Exaflare (エクサフレア, Ekusafurea?) is a recurring ability in the Final Fantasy series associated with variants of Bahamut, but not Bahamut himself.

Appearances[]

Crisis Core -Final Fantasy VII-[]

Exaflare from VIICCR

Exaflare is an enemy ability used by Bahamut Fury as a boss, which inflicts major non-elemental physical damage and reduces MP and AP to 0.

Exaflare can be used by the player via the Digital Mind Wave by lining up three Bahamut Fury icons. It deals non-elemental magic damage to all enemies that ignores Spirit and raises the Emotion level by one if it is a level 5 attack. At level 1, the attack has a power of 70, gaining +4 power up to level 5 where it has a power of 96.

Exaflare is a level 8 special materia that boosts the chance of Bahamut Fury appearing on the DMW. It begins at 5x, and increases by 1x each level up to 9x. It is a reward for Mission 9-6-4 and can be bought from Bone Village Commerce.

Final Fantasy XIII-2[]

Exaflare is an enemy ability used by Jet Bahamut, which deals massive non-elemental damage to the party, which only a Sentinel can survive. It is used after a countdown of 3 while both Amber Bahamut and Garnet Bahamut are alive.

Final Fantasy XIV[]

Exaflare is one of Midgardsormr's attacks in his imagined prime form in Alphascape V2.0. It is a series of eruptions that travel in a straight line that start from either side of the arena. This attack is signaled by arrow markings that display what position the eruptions will travel.

Bahamut Prime also uses Exaflare in the final phase in The Unending Coil of Bahamut, which travels in a straight line from its starting position to the opposite side.

Dragon-King Thordan uses a variant of this skill in the final phase of Dragonsong's Reprise (Ultimate) Dragonsong's Reprise (Ultimate). Exaflare's Edge summons three Exaflares with three arrow markers instead of one. Each Exaflare thus splits in three directions after the first explosion, resulting in a total of nine eruptions travelling across the arena.
