Week 250: BAD FIGHT WEEK! Four quality* fights![]
DSS's Fight: Cloud Strife v. Ultimecia[]
VICTOR CLOUD 22 to 18½ |
DSS's comment: I've seen more than a few fans claim that Squall and Sephiroth would have matched up better as far as hero vs. villain go, as both are dark and brooding and have a penchant for leather and emotional problems. But this fight isn't about them, this fight is about who would be left over when the two bad boys realize they're a much better match for one another. So who will emerge victorious in this battle of irrelevancy? | VICTOR CLOUD 22 to 18½ | |||

Jimcloud's Fight: Jabbos v. Tenzen[]
VICTOR Jabbos 14 to 7 |
Jimcloud's comment: One of these characters became enamored with a race of "monsters", and was ostracized from his people for his attempts at humanizing them. The other is a hero of his people and would do anything to save them, even if it meant doing something monstrous. Also, we could be doing this every other week, so take a moment to be thankful that we're not. | VICTOR Jabbos 14 to 7 | |||

Scathe's Fight: Strago Magus v. Umaro[]
VICTOR Strago 15 to 10 |
Scathe's comment: Most battles are about who is stronger. This is not one of those battles. Indeed, this battle is the exact opposite: it is a showdown between the two weakest characters in Final Fantasy VI. But whose weakness will lead them to a pitiful victory? Will Strago actually managed to pull his weight for once? Will Umaro actually do anything but attack? The answer is probably no. | VICTOR Strago 15 to 10 | |||

Silly Bonus Fight: Terra's hair, when she lets down at the end of Final Fantasy VI v. Garnet's hair, after she cuts it[]

VICTOR Garnet's Hair 18 to 15 |
We've taken the liberty of removing any image intruding on this fight. Anyway, this is a fight about character development…and hair. Terra lets down her hair after triumphantly defeating Kefka while Garnet cuts hers and learns how to cope with tragedy. Both are memorable scenes, but which hair was more memorable? Who will be the last hair standing? | VICTOR Garnet's Hair 18 to 15 | |||

Peanut Gallery[]That, and this kind of "fight" is not silly at all. It's a comparison of plot/character development, and not just merely between two characters, as is always done here. (If not, then a fight between characters' hairstyles is certainly different enough to pique your interest, don't you think? :) ) MissH <3 16:31, May 27, 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for answering my question without me asking scathmote. I was curious if you found these images or just did some photoshopping. --Ffgamesftw (talk) 18:28, May 27, 2013 (UTC) @Scathe - almost as bad as faceless Squall. Drake Clawfang (talk) 22:12, May 27, 2013 (UTC) |
Week 249: Ace v. Setzer Gabbiani[]
VICTOR Setzer 22½-13½ |
Which of these light-haired pretty boys is the greater wielder of cards? Who will have lady luck on their side, and who will be left fumbling with their deck? Who believes in the heart of the cards? Prepare yourselves, because... It's time to D-D-D-D-D-D-D-D-DUEL! |

@Silent Voice-Of course not he's a Charming Pretty MAN. You can be pretty and manly at the same time. Anyone who thinks otherwise is foolishly mistaken --AnonyMan (talk) 22:28, May 22, 2013 (UTC) While this is turning out to be a bit of a landslide, I would like to say it's good that another game is getting represented. There are a lot of the games which get largely ignored (some for good reason, but others not so much) --Pzykosiz (talk) 03:47, May 25, 2013 (UTC) |
Week 248: Last Man Standing Round 37: Basch v. Rufus[]
DEFENDING CHAMPION BASCH FON RONSENBURG FINAL FANTASY XII VICTORY - 25 to 11½ |
LAST MAN STANDING |
CHALLENGER RUFUS SHINRA FINAL FANTASY VII DEFEAT - 25 to 11½ | |||
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Our two competitors for this week's Last Man Standing are rather different. One took the fall for murdering his liege despite being a man of integrity, and the other took power after his father's untimely death, despite his own less-than-honorable actions when his father was in power. They do share one thing in common: this battle, where one will move on to the next battle, and the other will fall. Will the honorable knight or the conniving businessman win this fight? Who will be the last man standing? | |||||

Peanut Gallery[]@Rufus Anon#1: So we're just ignoring the fact that many Shinra fools lost their fights (and lives) against Cloud, Tifa, Aerith, Red XIII, Cid, and Yuffie, who themselves use "antiquated" equipment. And let's not also forget the fact that two of the most badarse Turks in the game use fairly old-style equipment as well, Reno uses a baton and Rude just punches people. If Final Fantasy should have taught you anything, old tech > new tech. King of Noobs 12:43, May 16, 2013 (UTC)
I haven't played XII, so I read through his entry to see if I would consider voting for him over Rufus. For most of the game, he seems like exactly the sort of 'honorable no matter what' knight that I love Cyan for being. But his choice at the end of the game makes no sense to me. Rufus' Advent Children switch makes far more sense to me. Switching subjects, I blame the landslide against Rufus on the fact that Basch's art looks like one of Barney Stinson in a mildly elaborate pick-up attempt.SlamShuffle 19:54, May 16, 2013 (UTC)

Week 247: Rufus v. Edea[]
VICTOR Rufus 24 to 22 |
Today, Rufus and Edea face off. These two have more in common than one would think: both come to power after the assassination of the president and after a change of heart (or the removal of the possession of an evil witch) join forces with the heroes. After the previous two DNC battles were considerable landslides, it seems that this one here is going to be a considerably close one. Makes sense seeing as how we have two supremely awesome knight characters going at it, here! Free bird (talk) 22:37, April 29, 2013 (UTC)
I'm curious, what exactly makes Basch badass? I understand Beatrix, but Basch doesn't seem to be badass type to me. It's not a knock on him, I just see him as a humble knight. Razordash04:02, April 30, 2013 (UTC)
How long does this fight last? I want to wait until the very last minute to pull out all my hair trying to choose between two of my favorite FF characters. Silent Voice (talk) 09:38, April 30C)
@Lycro-That's a really good point. Closest to a reprimand she gets is being called out by Zidane on her loyalty just prior to actually changing sides. I might actually change my vote now.--AnonyMan (talk) 21:27, April 30, 2013 (UTC)

Week 245: Beatrix v. Leo[]
VICTOR BEATRIX 21 to 13 |
These two warriors are both noble knights who struggle between their devotions to their lord and their devotions to their ideals, putting them in opposition to the party for a time. They're also both obscenely powerful for the point in the game that they are involved in, and you get to play as both of them once! Hey just wanted to point out that the description is wrong you get to play as beatrix twice and leo once. First you play as beatrix in the escape from alexandria scene and then later in the part where kuja attacks alexandria --Ffgamesftw (talk) 17:18, April 23, 2013 (UTC) |

Week 243: Cyan Garamonde v. Basch fon Ronsenburg[]
VICTOR BASCH 21½ to 25 |
Loyalty, strength and honor are just a few words that could be used to describe this week's combatants, Cyan and Basch. Both are older members of their respective parties who joined resistance forces after their homelands were decimated by a much larger empire. Both are driven by revenge, a wish to resurrect their fallen nations, and lost family members. But whose honor shines brightest? | VICTOR BASCH 21½ to 25 | |||

@ScathMote - Given that the final dungeon in FFVI requires 3 parties (12 characters out of 14 total), I'm surprised at the implication that Cyan didn't make the cut for use. I typically leave Gau and Umaro on the airship. Who do you leave behind? Or do you simply not collect Cyan in the World of Ruin? SlamShuffle 19:24, April 9, 2013 (UTC)
@Tidus357: Cyan's just that cool. Simple as that. And that's exactly what I mean about Vaan, there's nothing wrong with him. Kid's totally benign. XII's cast is okay(except like, Fran) but VI's is much more endearing.--AnonyMan (talk) 21:35, April 9, 2013 (UTC)

Faris became the third character to become Last Man Standing Champion! Now, two randomly selected characters face off! Peanut Gallery[]Cat, I think you've gotten your wires crossed. The Excalibur is a part of the Arthurian legend, making its existence heavily disputable, while there are several known Masamunes. -- Some Color Mage ~ (Talk) 03:21, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
To clear things up, the Masamune is not a "sword" as such, or least not in the vein that Excalibur refers to a particular sword, the one given to King Arthur by the Lady of the Lake in the mythos. Masamune was a famed Japanese swordsmith, not a sword itself, and I believe the confirmed Masamunes SMC is referring to would be several swords crafted by him.Squallisnotemo (talk) 09:09, March 25, 2013 (UTC)
