Iguion is a Triple Triad card in Final Fantasy VIII used to play the minigame and for turning into items with Quezacotl's Card Mod. Iguion is the sixty-first card in the inventory and the sixth Level 6 card. It depicts the boss Iguion fought during the assassination mission in Deling City.

Iguion has good values for a Level 6 card, as having two 8s makes it a good card to place in a middle position between two cards, as most card opponents can't beat an 8 without a special rule. Its value placements may also be useful for games that use Same and/or Plus.

Obtain[]

There is a 6.3% chance to get Iguion when successfully using the Card command on a Tonberry or Gesper. Though killing Tonberries via Card command counts toward luring out Tonberry King, he never shows in a battle where the player successfully carded the Tonberry. Gespers, meanwhile, are fought as Laguna's party only.

Any AI Triple Triad player who uses Level 6 cards has a chance of using Iguion in a play, from where the player can win it in a card match. Examples of players are prisoner in D-District Prison, CC Heart of the Card Club, Grease Monkey in Fishermans Horizon, Cid Kramer, and Laguna Loire. In the end of the game, all CC members besides CC Diamond will play with Level 6 cards when aboard the Ragnarok if the player completed the CC quest before the point of no return.

Card Mod[]

An Iguion card refines into a Cockatrice Pinion with Quezacotl's Card Mod ability. It can be used to further refine into Break spells after the player learns the Status Magic Refiner ability on Siren. However, the Cockatrice card also turns into Cockatrice Pinion, and is easier to come across, and thus is the better card for farming Break spells in the early game. Iguion cards are still good to have for playing the minigame itself.
