I'm not a big Cyan fan, but he certainly gets more hate than seems fair. Even Selphie doesn't quite deserve as much hatred as I've seen her get (although I must say that some of it is deserved in her case >.>). There are, in fact, very few characters that I outright hate. Having recently obtianed and completed Crisis Core, I do quite like Genesis, unlike a lot of people. EDIT CONFLICT: @Pyarox: I know that Terra uses a sword. The reason it should be dropped from the rationale is that, as you pointed out, Golbez does not. As for mind control, it wouldn't be brilliant rationale on its own, admittedly, but it's not on its own. It's an extra that enhances the rest of the rationale. Also, you pointed out that one is released from control at the start of the game, and one at the end. I actually see that as a positive, because it's a pleasing sort of symmetry. Just to clear it up, outside the mind control and lineage, Golbez can equip swords in The After Years (if you want to count a spinoff), and playing through the Lunarian chapter you get flashbacks of him using the Ebony Blade when he fights Cecil during the events of FFIV. Terra can wear heavy armor. It says so in her description, and in the armor table for FFVI. Of course, heavy armor isn't always the solution, especially with the Minerva Bustier. I do not mean this as an eight-way battle with each individual fiend being their own team. I can see this two ways: Have a series of four battles between corresponding fiends (Lich vs. Scarmiglione, Marilith vs. Rubicante, Kraken vs. Cagnazzo, and Tiamat vs. Barbariccia); or as a two-way battle, teams divvied like I have above.
