Attacks with lightning-elemental attacks. If it has both arms, it can deliver a Delta Hit.

Final Fantasy VI PlayStation Bestiary entry

The Inferno is a boss in Final Fantasy VI. It is accompanied by its two arms, the Ketu and the Rahu. It is similar to Number 128 in both appearance and in that its arms can be revived.

Stats[]

Battle[]

When the boss and both of its arms are alive, they cast Delta Attack, which petrifies a target and cannot miss, barring immunity. On its own Inferno uses Thundaga, Gigavolt, Atomic Rays, and Shockwave. It counters with its special attack, Sobat, doing heavy physical damage. When alone Inferno will use Magitek Barrier to give itself protect and reflect. Inferno is weak to Lightning Lightning.

Strategy[]

The party's Thundaga spells work well against it. The player can equip Reflect Rings to bounce the Inferno's Thundaga spells back at it, but are advised to have Strago or Mog in the party to bypass reflect and heal the party with Dance or Lore, as Inferno's other attacks can be dangerous. Inferno is immune to Invisible Invisible, so the quick-kill Vanish-Death combo does not work. Spells like Grand Delta or Ultima can deal massive damage and can destroy both its arms.

Other appearances[]

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Inferno appears as the final boss in Castrum Abania, a level 69 dungeon in the game's Stormblood expansion.

Similar to his Final Fantasy VI counterpart, Inferno will use Ketu and Rahu against the party throughout the encounter. Though he is identical in appearance to his VI version, he has what appears to be a third eye on his forehead, implying he is a mutated pureblood Garlean.
