The Feathered Cap is a low to mid-ranked mystic headgear in Final Fantasy XII that boosts the wearer's Magick Resist by 18, Magick Power by 5, and on the Zodiac versions, also gives 40 to MP, which is less than the preceding Wizard's Hat.
Obtain[]
Original[]
The Feathered Cap is sold for 1,900 gil from Rabanastre after defeating Belias, and in Jahara. It is found as a treasure in Zertinan Caverns' Drybeam Cavern (northeast; 60% chance to appear, 60% chance for gil, 50% chance the item treasure is the Feathered Cap without the Diamond Armlet equipped ), and in Ozmone Plain's Haulo Greens (near to a rock near the chocobo path to the part of Shred that leads to Henne Mines; 60% chance to appear, 33% chance for gil, 10% chance the item treasure is the Feathered Cap with the Diamond Armlet equipped ). It is rarely stolen from the Red Chocobo and the Brown Chocobo in Dalmasca Estersand.
The Feathered Cap is made in the bazaar set "Traveler's Garb" by selling two Braid Wools (from gator-type enemies, earliest from Greeden, and from Ozmone Hare), two Tanned Hides (from various enemies, e.g. Slaven), and five Water Stones (from various enemies, e.g. Giza Rabbit). The items for the bazaar set can be procured much earlier than the Feathered Cap is available from shops.
Zodiac[]
The Feathered Cap is sold for 1,900 gil in Jahara and Mt Bur-Omisace. It is found as a treasure in rainy Giza Plains' Warrior's Wash (80% chance to appear, 35% chance for gil, 50% chance the item treasure is the Feathered Cap without the Diamond Armlet equipped), as well as in the Trial Mode Stage 53 with the Diamond Armlet equipped. It is still rarely stolen from the Red Chocobo and Brown Chocobo in Estersand, and made in the bazaar set "Traveler's Garb" by selling the same items as before.
Use[]
The Feathered Cap is a low to mid-ranked mystic hat, giving 18 Magick Resist and 5 Magick Power, as well as 40 MP in the Zodiac versions. Mystic armor offer magick-related bonuses that affect all types of magickal actions, from casting black magick to damage an enemy, to casting white magick to heal the party. Magick Power is also a factor when determining damage dealt by katana, staves, and maces.
In the Zodiac versions, White Mage, Red Battlemage, Black Mage, and Bushi can equip it, and so the Feathered Cap is only useful to buy if the player has chosen any of these License Boards for their party. In The Zodiac Age versions, after fighting Belias the player can choose two License Boards per party member; it is usually a good idea to pair jobs that use two different types of armor for versatility.
In all versions, the Feathered Cap is available through the bazaar much earlier than from the shops: Braid Wool can be procured from the Rare Game Greeden on the Estersand riverbank (though a tough foe to defeat early on), and Tanned Hides and Water Stones can be obtained from enemies on the dry Giza Plains, Slaven and Giza Rabbits. If the player makes the "Traveler's Garb" early, they can skip all the early mystic gear sets in favor of it.
