The Griffon is an enemy from Final Fantasy III. It can first be encountered as an optional boss at the top of the western tower in Castle Sasune, where the chest it is guarding holds the Wightslayer, the strongest weapon available at that point in the game. The Griffon can also be encountered as a regular enemy around the town of Tokkul and around Castle Argus.
