Squall fangirl here, I deserve the first spot. SilverSummoner
  2. Jeppo: The game itself may have been horrible, but at least the characters themselves were good, especially Squall.
  3. --Maverick King 15:10, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
  4. Terra_Homing: Are you joking? Paine doesn't even deserve to be aknowledged as a real character....
  5. Karura: I'm with Terra_Homing... Paine vs. Squall? What type of joke is this?
  6. I know who he is, and Squall is not as emo as everyone says, I find him tolerable. Drake Clawfang 16:16, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
  7. You gotta be kidding me... shall I say Lion Heart? And please, we all know the emo king of FF's is Cloud, guys.Winged Lion 17:57, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
  8. Squall by a landslide. SpiranKnight

  1. Of course I'm voting for my favorite introverted emo boy. I's just loves FFVIII
  2. FFVIII is one of my favorite Final Fantasies. And I never really liked X-2.
  3. I vote in the cool-headed guy, who was destined to kill the most powerful sorceress in history.
  4. I really hate both of these characters and I'm only going to vote for Squall because Final Fantasy VIII is much, much better than Final Fantasy X-2.
  5. I liked both characters and their games, but I liked Squall and VIII better than Paine and X-2.75.181.21.7 18:11, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

What happened to the idea for a Christmas fight? Drake Clawfang 16:16, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Looks like it's... declined? I actually thought it was a good idea... - SilverSummoner 16:23, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
A pity TA runs a dictatorship, then. Drake Clawfang 16:25, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
I think he doesn't even know about the idea... (too bad about that..) - SilverSummoner 16:34, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
After looking at this fight, somebody has to give me a good reason why I would want to vote this week ...or ever again. --BlueHighwind 16:38, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
Agreeing with BlueHighwind. ScatheMote
What a way to celebrate Christmas... an emo fight... *sigh* SpiranKnight
You all do know that the true christmas is on the 6th of january. And those are not emo's, just goths. there is a difference.Ultima The High Seraph 18:10, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Week 98: Gilgamesh v. Kefka

Winner!!
Gilgamesh
49½ to 34½
FF6 Kefkaart
The better part of a platoon combined to defeat Kefka, but Gilgamesh is the greatest swordsman--albeit a self-proclaimed title--ever to live. Will he wipe his blades of the depraved clown's blood or will Kefka have the last laugh?

Votes for Gilgamesh

  1. BlueHighwind: He's Gilgamesh. 'Nuff said.
  2. This was a toughy for me, I love them both, the man that has reappeared in almost every ff, or the man that brought hell on earth to ff....well, I flipped the coin, asked the girlfriend, and tried to decide...the diecide capable gil one it for me! Demagox
  3. I could never vote against Gilgamesh. - DeadlySlashSword 05:44, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  4. Fly Enkidu! --Zephyrus11 05:54, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  5. Hm...not as hard a decision as a thought. Kefka...after ignoring all his rabid fans is a very stale character/villain, even compared to a slightly recurring minor character(who's way too funny).AnonyMan 07:03, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  6. I a hyperventalate at the circus, because of clowns, do you really think I am going to vote for one. Ultima The High Seraph 10:14, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  7. I don't really like Kefka.... - SilverSummoner 10:47, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  8. Kefka is just weird so im gonna vote for Gilgamesh.Mewyuna 11:33, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  9. Chocobo Knight
  10. Jeppo: Gilgamesh is a leg end! It's sacrilege to vote against him!
  11. Gilgamesh can nail anyone. TurkBoy 14:43, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  12. Gilgamesh is an entertaining yet badass fellow, not to mention he lives and all.--Otherarrow 14:54, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  13. Draga: By the gods, this was a tough decision. Having to choose between my two favourite villians is like eating my own head. I had to go with Gil for teo reasons: His theme song and his place on my top 10 list of FF characters. Just one place higher than Kefka.
  14. I found Gilgamesh a lot funnier, and at least he tried to help you. BlueLionheart Cloudy Wolf (T/C) 17:05, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  15. He looks cooler, and kefka is just... well.. fucking annoying to put it plainly. User:A-Man968
  16. I like them both, but Gilgamesh has always been one of my favorite villains! He's just too funny. Rihya
  17. Arcanedude34: This one was tough enough for me that I had written about half a paragraph about why I was voting for Kefka before changing my mind. It's a complete draw between the characters, so I voted Gilgamesh for having a better group of heroes to be defeated by. (Bartz, Galuf, Balthier, Basch, Fran, the original Light Warriors...)
  18. This one was far too easy. Gilgamesh is my favourite character in any and all of the games in which he appears, even his brief tacked on appearance in the Dawn of Souls remake of FF 1. Kefka to me is a lot like Sephiroth in that he's a good villain but just pales in comparison to a pillar of the franchise. Gilgamesh is like moogles or the tonberry, an essential part of the Final Fantasy experience.--User:Margrace
  19. Gilgamesh is the best recurring character in the series. And besides, Battle on the Big Bridge is awesome. --SCM
  20. recino d--O_o--b Gilgamesh is wining?! Well Gilgamesh is the better character. So go Gilgamesh! Beat Kefka like a man! And a lady! And a man who dresses like a lady!
  21. BritBoy: It's no contest, Gilgamesh had the best theme song of all time!
  22. ITS MORPHIN' TIME Gilgamesh?
  23. Mr_Darkside :Gilgamesh was awesome in FFXII
  24. Duh...Who else? - Henryacores^ 22:30, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
  25. Gilgamesh. Nothing more to say. SpiranKnight
  26. I hate, HATE Kefka. Plus Gilgamesh is better I think. EmptySky 03:13, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
  27. Why not? Hexed
  28. Myeh heh heh... As much as I like Kefka, and as similar as I am to him, I prefer Gilgy myself. Partly because of his sheer aweXomeness, and partly because he has a crapload of swords, thus adding on to his aweXomeness, plus I like swords. Lord Xale 03:39, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
  29. EXCALIPUR!! it's a sucky move but it's damn funny when it's used againt ya :P AtmaCrisis 07:18, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
  30. It's Morphin' Time! Blackheart1991 12:15, 15 December 2008 (UTC)
  31. Yath They're both awsome, but I feel that Gilgy has the better lines. "I suppose I misjudged! Fighting all four of you... was just too much for me... NOT! HA! I lied! Like a rug! Oh, I KILL me!" "Now let's fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men!" And "You cannot hold a birthday candle to the burning blaze that is my winning spirit!" That, and you fight him multiple times, which adds a sort of 'rival' quality to him. Add the fact in FFXII he has the 'legendary' swords of the past Final Fantasy heroes... Along with Loto/Roto/Erdrick/King's Sword at the end.
  32. JZ
  33. CidTheFirst: Gilgamesh is possibly the only character with one consistent form that manages to travel between Final Fantasy games (disputably).
  34. Pretty easy for me, an INSANE gester with a nag for being over-the-top about everything or a kick-ass ronin with the best damn theme song of all, not to mention the many other reasons already stated above^^ - Xenoheart 18:47, 16 December 2008 (UTC)
  35. Mateus_the_Corrupt Kefka is just a retarded clown.
  36. Hollowkatt Kefka's just insane. Gilgamesh is cool AND insane
  37. Gilgamesh is the only FF character to survive being sucked into the void. Who knows how he managed it, maybe he was just lucky...
  38. Gilgimesh has been in more than two games so IN YOUR FACE KEFKA Poliwirl100 13:13, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
  39. Mr. Rojo: Gilgamesh is cool. "Now let's fight like men! And ladies! And ladies who dress like men!" Also, he was great in FF XII with the swords of the past heros.
  40. Kin of Chaos i have always liked swords more then magic, and i hate clowns so its an easy chose.
  41. Mangartist: These two are definitly among my favorite characters. I couldn't choose myself so I flipped a coin. Sorry Kefka, but Gilgamesh takes this one.
  42. ewitkows: Gilgamesh and his Genji Armor.. hands down
  43. he should be in dissidia Exdeath64 05:09, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

  4. Gilgamesh is such a good character! He is one of the best hunts in FFXII and is really funny! Gilgamesh FTW!
  5. Swords. So many swords.
  6. Kefka is the villain overrated ever (Sephi's not :) ). Gilgamesh rules, that's all.
  7. Not only does his battle theme is great, it is always fun fighting him.
  8. Kefka is an overrated peace of crap. He did nothing to deserve the power he got, and instead, just waited for Ghestal to lead him to it. Kefka was a mere side-kick who got LUCKY. Hell, he is the only FF main villain who didn't have a plan. Ghestal had to think everything for him.
  9. Gilgamesh was in more than one FF game... and guess what? He's STILL alive! Despite being beaten over and over again, he still lives. Talk about comic relief... XD
  10. FF8 Addict: I think Gilgamesh wins, I mean in ff8, he beat up Seifer after Odin managed to get cut in half.
  11. Gilgamesh just kicks all butt.

  4. RowdyCMoore Kefka succeeded in conquering the world. Gilgamesh stole his best line from the Power Rangers. Need I say more?
  5. Sora G. Strife: even I admit Sephiroth sucks compared to Kefka, he's a good swordsman, better than Gilgamesh, therefore, Kefka is better.
  6. ChaosEsperVII: No it goes like Spehiroth>Kefka>Gilgamesh
  7. Edit Conflict: Man, this is a hard one. I'm voting Kefka only because he's much a better villain than most other villains in the series. Gilgamesh is funny, but not really a good villain. Forgive me, Gilgamesh! ScatheMote

  26. Rydiaofmist: Even though it obviously won't happen, I'd love to see this battle end in a tie. Both of these characters are truly epic.
  27. Dazuro: They're both awesome characters, and Gilgamesh has better music, but... after using Kefka in Dissidia, holy shit. He's just so psychotic and lovable. Tra la la, skipping about happily while battling.. BOING! jump sounds... epic stuff.
  28. Shace: Ok how is he not winning? he is the only villian in all the final fantasy's to successfully destroy the world!

What happened to fights getting lots of support before they occurred? This is one of the less-good fights to see action. Drake Clawfang 04:51, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

Since when did fights have to be "not less-good" in order to be chosen? If that's a new qualification, I'll throw out 10 "less-good" fights right now. --BlueHighwind 04:58, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
I meant "less-good" as in little support. And I'd rather you not Blue, if you had your way every fight would be Tifa, Edea, Sephiroth, Vivi and Balthier. Drake Clawfang 05:00, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
No. If I had my way every fight would make sense. Like this week's fight is totally random. But Relm v. Eiko, that I can understand. I don't like it, but it makes sense. --BlueHighwind 05:02, 14 December 2008 (UTC)
Ah, on that we are agreed. Gilgamesh...Kefka...not seeing a connection because the big mouth and weird outfit. Drake Clawfang 05:04, 14 December 2008 (UTC)

He has and any fuss is a fuss. Urghh. DEATH TO THE PEANUT GALLERY!! But the Peanut Gallery is where to discuss the fight... but it never is except when PC is here, and then it ALWAYS deviates. Aw, and I was looking forward to Eiko vs Relm. I'm curious, who handles the fights now anyway? Template:BfDsig
It is supposed to be tactic angel, but BH and drake clawfang normally change the fights. Ultima The High Seraph 15:40, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

So what is the relation between the two?--BigCubby 17:17, 15 December 2008 (UTC)

Kefka fanboys are just pissed, because they know Gilgamesh can beat him here.

So it looks like two of the most popular characters here are one who looks like Orko and one who quotes lines from the Power Rangers. Do we have a lot of people nostalgic about 80s and 90s kids shows? I'm not saying that's a bad thing....RowdyCMoore

I had considered the possibility of Kefka losing, but not by this margin. I mean, come on. Drake Clawfang 04:19, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
I guess it'd be the same for Sephiroth. But that's my opinion. Fame kills the fame Alarielle
Its fame kills the famous. Ultima The High Seraph 14:16, 17 December 2008 (UTC)
And then people come to hate it or ignoring it... It happens...EmptySky 01:53, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
Kefka should have won. I voted for the character I liked more. I cannot fathom how many others did not. Whatever, I'm sick of the DNC anyway. Drake, you can continue to try to usurp TacticAngel without me. --BlueHighwind 01:55, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
It is losing its charm, yes. My personal pet peeve is users who register only to vote in the fights and chat in the forums. I shall not name names, since I don't have any, but they know who they are. Drake Clawfang 01:58, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
I take offense to that! I joined less than a month ago and believe me I plan on helping as much as I can with my limited information. However I think I choose a bad time to join. With the holidays and school I haven't had much of a chance to do anything on here. But give me something to do and I'll try my very best to help as much as I can.EmptySky 02:33, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
I was not picking on you, and apologize to you. But I know for a fact that some users here have not edittd, and have no plans to edit, the mainspace save for now and then, and devote all their time to the DNC. That bothers me. Drake Clawfang 03:46, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
I'm not going to deny the fact that there are those users who spend all their time here in the DNC or on the forums. Personally I am somewhat ashamed of those people. If they are here then they should help out and not just discuss about who is better than the other. This is a wiki for pete's sake...EmptySky 00:00, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

I would edit more if I had internet and didn't have to do it at school. I corrected some spelling errors and I try to do stuff whenever I can but with like only an hour a day it is very hard to do stuff. But these are all just excuses. --BigCubby 15:23, 18 December 2008 (UTC)

I understand where you coming from. I can't spell at all so correcting this like grammar are impossible for me. If anything I'm might upload lots of pictures and edit some info. I can get on this site at School but only for 20 minutes. I'm luck enough to have time at home to check up on everything. It just gets hard balancing this with school work and other things I have to get done. I probably have just as many excuses as you.EmptySky 00:00, 19 December 2008 (UTC)

The FFVI fanboys should play other FFs, before saying that Kefka is the only FF villain to ever destroy a world.

Really? I don't remember anyone else, would you like to say who?
Kuja destroyed the world of Terra ^^
I didn't know, I have yet to play FFIX. Well then, Kefka was the first, not the only one.
Kuja was pretty impressive when he did it... bloody awesome FMV!

Week 97: Alexander v. Diabolos

Alexander FFXI
Winner!!
Alexander
53 to 27

Alexander FFXI
Two of the more rare summons, these are the archetypes of light and darkness, as personified in summoned creatures.

Votes for Alexander

  1. I do it because I can. --BlueHighwind 06:09, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
  2. Gotta got with big Alex. He's always cool and awesome looking. The pinnacle of that being in IX(of course). He'd stomp on Diablos, literally. --AnonyMan 06:20, 7 December 2008 (UTC)
  3. Alexander, hands down. --Tex Howdy! 06:21, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

  5. Going with the big fella Rocking Chair
  6. Alexander, bigger the better right? --User:Margrace
  7. Not a huge fan of either, but Diabolos is pretty generic in terms of his design. - RadLink5
  8. Diablos is very useful against bosses in VIII, but anyway, I'm on the light side. Alarielle
  9. Tzui20: Holy light defeat the darkness, called Diabolos!
  10. Jeppo: Wouldn't say Alexander was rare, but still...
  11. Dancing Daggers: Alexander, holy, whatever. Like Alarielle I'm on the side of light. And in FFIX he did take part in the most amazing cutscene.
  12. Pryste 13:03, 7 December 2008 (UTC): Anyone else reminiscing on that final scene in the anthology version of Final Fantasy VI? Diablos is cool but come on, Alexander shoots a bloody heavy artillery barrage. Besides, I find it ironic that the holy summon is a machine.
  13. Alexander has some of the coolest summon scenes. ScatheMote
  14. I like them both but I like Alexander better, mostly because of his scene in FFIX. I just hope they'll appear more often in the future. Mangartist
  15. Alexander is a friggin castle. How cool is that? Anyway, if Diablos and Alexander got in a fight, the giant castle would easily win. Just crush him, and Diablos gets dead. 3155
  16. Khakishro I'm more darkside then light but im only going with Alexander cause Diablos can't actually kill anyone, and Alexander WAS cool in FF 9....
  17. Maverick Riot: Alexander in FFIX was pretty awesome, and is generally a good summon. Gravity spells are useful in far less situations, especially later on in the games, so no kudos there, Diablos. I like both, but Alexander outshines Diablos in this case.
  18. Mr. Rojo: I like both, Diablos was great in FF VIII. But Alexander is one of my favorite summons, also I like more holy. Alexander is fine in every FF he appers, but in FF IX was just so freaking awesome! :)
  19. Heh heh. Template:BfDsig
  20. My Namesake...possibly. signed, Dougar
  21. Sanctiel
  22. Marduk Kurios Holy Damage can kill enemys - Gravitation Damage does not kill enemys. Both are cool - but Alexanders Attack can't "MISS" like the one of Diabolos! =D
  23. Dazuro It's the fucking Giant of Babil. Only with wings in some cases, and huge machine guns in others. How can you NOT prefer it to a bat?
  24. I like Alexander and Judgment more.... EmptySky 01:49, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
  25. MTC I prefer machines to demons.

  27. Gamer2127
  28. mateo360: Alexander because he is so big and cool.
  29. Karura: I like both but Alex is mythical
  30. Pikmin Master: Who needs a home when you have a giant castle that fights back? Alexander, when it's there, has a heck load of holy energy within, so I'm with it.
  31. Arcanedude34: Blah blah FFIX, blah blah Diablos is unoriginal, blah blah my name is Alexander, blah blah.
  32. He's one of the hardest boss battles you are forced to fight in FF11, Diabolos is also one of these battles, some find him difficult, well his avatar fight is, but the story fight with diabolos is a joke, its 40 cap, I went in there with my 37 drk to help out my friend becuase they needed a stunner and I was the only one that wanted to help, compared to my first time fighting him he was pretty easy, Alexander I hear is extremely hard because there is no real easy way to beat him, its basically give your all and hope time doesn't run out, well my point is that Diabolos is a joke and Alexander owns...Phade Paradox 23:31, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
  33. Alexander is just really cool. He's one of my favorite summons, and he also plays a pretty big role in IX's storyline... I do like Diablos, too, but I like all summons. Diablos just gets boring, however. I mean, he does Gravity damage. Wow. Alexander uses Holy magic, now that's pretty awesome. Alexander FTW. Yzz 16:12, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
  34. CidTheFirst: Even only based on the FMVs from Final Fantasy IX.
  35. ChaosEsperVII: Flipped a coin for once.
  36. SpiranKnight: Gravity cannot kill. Holy can.
  37. Cyborg009: Bahamut may be the king of dragons, but when it come to strength, Alexander trumps all.
  38. How useless is gravity magic anyway. Holy wins, everytime. Also; Alexander completly owns Bahamut in FFIX, even if he isn't summonable. Billylemmon
  39. Copycatloki :: I kinda like both but I simply adore Alexander. Besides, in a battle of the two, Diablos would hardly be able to beat Alexander. His Holy would shred Diablos. Kinda like he did with Bahamut in FF9, now that was fun. XD
  40. Well, looks like Alexander is going to win anyways. Cluna 06 03:53, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
  41. Bobo: Based on FFVI, Alexander was better
  42. SamSandy: Alexander has been one of my favorite summons for a long time. I actually ran into him first in FF8, even though I played FF7 first. I only later found out his presence in FF7 through the internet, and I was exhilarated that there was something in the game I had missed and thus had the excuse of playing it through again.
  43. Aetheryn: My vote is for the big guy here. Hard to beat a castle.
  44. I want to.--BigCubby 18:53, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
  45. Not that any of these are exactly among my favourite summons, but alexander is just that much cooler than Diablos. A-Man968
  46. Lion heart 18:52, 13 December 2008 (UTC)I think that Alexander should win because Holy Judgement is the shit and don't get me wrong I like Diablos but personally I think Alexander is ten times better and he looks kooler(yes cool with a K)he just so complex I don't know Alexander is just my favorite summon so...but in battle wise to I think that he would pwn with his ultimate HOly Judgement "darkness over shadows us once again, Oh holy guardian hear out are prayers and deliver us out of darkness into light"-FFIX- Garnet and Eiko (he's so special he has his own little prayer....I don't see one about Diablos) So again I thnk that Alexander should totally win.
  47. AvaGirl: He's cooler. =]
  48. T·A·C·T·I·C·A·N·G·E·L Though I respect Diabolos, he is kind of lame and secondary in all of his appearances (except FFXI).

  1. This summon is so awsome he could kill Diabolos by just standing infront of him....and then this is one of my favourite summons. GOOO Alexander!!!!!!
  2. I need a light more the darkness. The appearance in Final Fantasy is like you going to heaven and become wings.
  3. As they say, bigger is better right?
  4. Both are pretty sweet summons, but Alexander has always been a personal favorite.
  5. One of my favorite summons.
  6. AN awesome summon. He saves Alexandria form Garland's attack in FF9, and his esper in FF6 looks awesome.
  7. his animations are cool. Although theologically speaking, calling a machine "holy" is kinda materialistic... At least he's no demon.
  8. Alexander wins, simply for being the only summon to put up a fight with Bahamut, the ultimate summon, in FFIX. Besides, he is the coolest-looking holy summon.
  9. A long ago, when FFVII was new. I had a cousin named Alex who actually convince me that he submitted his name for a contest and won and that's why the summon is named Alexander. I was such a stupid little boy, and that cousin was and probably still is the person who I admired the most throughout my childhood...anyways "Judgement>Evil Gravity Attack."
  10. HE IS A BIG @#%$ING CASTLE FOR GOD'S SAKES! HE WOULD KICK THE GRAV DUDE'S @#%$!

Votes for Diabolos

  1. !Hexed: <Diabolos>MWAHAHA! I WiN!
  2. I have to go for diablos, He is one of my top 4 summons of all times, and really he is very close to the top of that list even, if not on the top of it. I love gravity spells, and well, just a great looking one too (not saying that alexander is chopped liver, just saying that my loyalties lie on this side of the fence this time). Demagox

  14. Aleria: One's a castle/robot...thing.. the other's a demon. How hard of a choice is that?
  15. Murasame77: Always been one of my favourite summons, without him we wouldn't be able to get Squall's Lionhart on disc 1 not to mention his HP boosts, plus he's just plain awesome.

  17. ONly ever used either of them in VI, but i preferred Diabolos. AtmaCrisis 05:43, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
  18. Phoebe Hume Diabolos. simply. I don't like Alex that much...
  19. Vegna Gunner: In FFVIII (my fav game) Diablos is much more helpful with Tonberrys, and when you've got to beat 20 something in a row, you grow attached to the GF that helps you out.
  20. Rydiaofmist: I prefer demons to machines.
  21. All glory to the darkness...okay fine, he helped me kill the superboss boss on VI (note, this user has no affiliation with the powers of darkness, i dont play favorties)Exdeath64 23:16, 10 December 2008 (UTC)

  1. I like gravity magic and Diabolos' does damage based on max HP instead of current HP, plus I prefer Darkness over Light, so my vote goes to Satan.
  2. Darkness all the way!
  3. Alexander may have whooped Bahamut's ass, but Diablos's attack shares a name with Trance Kuja's kickass theme. Hellboy gets my vote. 125.167.144.117

Same. I thought they took it down for a second... I'm glad I found it. EmptySky

Diablos is a slut ^.^

^^ Mister Unsigned here is funny. Whoever you are, I respect you. Also Diabolos is better.  I Lion Heart I 15:37, 7 December 2008 (UTC)

They are from Final Fantasy XI. TA will most likely eviscerate all three of you sometime soon. 8bit 16:40, 9 December 2008 (UTC)
FFXI is one of the only games where Diabolos and Alexander both appear. Besides, Diabolos looks pretty silly in every other incarnation.
FFVIII has them both in!

Looks like Alexander has double the votes thus far over Diabolos. The Dark Messenger has a lot of catching up to do or this one will be another damn blowout. Sigh... --Tex Howdy! 00:13, 9 December 2008 (UTC)

this is just boring this fight. We need something, dare i say it, KICKASS!! Ultima The High Seraph 19:33, 10 December 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. EmptySky 01:58, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
I just wonder… Why do many people forget Diablos can kill ennemies ? And quite good, instant 9999 damage to any ennemi is not given to anyone Alarielle
For some reason they forgot that Diablos' Dark Messenger goes gravity damage based on max HP not current. I guess they just think that all gravity damage is based on current HP. Oh well.75.181.21.7 22:22, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
Even so, Diablos wouldn't be effective in a Boss fight, while Alexander would. Honestly, how often is a Boss immune to Holy? SpiranKnight
Actually, most bosses aren't immune to Diablos. He's actually one of the best summons in Final Fantasy VIII. ScatheMote
He is also the only way you can get the Tonberry GF and keep your sanity. Defeating 20 some tonberries and their god damn king without Diablos at your side is an insane idea.75.181.21.7 21:28, 12 December 2008 (UTC)
I was under the impression Diabolos was the beast of Gravity, not Darkness. Guess I thought wrong. BlueLionheart Cloudy Wolf (T/C) 02:27, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Oh, wow. I just noticed it's spelled Diabolos, not Diablos. Oops. arcanedude34

It's Diablos in VIII, so it's not wrong either. And like Scathe said, most bosses in VIII are not immune to him. I have beaten Bahamut and Ultima Arma easily with Diablos and Triple Meteor, and I think they are still two of the hardest bosses in that game. BTW, How is it more useful to deal 2000 or so damage instead of 9999 against the same target, at the same level ? Oh and BlueLionHeart, well he is of gravity, but in many FF gravity represents drakness, considering the lack of true darkness spells. Alarielle
