The Final Fantasy VII remake project is a sub-franchise within the Final Fantasy VII series. Building upon and reimagining the story of Final Fantasy VII, it continues and connects deeply with the Compilation of Final Fantasy VII. The franchise consists of three games and additional media that connect and retell parts of the original game's narrative.
The remake project has been described by Motomu Toriyama as a "coming together" of all the works set in the Final Fantasy VII universe to date.[1]
