The eight status icons.

The following is a list of statuses from Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. If an attack would have caused an ailment but the target is immune, the message "strong against" will be reported.

Fatal[]

FFMQ Fatal Icon

This status can only be removed by using Life on the afflicted party member.

Petrify[]

A petrified character will not be able to have their turn, it can be removed with either a Heal Potion or the Heal spell.

Heal White Magic Can either inflict Poison, Confusion, Sleep, Paralyze, or Petrify on a single enemy.
Dragon Claw Weapon Can inflict Poison, Paralyze, Sleep, Confusion, Blind, Stone, and Silence.
Golden Web Enemy Ability Non-elemental attack that can inflict Petrify.
Stone Beak Enemy Ability Non-elemental attack and can inflict Petrify.

Paralyze[]

A paralyzed character will not be able to have their turn, the status will fade when enough time has pass. It can be removed with either a Heal Potion or the Heal spell.

Confusion[]

FFMQ Confusion Icon

Confused party members will have question marks pop up around their heads. The victim will attack allies and enemies alike, attacking physically or casting spells at random. The status will fade when enough time has pass, it can also be removed with either a Heal Potion or the Heal spell.

Poison[]

A poisoned character will take damage at the end of the round, it can be removed with either a Heal Potion or the Heal spell.

Blind[]

A blinded character will have his accuracy greatly reduce, and will end up missing the target when physically attacking the enemy. It can be removed with either a Heal Potion or the Heal spell.

Silence[]

FFMQ Silence Icon

Muffle and Silence Song don't set the Silence status or Silence itself simply does not work. The Silence status is fully implemented and works, it does not apply properly. The player can still select spells during battle, but when the character's turn comes up, it will say "'Character' is silenced." when attempting to use the selected spell. Outside of battle, trying to use a White Magic spell will play the error sound effect when trying to use the spell.

Repel[]

While there is no Reflect spell, the status still appears. The enemies Ooze and Beholder are set in permanent Repel and are entirely immune to magic attacks. Pazuzu and Zuh have an ability called PsychShield, which sets Repel status on them for a short period of time. There is no way to achieve Repel status on the player's characters, however.
