Band called Final Fantasy in Final Fantasy IV: The After Years. (iOS)

The Final Fantasy series has sometimes had its own title, Final Fantasy, alluded to, or used as a term by characters, within its fictional universes. An "ultimate illusion" is a phrase used to allude to the title, as well. At times, the series initials, FF, are referenced as well.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years

Template:Sideicon There is a Band ability named "Final Fantasy". It is used by combining Cecil (Attack) + Rosa (White Magic) + Kain (Jump) + Rydia (Black Magic) + Edge (Throw).

Final Fantasy takes 75 MP to perform and is offense/defense mix combining the powers of all five fighters. It exceeds damage limit and heals allies. Despite its power, the casting time is long, and it is possible a player character could die before the party finishes casting the spell.

Final Fantasy V

Template:Sideicon An item called Final Fantasy appears within the game's data, but cannot be found within a normal playthrough. It doesn't have any purpose or usefulness, just like the Dragon Seal and Omega Badge.

Template:Sideicon The speech Ultimecia holds in Deling City was almost completely different in the Japanese version, where she mentions the words final fantasy.

As a reference to series' initials, there's a resistance group known as "Forest Fox".

Final Fantasy X-2

Template:Sideicon When Yuna tells Nooj about her plan of using love as plan B in stopping Shuyin, he calls it "an ultimate illusion", a synonym for "final fantasy". Another reference to the term Final Fantasy, are the two Alchemist mixes, Final Phoenix and Fantasy Phoenix.

Final Fantasy XII

Template:Sideicon Gilgamesh's special attack is called Ultimate Illusion.

In the International Zodiac Job System version, a number of new weapons were added, each with a letter at the end of their name, such as Blood Sword A and Masamune I. If the player is to collect all the new weapons, in order from the weakest to the strongest weapon, the letters spell out "FINAL FANTASY".

Mewt creates an illusory version of Ivalice using a Gran Grimoire and a game referred to as Final Fantasy. It is unknown which Final Fantasy installment they are referring to, although it is most likely the original Final Fantasy Tactics.

Quon claims Agito is but a "final fantasy".

When Deuce and Eight talk with Quon Yobatz after Tempus Finis arrives, he claims that the Agito, a savior said to appear during the end times, is a "final fantasy", and that Orience cannot be saved. He believes the Agito and its intervention don't really exist, them being a myth to pacify those that live through the end of days and the invasion of the Rursus, giving false hope that their world can be spared.

Dissidia Final Fantasy (2008)

Template:Sideicon The final part of Inward Chaos is titled The Ultimate Fantasy. Additionally, the final blow of Chaos's Utter Chaos attack is called Brink of Delusion. Both are synonyms for "final fantasy". The words final fantasy are also repeated during the game's narration.

In the Japanese version, when defeated, Exdeath refers to the Final Fantasy series by saying, "Is this my final fantasy?" In the English versions, this line is translated as, "Will I end like a mirage?"

Bravely Default

Template:Sideicon The development team settled on the name Bravely Default: Flying Fairy so that the subtitle would abbreviate to "FF", as a reminder of the game's origins.

Non-Final Fantasy guest appearances

Captain N: The Game Master

Due to not having an official name for the Final Fantasy world during the Nintendo era of the original's game release, the creator/writers of the show referred to it as the World of Final Fantasy, named after the game. It is described as being a medieval world.
