Attack Power and a broad base of abilities honing in on physical damage, making it one of the best weapons for Tifa to deal raw physical damage.

Feathered Gloves provide Tifa with the highest raw speed boost as well as the second-highest attack power increase below Metal Knuckles. Feathered Gloves' upgrades boost to her aerial attack damage, ATB charge rate, damage when attacking enemies from behind, and allow her to recover HP when attacking a staggered enemy with unique abilities. The weapon also provides her a 70% chance to start the battle with a higher chi level without needing Unbridled Strength.
Though the Feathered Gloves provide Tifa with a wide variety of upgrades to her physical damage, the main drawback is their few materia slots in early levels. The weapon only has three slots to begin with, all unlinked, and it requires a lot of SP to address this shortcoming. Because it has no linked materia slots initially, it cannot benefit from Elemental Materia, making it weak against enemies that resist physical damage as it cannot exploit an elemental weakness to compensate. Because the weapon does not provide Tifa with many increases to her magical damage, she should instead use these slots for
Complete Materia, and other than elemental materia, can use her second linked slot for
HP Absorption Materia.
Once fully leveled, the Feathered Gloves play to all of Tifa's strengths and become a very strong and versatile weapon in her main role as a physical attacker. The speed attribute boost provided by the weapon plays to her biggest strength, and though the raw attack power attribute is lower than Metal Knuckles', the increase in speed and its other abilities make up for this. Although the weapon is not useful for magic damage, it does not compromise magic attributes as heavily as her other weapons, and this is not Tifa's usual strength anyway. Feathered Gloves also does not provide the durability increase or critical hit rate of Purple Pain, which can be potentially deal more damage with critical hits, and may be more preferable in challenging fights, although Tifa is normally better at dodging attacks completely and can do without an HP increase.
