Uwee hee hee hee! Welcome, editors, to the Dragon's Neck Colosseum! My name is Ultros the receptionist, and each week I'm taking bets as to who will win in a tussle between two characters from the Final Fantasy series! The winner gets, well, nothing. 1. Rough choice, but Kain is awesome in TAY. Jimcloud 04:08, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

  4. In the original FFIV game both were equally cool, but in The After Years Kain Kicked way more ass than Cecil who was under mind control most of the game. GO HOLY DRAGOON!!! President Rufus Shinra 19:58, May 25, 2011 (UTC)
  5. While I disliked Kain in IV and liked Cecil, in Duodecim it is exactly the other way around: Cecil gets on my nerve, while Kain redeemed himself. As such, this vote goes to the Duodecim Kain. MirrorshardSceada 06:23, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

  8. As much as I like Cecil in IV, Kain takes the cake here. And in Duodecim. And the AFter Years.--Uzuki18 14:34, May 26, 2011 (UTC)
  9. As characters, it's definitely Kain. Though it was really hard because both of them has an awesome voice actor. Kain - Gaara (Naruto) and Lloyd (Code Geass). Cecil - Sasuke (Naruto) Suzaku (Code Geass). --RazielZero 15:09, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

  1. Cecil all the way! He's one of my favourite FF characters...that, and I never really liked Kain much..-- 11:48, May 26, 2011 (UTC)
  2. Tough choice, as they are both great characters, but I've always taken more kindly to Cecil than to Kain. Cecil's story was just more sympathetic and you saw him grow as a character. That's not to say Kain didn't either and that if he was the protaganist of IV I'd be saying the same thing about him that I'm now saying about Cecil, but I just feel that Cecil is the stronger character, and I don't mean in terms of strength. Cecil has misgivings, he has regrets, he has to do things that he doesn't want to do, but he takes all that pain and suffering and carries on anyway, while with Kain it enables him to be mind controlled. Yes, he eventually threw it off, but to have never fallen down that path even with all his suffering, Cecil just takes the cake for me. 19:22, May 26, 2011 (UTC)
  3. 00:02, May 27, 2011 (UTC) As much as I would love to say Kain, Cecil's voice in the DS version was beautiful, and Kain fell behind on the list of awesome characters when Edge, Rydia, Edward, and Yang came into the picture. Love them both, but Cecil leads just by a hair.

1. Calling it now. It's gonna be a draw.

Possibly. These are two of the few characters around here who are really popular with very few ire around them. Even Vivi has haters(Haters gonna hate in this case). But I'm thinking Kain will edge out for the win. AnonyMan 12:00, May 26, 2011 (UTC)
  1. I can't vote on this one because I can't tell who is more badass - in the DS version, my Cecil fought Odin (taking no fewer than three Zantetsuken hits) practically solo and won; in the same game, Kain took out Zeromus with his last attack and at 1 HP.
That was deep, whoever it was that posted above me. --Gunji 14:08, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

Just to clarify things just in case some people incorrectly state, Kain wasn't The First Dragoon, Ricard(or Richard) from FF2(the real FF2) was. AnonyMan 18:44, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

Perhaps but Kain was the first 'Standard' dragoon or debatably the dragoon that others are based on - spears, jump, dragon helm, etc. Balthierfan 11:10, May 27, 2011 (UTC)

  24. It's Seymour for me. You never got to play as Barthandelus, for a start, and Seymour didn't transform into anything with a really screwed-up face. Though admittedly, he WAS screwed up. And the hair. Oh, the hair! Tia-Lewise 22:44, May 12, 2011 (UTC)
  25. The fact that you had to fight Seymour numerous times was pathetic and kinda funny in a weird way. He made me laugh with his useless persistence. Dysley on the other hand, was very capable of killing me which I guess made for the better challenge but started to get very annoying very quickly.... --XOneWingedAngelx 00:03, May 13, 2011 (UTC)
  26. i love seymour more as a character then Super pope, in my opinion he is more memorable, his hair defies gravity, a great battle theme and was a great villain overall Judge Magister Pyarox 06:51, May 13, 2011 (UTC)
  27. This is irrelevant; Seymour to me was the hottest man in Final Fantasy. Meaning he'll get my vote over other important reasons because I'm a fag. While I don't like his voice, he is preferred over Dysley. Dsyley, well yes his story and plot are more fascinating, and he does have some awesome name(s) ... --Gunji 09:11, May 14, 2011 (UTC)
  28. Was in the greatest Final Fantasy game of all time, that's gotta count for something. What is His Royal Non-Canonness doing in the Colosseum? Guess you must have run out of good ideas. --AuronKaizer! 19:36, May 14, 2011 (UTC)
  29. --BiggsandWedge 20:23, May 18, 2011 (UTC)
  30. Kaihime 17:38, May 20, 2011 (UTC) Seymour has more depth, and you can sympathize with him more(kinda), at least more then Dysley. Seymour actually had a purpose in doing what he did, in dedication to his father. Dysley was just a human hating Fal'cie. Plus if Seymour didn't have those freaky anntenae hair things, he'd be hot. Kaihime 13:37, May 20, 2011 (UTC)
  31. 22:33, May 20, 2011 (UTC) Way more involvement in Final Fantasy X tha Dysley was in FFXIII. Not to mention he was a playable character that rocked. Plus Anima. Plus his boss fights were fun. Plus....
  32. Seymour for the win. Obvious to even Blind Freddy, that this Super Guado Maniac with many different forms, magic power for the hacks and being a playable character that made a 'tough' battle epically easy, Seymour is clearly the winner when compared to the Wannabe Superpope that Dysley tries to be. As well, as the fact he has Anima, Seymour is a true embodiment of the Magical Super villain that we have come to expect from the Final Fantasy Series, something Dysley is not. XxGuado_SeymourxX 2:50, May 24, 2011 (UTC)
  33. Seymour is'n my first choise of badguy, but his dream of becoming sin is a decent plot, imo. Dysley allso ha a good thing there with ending lifes to summon mother (sounds a bil like the summoning of omega in dirge of cerebus, tho), even if I have a bit of a problem with the creator-of-the-world-thing there. But in the end you'll interact a lot more with saymour and he weren't from FFXIII, witch I didn't like at all. Allso the fight agains Seymour were a lot more fun than Dysleys. Lame stationary robot-thing. Like the sholders tho, and part of the music The Rood Inverse 14:00, May 25, 2011 (UTC)

  3. 00:06, May 10, 2011 (UTC) Seymour, if only because of Anima and he was in the earlier game (which for me is a general way to tell the characters are a bit more genuine).

  5. Definitely Seymour, as he is from my personal favorite game of ALL time. Besides the personal bias, I definitely think he is a more compelling character. A tragic childhood that drove him to desire the erradication of all life to free the world from pain and suffering. Definitely more compelling than some pompous machine god that simply wants his own death and would seek to destroy everything to get it. 16:39, May 18, 2011 (UTC)

  5. 19:30, May 18, 2011 (UTC) Galenth Dysley is a part of a vast, epic mythology that is literally unfolding over another sequel, one whos influence will be felt for generations - the guy is directly responsible for the destruction of Cocoon, thousands (possibly millions) of deaths, nearly added "Genocidist" to his list of "achievements" because of the failed Purge, and has managed to conceal his true hand in all of this as the fal'Cie Barthandelus. Seymour? Aside from having the nerdiest name of any villain in history, he is really just a crazy mamma's boy who causes a bit of havoc before finally being taken down. He was more of a nuisance than an actual threat. I mean, why was he even in the game? You could have taken Seymour out of the equation and it would have had NO impact on the narrative except for removing a couple of boss fights.

Seymour has never been exactly what I would call "badass" mostly because the term is very overused but I have to admit this one line sold me: "If you're offering your lives, I will have to take them" And I'm also just a little ashamed to admit that I find him quite attractive....*sigh* I've never admitted that before --XOneWingedAngelx 00:08, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

I think "Votes for" should be: "Votes for Maester" (Seymour) and "Votes for Primarch" (Dysley), but that's my own opinion. Generally, good fight.—Kaimi (999,999 CP/5 TP) 13:11, May 13, 2011 (UTC)

I agree with every thing people stated about Dysley in his favor. He is many, many times harder to defeat in a fight, his backstory is more than just a deceitful wedding, and he certainly can hold your attention much longer. But Seymour had me in a vice since X crossed the Earth's surface. FFXIII is better than FFX overall however. --Gunji 09:27, May 14, 2011 (UTC)

Everyone is saying Dysley is a hard boss, yet if you level up your character like you would in any other ff (which most people dont because of how linear the game is) he is very easy to beat. 22:22, May 22, 2011 (UTC)

Okay, well, just to clarify some thing .. I've played more than my share of Final Fantasy titles so that said - I know how to level up. Also, this was speaking in terms of Seymour. Dysley is a much harder boss .. Than Seymour. You can't tell me people had a hard time on the Guado.--Gunji 14:05, May 26, 2011 (UTC)

  23. Like lots of people I dislike X-2(and X in general to be fair). As stupid as they and all their outfits are, YRP has WAY more personality. Loz was the only SHM who came anywhere near close enough to be cool. 2. 17:30, April 20, 2011 (UTC)I only have one thing to say to the Remnants: "I don't like your plan. It sucks." (originally Yuna to Nooj just before fighting Vegnagun) Yes, I just did bring up an instance of a White Mage (Yuna's original job-class apart from Summoner) essentially dissing a George Newbern character and getting away with it.
  3. Let's see, 3 pretty ladies versus 3 guys with an Oedipus complex who wish they were pretty ladies; a crappy sequel that at least had decent gameplay versus a crappy sequel that had no redeeming qualities unless you wanted to have fun by counting how many times the word mother was said (I lost count at around 35), and something bad that you could actually interact with and manipulate to some degree versus something that was just bad and you could do nothing but continue watching or shut it off. Seems like a no contest to me. Both groups, and their respective medium, should have never been created, don't get me wrong, and they have plenty of stuff in common about them that's bad, but overall YRP is superior. Also going beyond their medium and how stupid they were portrayed in the sequel compared to the original, YRP could utterly and completely destroy those Sephiroth rejects.

Sadly his Dissidia reincarnation isn't quite as impressive; it's like he's just a manikin of himself. Ultimecia's "alternate outfit" of Lady Edea made me laugh though. Yrl 23:45, April 11, 2011 (UTC)
  40. Kefka best villain ever!!!! User: Rikku Trepe
  41. It's sad that Kefka's getting anti-fan hate almost to the level of Sephiroth these days, but he just deserves this, simple as that. I will say that Ultimecia is a worthy opponent and deserves more love than she gets, but honestly Zemus did her main schtick (I mean the "acting through loved one" bit) better. capefeather 14:15, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

  1. 22:51, April 1, 2011 (UTC) To start, I want to give Ultimecia the credit she is due. Esoteric class (Time Mage), clever plot, strong and beautiful woman. That said, Kefka Palazzo has more personality than many villains, actually succeeded in becoming a god, and ruled for a year over his world. Additionally, his spells are much harder to avoid.
  2. 05:36, April 3, 2011 (UTC) Kefka is a villian, Ultimesia just appears at the end, Seifer is a bad guy ten times better than her

  10. I have no idea why I'm voting for her. It seems to me that Square got into a stalemate when they made Rinoa the sorceress. BTW, I wanted to be the first one to say this: Ultimicia (Who?) =P SquallRocks 22:06, March 30, 2011 (UTC)
  11. As much as I like Kefka (and as much as I know this battle was decided the minute it was nominated), I like Ultimecia's unique idea for world domination better. If she succeeded, she wouldn't destroy the planet then just get bored, she would rule ALL of time FOREVER, plus the whole becoming a god thing was old before even the first Final Fantasy. Rakanadyo 04:36, March 31, 2011 (UTC)
  12. Although I love Kefka, I'm gonna have to throw my weight at Ultimecia. The first Final Fantasy game I played was FF X, and after that I backtracked. Eight was the first one I could get my hands on, and is easily my third favorite in the series (behind VII and X, but don't ask me which one rates higher, you won't like the answer). Final Fantasy VI is the is high up their in my book, and the reason for that is, of course, Kefka. But since Kefka is dominating, and I love VIII so much, my vote belongs here. StarNinja99 That chick that cried! 02:33, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
  13. Kefka becomes pathetic after WoB and Ultimecia was really in control the entire game. --SidVI 13:15, 2 April 2011 (UTC)
  14. Vastly underrated villainess. Especially since people claim she doesn't appear until the end. She appears in DISC ONE, people. Edea doesn't properly appear until later. Ultimecia's there from basically the start. *off my chest*. Rafflesia 13:50, April 2, 2011 (UTC)
  15. Kefka's such a one note character he's a more annoying Ex-Death. God of magic gets beat by magic? Ha! Ulti gets lots of undeserved flak. She's a very competent villain and she's got cojones with her idea of Godhood(way above any other FF baddie) and it takes guts to rock a hair style like that and still be considered a threat.AnonyMan 00:47, April 5, 2011 (UTC)

  20. Kefka was more of a joke than a villain in his game. I just couldn't take him seriously. And he is a bad joker rip-off. I don't like Ultimecia, but I am really annoyed with all the hype that Kefka gets. He is extremely overrated. President Rufus Shinra 20:07, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

  1. 16:25, April 2, 2011 (UTC) Ok, I like both of them but it's Ultimecia who really needs the votes! Plus, I'm a sucker for a tragic backstory, and the fact that Ultimecia was persecuted and condemned for crimes she hadn't actually committed yet (which probably prompted her to become full of hate and anger) makes me feel a little sorry for her, especially as this was so subtly dealt with in the game. Also, she's stylish, classy and, well, lets just say she looks better in that dress than Kefka would... ; ). Plus, I love her tattoos!
  2. I don't know why, but I really like Ultimecia, so heres my vote!# 18:40, April 7, 2011 (UTC)
  3. 19:33, April 7, 2011 (UTC) Ultimecia, one of the best Villains EVER. Her cold, clever personality is awesome.
  4. She is the only villain I almost thought I did not defeat! With her time compression/manipulation Squall and the guys almost never defeated her. Even after defeating her, the party melts into time compression, and I was like *bang!* she wins--totally! Thankfully Squall's love for Rinoa manages to 'bond' the different time strands and time coalesces into a happy ending. Way to go Ultimecia for making the game the ONLY one where I thought all those hours were lost in one, evil, masterminded plan designed to crush (and compress) my innocence!! 00:54, April 14, 2011 (UTC)

The only character besides Vivi that seems to be on par with Sephiroth in popularity vs. A character most people hate for some reason from a game most people hate for some reason, the one sidedness is gonna be painful. Rakanadyo 04:31, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

It is so obvious that Kefka is going to win. LTFabrettiChocobo Dragoon 17:02, March 31, 2011 (UTC)

After all these years people are STILL accusing Ultimecia of showing up out of nowhere at the very end? Really? Seems a lot of people didn't pay ANY attention at all during the game or stopped playing after Disc one. Maybe she should have cooked more crack cocaine and kicked some more kittens to get people to stop hating on her. Next people are gonna start whining that Kuja's ridiculously buff body and rippling muscles are too grotesque and unrealistic.AnonyMan 01:01, April 5, 2011 (UTC)

They are. Everything in IX was made to be more unrealistic. But that's it's charm. I just say the whole cod-piece thing is a little disturbing. King of Noobs 13:23, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
@Anonyman did you complete VIII yourself? she did not appear untill the last 10 minutes of the game Judge Magister Pyarox 21:59, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
What'd you do, start right on the 4th disc? Okay, Ultimecia may have shown up IN PERSON at the end but she was running the show from the start. Her character was established but not shown well before you finally face her.AnonyMan 22:28, April 5, 2011 (UTC)
Seriously, Ultimecia was possessing Edea from the start. It was HER who attacked SeeD in the First and Second Discs... then she possessed Rinoa then transfered to Adel, attacking the party again using Adel's powers. Then finally in the fourth disc, the party faces her. The only way to truly defeat Ultimecia. Also, i've noticed some people saying that Kefka destroyed the world, Ultimecia didn't. Incorrect again, when the party goes to the future, Ultimecia rules it completely. There's a ton of bodies outside of her castle of former White SeeDs. She already controlled the future and she was trying to rule the past and the present as well. 10x more badass than Kefka in my opinion.FatesChosenHero 26:41, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
I give her plenty of credit - she is indeed a badass woman. However, she also seals her own fate by passing her power to Edea at the very end, thus starting the whole game and throwing herself into a temporal loop, during which she is born, lives, conquers, gets killed by Squall and party, passes her power to Edea, dies, and it starts all over again. Meanwhile, after her defeat, the heroes are all celebrating, having escaped that temporal loop. Besides that, her conquest loses something for the audience, since it is never actually witnessed. Kefka is in-your-face with his plot, giving you no peace and showing off his genocidal tendencies from the start - burning all of Figaro just to get one girl (which failed), poisoning all of Doma, using magic to kill multiple Espers just so he can have more power, blasting the world (right before your very eyes) with the power of the Warring Triad and bringing said world to its knees. Again, Ultimecia is a cold, cunning, cruel villainess in her own right, badass in her own way... but there is a reason people prefer Kefka Palazzo. 01:18, April 10, 2011 (UTC)
I wouldn't say sealing your fate in an infinite time loop is SO bad. I mean, it worked out okay for Garland/Chaos for a time. Hell, it's the whole premise Dissidia revolves around. I'm surprised Ultimecia didn't have a more active role in Dissidia. Mynameissora 17:55, April 16, 2011 (UTC)
True! I would have liked to see all the characters given a real moment to shine - thanks to her portrayal in Dissidia, Terra's really not given the credit she deserves, either. In addition to being a badass half-Esper who is turned from a slave-weapon into a powerful woman that discovers herself and her very soul, she saves the party with what would have been the last of her strength if not for that human side of hers. And she kicks Kefka's ass. Terra rocks! XD 23:09, April 19, 2011 (UTC)
Well no offense to Ultimecia in general, but I think the major point people are trying to get across here while voting for Kefka, is that it DOESN'T matter if your spiritual manifestation takes over some one's body in the past to get crap done. That's not good enough, they need to see you up close, face first, in the beginning, doing some thing terrible as yourself, not in the body of some other being. Doesn't matter you can time travel or want to rule time itself. I admit that's some what an original concept. Also, Ultimecia kicking kittens would make me hate her, not appreciate her in a liking sense that makes me want to vote and boost her popularity, sorry. The fact just remains that Ultimecia isn't able to shake her tatas in your face till the end and she's nothing more than a puppeteer that needs to use a 'special' girls powers for time compression. --Gunji 04:39, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
That description in your last sentence can make anyone sound unimpressive. Like Kefka is nothing more than a loon who needed to move statues to be strong. Also you make it sound like Ultimecia is the ONlY villain who needed some outside resources and help to help achieve their goals. Every FF antagonist had some kind of assistance to help them out. Besides if Ulti could actually travel herself Time Compression would have already happened. Ask the cast of Tales of Phantasia how annoy time jumping villains are.AnonyMan 22:04, April 12, 2011 (UTC)
Kefka also required the infusion of Esper energy and magicite to bolster his powers to obscene levels, but that's actually something in his favor - unlike Mateus (sorcerous Emperor), Cloud of Darkness (embodiment of Void), Zemus/Zeromus (hyper-telepathic Lunarian), Exdeath (embodiment of many evils), Sephiroth (alien-hybrid experiment gone wrong), Ultimecia (time sorceress), Yu Yevon (deity-tick), and many, many, many others, Kefka actually had to earn his power. He had to grow and be proactive in his theft of power - he didn't have it handed to him on a silver platter. Even though the game says the infusion gave him "great magical power," he still has to pull it under his control, just like Celes does. This is just one more point that sets him apart from so many other Final Fantasy villains - and thanks to needing to grow in power, he doesn't come off as a threat until it's far too late. His cunning is downplayed and the necessary experience in tactics and trickery just to get to where he is becomes all but forgotten. I say again, Ultimecia is intelligent and powerful, her plan to take over time itself is a superb idea, but she's also very distant and lacked personality until Dissidia. 06:43, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
@Genji, "...Ultimecia isn't able to shake her tatas in your face till the end..." That says a lot about how you think. Also, I wish this were Facebook so I could like the above comment. :) Mynameissora 18:04, April 16, 2011 (UTC)
@Myanmeissora - Thanks! (I think you meant my comment. Presumptuous, maybe, but feel free to call me out on it. XD) Honestly, though, every character has his or her merits - I'm just an unabashed "Kefkultist." XD 23:09, April 19, 2011 (UTC)

@Mynameissora Yes. I am full of cynical comments. Also, @AnonyMan "Besides if Ulti could actually travel herself Time Compression would have already happened." Yeah that's kind of what I meant. --Gunji 09:48, April 18, 2011 (UTC)

I realy like Kefka from ff6 (evil and mad), but I don't like him from Dissidia (to much silly, not enough sinister). I kinda like Ultimecia from ff8 (who/where?), and I realy like her from dissidia (regal). Both are mages. Kefka dresses/fights silly/ugly, Ultimecia dresses/fights cool. Both wants to become gods, but kefka clearly has a better way about it. Hard to say who comes closest tho. Too hard for me to decide. The Rood Inverse 13:16, April 6, 2011 (UTC)

Listen to Kefka's Japanese voice actor. It makes everything better. Master Conjurer 15:32, April 6, 2011 (UTC)
So very true, his Japanese voice actor couldn't be better. His English was good, but... meh. Hence, I got the Japanese version of Dissidia 012. Where voice acting is at the peak of brilliance in terms of games. 1stclasswarrior 22:54, April 7, 2011 (UTC)

Yeah giving credit where credit is due. Yeah Ultimecia is awesome. Takes control of people from thousands of years in the future. Sets a world in the almost civil war like atmosphere and compresses time to where you could visit your self while you where ten and then see you future and what your future could have been if events changed in less then a 10 mile walk. Thats some epic stuff. Yeah I saw her influence through out the entire game but you didn't really understand this was happening until your on the 3 third disc disk which blows. I like to at least to know who the true villain is at least by the second disc. all the other final fantasies have spoiled me so. Im not dogging on FFVII either I love that game , its my favorite of the series thus far. But Kefka That's is one clown you don't mess with he destroyed many cities before you even had a chance to really gain any true power in the game and all your think is holy crap how am i suppose to defeat this guy. They delayed this game being sent to america due to its difficulty. The japanese deemed this the hardest rpg to beat at the time. By the time you get powerful enough to beat he turn into a god. Which make you characters seem a little lacking. Also Ultimecia in FFVIII had a speech impediment... what kinda super villain has a speech impediment. I dislike that they changed this about in Dissidia --Gainsboroughsephiroth 16:30, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Dissidia in general didn't do a lot of characterss personalities justice to their original incarnations. Only a couple actually were better characterized in it like, Bartz and the nameless heroes.AnonyMan 23:21, April 14, 2011 (UTC)
