Fastitocalon is an enemy from Final Fantasy VIII. In the Japanese version, it is known as Focalor. It first appears as a fin sticking out of the ground, much like Fastitocalon-F. The only way to tell the difference between the two once the battle starts is that this monster has a much deeper and more distinct cry than its counterparts. The large Fastitocalon is much rarer than the "fake" Fastitocalon-F.

Triple Triad[edit | edit source]

Fastitocalon is a Level 3 Monster Card in Triple Triad used for playing the minigame and for turning into Water Crystals with Quezacotl's Card Mod. It is a good card to collect as Water Crystals are useful for refining and for using one on Quistis.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Fastitocalon is another name for Aspidochelone, a legendary sea monster whose back resembled an island that would lure sailors to their doom. Fastitocalon is also mentioned in an old-English poem called The Whale as a name for the Devil.

Its Japanese name is Focalor. Focalor is the name of one of the 72 demons said to have been sealed by Solomon. In demonology, Focalor is said to be the name of a demon with power of wind and sea.
