Final Fantasy VII Rebirth elements

The following is a list of elements in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth, all of which were carried over from Final Fantasy VII Remake and have similar gameplay purposes and effects. The element of one's attack affects the damage dealt based on a target's weakness to that element or a resistance to it. Targets can also be immune to or absorb damage from an element. Several Magic Materia also have one or multiple elements tied to them, which can be paired with Elemental Materia on a party member's weapon to imbue their attacks with the element, or on armor to resist it. The summon Kujata is capable of using Fire, Ice, and Lightning simultaneously. Yuffie can use all elements and swap between them with Elemental Ninjutsu just like in "Episode INTERmission".

Fire

Fire can be used by party members with the Fire Materia or the Fire and Ice Materia equipped. The element is also used by the summons Ifrit and Phoenix.

Cloud's Firebolt Blade hits with fire damage on the third and final hit.

Fire is effective against most of the human enemies, save for a few bosses.

Ice

Ice can be used by party members with the Ice Materia or fire and ice materia equipped. Ice spells are improved from Remake in that the ice crystals shatter faster, making it less likely that a fast-moving enemy can avoid the damage entirely. The element is also used by the summon Shiva.

Red XIII's Chilling Roar does minor Ice damage to enemies that strike him.

Ice is effective against most of the biological enemies, save for a few bosses.

Lightning

Lightning can be used by characters with the Lightning Materia or Lightning and Wind Materia equipped. The element can be used by the summon Ramuh.

Cloud's Firebolt Blade does lightning damage with the first two hits.

Lightning is effective against most mechanical enemies, including bosses.

Wind

Wind can be used by characters with the Wind Materia or lightning and wind materia equipped. It is the element used by the summon Chocobo & Moogle.

Tifa's Reverse Gale does wind damage and drags enemies closer to her. Yuffie specializes in wind damage with her Windstorm.

Wind is effective against most of the flying enemies, save for a few bosses.
