The following is a list of armor from Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light. The main characters as well as the temporary party members can equip any armor because armor are not job specific.
Shields[]
Shields are armguards able to be worn by any playable character regardless of the weapon they are equipped with, i.e. bows.
Paladins gain additional 50% to their Physical Defense stats when equipped with a shield. Fighters still retain their passive ability even though they are equipped with a shield.
Shields are usually seen equipped on the left arm of the player character, unless they are equipped with a bow or book as their weapon, in which case they will switch hands to have the shield equipped on their right arm, while they hold their equipped weapon on their left hand. Dextrality is not a mechanic in The 4 Heroes, however, and so this is merely a cosmetic change.
Due to a bug, all upgrades to shields that boost both Physical Evasion and Magical Evasion do not work, and thus only their initial non-upgraded value is taken into account for battles.

Armor[]
Armor pieces are categorized into light armor, heavy armor, and robes, as indicated by their item icon. The classification serves no purpose as all armor pieces can be equipped by any playable characters regardless of the crowns they wear, and there are no abilities that make use of this categorization.
Some armor pieces provide boost to Physical Evasion and Magical Evasion, however, these are not indicated in their description and are therefore considered hidden stats. Still, some of these armor pieces grant bonuses to the two aforementioned stats when upgraded, and the player can view the hidden stats when they are brought along and selected in the upgrade shop in Urbeth.
Due to a bug, all upgrades to armors that boost both Physical Evasion and Magical Evasion do not work, and thus only their initial non-upgraded value is taken into account for battles.
Due to yet a separate bug, all stat bonuses that provides boost to both Physical Evasion and Magical Evasion do not work. This also includes armor pieces that provide boost to all stats. Only armors that specifically provide boost to Physical Evasion while none to Magical Evasion are not affected by this bug and work as intended.
