"Fang's Theme" (ファングのテーマ", Fangu no Tēma?) is the character theme of Oerba Yun Fang in Final Fantasy XIII. "Fang's Theme" is a short, uplifting orchestral piece, something unusual for a character of the "strong, serious female" archetype.
Game appearances Edit
"Fang's Theme" contains a small variant of the main battle theme and plays at many points during the game, including the party's siege on the Palamecia to rescue Sazh and Vanille, when Fang summons Bahamut for the first time, and during the party's arrival to Gran Pulse. It is the first track of the original soundtrack's fourth disc.
There are two arrangements of "Fang's Theme" in the soundtrack: the first is the second version of "The Pulse l'Cie", which plays during her flashback of the fifth day when she and Vanille separate at the Euride Gorge energy plant, and is the twenty-first track of the soundtrack's second disc. Another arrangement is "Dust to Dust", a melancholic theme with vocals.
A "prototype" version of "Fang's Theme" titled, "M181 Shugeki2 Prototype" was included on the Final Fantasy XIII: Original Soundtrack PLUS album as the twelfth track.
"Fang's Theme -The Boss-" is an orchestral theme with haunting vocals that plays during moments in the Dead Dunes' Temple Ruins. It is the sixth track of the Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII: Original Soundtrack second disc.
Arrangement album appearances Edit
A piano arranged version of the theme is included on this album.
"Fang's Theme" is included on this live recording of an orchestral concert, performed by the Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra and conducted by Arnie Roth held in Tokyo, in November 2010.
"Fang's Theme" appears on this album released to commemorate the Final Fantasy 25th Anniversary.
Compilation album appearances Edit
"Fang's Theme" was included in this "best of" type vinyl album as the second track from the Side A.
An orchestral arrangement of the theme performed by Distant Worlds Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus is included on the album.
- ↑ Masashi Hamauzu, Final Fantasy XIII: Original Soundtrack liner notes: "It was modeled on the structure of Final Fantasy X's "Assault" and titled "Assault 2". I had still needed a drum part and some other things to bring it closer to the original song, but it ended up needing to be rearranged for the Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra anyway (later turning into "Fang's Theme"), and it never quite got there."
