Final Fantasy V features numerous accessories and accessory classes. This page lists and describes them, their stats, their special properties, and their methods of acquisition. The primary names are the ones given in the Advance and subsequent releases. Other supported translations (i.e. from the SNES and PS versions) may be listed beneath the primary names. The translations page has a more exhaustive list of alternative names.
Mechanics[]
With limited exceptions (e.g. fixed damage), damage in Final Fantasy V is calculated according to a general algorithm that can be simplified into a formula for illustrative purposes:
The meaning of each component of the formula, the base sub-formulas to compute A, D, and M, and the additional modifiers are all explained in detail here.
Accessories generally contribute to the wearer's stats that feature in the D parameter, and to the wearer's evasion and magic evasion. Some special properties also contribute to the A and M parameters. Accessories may also contribute to the weight stat.
Special properties[]
Some accessories have one or more special properties. Most of them are not mentioned in the in-game descriptions.
The special properties that are relevant for accessories are:
- Added status
- Catcher
- Elemental
- Elemental magic booster
- Probability booster
- Stat booster
- Status immunities
- Miscellaneous
Obtained[]
There are several ways to obtain accessories in Final Fantasy V:
- They can be bought in shops.
- They can be found in chests, pots, other containers, and interactable spots of the environment (bushes, walls, etc.).
- They can be obtained by talking to NPCs.
- They can be dropped by enemies, either as a guaranteed drop (100% probability), or as a common drop (15/16 probability), or as a rare drop (1/16 probability).
- They can be stolen from enemies, either as a guaranteed common steal (100% probability), or as a common steal (246/256 probability), or as a rare steal (10/256 probability), or as a unique rare steal (10/256 probability, repeatable until successful). These probabilities need to be compounded with the probability of a successful steal (40% normally, and 80% with the Thief's Gloves equipped).
