Extract Mana (マジックアタック, Majikku Atakku?) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series.
Appearances[]
Final Fantasy X[]
Extract Mana is an ability exclusive to the International and HD Remaster versions, found on Kimahri's section of the Standard Sphere Grid and Lulu's section of the Expert Sphere Grid. It costs 1 MP and deals physical damage as well as inflicting Distill Mana on the target. It costs 20 Mana Spheres to teach it to an aeon.
Extract Mana replaces whatever item the defeated enemy was supposed to drop with Mana Sphere(s). One Mana Sphere is awarded for using Extract Mana, but two will be awarded for an Overkill. It is not required to Overkill the enemy with Extract Mana; as long as the party defeats the enemy with an Overkill, they'll get two Mana Spheres. If the defeated enemy was dropping Mana Sphere(s) for its normal drop, Mana Spheres obtained from the use of Extract Mana are added to the total at the end. The Distill Mana status doesn't stack; inflicting a different Distill status will remove the current status.
