LAST MAN STANDING
CHALLENGER AERISTHSTHSTHS GAINSBOROUGH FINAL FANTASY VII AND SOME OTHER BAD GAMES VICTORY - 8½ TO 12½
I vote for a guy this time. Monterossa (talk) 09:55, March 3, 2015 (UTC)
Aerith's scene makes me cry while Galuf's one does not, but as we vote for ghosts rather than dying people, I'm going with the old man. --Flüstergras 11:29, March 3, 2015 (UTC)
No disrespect for Aerith, but Galuf not only had a purpose in FFV, but when he died, it left a big impact for many players, and it DIDN'T require a well-placed song to do it. (Least not at the exact moment). I could go on. MechaKaiser, who else? (talk) 16:57, March 3, 2015 (UTC)
Unlike Aerith (was only a bit sad at this), Galuf's death made me bawl tears the first time I saw that happen... :( Crashb2007 (talk) 20:57, March 3, 2015 (UTC)
One of the greatest old men who were playable characters. That's got a lot of clout for me. Luacas (talk) 23:39, March 3, 2015 (UTC)
Put simply, Aerith sucks compared to Galuf. He's scrappier, 1,000x spunkier, funnier and Infinitely more awesome and didn't lose his personality over the years. And he uses big rocks as a ride, he knows his way around a mineral.--AnonyMan (talk) 00:06, March 4, 2015 (UTC)
Note that along with Throw Stone, the Squire skillset also contains an ability called Steel. Stone is a kind of rock and steel is a kind of metal. Rock and metal are kinds of music. Therefore this side is musical, while the other is not. CATUSE 07:48, February 23, 2015 (UTC)
I refuse to participate on the left side's attempt (funny as it may be) to make an inanimate object more loved than just about anything. Plus I'm afraid she'd do more damage to me should I chose the other guy, er, thing. MechaKaiser, who else? (talk) 14:31, February 23, 2015 (UTC)
This Edea is awesome!!!! TMG- Why? (talk) 18:27, February 23, 2015 (UTC)
I think the/a rock is getting too much attention.Free bird (talk) 23:44, February 23, 2015 (UTC)
I think Edea in this costume is extremely cute. --BlueHighwindツ 01:39, February 24, 2015 (UTC)
The Democrats should run a ridiculous meme candidate in 2016. "Vote Rock in 2016, he is America's Foundation." Enough people will be swayed by ironic stupidity that they will be a shoe-in to defeat the inevitable Republican president. --BlueHighwindツ 15:17, February 28, 2015 (UTC)
A rock would probably get more done than our current government, sadly enough. King of Noobs 20:22, February 28, 2015 (UTC)
btw if someone were to draw a rock with long, flowing braided bangs we would probably run it as an image. Not that many good pictures of a rock on the site. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 04:47, March 2, 2015 (UTC)
I know about this Edea than the other one... Crashb2007 (talk) 00:34, February 17, 2015 (UTC)
Meh. Edea Lee would most likely be one of the characters I like least in BD anyway. Gotta respect someone who took precautions to take herself out due to shenanigans she knew the consequences of them.--AnonyMan (talk) 12:14, February 19, 2015 (UTC)
Edea is better than Edea. --Flüstergras 15:40, February 19, 2015 (UTC)
Merely voting for the more familiar candidate is a poor way to vote, but I suppose it'll have to do for now. I really liked Ms. Lee's development in Bravely Default, and I'm excited to see her grown up even more in Bravely Second. Unfortunately, as cool as I think Ms. Kramer is, I've yet to get very far in FFVIII. MetroSubwayAndroid (talk) 03:51, February 23, 2015 (UTC)
I don't want a Sorceress who is possessed by a being who wants to achieve time compression anywhere near me, thank you very much. I would much rather have Beetlejuice than her... The other Edea would be cool though (All the shopping trips we could go on! :D ) TMG- Why? (talk) 11:42, February 17, 2015 (UTC)
Well, if you're assuming I meant that Edea, she got better. But, uh, I'm not a big fan of any VIII characters except for Laguna. And if you say his name three times, he doesn't show up, you just turn into a moomba. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 08:36, February 18, 2015 (UTC)
CHAMPION GALUF HALM BALDESION FINAL FANTASY V DEFEAT 15-8
LAST MAN STANDING
CHALLENGER A ROCK (not Ramza) FINAL FANTASY TACTICS + ASSORTED VICTORY 15-8
Okay, let me try and explain this. ... Okay, deep breaths. Breathe in. Breathe out. Okay. You see... *snrrrrrk* oh God, this is hard. Um.
Right. So, our noble hero, king of Bal, Galuf, has defeated every opponent we've set against him so far in a display of unparalleled brutality. The gore was too much. So in response, we've pitted him against a common rock. Because, you see... you can't get blood from a stone.
I'd love to have an inanimate rock win LMS, I just think Galuf is way to cool to lose this one, though there's an excellent chance he will.Free bird (talk) 01:47, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
I really would like to vote for the rock, but as a tree, Exdeath is probably a Grass-Type, so he would have an edge over Rock-Types. I don't think that poor rock would have lasted as long as Galuf did. MetroSubwayAndroid (talk) 19:57, February 11, 2015 (UTC)
Request for the next battle: in memory of Monty Oum, Team Final Fantasy/Kingdom Hearts vs Team Dead or Alive/Ninja Gaiden. Or do I need to put this on the nomination page?--220.127.116.11 21:20, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
I'm hoping that next week we can have the epic battle between Rock and a Hard Place. Then followed by the grand three-way duel of Rock, Paper, and Scissors. --BlueHighwindツ 01:17, February 3, 2015 (UTC)
@AnonyMan: I AM THE LAW! COURT ORDER DENIED *throws the book at you* -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 12:19, February 3, 2015 (UTC)
SCM, you need a snickers. You're starting to get all judge-y. King of Noobs 23:31, February 3, 2015 (UTC)
Yeah, man. Books hurt.--AnonyMan (talk) 00:06, February 4, 2015 (UTC)
I have just realised- we have had a "landslide" of puns! TMG- Why? (talk) 22:28, February 5, 2015 (UTC)
If only there was some large, heavy object handy that I could hit you with for suggesting that Pzykosiz (talk) 13:06, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
Awwww, I thought that pun rocked! :( TMG- Why? (talk) 21:09, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
I'm not entirely sure if I should groan or laugh at that. King of Noobs 23:24, February 6, 2015 (UTC)
I'm "gravel"'ing on my knees here- please appreciate my puns! TMG- Why? (talk) 18:00, February 7, 2015 (UTC)
We have come to take bad puns in the DNC for granite. Indeed, there are more slated for next week. 19:26, February 7, 2015 (UTC)
I feel like some of the puns we've been tossing may have gone awry and beaned the poor Committee member in charge of updating this week. King of Noobs 23:02, February 9, 2015 (UTC)
I feel like it was supposed to be me, but I did another fight the week after my week so *shrug*. You get an extra week to show the rock some love. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 11:31, February 10, 2015 (UTC)
Must've been poor Jimcloud then, she's always getting caught in the line of fire. King of Noobs 13:42, February 10, 2015 (UTC)
Nah, Jim did this one. Which would mean this week should have been Scathe? Eh, who cares. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 22:01, February 10, 2015 (UTC)
Week 335: Throw the White Mage a Bone Week: Rosa vs. a RockEdit
VICTOR A Rock 12½ to 10
I was looking through the nominations archive and noticed a pattern with nominations involving Rosa. You see, the wiki's biggest Rosa fanboy would always vote against the fights, because he was so convinced Rosa would lose he could only express his pre-emptive disappointment in the form of rejection votes and text walls.
So I thought we should try to have a fight that Rosa would win. After a long, hard session of inward reflection, I figured the only thing with less character than Rosa is an inanimate rock. So, we're going to pit Rosa against one and finally give her the victory she deserves! Right? ...riiiiight?
*sigh* You're all going to vote for the rock, aren't you?
Blue, I think you got it backwards, amigo. Rock dumped Cecil, it was too much mineral for his broke ass. So he went and settled for the Bronze. AnonyMan (talk) 03:36, January 26, 2015 (UTC)
So question, if the rock wins in this fight will the rock be fighting in LMS? Could have a corny fight description "will he rock galuf or will galuf leave no stone unturned?" --Ffgamesftw (talk) 02:38, January 30, 2015 (UTC)
Well I've done two fights in a row now, so if rock gets to go on to become LMS champion or not isn't my call to make. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 04:15, January 30, 2015 (UTC)
Imagine if rock became The Last Man Standing Champion? Oh the hilarity. King of Noobs 13:41, January 30, 2015 (UTC)
my god, what is everyone's problem with Rosa? So there wasn't much character development, most of the other characters didn't get much either. Pzykosiz (talk) 01:37, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
Just having a littke laugh, mate. And Rosa's actually won against non-inanimate objects in prior DNCs...somehow.AnonyMan (talk) 12:25, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
Rocks are simply awesome, amigo. King of Noobs 13:39, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
I think I made that statement look a bit too outraged. Still #TEAMROSA4EVA Pzykosiz (talk) 23:48, February 2, 2015 (UTC)
CHAMPION GALUF HALM BALDESION FINAL FANTASY V VICTORY 12 to 6
LAST MAN STANDING
CHALLENGER LOUISOIX LEVEILLEUR FINAL FANTASY XIV DEFEAT 12 to 6
So this week we let our victor from last week, Catuse, choose who he wanted to see take on the Warrior of Dawn, and he selected the leader of the Circle of Knowing. And there's a lot of similarities between the two. They're both old, seem to have a penchant for gold lining on their armor, and both went out in a pretty awesome blaze of glory. And now they're here, fighting, because, well, why not.
Louie had to die and be reborn because his game was trash. Though he's a decent guy, Galuf is still the Zenith of Awesome FF characters, Old or in general. All others are only inspired by Mr. Badassion---I mean Baldesion.AnonyMan (talk) 12:54, January 19, 2015 (UTC)
G is for Galuf, A is for "A Galuf", L is for "Look, A Galuf", U is for "Ultra-cool! Look, A Galuf" and F is for "Fucking Ultra Cool! Look, A Galuf!" --BlueHighwindツ 03:30, January 25, 2015 (UTC)
Two reasons 1) An attempt to make the fight less one sided. 2) Galuf? Fighting a tree? So last year. Fighting a hella big badass dragon, dying and then [SPOILER] is the latest trend! TMG- Why? (talk) 07:05, January 20, 2015 (UTC)
Galuf has got a great personality, but also an horrible design. This one looks much better! GoldenChocobo 14:50, January 22, 2015 (UTC)
I promised to put Louisoix's (and the rest of XIV 1.x, let's be honest here) big scene in the description somewhere, but couldn't think of anywhere that wouldn't feel shoehorned so here you go. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 23:24, January 18, 2015 (UTC)
Today's DNC is a very special week. Indeed, instead of having a fight (because there has been one nomination in three months and I, while amazing, beautiful, and brilliant, cannot continue spit out interesting fights every two weeks; seriously, go nominate new fights for me to do), we shall have a different kind of DNC this week. I ask but one simple task: please write me either evocative poetry or prose about the handsomeness of Ultros. Indeed, this week you are competing the DNC for a super special fabulous prize (judged by my compatriot in madness Jimcloud). This is a limited time to win both honor and fantastic riches, so you'd better deliver.
So evoke some tentacles with the beauty of your words! Also please nominate some fights while you're at it.
I'm not sure if this counts as poetry (it would be iambic pentameter, since that's the only common poetic form I know that isn't a haiku, if I could be bothered to figure out stressing, so I guess it's just ... decameter?), but here's mine:
Maybe it's time we wipe the archive and start the DNC anew. Bring back old fight combinations. A lot of time has passed, we might even get different results! King of Noobs 23:40, January 15, 2015 (UTC)
By the way, the prize is probably going to be (assuming we don't come up with a better idea) deciding who's the next LMS challenger, so people who aren't IRC regulars should probably note who they want to nominate somewhere. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 21:31, January 12, 2015 (UTC)
CHALLENGER GALUF HALM BALDESION FINAL FANTASY V VICTORY 16 to 1½
LAST MAN STANDING
CHALLENGER GAU FINAL FANTASY VI DEFEAT 16 to 1½
Sometimes in life, you come across decisions. Very important, life-changing ones. Decisions like "should I update the DNC today, or should I put it off and forget for two days?" But that's not what we're here to talk about today. What we're talking about is when life thrusts decisions on you without your consent. Like when the random number generator 'randomly' generates the same competitor for the second LMS slot twice in a row. But what are you going to do, right? That's life.
...What I am trying to say is that I absolutely have no idea how these two competitors go together. I tried my best, guys. But one of these two will rise to take the coveted defending champion spot away! Will it be the noble King of Bal, or the feral child from the Veldt? Who will be the Last Man Standing?
Sorry to make all the fellow Wikians sad, but I'm voting here only as a pity vote; I never liked Gau that much, but I think it's terrible for anyone to suffer such a landslide without a single vote. JC Holy Knight (talk) 23:19, January 9, 2015 (UTC)
Hey, Gau is awesome. But when competing with the awesomeness and badassery that is the greatest Grandpa of all of Final Fantasy? Perhaps Video Games period? There's no hope for the little guy. King of Noobs 13:55, January 7, 2015 (UTC)
Though Yoshida did totally help rebuild XIV from the ground up to not blow ass anymore, gotta go with Nomura. He did the character designs for SE's best post PS1era game, THE BOUNCER! I demand crossovers with KH or FF. Get DreamFactory on the phone!--AnonyMan (talk) 12:58, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
I changed my mind. Spiting Monterossa over his tit-based opinions is much more important than praising Yoshi-P. -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 22:45, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
I suspect you are the only one who hoards edit warring idiots. Jimcloud 08:16, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
Maaaaaaaaybe. CATUSE 08:18, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
Oh come on, no option for Lord Toriyama, King Of All Waifu Havers, Hallowed Be Thy Name? -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 08:25, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
Sometimes I wonder about the mental state of our lovely DNC... then I remembered, I got a wikia account because of the DNC... King of Noobs 13:35, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
Akira Toriyama should be an option. DRAGON QUEST RULES ALL FINAL FANTASY. --BlueHighwindツ 22:44, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
If that were true Dragon Quest would be more recognizable to RPG fans. How do I know? I saw DQIX, a game that introduced me to the franchise, in the $9.99 bin of a GameStop once. What does that tell ya? MechaKaiser, who else? (talk) 23:03, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
It tells you that you bought the game far too early, you could have gotten it for way cheaper if you had waited. --BlueHighwindツ 23:33, December 31, 2014 (UTC)
...That Japan is still the primary market? (Alternate answer: that you are taking a comment in the DNC seriously, in which case lol) -- SomeColorMage ~ (Talk) 23:13, December 29, 2014 (UTC)
CHALLENGER EDWARD "EDGE" GERALDINE FINAL FANTASY IV Tie
LAST MAN STANDING
CHALLENGER GAU FINAL FANTASY VI Tie
Okay, it's story time, guys, so sit down. So I'm all ready to make Edward vs. Snow, and I go to check on our new challenger. The thing is, it's possible I may have been dipping in the Secret Admin Hot Springs an hour prior, and as such, she attempted to murder me on sight. So we had to make an emergency change to our roster. So I was scoping out potential replacements, but this was one of the few who seemed excited at the prospect of beating Edgeward in a fight. His exact words at the idea were "Aw yeah!" ... On mulling it over, it might have been "Gau yeah!", but I'm going with the first one.
Anyways. Our two seasoned, veteran competitors from the golden SNES era of Final Fantasy will be duking it out for your enjoyment in this matchup of the second (or perhaps third) billing protagonists. Who will be the victor in this contest of mild mediocrity? Who will be the Last Man Standing?
