#Fran was actually a pretty interesting character, filled with Viera mystique. She also handled herself pretty well in battle and I love the scene when she freaks out. Not to mention the fact that Vieras are genetically designed to weal stilettos based on the structural makeup of their feet. (True Story) I never really cared for Freya much. I don't care if she is a dragoon, she's ugly and I just can't do ugly.--[[User:High Summoner|High Summoner]] 00:29, 6 June 2008 (UTC) |

Uwee hee hee hee! Welcome, editors, to the Dragon's Neck Colosseum! My name is Ultros the receptionist, and each week I'm taking bets as to who will win in a tussle between two characters from the Final Fantasy series! The winner gets, well, nothing. It's more of a poll, really. The Colosseum owner stuck me on this duty after Kefka was defeated, but I need the money! So what are you waiting for? Get voting! Remember, you can remain anonymous! If you have any requests for future fights, please feel free to leave a message here.
The Rules, Briefly
Functionally, this is a popularity contest. You may vote for your favorite or who you think would win in an competition between the two combatants that week. You may vote only once. If you are a user, please include your vote in the user section. If you are not a user, please include your vote in the anonymous section. It is important to do this because user and anonymous votes carry different weight. Votes
put in the wrong section may be deleted. When a new fight is created, generally once per week, the previous fight's votes will be totaled and its winner decided. Ties may be called if the victor won by a margin of 10% or less.
Week 72: Freya v. Fran
Winner!! undecided |

Battle of the anthropomorphic allies. There are plenty of long, wordy explainations that I might used to describe this fight, but it boils down to this; bunny bow-bow or ratty poke-poke?

Peanut GalleryI'm having a difficult time choosing who to vote for. On the one hand, Freya is a badass Dragon. On the other, Fran is a sexy Viera. Freya is a rat creature, and certainly hidious. And she's not to good in battle (Stiener and Zidane are both finer physical attackers). Yet Fran has no special ability, though she was tough as nails with the Formuhault. And Fran hangs with Balthier. And FFXII beats FFIX any day. I think I know who to vote for now. --BlueHighwind 21:54, 5 June 2008 (UTC) I'm guessing Freya takes the win in the ontest of who's the more popular Anthropomorphic animal female animal character who's name begins with "Fr". Fran's appearance is a bit ridiculous and Viera already look ridiculous too. Are were going for three in a row with FFIX characters? That'd be great --AnonyMan 22:38, 5 June 2008 (UTC)

Week 71: Vivi v. Aeris
Winner!! Vivi 45½ to 28 |
|||||
The most beloved Black Mage meets the most beloved White Mage. Is Vivi's magical potency unbeatable, or can the keeper of Holy fend off this stout mage?

Peanut GalleryExcuse me while I weep for having to make this decision...Drake Clawfang 02:17, 30 May 2008 (UTC) Alright, another great character from Final Fantasy IX is up. Thene again it's hard to find a character from the game who isn't. Can IX's characters go for another win in row? Here's hoping for it.AnonyMan 04:21, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
It would appear that this battle is decidedly less heated. Also, that DO NOT ADD COMMENTS OR EDIT ANYTHING BELOW THIS LINE!!! thing is there for a reason. Chocotard 11:15, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
As much as Vivi pwns the ass of most FF characters, two FFIX characters in a row can be considered one-sided. --AuronKaizer 23:00, 30 May 2008 (UTC) It's never made clear whether or not Vivi dies in the end. -- Drake If one more voter gives a vote for Vivi because Aeris dies, I will change my vote in protest. You all should be ashamed of your self. She was a beautiful, non-existant, fictional character and she deserves better. --BlueHighwind 01:28, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
I'm a petty man, so I moved a vote placed above mine. For the first time in DNC history I cast my vote first and I wanna keep it as such. Sue me. BH, feel free to do the same so I feel less immature. Drake Clawfang 02:00, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
Getting pretty sick of these Aeris death excuses myself, although Vivi has a high vote count a lot of them are ludicrous and should be discounted, as memorable as people claim Vivi is every time i try to remember FFIX all i can think of is Zidane's constant jokes about Steiner. --Thunderkeg 23:42, 2 June (UTC)
Is it just me, or it FFVII always getting more anon. votes then its competitor. Cloudofdarkness

Week 70: Locke v. Zidane
Winner!! Zidane 43½ to 33½ |
|||||
Had FFXII not exist, this would have been the pair that made it to the top of the thief bracket; however, they were cut-down by Balthier and Fran.

Peanut GalleryA Quandry: what do I do when I find a random annon vote for Locke who blatantly ignored the COMPLETELY OBVIOUS ALL-CAPS TEXT TELLING HIM NOT TO VOTE BELOW THAT LINE, and completely ruined the page format for a second? Its so clear that you would have to be blind or illiterate not to notice it. So what should be done with this idiot? Currently its Locke IP vote Number 1. Keep or remove? --BlueHighwind 23:25, 22 May 2008 (UTC) FINALLY, a match with characters I care about. I hope the next one has Zell in it. Anyway, I'm hoping Zidane can win this one, even though VI is probably more loved...around here and Locke with it. Also to the person who said they were playing and still hasn't learned anything about Zidane, Disc 3 is the disc where you find about him.AnonyMan 02:01, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Pikmin Master says: Man, another obvious-looking match. I hope the next match has people I won't expect being in the DNC.
I have to say that Locke and Zidane are wayyyy better thieves than Balthier and Fran. Balthier and Fran are cool personality-wise, but what's with long ranged weapons? (yeah i know they can use any weapons but they started off with those) You need daggers to mug people. Zidane and Locke FTW. --VN
Umm...last time I played FFVI, Locke had an oversized head. In fact, it's about the same size as his whole body! Get it right people! --Alcaeus

Week 69: Lulu v. Edea
Winner!! Lulu 38 to 32 |
|||||
The simmering sorceress is something of an archetype, sometimes hard to sell, but both of these magic maidens are easy on the eyes, to be sure, but which of them bests the other in a bout of black magic?

Peanut GalleryBoth are great, to be honest, but Edea's speech in Deling City was just awesome. --Blykus 06:01, 15 May 2008 (UTC) Anyone else realize that, without trying to give a form of spoiler, Edea's magic is in a constant loop? But I'm hoping this was Edea as a villain instead of the character you get to use temporarily. -Otens Whoever said "Voting for Edea=Voting for Ultimecia" At least Ultimecia was a good final boss, unlike FFX. --AnonyMan 13:13, 15 May 2008 (UTC)
It's 18-17 Edea as I type this. This will be one hell of a "Black Magic Woman" slobberknocker. --Tex 01:02, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
I vote for the real Edea, the kind, pretty and powerful matron, because the Ice Strike is Edea's power, not Ultimecia. ~ Rinja. Wow. The last time I remember a fight this close was Rydia vs. Tifa. Drake Clawfang 13:42, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
Did anyone notice the "Vaan could take on Squall" comment in the anonymus votes for Lulu? I couldn't help but laugh my ass off, a punk-ass like Vaan could even be beatdown by a band of Lulu's dolls, not to mention what Squall could do to him --User:Leiber_Mage
Am I insane or is Edea serious much hotter than Lulu? I want somebody to fight me on this, because I'm thinking that the IPs are mostly idiots. --BlueHighwind 00:37, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
Lulu IP Vote #10, I said "mostly" idiots. There are exceptions, but you are not one of them. They're called apostrophes and are often used in contractions so that "we're" does not become the verb "were". Try them sometime. --BlueHighwind 21:53, 17 May 2008 (UTC)
I LOL'd at someone mentioning that Edea has a voice! Hwahaha... anyways... it's true that everyone can learn magic in FFX, but still you need the key sphere thingy to have access to them. But by the time you unlock it, it's about time to face the final boss. It's not like magic can work well with bosses anyway, there's no point of unlocking. You can always choose the characters to be true to their job classes or not. Besides, I like the sphere grid system than junction. Wait a sec, I thought all FF8 characters can use magic? --VN Yikes! This may be the closest match yet! Chocotard 19:00, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
lol @ anonymous vote for Lulu 5 "it would take FOREVER for a FFX character to COMPLETE two sphere areas." my team, Tidus, Auron, and Yuna, have literally 95% of the grid filled out, and this is my second sweep wiping anything thats a stat that isn't +4. I'm not bragging or anything, just saying it doesn't take as long as you might think. Once you get o a certain point, sphere grid levels come far faster than the actual common drop spheres you fill them in with. Not to mention in comparison to the time I spend in some games leveling characters *cough cough disgaea cough* the amount of time that took was nothing. Total time on my FFX save: around 100 hours, I believe. Time spent on the other game mentioned leveling a _single_ character... around 240 hours. (Both times include me falling asleep while playing several times.) Caidryn 23:22, 19 May 2008 (UTC)Caidryn |
