Cid Pollendina: Oh, shut up and help me remodel the Final Fantasy II weapons page!
Please expand this article into a full one. The following tasks need to be completed:
  • inserting the older translation name(s) in parentheses within anchors below the current named weapons
  • images needed for Unarmed (NES), Stardust Rod (PS/GBA), and Wyvern Lance (PS/GBA)
  • secondary info on GBA/20th Anniversary weapons (elements, strong against any enemy types, statuses, etc.).

This request can be discussed on the associated discussion page. Remove this notice upon completion.

Below is a list of all the weapons found in Final Fantasy II and its ports.

Each weapon type has its own level of proficiency, or weapon level, which can be raised to sixteen, similarly to spell levels. A character's weapon level with a weapon type affects that weapon's abilities in a few ways; for one, it determines how many hits they can make with a weapon of that type, where the max amount of hits is equal to the corresponding weapon's level. It also multiplies the evasion percentage given from the weapon by (1 + level). Weapon level experience is obtained by using the Attack command with the corresponding weapon equipped. The amount of proficiency experience gained is based on the number of times the Attack command is used in the battle plus the Rank of the enemy formation against the user's weapon level.

The character's Attack stat changes based on many factors, one of which includes weapon type (bow, unarmed, or swords/axes/spears/etc).

Swords[]

Prior to the PS version, most swords gave a -50% penalty to Magic Accuracy. The exceptions are the Blood Sword, which gave a -100% penalty, the Excalibur, which gave a -30% penalty, and the Masamune, which gave no penalty. The status menu may not properly display the accuracy of low accuracy swords like the Ancient Sword, Sleep Blade and Blood Sword accuracy if Dual Wield-equipped in the non-dominant (usually left) hand when a more accurate weapon is equipped in the character’s (usually right hand) dominant hand. However, these swords will always have their effects upon striking an enemy, even if there is not an in-game indicator.
