These seeq warriors rely on their instincts, attacking with savage blows.

Description

Berserker is a job in Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift available to the seeq. It focuses on dealing massive damage and smashing the opponent's armor, allowing for even more damage to be dealt. Despite the job's name its only Berserk-inducing ability is Critical: Berserk.

Profile[]

Berserker has excellent Attack with decent Speed and HP, and the rare capability to destroy an enemy's armor or headgear, further exposing them to damage. The Berserker has several supporting abilities, although they are mostly for themselves rather than their allies. These self-buffing capabilities and powerful close range abilities make the Berserker dangerous to approach. The Berserker can borrow some abilities from the Lanista class and still use them effectively.

The Berserker's Defense, Resistance, Magic Attack, and MP are poor. Its underwhelming defensive capabilities make them susceptible to magick and ranged weapons. Status effects, such as Immobilize or Disable, can stop the Berserker's otherwise great offensive power. This class also has no healing abilities.

Overall, the Berserker is stubborn and powerful whose poor magickal abilities limit it to just attacking. However, it is very good at doing that, dealing damage and destroying enemies' equipment. The Berserker has bad defensive capabilities in general, but its offensive strength makes up for it.

Etymology[]

Berserker was originally a term for Norse warriors who fought with uncontrollable rage and reckless disregard for their own lives. The term itself is typically translated as "bear's skin" in reference to the animal skins Vikings would wear into battle. Theories about what causes berserkergang, the fury Berserkers go into, include possession by an animal spirit, drunken rage, and ritualistic dancing. Berserkers are often depicted in art as men with crazed eyes biting their shields in anticipation of battle.
