Consumable items[]

Recovery items[]

The items below can be used outside of battle from the inventory of individual characters. Using them this way does not consume the user's AP and the player is free to choose the target for the item. Furthermore, these items also have special features when used by someone wearing the Wayfarer or Salve-maker crowns.

  • Wayfarer: Potion, Hi-Potion, X-Potion, Remedy and Ether all restore double the amount of HP or AP when used within or outside of battle.
  • Salve-maker: All items below cost 0 AP when used during battle, and are not consumed when used with Dispensary. Certain items, except those that purely remove status ailments without restoring HP or AP, are applied to everyone in the party when used with Healthcare. Potion, Hi-Potion, X-Potion, Remedy and Elixir inflict HP damage to an opponent when used with Poison Pill.

Attack items[]

The items below can only be used during battle. The Elementalist abilities Augment and Amplify apply to most of these items (bar the Great Tree Log), further boosting their damage when exploiting elemental vulnerability. Furthermore, these items also have special features when used by someone wearing the Salve-maker or Alchemist crowns.[note 1]

  • Salve-maker: All items below cost 0 AP when used during battle.
  • Alchemist: All items below inflict additional 50% damage, Experiment turns one of these items into another one from this table, and Forge adds one of these items into the user's inventory provided it is not full. Smelt requires at least two of these items to work, whereas Cast requires at least one.

  1. Despite having the animation of offensive spells when used, these items do not deal magical damage, as such Spell Fencers experience no boost to their standard attacks when striking an enemy that was damaged by these items in the same turn.
  2. Does not work on Flying enemies.
  3. This is among one of the instances in which the in-game info is false.

White Magic tomes[]

The Cure, Cura, Curaga, Raise, Arise and Esuna tomes (i.e. the first six tomes in the table below) can be used outside of battle from the inventory of individual characters. Using them this way consumes the user AP as per the cost of the specific tome in question and the player is free to choose the target for the recovery spell. Furthermore, the AP cost of using these tomes will be reduced by one if used by someone wearing the White Mage crown.

Black Magic tomes[]

The Spell Fencer abilities Magic Sword and Mystic Sword require the user to carry at least one of these tomes and have it equipped for the abilities to work. However the only tomes that are compatible for the aforementioned abilities are the Fire, Water, Quake and Aero line of spells, (i.e. the first twelve tomes listed in the table below).
