While that meaning truly comes from the Necromancer, Blue Mages have always taken the role of being some of the best mages in game for spells that are unique and useful from enemies. Take a majority of great spells from every game and you have a powerhouse of lethal and helpful spells. Also, remember FFVII? If you play your cards right you can beat the game with little use from Magic Materia alone. Peanut Gallery Okay, explaining how this went. Basically, each of us on the committee chose one fight in the archives that we liked to get a redo here for our 200th fight(s). Ideally, these were all supposed to be ready for me to put on the page today, with a little speechy thing about why we picked our fights, but only DSS made his but I can improvise. Deadlyslashsword's Choice: Freya Crescent v. Fran

VICTOR Freya Crescent 17 to 13½	I had a tough time picking one fight, but I'm fairly happy with this choice. Freya and Fran play very similar roles in their respective games; both fairly quiet and quick-minded, coming from tribes of animalistic/humanoid people. Both left their very inclusive homelands in search of a greater calling, eventually helping their respective protagonists overthrow great evils. I followed the DNC for awhile beforehand, but this fight stood out enough for me to vote in. I was always a big fan of FFVII, and the Turks were always entertaining characters for me. And after joining just for the sake of voting in this fight and languishing around the forums for awhile, I noticed that I wanted to help out with the content of the wiki. Jimcloud's Choice: Moogle v. Chocobo

VICTOR Chocobo 13½ to 17½	For my own fight, I took a look at the list, and this fight immediately stood out to me. Well, okay, no, Cactuar v. Tonberry immediately stood out to me, but within that same periphery was Moogle v. Chocobo, and when I noticed it, I immediately seized the idea. Moogle versus Chocobo was the first fight of my own (now defunct) arena, and so there's a good deal of nostalgia in it for me. Not to mention everyone likes the two great mascots of FF to one degree or another, so why shouldn't they duke it out?				VICTOR Chocobo 13½ to 17½

Lionheart is one of the best ways to deal damage in the entire game, just slap an Aura spell on Squall and press triangle until his limit can be selected, then select it and watch the fireworks (triggering with R1 as necessary). Aura is just a late game spell that lets you trigger one (nearly) on command. Peanut Gallery Okay, we have a fight between Celes and Zack this week. Previously in the Dragon's Neck Colosseum we've had fights between Kefka and Sephiroth (Kefka won that one, if I recall correctly). And then later the musical themes did the fighting for the bad guys they represent: "Dancing Mad" vs. "One-Winged Angel" (fans liked "One-Winged Angel" better that time). There's been (listed in no particular order) Sabin vs. Tifa, Setzer vs. Cait Sith, Setzer vs. Tifa, and Magicite vs. Materia. In other words, a lot of VI vs. VII fights. Will the next one be Terra vs. Cloud? Setzer vs. Cid Highwind? Or is someone in the committee going to try and ban future VI vs. VII fights? Just curious. One of the big reasons she likely won against Kain was because she was perceived as "underrated" while Kain was perceived as "overrated," slanting two types of votes in her favor. Again, it's all about perception, and as of late, Final Fantasy V and VI have not been seeing much love at all, not when compared to many other Final Fantasy games. ...Also, @Genbolt, one of the major reasons her story was "ham-fisted" and "shoved down the players' throats" might be because she was a main character and out in the open as opposed to Delita, who was pretty much behind the scenes after the first chapter of Tactics. FFVI has the baggage of being a SNES era game so they just didn't have so much in the way of facial and body expressions I guess, so it's easier to seep into melodrama to make a point. In my opinion what is good character development represents the character more as what we are...or used to be...rather than what we want to be. If this makes any sense. I am thinking of the War of the Lions translation, but my understanding is the Japanese version was always quite "Shakespearean", the original PS translation just didn't reflect that. Peanut Gallery This is a close call. I mean, they're both good though not great characters and are both excellent in battle at higher levels. Oh, and Spoilers: their grandparents both die . Celes has a lightsaber, but I'd like to see a fifth Krile fight ... we've yet to have a Krile landslide. But Krile gets the vote since Celes is stuck in one job, Krile has many many many. Including samurai. I am up to World of Ruin in FF6, and I can see how well developed her character is. Her abilities stack up nicely and is very versatile in combat and magic. As much as I think Kain is a good character, Celes was better. Not only did she defect from the Gestahlian empire, and everything she ever knew, but she also continued to live and fight even after considering the possibility of being the last person left alive in the entire world. Battle-wise runic can absorb most magic and thereby MP, while jump has a long loading time and simply deals more damage. Cid is only fought once, while Seymour must be fought a grand total of four times. Plus his backstory in the Anima sidequest is interesting. I also found Seymour far more manipulating and evil than Cid was. Cid only fought in order to stand against the Fal'cie, rather than for a crazy idea to wipe the world clean of people to end their "suffering". Peanut Gallery Huge apologies about the DNC going down today and the fact that a temporary page had to be made. I accidentally deleted the page while clearing out the articles for deletion. To make a long story short, the page won't undelete because the history was too big. I've contacted Wikia, and the fight's being hosted here for the time being. Sorry about that guys. But when it comes to the DNC, users have gained hundreds of project space edits each for typing in a hash and four tildes a number of times. Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer when project space is used minimally for things beneficial to the wiki like policy and stuff. I think the wiki should get an arena namespace. I <3 that idea.
