Mythril Knife (ミスリルナイフ, Misuriru Naifu?), also known as Mithril or Silver Knife, is a recurring weapon in the Final Fantasy series. It is oftentimes a low-ranked knife or dagger, providing minimal attack power and no special effects.

Description

Mythril Knife is a low-ranked dagger that provides 10 Attack, 15 Accuracy, and 16 Critical. It can be bought for 800 gil (640 on Easy mode) at Crescent Lake, or found in Castle Cornelia (with the Mystic Key), Mount Duergar, and Marsh Cave. It can be equipped by all classes but the White Mage, White Wizard, Monk, and Black Belt.

Description

Mythril Knife is a low-ranked dagger that provides 14 Attack, 67% Accuracy, and 2% Evasion. It can be bought for 400 gil (800 on the NES/PSX) at Altair and Machanon, or dropped from Borghen.

Final Fantasy III[]

Mythril Knife is a low-ranked dagger that provides 14 Attack (10 on the NES), and can be equipped by the Onion Knight, Freelancer, Warrior, Red Mage, Thief, Dark Knight, Ninja, and Bard. It can be bought for 500 gil at Kazus and Canaan.

Final Fantasy IV[]

Knife of mythril, effective against ghouls.
Description

Mythril Knife is the weakest dagger, providing 20 Attack, 49 Accuracy, and deals extra damage against Ghouls. It can be bought for 3,000 gil at Mythril or dropped from Mythril Golem. It can be equipped by Cecil, Kain, Rydia, Edward, Palom, and Edge.

In the 3D remake, Mythril Knife now provides 10 Attack, 110 Accuracy, Speed +1, and deals extra damage against Ghouls. It is obtained in the same manner as previously, but now can be equipped by Rosa and now only by adult Rydia.

Final Fantasy IV -Interlude-[]

Mythril Knife is the weakest dagger, providing 20 Attack, 49 Accuracy, and deals extra damage against Ghouls. It can be dropped from Mythril Golem, and can only be equipped by Cecil, Rydia, Rydia?, Palom, and Edge.

Final Fantasy IV: The After Years[]

Mythril Knife is a low-ranked dagger that provides 20 Attack, 40% Accuracy, and is effective against ghouls. It can be bought for 3,000 gil at Mythril, dropped from Fell Turtle, Ironback, or Mythril Golem, found in the Sylph Cave (Rydia's Tale), or made at Kokkol's Forge by using Kokkol Ore x2 and a Knife. It can be equipped by Cecil, Ceodore, Kain, Edge, Rydia, Palom, Edward, Gekkou, Zangetsu, Izayoi, Tsukinowa, Harley, Golbez, Calca and, Brina.

Knife forged from mythril. Can be used with Spellblade.
Description

Mythril Knife is a low-ranked dagger that provides 23 Attack and 100 Hit Rate. It can be bought for 450 gil at Karnak, or stolen from Wyvern. It can be equipped by all jobs except the Monk, White Mage, and Oracle.

Description

Mythril Knife is the second weakest dagger, providing 30 Attack, enables Runic, and is two-handed compatible. It can be bought for 300 gil at South Figaro or Mobliz in the World of Balance, stolen from Lesser Lopros and Guard Leader, drops from Iron Fist, or by recruiting Terra and Gogo. It can be equipped by Terra, Locke, Edgar, Shadow, Celes, Setzer, Strago, Mog, Relm, and Gogo.

Final Fantasy XI[]

Mythril Knife is a dagger that provides 12 damage and 195 Delay. It deals 3.69 damage per second and accumulates 53 TP per hit. It can be equipped by level 31 Warrior, Thief, Paladin, Dark Knight, Bard, Ranger, Samurai, Ninja, Dragoon, Corsair, Puppetmaster, and Dancer. It can be bought for 14,560 gil from Coumuna in Upper Jeuno (H-8). It is found in a Treasure Casket in Rolanberry Fields.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

The original Mythril Knife was a Gladiator's Arm for Paladin. It was among many dagger-like gladiator's arms that were renamed and remodeled in patch 2.3, becoming the Mythril Broadsword.

Patch 2.4 would introduce the Mythril Knives as a set of Rogue's Arms for Ninjas. They can be crafted by Blacksmiths, rewarded from the quest Road to Redemption, or purchased for 4,159 gil in Limsa Lominsa, Gridania, Ul'dah, Ishgard, and the Coerthas Central Highlands.

A Mythril Knife key item also appears in the quest City of the Ancients.

Mythril Knife is the second weakest knife, providing 4 Attack and 5% Weapon Defense. It can be bought for 500 gil at an Outfitter after meeting with Dycedarg at Eagrose Castle in Chapter 1, or found as rare treasure at Merchant City of Dorter and Mining Town of Gollund using Treasure Hunter.

Etymology[]

[view · edit · purge]The word "mythril" or "mithril" is a metal found in many fantasy worlds. It was originally introduced by the fantasy writings of J. R. R. Tolkien, being present in his Middle-earth. It resembles silver but is stronger than steel, and much lighter in weight than either. The author first wrote of it in The Lord of the Rings, and it is retrospectively mentioned in the third, revised edition of The Hobbit in 1966. In the first 1937 edition, the mail shirt given to Bilbo is described as being made of "silvered steel". The name mithril comes from two words in Sindarin—mith, meaning "grey" or "mist", and ril meaning "glitter".
