Famiel is a character introduced in the Final Fantasy XVI expansion "Echoes of the Fallen". He is a mysterious merchant who sells dusk crystals.

History[]

Famiel is a denizen of Mysidia and the brother of the leader, Shula. On occasion, Famiel would leave Mysidia alongside others to travel through the rest of Valisthea as merchants to gather supplies and money for Mysidia by selling shards of an artificial crystal created by the Fallen, called dusk crystals in the black market. To avoid Sanbreque laws against the denizens of Mysidia, he and his companions dyed their hair brown.

As Clive Rosfield destroyed the other Mothercrystals, the dusk crystals became a valuable product for many in Valisthea. The quality of these dusk crystals is inferior and they expire faster than the original crystal shards. This earned the ire of many who felt scammed and also the attraction of some criminal factions interested in getting the dusk crystal for personal gain. Byron Rosfield banned the use of dusk crystals in Port Isolde, and Famiel and his companions were forced to flee before Byron's guards arrested them.

As Clive and his companions investigated the origin of these dusk crystals, they crossed paths with Famiel, saving him many times from bandits and Akashic.

The third time they crossed paths, Clive saved him from the Sagespire security system. Soon they discovered the artificial crystal and Famiel begged Clive not to destroy it, as it was the his tribe's only source of income. Clive convinced him that keeping the artificial crystal would only attract nations seeking its power or criminal organizations, only further endangering his tribe. In the end, Famiel relented and allowed Clive to destroy the artificial crystal.

Once he heard that his sister had requested Clive's help regarding Waljas, Famiel returned to Mysidia to greet his friend again, having told stories about him to his sister.
